Guys,
I used to be very good at rooting by in my HTC days (3 yrs ago). Not so much now a days :crying: I need some help.
I have the ATT LG G3 D850 (i believe) (16gb)
I rooted my phone a few months back. It was an app that did it quite easily for me. I downloaded and used root only apps like titanium back up with no problems.
I didn't download TWRP because at the time i don't believe it was available.
Anyways fast forward a few months and with lollipop out i thought i'd try to install TWRP and a rom that had android 5.0
I downloaded the TWRP app and then installed TWRP recovery through the app. (i listed my phone as D851 because i couldn't find D850 on the list)
Everything seemed to run fine and got a notification that the install was done successfully.
I tried to boot into recovery through the TWRP app and my phone did not boot! I get a message at the upper left corner of my phone that says:
: Boot Certification Verify
______________________________
Secure booting Error!
Cause : Boot Certification Verify
______________________________
and then my phone turns off.
What the hell did i do to my beautiful LG G3? Can someone help me fix this?
I greatly appreciate the help! This forum has always been so awesome!
You will probably have to reflash the KDZ - never choose a phone model unless its your actual device

Can you help Explain how I do this? What is KDZ?
You must check what exactly model you have. Then download a firmware in KDZ format and flash it through LG Flash Tool. Can't give you more details, because I never used that way of flashing new firmware
You flashed TWRP for the T-Mobile variant that ships with an unlocked bootloader, however your variant has a locked boot loader hence the boot Sig error. You need to flash back to stock with kdz and then flash bumped TWRP which works around the locked bootloader and allows you to flash Roms and kernals. You can download "bumped" TWRP here: http://downloads.codefi.re/thecubed/lg_g3/bump/, and here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/bump-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-d852-d852g-f400-t2900614

If i flash back to stock, will my phone be functional again? Or do i need to flash "bumped TWRP"
what is "bumped TWRP" ?
Your phone will be functional again if you flash back to stock afterward if you want to flash roms you need to then install bumped TWRP. Bumped TWRP is a special version of TWRP that has been patched to make it possible to use on variants of the g3 with locked bootloaders like yours, by tricking the phone into thinking it is booting stock recovery. This will allow you to flash Roms and kernals that have been "bumped" and apply mods like you would normally be able to with TWRP. Bump is basically a bootloader unlock for your phone that let's you flash roms, kernals, and Recovery's.
---------- Post added at 12:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 PM ----------
You do not need to bumped TWRP unless you want to, you need to use the LG flash tool to reset your phone here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190 and check the index linked above to find the .kdz for the tool

You need to download the correct .kdz file for your variant. The .kdz is the complete stock firmware from LG. Also, if you really have an AT&T LG G3 (D850) it is a 32gb not 16gb version. If your phone only has 16gb of storage then you do not have a D850 and you need to go to your software information in the phone to verify what model you have. Do not flash anything for another variant as you see where that leads. Check back and let me know when you find out for sure which variant you have and I will point you to a specific thread for your device with step by step instructions on how to use the .kdz method to return to stock, then flash a Bump'd TWRP recovery so you can make a nandroid backup and save yourself from this mess again. I am also unsure if the .kdz restore method can be done on Mac, but I'm pretty sure it cannot be done considering the program provided is a Windows executable. Best of luck.

I do have a windows laptop so i will attempt this on my laptop. Thank you so much for your help. I'll await your response.
All US Carriers for the LG G3 are 32gb models.

I cannot point you in the right direction without having an exact model variant number. You obviously don't have a D850, but there are a few 16gb variants out there. I would hate to be the cause of you further bricking your phone. If you can dig through your information from the retailer you bought the phone from and give me an exact model, then I can help you without worrying about screwing you worse than you're already screwed.

The model number is listed on the IMEI sticker that's underneath the battery. My model says VS-985W since I have a white Verizon G3. Yours should say some model that starts with a D. This same number should also be plastered in multiple locations along the inside edge of the phone once the battery cover is removed.

