I have been using the official Samsung HDMI>USB adaptor to play videos on the factory NAV screen in my 2014 Ford Escape. It has always worked perfectly until today. I haven't used it in a few months but today when I plugged it in it flashed a Samsung DEX screen detected momentarily but it kept flashing HDMI connected & HDMI disconnected every second or so & never connected to the NAV screen. The screen kept saying video source connected (or something like that) but it was also saying no data received (or something to that effect).
Does this sound like a problem with my phone ??

Hello everyone, the problem that i am having is that i bought a official Samsung mhl adapter for S2 fron Amazon. Now, it worked fine for like 1 week in which i used it 2 or 3 times but after that time the tv screen was showing no signal. I restored my phone to the factory settings and it started working again but after the same time of use it wasnt working again. Restored it again and again the same story. But today i restored my phone again to the factory settings but now it worked like 30 seconds and has stopped working since then. At first i thougjt the problem was causing some app but i havent installed any app in the recent restore apart frm Facebook, candy crush , whatsapp and top eleven so i guess thats not the case. Any help guys plzzz.
P.s. When i connect the mhl adapter with the phone with all the cables needed and it shows that its charging but the tv (Samsung) idicates no signal.
I request the moderators to pls move this post to the q and a deoartment.

perhaps the charger your using is weak amplitude. try a higher amplitude charger. also mhl will work best in flight mode as the network going up or down seems to knock out mhl. although you can use wifi in flight mode with mhl just fine.
does it work straight after you do a reset and the phone at default? it may be also faulty unit because when its plugged in the componets get hot and fail, when cold they may be ok, thats why it sometimes works.
thanks for ur reps guys and sorry as i ddnt check the post for a long time. I will try using it on flight mode and if it doesnt work it might be the mhl thats not working right. And yes it works fine after doing a reset but the Mhl doesnt get that much hot. So i think this not the problem.
doesnt work either in flight mode
I have the Samsung Multimedia Dock (the one with 3 usb port and HDMI), buyed 1 yar ago.
With the 4.3 update I have some problems
with 4.1.2 when i put the note into the dock the screen of the note become mirrored to the tv, with 4.3 update the image disappear on the note and appear only on the tv, but the touchscreen stay active. If i try to watch a video the video is showed on the tv, but control remains on the note (with the screen black) If i disconnect and reconnect sometimes i see images on both screen.
I don't think it's a problem of the dock or an hardware problem of the note, because with an other note2 it works correctly.
Hi, I just like to share my experience with problem connection my Galaxy S3 to my 2nd new Samsung Allshare cast dongle. As you can see, I have two Samsung Allshare cast dongles. One in the bedroom, the new one for the sitting room. The first one was bought long time ago and had been working fine. Got latest ME29 firmware. Connection is fast and no problem at all. Now, the price of this dongle has dropped so I proceeded to get myself another one for the sitting room, saving me unplugging it and plugging it, etc.. The new one has the JB version of firmware. The phone detected it without any problem but it kept on showing failed to connect message almost instantly when I tapped on the detected device on the touch screen. This is how I have ended up here at this website. After hours of reading, stock.rom, custome.rom, .pdk, etc.. I was still getting nowhere. But I don't know why. I kept on seeing in my head the blue LED showing on the dongle. Well, stupid of me, I had thrown away the packaging and with it the manual. So, I tried to download it from Samsung website. There is nothing about this dongle on the UK Samsung support website. From my experience with other worldwide hardware companies, so I tried Samsung support website in other countries. And I found a customer commented on another customer's query. So, here is the solution for those people with connection problem after updating the dongle's firmware to ME29. No harm to try this before going down the custom rom route.
