I setup a replacement device last week and the initial Fi setup the Maximize Coverage process failed. I'm now stuck on T-Mobile with full access and US Cellular with only 1x data. Phone will not connect to Sprint correctly at all. When force switching a "Sprint DM Configuration" message appear and after several tries it fails and locks the SIM card. It will show bars but if I place an outgoing call I get a recording telling me to contact Sprint customer service to set my phone up until I reboot the phone. I've been on Fi since the Nexus 6P launched, have been through multiple phones and factory reset setup processes and have never seen this. Sat in a chat with a rep for hours last Friday that did not fix anything. It took a week for a teir 2 tech to send an email requesting logs. Who knows when I'll get a fix from them.
Has anyone ever seen this or have any idea at all what to do. Dialer codes don't work. Clearing data/cache on Fi app doesn't work. Fi Switch repair options don't work. Removing Fi as the network from setting doesn't work.
Are you rooted? Try the Fi Switch app.
I would also try clearing data and cache from both the Google Fi app, and the sim manager. Reboot and open the Fi app to get connected again.
This was finally resolved by Fi. The only way to get this fixed was Google Fi has to have the phone manually added to Sprint's database. I was offered an option to get another replacement device to speed things up bu decided to wait until this was fixed.
I tried to use Fi for my business line, was just too buggy, use Verizon for Biz and Fi for personal.
I'm having this issue I can get 1x with Sprint that's it. So you just have to contact Google Fi Support?

Or, you could just install Signal Spy from the Play Store and accept the permissions, then launch repair from the dialer codes menu. Should fix it. Signal Spy is a must with Fi, IMHO.

So, I've scoured the internet hoping to find a solution to my problem but I had yet to find a single thread to actually help. Okay so I have a 4.0.2 ICL53F Galaxy Nexus under Fido in Canada. My phone is rooted and is currenly bluffing as a T-Mobile phone through the Market Enabler App. I have the lastest APK of Google Wallet but everytime I try ot open it I am greeting with this message...
"Hardware not supported. Sorry, this device is not yet supported. We are wroking to add support. Please check Market later for updates."
This is NOT a banner to avoid the confusion I've seen in the answering of other peoples posts who had similar problems. This is a window that appears when I first open the program and the only option it gives me is to exit the program. I would show a picture but forum rules prevent me, a new member, from doing do. So if anyone has had this and solved it please help me out.
Only works in US
you can download by tricking the market but when you open the app the sim tells Google wallet the truth about where you are

From what I understand no. That just lets you download it. Same with manually installing it. There is something in the app that checks region or something along those lines. A user in Florida hasn't received his sim card yet and said it wouldn't let him use it so it checks something maybe carrier I'd. Not sure just thinking out loud

Not sure this will help...
But have you tried to turn off the cellular radio, remove your SIM, and connecting only using WiFi? Part to the process to provision your GW Prepaid card reaches out and talks to Google and Money Network. It's possible it's seeing the packets coming from a non-us carrier or the carrier ID from your SIM? Too bad you don't have a prepaid SIM from TMO or ATT there to use to provision your wallet. Hope this helps.
wallet will not work in canada google is adding support in a few months though. it was just on global news 3 days ago

I don't believe it will work without being able to access the SIM. I have airplane mode and wifi turned on for most of the day and Wallet will never work with Airplane Mode enabled. Works fine when Airplane Mode is off, either over wifi or mobile data.
I use it here in bermuda,
Clear clache of google wallet. if that doesn't work delvik cache too
Download Market Enabler set it to US cell carrier -open it before you open google wallet
set up a VPN for the US
I have one. I use "myprivatenetwork" google it.\
it gives you instructions.
Open google wallet set it up turn off vpn. voila
google wallet works.
you can turn off the phone it will still work as long as you do not clear the cache for wallet.
Stupid question.. but have you enabled NFC on your phone? Although you cannot top up your google prepaid card here in canada anymore, you can still use $10 that google gives you for free for just enabling wallet. And Yes, it works. I have it working on my GNex running on Telus.
I just tested this again. without carrier faking using market enabler, I get exactly same message as you. however if I fake my carrier to (us) T-Mobile, my google wallet open up just fine.
Move to the USA.
This question is for those of you like me that use more than one phone with a single SIM card. Sometime I travel and switch my SIM to another older phone I have around so if I lose phone #2 traveling I still have my newer/better phone. I know I'm not the only one to do this If I put eSIM service on Pixel 2XL, can I put old SIM card in Pixel XL and continue service on that phone while traveling. Is there a way to temporarily disable eSIM?
Hmm, interesting question.
I went with eSIM on my Pixel 2 XL yesterday, allow me a few hours to fire up my Pixel XL (which is currently powered down but still has the physical SIM card in it) and see if the Project Find app can reactivate service on it - and then move service back to the eSIM on the Pixel 2 XL again.