Ok, so the white sticker underneath my battery says LG-D850. There's also some D850 small white markings on the body of the phone.
The sticker on the box that my phone came in says "SW Ver D85010d"

Can you post a screenshot or two of your Storage page? The D850 is the AT&T model but they only come in a 32gb ROM / 3gb Ram storage option. All U.S. variants are of this variety and you should have access to 32gb of internal storage.

Sorry about repeatedly asking you to get information from your phone, too many different posts to keep up with!

That link has everything you need to restore any variant back to stock. From there, you can root and Bump it if you want. Just download the KDZ from the link given in the OP of that thread. Make sure it says its for the D850 and try to find the earliest version possible if there are multiple options (eg. 10b instead of 10d if possible).

Just wanted everybody to know that you CAN downgrade your MM LG G4 for Verizon by using LGUP.
And this is how...
1). Download all The Files Below!
1) Firmware Files - Click HERE!
Or Here LGKDZ.com for your exact match KDZ for your model
2) Download LG Drivers - LG Drivers Here - 10.9 Mb
2.1)Verizon Drivers (Verizon Only)LG_VZW - 7.8 Mb
3..LGUP can be found on this website LG UP DOWNOAD
You have to sign into one of your accounts and like the page for them to open the downloads in the middle of the page.
4. install the drivers then the .msi file for LGUP. Usually there is a DLL file and the LGUP application, install the .DLL file then install LGUP.
5. First make sure that your phone is showing up on LGUP, if not make sure you have USB debugging enabled and the you are connected with MTP.
6. Find your .kdz file, and don't press start VERY IMPORTANT!!, Exit out of the application and then REOPEN LGUP and your 13b.KDZ should still be in the box at the bottom.
7. Now just press start and wait for it to do it's magic.
And now your back on LL and you can get back to rooting this phone.
And just so people know it is not possible to downgrade from LL to KK, it will brick your phone for some reason, and trust me I had to send mine back and get a knew one, nothing would get it to work again!
So that's how you get back to LL from MM, which seems to be the only way to have root at the moment...
One more thing, I was able to transfer the files for the effortless root on MM but you can't do any send_command.exe commands because it just says FAIL. but it did switch the system software from Official to Modified so it did something just not what I wanted it to do....
If there's anyone wondering why this works, it's because both the 13b and 24c kdz's both have the same qfuse number, so the bootloader accepts both without bricking. If Verizon ever puts out an update that increments the qfuse value and you take it, you won't be able to downgrade to 13b or 24c.
I have the kdz file but it wont let me put it on lgup. It's looking for a .tot file. Help would be greatly appreciated
Nevermind. Figured it out
would this work with h811

Thank you for the info! Just curious: how do you check the value of qfuse?
I did this on a Canadian variant H812 and it worked. Rooted right after and that worked too. I am a happy camper.
I loaded H81210n.
Anyone reading do note that I did not use the Verizon files above.

What you must do is tick the update and select the kdz file. Then close LGUP, open it again and select refurbish and kdz file should be there. Start the load.
This phone with L and root is perfect. No M for me until root (if it happens). Really enjoy having the changed DPI with root and no permanent notification for Priority mode.

I haven't done it just yet. And I know I'm not the smartest here. But to my knowledge yes you will lose everything. So always good to back up all your files. I've got all my photos backed up to google photos. over 5000 lol. But yeah from what I understand it's the same as doing a factory reset except instead of factory resetting back to MM you're factory resetting to LP.

Hi guys
Recently i bought my girlfriend LG G4. Now I think it's from Singapore, and I totally have no idea, how to update it. I have 5.1 now, and of course I wanna 6.0. Using automatic option from smartphone still showing "up to date". LG bridge is finding some firmware, but after downloading, at 1% i got error. LG UP always saying, that's bad kdz file ( I download 4-5 of them). When i'm trying to check version by IMEI on devtester, I get nothing. I have no clue what could i do next .

Go into Settings > About Phone > Software Version - at the bottom of the tab click on 'Software Version'. It should give you a version with 10(?) in it (last few numbers in the string). Okay, I'll check. Tell me only, because I'm not a native speaker in english, what do you mean by "carrier" in this context? And thank you for your interest - I was searching help in the biggest android forum in my country, and nobody was enough kind to respond .
Anyway, this is worst present I ever made to someone . First of all i was waiting 2 months for package, second problem with battery in theoretically brand new phone and now this soft issue. Well, I'll stay with Samsung s8 for myself than g6 .

