Hello. I have been using Omni ROM on my GT-n7100 for 2 months and a few days ago my phone started to not react to charging. For example it shows that it is charging, but percentage is not rising. I have tried everything. even reflashing rom to newer (omni-4.4.2-20140510-n7100-NIGHTLY.zip is my current rom) . But it did not help. What should i do?

Have you tried a stock ROM or a different custom ROM. That will help determine if is it a hardware failure.
Get "Galaxy Charging Current Lite" app and check if it's charging at low rate or not charging at all.. it might be caused my the hardware maybe the charger

I'm also having this issue, very frustrating. I recently bought two new Galaxy Note 2 charge at a rate of anywhere from 200-800 mAh, when the amount they should be charging is 1800 mAh. Looking for a fix.
So I tried a Motorola turbo charger which has QC2.0 capability on my HTC one m8.
Got a full charge in 2hrs 10 min.
That sums it up, we don't have the technology enabled to save the battery from deteriorating.
I'm on stock UK Rom.
Cheers.
The question is how fast did it get to 70% from dead, the charger slows down as it gets closer and closer to full.....
Here are some screen shots. Tells you how fast it was charging.
Sounds the same as the stock charger. The phone will only draw as much current as it's made to draw. More powerful chargers won't change that. ?
Yeah, people said it supports qc1.0 but it is not.

HTC has yet to enable quick change 2.0 on stock roms, so unless you install a custom Rom/kernel you won't see any difference over the stock charger. And I'm not even convinced that they don't need a firmware update too.

It seems to work if battery temperature is 35 ℃ or less. I was gaining two percent per minute when battery was cold. Could be just thermal efficiency though.
Hello everybody,
I'm planning a quite long road trip in some days, and noticed recently that my battery drains "quickly" using the GPS (with Sygic app) when the phone is plugged.
The route will be something around 12h, and I can clearly see that the phone will not stand this long (tried using Sygic in simulation mode).
It happens also when using some apps like i-display, the phone won't last forever when plugged.
Is there any thing I can do to prevent this drain, like disabling/closing apps (which ones / how to detect ? method ? any tools ?), or even changing my rom (don't know if the rom can be the cause).
I've also seen this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512421 . Can it be related ?
I'm running on Resurrection Remix 5.5.7
For closing apps, I tried force closing facebook/twitter... in the application setting, but they always reappear.
Thanks for help.
you can turn off screen and set it to give voice guide or turn off screen on long, straight part of the trip.
usb charger in car is about 5 times less powerful than standard wall charger.
the only thing you can do is get car inverter to plug normal charger
I'm pretty sure that I did not have this issue when I was using my phone as a GPS a while ago, when I had a Samsung based rom (dito note).
But it sounds strange that my current rom drains more than the one with all Samsung additions, no ? (Even though I noticed a small loss in battery life ... should I test an other rom ?)
Or maybe the battery is getting old ?
I did my "simulation" test while plugged in a USB port of my desktop, how does it compare to a car charger ?

