I'm having a problem with my MI9 SE, 2 days ago it started clicking on its own at the top of the screen.
At some point the intensity is so great that it is impossible to use the cell phone.
I restarted the phone a few times, but the problem recurs after a few hours of use.
I searched on youtube and found other similar cases, still unsolved.
Would anyone know how to solve?
Some units also had this issue. Return if u have warranty
EEA version 10.2.9 has this problem but seems fixed in 10.3.1 (either go Global or wait to see if there will be any more Android updates for the Mi 9 SE).
I had Ghost Touch problem on my Xiaomi mi9 in Call of Duty Mobile and PubG.
This is the only solution which fixed my problem:
xiaomi.eu/community/threads/xiaomi-mi-9-ghost-touch-issue.51043/#post-503263
1. Open settings
2. Activate developer options (My device > Tap 8 times on "MIUI-Version")
3. Settings > Additional Settings
4. Developer options
5. Disable MIUI-Optimizations (at the very bottom).
6. Reboot
Let's try...
I have the same matter with this F***** phone after 3 months of purchase only
I also have this issue. I'm going to send it to repair.
It works fine for a moment when I press a bit harder the bottom right corner of display.

I have two devices , mine and my wife's . Mine has no problem and my wife's started ghost touch a few weeks ago. I tried the Disable MIUI-Optimizations fix , it seems like it got better but it still happens. Do you think there is any fix? it will cost me a lot to send it back , it was purchased from AliExpress.
It seems like this started happening to everyone in the last couple of weeks maybe it is in the latest Firmware?
I had the same problem. After I disable double tap to wake the error seems to be fixed. Can anybody confirm this?
Edit:
After testing around for some hours the problem reoccurs...I've figured out that the ghost touch can be reproduced when you slightly bend the phone or just squeeze the frame a bit stronger. So it's definitely a hardware related issue.
In my case none of the given tips helped to solve the problem. But yesterday I installed the new MIUI Global 11.0.4 and until now no ghost touches anymore.
For me this is strange because if it would have been a software related issue why only a few of the devices have this issue and not all?
If the problem reoccurs I will let you know.
Look that video, maybe can fix

This problem is in the screen
I have a Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite. Everything was fine and one day I started getting ghost touches. They are very fast and persistent.
I did a factory reset and it fixed it, but a week later it came back. I followed some tips online and disabled "MIUI-Optimization" which fixed it but only for a few days. I also disabled 3 finger swipe and tap to wake up but nothing is helping anymore.
I doubt it's hardware because a factory reset wouldn't have made a difference.
Please help. My guarantee on the phone recently expired :crying: and I can't afford to buy a new one
I have same problems

I do do everything that tells in this website but ghost touch not stoped
I send many email to xiaomi for this problem but they not answer

Hi guys.
This must be a hardware problem, the other solutions don't work.
I just got my Xiaomi MI 9 yesterday but I have ghost touch issue too! I also tried the Disable MIUI-Optimizations fix but still I have same problem. I guess it's really hardware problem!
Hello, i have the same p7roblem (ghost touch) with a Mi9 SE. Could flashing fastboot rom solve the problem perhaps? Or is it 100% a hardware problem? I opened the phone and disconnected all connectors. Did not help. Resetting the phone did not help. Unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp and miui.eu rom. Still ghost touch. So i did not yet flashed fastboot rom. Can this help? Any solution?
Thanks, Alex

Received my phone yesterday, and when I was browsing it , the screen went crazy, and unresponsive. did a factory reset and the problem still persisted. Opened a return request at amazon so they can send me a new one. Don't know if anyone had the same issue or it was just me. Here is a video
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12983778/VID_20150527_213832648.mp4
Please check if TalkBack is enabled. If this setting is enabled, the touch screen may behave differently and appear to be defective. Instead of one tap to open an item, you will need to tap once until it highlights with a green box around the selection, then double tap to open. Also when swiping it may require using two fingers instead of one. You may also be hearing voice prompts to every action made.
To disable go to Apps/Settings/Accessibility/Talkback - turn off.

Same problem
Hi,
I had the same issue! I getback the phone in guarantee to Taiwán. The seller says that the phone was repairde, the display was changed.... finally 2 weeks ago I reicived the Zenphone 2 (1.5moths since the deal). Now today the phone have the same issue, I try to clean the dipslay phone and suddenly the touch screen have the same issue, crazy and unresponsive screen!! I very frustaded about the ASUS Brand! tell me what's happened with your phone?
thanks

Try to delete user data, then factory reset and then wipe cache. If after this you're still in trouble simply use warranty:hardware problem, asus fault.
You must use 2 fingers when you type to get through the setup. I know its a pain but when you are able to get in, turn "TalkBack" off.
I bought a zenfone 2 64gb on amazon and I had the same random issues: unresponsive touch screen, unsensitive, ghost touches.
I guessed that it could be the screen protector but it was still happening after remove it.
So, I asked to amazon a replacement.
After a perfect week, I am starting to have the issues, again!
I sold my oneples one to avoid touch screen issues. I am very upset!
I'm having the same issue as you guys. I also noticed that cleaning the screen with a rag (especially the one for glasses) makes the touch screen go crazy. At first i tried to downgrade the firmware, unluckily i had the issue again. Then i upgraded the firmware from the phone and now it's all going apparently well. I'll update for any news.

To anyone who have this issue: Try to test touch screen by SMMI's test option. Open calculator, type ",12345+" (with the comma), then "=" (equals). SMMI menu will show up. Now "single test", then "touch test".
In my case this process gives a straight line of unwanted touch inputs in the upper region of the screen ( sometimes multiple dots in a row forming a complete straight line). Do you guys have the same result?