By carrier, I mean the wireless company that provides the phone/texting services to your phone ... if the phone wasn't bought from the original services company.
If it was, the other option might be to try a factory data reset to see if it allows the update to 6.0 to come through automatically - you will have to back all your data first, otherwise you will lose it.

Read somewhere that LG flash tool working only with 5.1, not 6.0. About version - except 20b, i have also european so if first will work, i'll next . I know that i can't root phone with 6.0 but first of all - it's for my girlfriend and i think, that she don't care. Second - with quite long history with android, i never rooted any of them. I never saw a reason and also i'm bit scared when we're talking about more complicated actions . Anyway, thanks for advice. We will in next 5 hours if i finally get 6.0 on this phone

You're lucky you have the European version.. you have no idea how much hassle I went through to get that version...
So anyways, since your bootloader is unlockable, I recommend you unlock it first, prior to flashing anything mentioned by sdembiske.
I recommend you also root the phone and install TWRP, just incase something goes wrong while flashing, you can easily recover the phone, and not have it completely destroyed.
Once you have rooted, unlocked bootloader, and installed TWRP, you can safely do literally anything on the phone
Flashing the rom can easily make your 700USD device worth 0, within seconds... so Please .... take the precautions.... and install TWRP
Cheers

LG Flash Tool has many more bricking issues than LGUP-NEW. If you ever decide you want to roll-back to 5.1, LGUP-NEW will throw up a roll-back version error if one is present - LG Flash Tool will not and will result in a bricked phone. Overall, your best and safest bet is to use LGUP-NEW.
One note: There are fraudulent sellers of supposed H815's out there and as you bought yours through auction there are no guarantees. To be on the safe side I would check with the seller to see if you can ascertain if he was the original owner and ask where the phone was purchased (what country) and who the original carrier was.

Before you do anything, be 100% sure what variant you have. To do so, please enter the following codes in the phone's dial pad:
*#546368#*815#
*#546368#*500#
If the first one works, you have the H815, if the second one works, you have the F500K ...

Power down the phone, pull off the back cover and take out the battery. There should be a white tag under it - make a note of all the letters and numbers there. Provided the tag hasn't been tampered with, it should provide a good idea of what model you have and help narrow down your search for a kdz/tot that will work. I would still check with the seller of the phone and seek some verification. If the auction site is reputable, you may have some recourse if the phone is not as it was sold as.

Hey buddy, let's check whether your bootloader is unlockable before you do anything. Please download ADB (Android Debug Bridge)
Before we do anything, make sure "Enable OEM Unlock" and "USB Debugging" options are enabled.
Once you install ADB, open Command Prompt (Press Windows Key + R , then type 'cmd' and press Enter key)
Issue the following commands:
Code:
cd C:\adb
Code:
adb start-server
Code:
adb devices
At this point, your device should show up under the list of devices. If it doesn't issue the following commands to restart the ADB server:
Code:
adb kill-server
Code:
adb start-server
Then, check again whether the device is being detected
Code:
adb devices
If the device is not showing, please check whether drivers are properly installed
If the device is being shown, you can proceed to the following command:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
If the device just boots back to Android, then the bootloader is locked, and you could have any device aside from the H811 or H815 European version
If it boots into the bootloader, then you have either the H811 or the H815 European version, and you should be able to easily root, install TWRP and flash any variants kdz file.
Now, if you have got this far without booting back to Android, time to unlock bootloader:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Once complete, issue:
Code:
fastboot getvar unlock
If you get the message "Unlock: Yes", then you have successfully unlocked bootloader.
Hope this helps

Please unzip and put in C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\common

Damn.
I had it working with 1.14, but I thought I had the wrong version. So I uninstalled it.
Now I can't get it to load - wrong dll for VS99620a.
Plus I wanted the developer version of LGUP.
Pretty sure I need the Partition option to flash other-model KDZ.
Hi there,
I need some help because i fell so stupid.... I cannot use the patched DLL for uppercut in order to flash the newest Oreo KDZ for H930...
I installed LGUP 1.14, USB DRiervs, etc... Download and uncompress uppercut 1.0.0.0. I downloaded the patched DLL 1.0.31.9. Even if I copy that dll on the uppercut folder or wherever i copy, the version shown on LGUP is always the 1.0.28.9... SO I cannot flash the latest Oreo KDZ
Help please?
thx in advance
you have to run lgup.exe not uppercut shortcut.