After updating the firmware of the Allshare cast dongle, (by the way, my S3 has the latest jelly bean on), it will say Allshare is closed. At the same time, the red LED that was flashing would be solid red now (not flashing). Unplug the power (miniUSB) from the dongle, count to 10 and plug it back. The dongle should be showing a solid red LED now. Press and hold the button at the back of the dongle for about 15 seconds and the red LED should be flashing now. At this point, you can restart your phone just in case. Or just disable the WiFi and then enable it on your S3. Now, go to the dongle, press and hold the button for one or two seconds, the flashing red LED will change to solid BLUE. Now, go to your S3, turn on AllShare. It will detect the dongle. Tap on the detected device on your S3..... lo and behold....it connects!!!!!! Just to repeat, I have not downloaded or mod my S3 in anyway.
The blue LED is only for use in the very first time of connection. So, I guess updating the firmware constitutes a "first time connection" condition. I hope this information help. Good luck all.
What app is used to update dongle? Sorry if this is a NOOB question. ..
Hi,
I have not been able to find an app either on the Google play store or the Sammy app store to upgrade firmware.
The version shown is LJ02. But I seem to have constantly re - pair every time I try to use it.
Help on the firmware elsewhere on the forums someone mentioned there was a better device now (linksys dlink? I don't remember)
TIA - Thanks in advance
Frank
This is actually for my brothers phone. He broke the screen on his note 3 (it shows no video at all) so we got the Samsung Smart dock for it. It was working fine until it software updated. Upon rebooting it no longer displays and video through HDMI. I can hear the jingle as the phone boots up and I can assume that the OS is fully loaded as the lights on the keyboard and mouse come on, but still no video. Tried different HDMI cables and TVs but still nothing. I was able to flash firmware NE6 via odin just incase it failed to update on its own, but that still did not change anything. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this thing working again?
Just wondering if Android Auto for connected car displays stopped working for anyone as of yesterday or today. I'm skeptical of another Google "back end experiment" that caused it to stop working. I have a Ford with Sync 3
Symptom: Plug phone into car, nothing happens. Phone only charges and will even say USB is connected.
I've done some basic and partially in depth trouble shooting. It most likely couldn't be caused by any updates on Car infotainment system or my Phone because it has been working (unless there was a back end play services update that was pushed out).
From the obvious to less obvious:
-Tried rebooting phone and restarted car
-Tried using a different USB A to C cable (Anker ones have worked perfectly for me)
-Tried using secondary USB port in car
-Tested phones ability to connect to a PC and transfer data, no issue
-Threw music onto a USB flash drive and plugged it into car, no issue
-Tried turning on USB debugging on phone, no change (not sure if this would have even helped in first place).
I'm at a loss right now. It does not make any sense.
I do not have another android phone to try or an iPhone to test CarPlay unfortunately.
Literally had the same thing happen to me on Sync 3 last week. I just deleted the car from the Android Auto app and deleted the phone from Sync 3. After that I was able to use Android Auto again after going through the setup prompts. No issues since.
Works fine for me on my 2018 silverado
no issues on 2017 Sierra
Here it works perfectly

happens to me every 3-6 months.
Swapping out the cable resolved it every time.
ya dude you need to try some different cables. that should always be your first step if there have been no updates.
Thanks for the replies. I deleted and unpaired AA from my phone and my car with no luck.
I actually had my coworker who has a Pixel 2 XL plug his phone in to my car. He had no issues at all even after multiple tries. Mine still wont connect. We're both on Pie with same security patch level. Did try tried Multiple new cables and still no luck (the anker high quality ones).
I found this thread incase it starts happening to anyone...
https://productforums.google.com/fo.../PWBrDUXzR4o;context-place=forum/android-auto
Something I picked off of that topic was some USB patches/features that went in to effect between Pie release and last month security patch.
I may just wait a month. Maybe another security patch which tweaks USB or 9.1 will drop fixing my issue. We shall see. At least I know its not my car or my cables.
Go into apps and check your "play services" versions between the two phones. Google controls a lot of **** through that app
Or just try to clear your usb port
Thanks for the replies. After the October patch I'm back up and running.