I hope Pixel2 can ultimately support dual SIM (eSIM and physical SIM) simultaneously with eSIM opens up to all carriers (not just Project Fi).

I am in a similar position and asked Project Fi pretty much the saem question. My Pixel XL 2 is on esim now but I want to be able to switch back adn forth from att and project sim (depending on which of my phones I will be using.)
They said that yuo can put an ATT SIM card into the phone, go thru sim setup to activate it - and later take it out and re-establish the ESIM when you wnat to use it on project Fi again. It will just take you back thru the saem setup process you went thru when you initially turned on the ESIM.
Pretty straight forward I think.

Thanks. I removed the fi sim from the XL2 and cleared data and cache in settings/apps/project fi and went back to fi app and set up esim so phone is good now. I need to see what happens when I put old sim into XL, haven't done that yet but I assume when I go into fi app all I have to do is reactivate service on that phone and it will be active (and disconnect service on XL2).
I was wondering the same question
The old physical SIM is now disabled. The eSIM has taken its place. The only way to go back to a physical SIM is getting a new Fi SIM and activating service on that SIM. There is no difference between eSIMs and real SIMS other than the eSIM is virtual and issued 'on the spot' during setup.
If you guys run the Project Fi app for setup, you'll see it's asking if you want to "Move your number to this phone" => transfer main phone to this eSIM an cancel original main SIM OR "use this phone alongside main phone without calls or texts" => make the eSIM be just a data SIM in the account.
In summary, if you are planning of using only the Pixel for Fi alongside some local/USA carrier it makes sense to transfer your main SIM to the eSIM. Otherwise it maybe be better to keep the original regular SIM.
I finally tested this. I had new esim service in new P2XL and old sim in PXL, old sim disconnected of course. Turned off P2XL and booted up PXL, had notification from fi app that service has been disconnected do I want to activate, pressed activate. It took a minute then fi app said do I want to maximize service, I said yes, another minute and I have service. Checked what network I'm on and it says Verizon, that's weird so I make a call and it rings VZW customer service, I hang up. Reboot and it comes up with Sprint this time and service is normal and I can make calls on fi.
I then turned off old phone and turned on new P2XL, it asks me the same exact questions do I want to activate service, I say yes and let it do its thing and reboot and have fi on that phone w/ esim. So for now it looks like we can use old sim in other phones w/ fi but that could change.

This was not my experience:
Powered down Pixel 2 XL, which was activated using eSIM three (3) days ago
Powered up Pixel XL (which I performed a wipe/reset on before I powered it down), which still has the Fi physical SIM in it
Pixel XL booted and tried to auto-activate on Project Fi; hung for a ~three (3) minutes before failing and asking me to hook up to wi-fi & sign in to a Google account
Connected to wi-fi & signed in using the Google account the Project Fi subscription is associated to
Project Fi attempted to activate again; hung for ~three (3) minutes before reporting: "Activate service later. Unfortunately your Project Fi service can't be activated right now. You'll be prompted to activate as soon as you've finished setting up your device."
Completed initial login on Pixel XL; had a Project Fi notification which read "Project Fi not fully activated. Tap to finish activation."
Tapped this notification which took me back to an "Activating..." screen which hung for ~three (3) minutes before failing with the following error: "Contact us. Unfortunately, your Project Fi service can' tbe activated due to an issue with your SIM card. If you need help, call 1-844-TALK-2-FI. Code: T077."
Powered down Pixel XL
Powered up Pixel 2 XL and confirmed Project Fi service was still activated/operational on eSIM.
In short, my experience is that one would need to engage Project Fi Customer Service in order to move from eSIM to physical.

With this phone, and the eSIM, you can switch between physical SIM and the eSIM. I first setup my phone on Sprint, but wanted to try out Project Fi without giving up my existing Sprint plan. It took some work and some calls, but both services are active, and to switch I use the dialer code *#*#switchsim#*#*. There is an option in the settings area, under Mobile Network then Carrier, but it does not seem to work all the time. I'm not planning on keeping this setup long, especially since on Fi I cannot use a Sprint connection, as I was told that my phone is still registered on the Sprint service. When I try to connect to a Sprint tower through Fi, I have no data. So while this is not an actual dual SIM phone, it appears that it can function as such, so long as you use Fi, and the second network is not Sprint or T-Mobile (or US Cellular.)
I don't think this applies to the original post, but I just wanted to share my findings in case can help anyone.
I asked Project Fi support if I could use the e-sim for data only and the sim slot for a call/text.
they said e-sim is only for full service (call, text, data).
Hoping Tmobile will support e-sim soon

So your saying if I popped a Verizon SIM in the physical slot and pushed my personal number to Fi it'd function as a true dual SIM??? That'd be amazing. My current setup Is a OnePlus 3T with my personal ATT and work Verizon SIMs. Verizon doesn't get data cause the 3T is missing Verizon band 13. I still get texts and calls though.