Hi, has anyone been able to revert back to N from O, please? I upgraded my H930DS (Hong Kong) to the Open Euro 20d ROM, but haven't been able to go back to N using either the patched LGUP or UPPERCUT (… I'm not happy with the limitation on the use of the dual SIM). Thanks, but I think the operative word in that quote is "should". I've tried that method with the phone in download mode and with it in its normal operating mode, but LGUP no longer recognises my phone model. I can get the LGUP pop-up with the serial port but the pop-up shows the phone as an unknown model, which I guess is the issue preventing the firmware update.
The version of LGUP_common.dll that I'm using is 1.0.35.3, which should be the latest. Its digital signature is dated Tuesday, 19 December 2017 3:33:29 PM. Its MD5# is c3df15812c1294028bfd330eb725519b.

Here is the reply I received from LG about reverting to Nougat (I asked them to do it for a fee):
"Dear Peter,
Thank you for contacting LG Customer Support. I apologise, but please be advised that we cannot put back your the previous software of your phone.

Mr3p thanks for the quick response and this agrees with mostly everything I found on line. What's causing my confusion is I have a toggle in Settings/systems/developers options: enable OEM unlock. I can use adb to boot into fastboot without any trouble but the only patched image (patched_boot_10b.img) i have is for LM-710EM ver V10b. I want to make sure it is compatible with 710ulm. my full version number V10b-LAO-COM, Build# OPR1.170623.032. I would appreciate any input you have on this.
thanks

cheeze.keyk is correct that the G7ULM can be remote unlocked by loading a V35 engineering bootloader in place of your current bootloader. If you are comfortable having someone remotely access your phone via PC then it can be done, see link he referenced. My comments were regarding unlocking via normal LG unlocking process.
I'd have to look up that version number but doesn't match up with G7ULM. Can you do a screen shot where you are seeing it in your phone?

@ValKyre thank-you for the offer but i'm sorry but I'm not willing to grant remote access.

Unless I missed something, that's the first you've mentioned that your phone is Sprint model. It may be out there somewhere or you may have better luck searching however I looked for Sprint .kdz a couple of weeks ago but couldn't find one. You haven't mentioned your wireless provider so it's hard to make a recommendation but if you can't locate Sprint model firmware, I would flash the phone with the latest G710ULM firmware as that's the carrier unlocked version and should have the greatest compatibility. I vaguely recall reading someone taking a phone like yours back to a Sprint store where they were able to flash the phone back to Sprint firmware so you might consider trying that also.

@mr3p you're correct I just learned it was sprint model when I went to lg's site to download the firmware to revert it back as you suggested with lgup. It states that sprint, and all the major USA carrier's, can't be flashed. I Will give the 710ULM firm ware a try. I'll let you know how that goes. BTW thank you again for your help, Zb

@MrP3 thank you for your input, after soft bricking the phone I found the correct DLL for LGUP and was able to upgrade to ver lg710ulm2g. this version still comes with the bootloader unlock option in the developer menu> i'll continue to research/play with it to see if root is possible.

I am confused. If your phone is Sprint IMEI do you mean that it was a Sprint G7 loaded with ULM software? If your phone is Sprint model are you saying that ULM firmware is the only requirement to achieve root?

I had the J version 9G710ULM10j_00_NAO_US_OP_0219.kdz) but that is what bricked me, the only update that took was [GFI]G710ULM10g_00_NAO_US_OP_0913. I am making the assumption that the same 'LGUP Common DLL' should work regardless kdz file I use. I just can't seem to find a newer firmware file that doesn't stop after 11%.

Did the failed firmware load occur with the windows app or command line as suggested?
