Hello guys, my HTC 10 (Verizon) is suffering from massive ideal battery drain. I leave it at 97% before going to sleep and when I wake up (after 6hrs) it's either below 30% or has shut down.
I'm on stock Oreo 8.0, no root. Version 3.18.605.13. I tried factory resetting it twice both from the reset option in settings and also from recovery, cleared cache partition from recovery as well but to no avail.
Also using greenify with aggressive doze on, doesn't help much. The battery runs okay as long as I'm using it, it goes nuts when the phone is placed on the table with the screen turned off.
Also I installed gsam battery monitor with adb and found kernalos to be draining the most battery. Then I installed BetterBatteryStats with adb and I'm posting screenshots of the results below.

My HTC One M8 dies in just about 12h-15h with screen on time of 3h-4h. It is connected to Wi-Fi network 90% of the time and I don't use a cellular data connection. Auto-Sync is on. Screen brightness is either 25% or 50% in direct sunlight. I am on stock 4.4.4 Rom software number 3.28.401.9
I haven't came across any other M8s so I don't know if the issue is just with my phone. But one of my roommate has an Xperia Z1 and a friend has SGS4 both get around 30h of battery life with moderate to high use. The standby time is not so good because I lose about 15%-25% battery in about 3h-4h everyday when I wake up in the morning. I've tried factory resetting my phone thrice but to no avail. I've installed GSAM and included the screenshots. I want to know if its normal and if not what can I do? Would re-flashing the firmware help?
Take a look in gsam > number of times being held awake or something. I think you have a process or app that is causing the issue. You can try resetting the device and install your apps back one by one to see which app is causing the issue.
Yup, you need to be rooted and have Gsam root companion installed. Then you can post times waking device and held awake time. That's where your issue is. Without root... It will be extremely hard to help. Could be anything. You have near 8 hours of awake time. That's really bad.
Hi,
During the past week I have a very strange problem in my Galaxy Nexus.
Battery suddenly started to drain very very quickly.
After 8 hours while I am sleeping in which 3G \ Wireless \ location services\ sync etc. are closed I lose 25-30% battery. (Before this happened I would have lost only 10% in this situation).
Of course while using the device the battery drains even faster.
Luckily I have 2 batteries and use both actively, second battery started act like the first, so the battery is not the problem.
In the battery usage screen there is nothing suspicious.
I installed Wakelock Detector and Better Battery Stats, everything is fine there too.
I have Greenify and I hibernate all the unnecessary applications.
I had a PA rom when it happened, then I switched to SlimKat, same problem. Then again I returned to the PA and the problem isn't vanished.
Between changing ROMs I've erased the phone.
I've also tried to put custom kernels but nothing helped me!
I have no more ideas, can someone please help?
Thank you very much!
I noticed this too, under battery info in settings I found the only culprit to be the latest/updated Google Play Services that kept preventing my GN to enter into deep sleep mode and the only way to fix it was to force close this service.
But then every once in a while it would start running again, so now I've just put a shortcut icon on the home screen to help quickly force close it from app info.
I'm running 4.4.2 Kitkat on my phone. I have been through 3 devices, the first one my screen cracked, the 2nd one kept overheating and my battery life was horrible, it had Lollipop, then the 3rd one they sent me the camera lens was scratched up and now the one I have now I've had for about a month maybe and I get maybe 4 hours of battery life. I have sync off, lux autobrightness which is usually set to night, location stays off, wifi is always on, knock-knock is off. I rooted using Kingoroot the other night trying to see if I can get bettery battery life and downloaded titanium backup, supersu, bettery battery stats, appopsxposed, xposedinstaller, twrp manager, wakelock detector, greenify, amplify, and powernap, I went to sleep and my battery was at 77% and when I woke up it was at 65%. I just uninstalled Facebook, Kik, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Swiftkey, POF, Accuweather, and Twitter. I go to my battery status and it's showing Android OS 25%, Screen 25%, Android System 15%, and com.androidsystemui 4%. I know that the Android System Processes shouldn't be in the top 4, not all 3 of them. I do have gsambattery montior, bootmanager, autostarts, performance profile, ds battery saver, and supersu also downloaded. Any idea as to what is causing this? It did it a few days ago and I did a FDR before rooting it and I'm trying to get better battery life. I used to be able to get 8hrs of battery life without having to charge it. Please help. I love the LG G2 but this battery life sucks. Please help. I'm new. What can I do to fix this? Would a FDR help?
Fully stock, no root. Had no issues with deep sleep before update. Updated from 1.30 to 1.80 via OTA and the issue has started.
After the fresh reboot device works fine and I can see that it goes to sleep via battery history.
Then I plug it to a charger overnight, unplug it in the morning and since then it will no longer go to sleep. Stats shows 100% awake. This can be fixed by another reboot.
So, I have to reboot every time I unplug it from the charger in the morning.
I didn't install any apps or change any settings since updating from 1.30 to 1.80.
Battery usage details shows that Android System is keeping the device awake and eating the most of the battery.
I really don't want to perform the hard reset and see if it would address the problem.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks, I did the analysis using the Battery Historian tool and it appears that *backup* wakelock is the case. Found similar report here: http://android.stackexchange.com/a/143275/2636.
Android OS bug report: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=207700
I think you can Block this Backup in Amplify.
The Problem is not the occuring, but the time it lasts.
Mostly it just happens a few times but lasts for hours. So amplify blocking it doesn't really help^^
No Deep Sleep
No deep sleep same problem.
any solution please
Hi guys i have my pixel 3xl and my battery is drain too fast when i dont use it in night fo exemple a left him 100% after 6hours i found him 70%
I chek if thers is an app in background and nothing i Factory reset it 3 times and same thing
Let it drain down to about 10%, and then check the battery stats to see what is high on the list. I get less than 1% an hour, and have for the longest time. Running Android 11 since beta 3, and now official.
Hi! I got exactly the same thing with my Pixel 3 and got the same issue, it seems like our device cannot deep sleep. Here is my battery usage and wake lock on EXKM (Running latest Kirisakura, screenshot attached)
Also mine, last night it was 100% then this morning, when i checked it, its already at 95%. Also i noticed that my 3xl now is draining too fast, any tips on regarding this to save or extend my battery? Thanks guys
First week(nearly) after factory reset or flashing img your google play services should drain too much battery which is normal as settings are calibrated, usage patterns adjusted, small updates installed etc.
Most battery issues are related to some rogue app, bad signal reception(it does not need to be full bar, even selected frequency by carrier or phone) or confused google play services. If it is google play then root needed to find root cause(pun intended )
For my case a full day with 1h+ gaming and whatsapp, phone and other stuff 4hrs sot and generally less than %20 percent battery at evening to start charging. You should be happy if you are near this values.
Hi! Thanks for the insight, I'll try to wait until a week and going to post an update here! Just curious because I can't find any information about the kernel wake lock that constantly occurring on my new phone
Edit 1:
So after a few days of searching, I found out the one who cause the deep sleep issue was my modified settings for the Entropy (I modify it via EXKM), after I set it back to default the Deep Sleep issue completely gone and I can stay 0.2 ~ 0.3%/hr when the phone is Deep Sleeping
I hope my issue can help you, and try to reflash it via fastboot with the latest (Android 10 / Android 11) pixel image just to make sure that there is no corrupted data