It's a software related problem.. Because we're a lot of ppl suffering this problem. But, don't know why, ASUS is ignoring us.
I have sent my phone for repair. They say that they will replace the whole display.
Hi guys. I have almost identical issue and this seems like a hardware fault. I sold the Zenfone 2 to a friend and after 2 months she complains about the unresponsive touchscreen only at the top of the display..... I have the phone with me now, trying to fix it.. Did a factory reset, firmware upgrade, no results. Definitely a hardware issue and it is seems that lots of people are affected. So dissapointed by Asus......
If it's a hardware issue why is it so many people experiencing this now together all in the same time? Not earlier not later? My guess will be software problem. But I'm not sure
Any of you guys have a microsd card installed?

Hey everyone, thank you so much for sharing with me. I'll forward this to our service team. Sorry been away..it's Thanksgiving week here in the US...so I'll get to this on Monday!
Hi!
I Have a ZE550ML with stock rom in the last firmware version released and its not rooted... since nearly a month im facing some ghost touches randomly in the touchscreen... The phone and the touchscreen works perfectly but, sometimes, witouth an aparently reason, the screen becomes "crazy" and after activate "Show touches" in developer options, i can see the screen is being touched by... nothing? x'D
Anyone else is facing this issue? Can anyone help me? I've already contacted with Zenfone 2 support in beta forum but... no answer..
Thank you,
Regards
not getting that issue, even after several falls. must be hardware related.

Im not sure if it is a digitalizer problem (HW problem) because it happens randomly and not 2 much often.. (lets say, 1 time every 40 mins of screen) and after lock & unlock the phone, the problem its gone)
I am not sure if it is touch issue or display issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdMbbML9ECg Please have a look at this link.
The touch works for 2 seconds of screen on. Anyone having same issue? Please reply if anyone has fixed this issue.
same problem.
It's like the smartphone, after a 2 second make a check then blocks the touch.
I noticed that if I touch the screen before turning on the smartphone, the touch does not hang after 2 seconds but after more than 2 minutes.
I'm not sure it's a hardware problem; I still believe that it can be solved by preventing the above control.

I am also facing the same problem on my phone.
I tried discharging the phone completely and charging again.
I use the original charger only.
I'm running Pixel Experience ROM on stock kernel. This problem started a week after unlocking and rooting my phone. I also feel that it is not a hardware issue.
The problem started with the nav. buttons: The rest of the screen functioned properly but the nav buttons were unresponsive. A little later (a few hours), the entire screen responded to touch intermittently, and after that it responded only a few seconds after unlocking the phone (the above mentioned problem).
I am having a very tough time as this is my daily driver and I'm stuck.
Please Help. Thanks a lot in advance.

No solution whatsoever!! I just cannot believe this is a hardware problem. My screen works (most of the time) for 2mins if I wake the screen up while touching it with one of my fingers, otherwise the screen works only for 2 secs.
This problem has been discussed in very few places although there are many people who are affected. Loosing hope.
Can I exchange this phone on Filpkart/Amazon in India?

Exactly how did you did that? Could you explain?
Broke a piezoelectric lighter and got the raw mechanism.
I made it discharge several times on the affected area while touching another area of the screen with another finger

Workaround
I tried one workaround indicated by someone else on another thread. Follow below steps
Press power button to put screen off
Hold phone in left hand and put left thumb on screen
Press power button to start screen
Touch with right hand fingers
It will work till left thumb is there on screen..
If touch is lost follow from step one
Atleast this helps alot instead of only 2-3secs stuff..
Thanks to one who indicated this workaround
Found a solution
Hi I was also facing this problem and I was ready to give up then I tried changing custom ROMs and when I installed the dot os v2.4,the problem disappeared and I was back to using the device normally

Hi there.
IS anyone else experiencing AOD not showing incoming calls? My phone rings, but the AOD doesn't change...so I have to tap somewhere to wake up screen, and then I can answer a call.
Anyone found a fix for this?
Same problem here with the Poco F2 Pro on MIUI 12.5.1
@Medomish did you found any fix for this? I've been facing this problem since the previous version, and the update didn't fix it.
I'm pretty upset with it.

No, still occasionally not waking up to an incoming call. Often it wakes up but with 2-3 seconds delay. Annoying, very annoying. I can see who is calling me on my Garmin watch, and then I wait to be able to answer it. Hope for a soon fix.
I've done this procedure 3 days ago, and since then I haven't faced any problem.

Maybe the screen protector quality is not good and you're facing this issue. I also faced this issue and I was fed up and removed the screen protector. My friend suggested a Gadgetshieldz protector which is better because after applying this screen protector I didn't face the issue again.

No, I dont think its the screen protector.
Today I had the exact same problem that you are showing in the video.
But not only on the middle of the screen. I also had this problem in the lower right corner of the screen when trying to send a whatsapp audio message. I could not hold down the record button. It always canceled the recording... Very annoying!
I installed a touchscreen test app from the playstore and it clearly showed that the screen has issues!
I already wanted to send it back to the shop where I bought it.
But then I thought about restarting the device...
And it worked!!
All touchscreen problems disappeared after restart!
Very strange. I googled the topic and we dont seem to be the only users which have these kind of screen problems. Looks like a lot of different Xiaomi devices have screen issues...
I hope the problem does not come back.
Did you try to restart already?
Did it solve your issue?
My Redmi note 10 pro has a similar issue with the scrolling.
I restarted the phone and it seemed to resolve it. I also noticed the phone was heating up more than usual when performing normal things like browsing and FB.
I felt the volatile memory may have gotten congested.
