Hello,
Would a jio 4g sim work on the Verizon VS985? The phone is in disuse and would like to have both data and voice if possible.
Thanks for your time.
PS: Utterly new to this.

You are in the wrong form by the way. This form is for the Verizon lg g4, not the Verizon lg g3...
About you question, your new sim should just work, It may not work on stock firmware because of carrier locking but it should just work on LOS

Canadian here,
I picked up an LG P999DW Optimus G2X (Optimus 2x) Link and I unlocked it with the Octopus. I have put in a Rogers(GSM) Sim and I cannot get it to work with 3G even after I put in the correct APN settings. Can anyone help me get 3G working please?
Thanks,
Freerider_4life
Bump, can someone please give me a hand with this? 2g is terribly slow
Make sure the phone and sim are cooperating
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with getting the right network, but you might wanna check with the phone's hardware, and ask the people who you bought it from. I remember my brother got an iPhone 4S unlocked straight from Apple store, and even though the iPhone 4S supports at least 3G speed, my brother is not getting the 3G speed because he is using a T-Mobile powered SIM, not exactly T-Mobile. At the same time, I use that exact same SIM on my HTC G2 and I get 4G/HSPA+ speed, so it clearly depends on the phone.
The phone itself and the SIM has to cooperate in order for you to get the speed you deserve for that phone.
Hope that helps, I don't know much but I've noticed it a lot.
it all depends on bands, most unlocked devices only get EDGE(or 2g) on other networks it will only get 4g or 3g on the device the carrier it was made for unless the phone was made otherwise

I have the same problem. Unlocked P999 from Wind and I'm using it for Fido (Rogers network) but I can only get 2g.
Hello!
Sprint unlocked my Phone. After I insert SIM card from another Carrier, I've got a message "invalid SIM Card". It there somewhere some kind of FAQ or instruction, step by step preferred what I need to do next to make it work?
Thank you!

They unlocked it for international use.
Yes. I understand! But is this possible to make it work with the USA GSM carriers? If this is possible, can somebody help? Thank you!

Not really. I had my note 3 from sorint running on tmobile. But i only had edge and slow service bad voice calling. This phones hardware bands and software bands arent really meant for it. I had to modify the carrier info in my phone to get on tmobile alone. But ince there sorint didnt work anymore. A domestic sim card unlock isnt as easy as with gsm. With gsm the carrier info is practically just in the sim card. But with sprint CDMA it in the phone. Right now sprint sims are just for the lte and spark network. Not the actual use of the phone. So youre kinda out of luck sorry.

Ita bc the hardware is not made for it. The frequencies arent right. If you go to sprinta website the only phones they have that they can domestically unlock for any gsm are the iphones.

False, you can use the Verizon G4 on other GSM carriers. I popped in my T-Mobile SIM in, entered in the APN, and I had working data. The only downside is you get a SIM notification since it's not a Verizon SIM.

I had thought he meant bootloader. My bad
The Verizon G2 has unlocked GSM. Good to know the G4 does too.
Once we get root, you can remove the SIM notification.

I thought the Verizon G4 had band 2, but I can't pick up band 2 LTE on T-Mobile on 2G > LTE converted sites.

You can remove the "not a verizon sim" message by going into applications and disabling/stopping the "Activation Agent". The only thing is that you have to do it every time the phone restarts.
I have a unmodded Verizon LG G4 with Marshmallow 6.0. What would happen if I just took the sim card out of my ATT Moto X and put it in the G4?
Would I get anything close to LTE speeds? What wouldn't work?
If I rooted the V-G4, what would that help to do? It it necessary?
thx.
Well the phone is unlocked for GSM, so you should be able to use it on ATT. Just pop the sim and see.
In future, just check this website: www.willmyphonework.net
It works after inputting the ATT codes, but gets the "H" band instead of LTE.
Hi guys! I'm thinking about buying a g4 for my girlfriend and bring it to Mexico with me, I don't really care about root stuff but she does care about the wifi hotspot. I've read around here that foxfi app works for Verizon g4 even after the MM update .
So my question is if the Verizon G4 wifi hotspot with foxfi would work with a different carrier either in the us or overseas, has anyone tried to do that with a different carrier? Thank you!
Anyone ?
No it doesn't work. I have a Verizon LG G4 using a Telcel SIM card and data its ok (H+ or LTE), but the tethering is not active it keeps saying you need a verizon LTE SIM, even using Foxfi.
Me too, bad luck trying foxfi with Telcel sim.