No. It is not possible to have both SIM and eSIM active at the same time, it is one or the other.
You can switch between them at will, but both will not be active simultaneously.

You'd have to ask Google. And I have not seen anything via root to enable it.
Got the LG G8 unlocked Amazon Alexa edition last August (2019). I use it with Sprint. I love the phone and it worked great, until a month ago.
All of a sudden, I can't make or receive phone calls or text messages, but I DO still connect to the Sprint cell service (I have bars) and I DO have working 4G LTE Data. Literally, one day it worked and the next day it didn't. I hadn't powered cycled the phone or anything between it worked and when it suddenly didn't. It just stopped working.
When I try to call out, the dialer gives me an "Out of service area" message, even though I'm within my service area. When someone tries to call me, it goes straight to voice mail as if my phone is turned off, except that my phone is turned on. When I try to send a text, it sits at "sending" indefinitely and never sends. When someone sends me a text, I simply never receive it.
Sprint, I do firmly believe, has done everything they can to troubleshoot it and proven it's not a network issue. Several different kinds of resets, including a factory reset. I was able to reactivate an older LG V20 on my account and it works just fine.
The phone is still under warranty with LG, and I was able to send it in for repair at no cost, but they did not find anything wrong with the hardware. They did do a software update of some sort, but that did not resolve the issue.
So now I'm essentially stuck between both Sprint and LG saying it's the other's issue. First unlocked phone I've ever bought and it bites me in the butt.
Any other ideas for troubleshooting either on the phone itself (beyond all the standard stuff which I've already done; I mean, if a Factory Reset doesn't help...), or with Sprint?
Thank you!
I had the same problem with Amazon variant. I used an app called Hidden Settings Muiu and went to "Phone Info" then switch the Preferred Network Type to LTE only leave it on there until it says LTE on data and no network on Voice then switch to LTE/CDMA and it get 1xRTT. Ive tried tweaking settings and everythingelse but no luck that seems to be 100% effective but anytime you **** with your network or restart you'll have to do that.
Edit: Do Global(PRL) then LTE only then to LTE/CDMA. Otherwise itll stay on EvDo for data not LTE.

Did try that and gives me data but no cell service. Thank you though
Had same problem from a newbie...
I used ##873283# with dial key pad. It took a few times but finally worked. As soon as you power off or restart your phone, your back to where you started.
I bought mine from bestbuy 1 1/2 yrs ago. They are having lg send me a new one...
Lg v8 thinq This is the model I had* LM-G820QM.
Good luck.
Had my settings on LTE/cdma with roaming turned off.
I can't seem to call anyone from my contacts or otherwise. I just get a call ended prompt as soon as I call someone.
It doesn't happen when the caller on the other end is with the same network operator as I. Also, the helpline number for my operator when called, tells me that the number doesn't exist dumbfounded to say the least.
I am on the global 12.5.2.0 (RKHMIXM) ROM.
All worked well till yesterday btw.
I have tried the following:
1. Changing network preferences from 2g all the way to 5g.
2. Clearing all data on Phone and Phone services via app settings.
3. Tried calling with wi-fi off.
4. Tried calling with cellular data off.
5. Tried going into airplane mode and reconnecting to my network operator.
6. Rebooting the phone.
7. Turning off the phone and then restarting.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.
Regards,
SAN
Have you done any portability application to another network with the same number maybe? It's probably your network provider and not the phone. Of course you can factory reset and check again.
Call them again so you speak with another representative and check again your number and maybe reset its network settings.
Finally what will solve it for sure is to contact them and disconnect the number and then reconnect it but this is complicated.

I don't want to factory reset tbh, I will lose all my app settings and security camera settings, it's a pita setting those up.
No to portability from another network. I will try calling them from a landline tomorrow and if not try getting a new SIM card since mine is pretty old.
if google phone dialer settings assisted dialing make sure correct country is displayed if it is turn it off and try placing a call then it should work and then you can re-enable it.

Second update. It resolved itself. Started today and got resolved by itself.
So I am definitely thinking it was a network issue after all. Thank you for your prompt response, highly appreciated.

It was on. Shows detect automatically but doesn't show the name of my country. But it seems to have been an operator issue at their back end. Resolved itself.
Hello my friends, I have a question. I have Google Fi, SIM Card is downloaded and everything should be working, however, data does not work and it does not matter if I have wifi or not running. Google Fi just have 0 signal whatsoever.
Phone is P6P. I live in Czech. Literally just today I was reading news that 5g should work in Czech, with Google Fi, however no matter what I do, I'm still without signal at all.
Google Fi was activated with VPN, since Fi is not officially here in Czech.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I already manually tried change the network with no luck.
Thanks for any ideas / help

Yes I did. We did tons of fixes, been chatting with him for 2 hours, with no luck. I can only send sms from google Fi. But wifi or 4g (other physical sim) must be turned on to send it. Otherwise won't work.