Even I get less power, even while using a wall charger on a cm ROM, to the extent that the phone discharges when if is plugged in even at 30% brightness. This is even after using Agni kernel (and without also). I downloaded a free app from the play store "galaxy charging current" from the play store and the app helped me figure out that I get different charging rates with charger and cable combinations. But even then the best I have been able to get is 1400 ma( that too not consistently) after using a new cable. Maybe the charging port itself has become faulty due to accumulation of carbon(don't know to to clean it without risk of damaging it!)
If it helps, I can confirm that this also happens on a full stock 4.4.2 Samsung ROM. On a 1A output, with 100% brightness, GPS and Data Connection, the battery continues to drain instead of charge. Haven't tried with only 30% brightness and GPS, though.
I did a quick test this evening with a new rom : android 4.4.4 Eclipse V4 , not installed many apps, had Sygic running a simulation, gps active and no data or wifi (like I would probably do while driving), charging on the usb front port of my desktop :no battery loss, the battery level fluctuated between 77 an 78% for 4 hours ... seems good.
I still try to understand where this difference comes from : touchwizz rom that better handles the stylus digitizer ? Android 4.x consumes less power ? Because I had less apps (so maybe less background apps) ? Samsung touchwizz has less power consumption then google now / cyanogen trebuchet ?
I like the idea to have android 5.x (latest version an feature), but this difference in battery time disappoints me a bit.
I'm no expert, but I suppose it all comes down to ROM optimisation. After all, you are comparing something made by a little team (or even by a single developer!) to something made by one of largest (if not the largest) smartphone makers! And I know that it is dissapointing to go from 6,5 hours screen on time (on stock) to 4 hours, but we can't have them all, right?
I totally agree with the point, but in fact, small team already do great jobs compared to the smartphones makers, just look at all the custom TW roms for the Note 2 : tweak, better battery, galaxy note 3&4 and s 4&5 features ...
What I don't understand, is why a rom like this seems to drain more energy than an android 5.x "stock" rom (shouldn't android 5.x have a better battery life btw, compared to 4.x ?).
Get a decent charger and a good cable. 2A charger is the minimum, and forget about cheap Chinese cables.
I had the same issues with both cheap chargers and expensive Nokia "2.1A" car charger (which I guess was no more than 1A in reality). Now I installed this in my car and forgot about these issues:
"DC 9V-40V 4 USB port 12 24V to 5V mobile phone pad Step Down DC 5V 5A Car Charger Power Supply" on Aliexpress (sorry, cant post links)
It's not good for such a phone not to have QC support, also I don't find any reason for ZUK for not putting the support. I've read in many threads that it's disabled in the kernel and some guy from zukfans tried to enable it and fried their phone. Anyway, I want to know if it is true? Please send proofs supporting your ans.
Can't believe, bcz its such a good phone. And if possible tell me why didn't they.
Regarding " why didn't they " I don't have any clue
But obviously it supports fast changing , btw below is the proof attached
Rom - citrus CAF 3.5
Kernel - heliox , btw most of the custom kernels and ROMs are QC enabled
@465swa What ROM is this ? Citrus by DD3boh doesn't have weather on lock screen AFAIK

What's your charger power input rating?
Despite flashing ROM+kernel, only kernel would do the job right? I'm using RR5.8.3 and is that usual battery temperature while charging?

Voltage goes up to 12 Volts during quickcharge, though I see +1000 miliapms in your screenshot, but I don't think it's actual. Does it take less time to charge now, then before?

Where did u se 1000 mili amps ?? Dat 27 % per hour ???
Coz I just connected the charger at 58% to show u actual current my phone is able to draw from charger .. nd charging rapidly doesn't shows up on normal charger nd phones without quick charge support .. as per mah knowledge ..

My phone charges with 1500mA @ 4.5 V.
And yours 2541mA @ 4.2V. Although your phone's charging fast, but not certainly through QC 3.0.

What rom nd kernel are u on currently ..???
What would be the charging speed on a QC supported device , I usually charge it to 80-85 % from scratch nd it takes less than 80 minutes .. I'm totally satisfied , overwhelmed !! :victory::victory:

Did you installed that kernel separately? I wanna test if it works with my ROM. Do you face any issues?

I u r interested in mah setup , according to mah knowledge till date the best setup would be lyk citrus 3.5 with heliox beta 2308 , greenify with aggressive doze nd motion sensors disabled nd finally kernel underclocked at 2078/1478 mhz respectively !!

Thats QC2.0 not 3.0.
My phone went upto 1800mA while charging @ 5.3V on lineage OS. I'm back to ZUI 2.5 though, kinda like the camera and snappiness.
That means Z2 is compatible with 10 watt input supply. Maximum voltage reached is 5.3V.
Kernel Developers need to scale up these figures gradually to attain maximum input capability. QC 2.0 has discrete power modes of 5V/2A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.67A. Snapdragon 820 is QC 3 enabled and is also backward compatible with QC 2.0, meaning , CAN'T WE EVEN HAVE FULLY WORKING QC 2??????

As I already mentioned , whatever the matter is I'm quite comfortable with what charging speed I get now .. btw how is the charging speed in zui when compared to custom kernels??
My Redmi note 8 charges very slowly with most custom roms. I'm using Mi fast charger, tried multiple cables, it still charges slowly. Any fix to that?

lot of things can be related
-battery percentage (if over 65% or 70% , the fast charge will stop and normal will be used)
-smart charge feature (some rom have this option and only normal charge will work at a defined value)
-kernel used (some can use fast charge and some have bugs)
-flash method (clean flash always recommandad)
