Does anyone have problem with swimming tracking on galaxy watch?
After 10 min of swimming, it says I burned cca 3995 kcal which is insane.
I tried it couple of time, and every time got same result.
Other types of workout seems to work fine
I've tested it yesterday 2x, same bad outcome. I waited for it to lock GPS before start. It recorded time 13 mins correctly, but 0 m distance, no route on map, and* a ridiculous calorie count (2300). Samsung health did a terrible job with the open water swim mode.

Gps can not work in or under water, so if you swim normally, with both arms in the water, it can't fix the hole time of swimming.
The cal count is really bad, that's true :/

Then what's the point of turning on the location in the swimming settings?

I don't know. Maybe if you swim the crawl it can work? But under water there is nearly no way to get a fix.

I just tried emulate swimming at home, after 5 arm movements and walking around 10m, I burned 300 kcal
I used swimming (pool) 6 min swim for 51kcal.
Active Watch not tracking swim distance in pool.
GW Active stopped recording distance/laps while swimming in pool. Eg. 30min Swim 0m. Any ideas for a fix? Thanks XDA

Just got the one a couple of days ago and I noticed that in things like Ingress and Maps, the GPS is not quite accurate. So much so it is 50 to 150+ feet off. Even standing still, the GPS will think I am moving.
I have everything enabled in the Location settings, is there something else I should look at??
Thanks.

My GPS is working fine so far. It's accurate to about 10-15 feet, which I think is par for phones. Are you using a case with the phone that could be distorting the GPS signal? Metal roof, anything of that nature?

Nope, no case on the phone. I noticed the problem while riding in the car. I wouldnt think it would be an issud there since my wifes S4 works ok in the same pkace.

Just opened up maps now, it's got me about right...technically has me outside the house, but I am close to the wall so /shrug. You might want to check the sprint/att/tmobile forums in case it's just a quirk of the HTC One itself but I can't say I've seen any trouble in the short time I've been using it.
hi all
I want please your opinion about some issue happent to me today.
On afternoon i use the gps on g4 and i put them on car base in front glass on my car.
The day was warm and the G4 after 35 minutes it showed me message for high temperature and warning me for if this continues the phone it will be shutdown.
After 3 minutes the phone it shutdown.
Before this i see the temp of cpu and it was only 56celsius.
But the phone on back had heat from the sun.
this is normally because on my old G3 never had this message and the temps arriving up το 80 celsius but the true is never used with the sun and summer days.
I want please some awnser because i have 2 days more to change it with DOA quarranty.
I must say i see on iphone forum the same issue with iphone 6 but i want to be sure before doing something.
Thanks.
Edit: After communication with the LG say to me this is normall and the phone it isn't create to work with high temps on sun and the G4 is the only model which has high temperature warning to protect.
But please tell me if this happent to another else.
Hasn't happened to me, but I know when my GPS is on the phone gets hot as well. Not as hot as my G3 got, but still hot.
Do you have the A/C on in your car or windows down? That would probably help

I had and air cooler but not in frond glass and the sun had very hot.
Maybe for that. The strange is the cpu doesn't have very high temp. Only 56 celsius. My G3 had 70+
Did it feel really hot?
Yes on back.

lots of threads here complaining from the heat issue and myself is one of the victims, G4 and the 808 chip is a joke

The true is the cpu is cold but other parts is most hoted.
My g4 never had ahain high temps.
It works up to 45 celsius and on antutu
the highest temp is 43.
Only sometimes the screen is hot when i use video recording or internet browsing but the same i had and on g3.
I believe my problem it comes from the hot sun because today here on my place we have 35 celsius and the back of myphone is heating to much.

my wife's G3 does the same thing. Things getting hot in the direct sun is not a manufacturing flaw, it's basic science.

Seems legit.
This has happened with almost every phone I've had. Drive a lot and I always have it plugged in when in car with streaming music, waze, screen on. With hot days they have shut down. Strangely enough that hasn't happened with the g4 yet despite it being in 90s here a lot lately. I assumed that since the g4 charges really slowly with screen on that that was why it never shut down.
It does indeed charge very slowly when it gets warm (screen on, etc). I've actually seen my battery level drop while on the charger.
Have anyone else overheating warning on G4?

Its actually an 805 chip.
My m7 and m8 are getting extremely hot in direct sunlight so that is normal. My g4 was getting hot even inside on a.c. so i got it replaced and the new one is much cooler but still is hot sometimes.
Trimis de pe al meu LG-H815 folosind Tapatalk
Let's hope with some software update all this issues will be fix them.
Its new phone and maybe we must waiting for these updates.
For me the only problem is the very very hot day.
Today i try it inside on bus when come back from work to my house.
I put the phone on glass with the sunlight to capture video 1080 and after 35 minutes the phone had 51 celsius max. The average temp on bus it was 27-30. I believe this result is fine
The bad for me is this cpu has the high temp on 60 celsius but its different technology (64bit) from the others like g3. My old G3 have sometimes up to 83 celsius.

What's an 805? The Qualcomm 808 cpu is in the LG G4.
In my case, the phone gets very hot in my bag, and the battery goes from full to empty in two hours. Google play services is shown to be the biggest user at 30%

Try to disable google now and some of the autosync accounts, just for testing purposes. I suppose it's looking for connection to update the accounts and google now. It could certainly also be that it's looking for your carrier signal.
Hi
for fun I played around with the HRM and started it without the LED facing anything. Only air. Why is my Watch showing a heartrate between 80-110 bpm ? There is absolut nothing to measure.
Is Huawei kidding us?
Please give a comment if you can confirm this behaviour.
..
Lol mine does the same. Well **** that sucks lol my s7 edge actually starts measuring when it i put my finger on it it even vibrates to my heart rate. I can confirm it's legit.. but the Huawei watch giving us a reading in midair is a disappointment
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
I can confim its totally accurate as long as u rest your arm still and the back is nicely connected to your wrist. Just checked the results with another medical HRM and its the same. Idle and high
I have problem with the HRM on my watch. The HR measuring is working well in rest mode, but when I start a training, the sensor measures my HR, but after 1 minute it stops working, and no HR data on my watch. The green leds are flashing, but no HR data. Anybody has the same issue? Or my watch is defected?
Did you follow the manual on how to wear the watch? There is a section for that. Placing the watch at the right place help the monitor to work more appropriately.
Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
I did a 2 hours hike today and after 50 minutes I had to remove the watch and wipe my wrist and the back of the watch to make the HR monitor work again. So to me it looks like it has a problem with sweat/humidity. This is a huge problem IMO, enough to return an almost perfect smartwatch.
Galaxy Watch uses optical heart rate monitor. These are pretty good & easy to use while measuring rest heart rate.
If there is moisture (water, sweat) between your wrist and the sensor, readings will be probably off or cannot be measured.
Because of this, these sensors are pretty useless at intesive training, where you get sweaty.
These are not really sport clocks. You can read more by googling "optical heart rate monitor"
It works well for me while playing soccer, so I detest the theory that this does not work while being sweaty

maybe you dont sweat much ? I lose more than 1 liter of water in 90 minutes while training.

It works great for me when I'm swimming tho.
I have to tighten it down before jumping in the pool, but I have not had any issues while submerged in water.

will give it a try Tuesday and will report back. Thanks for the advice.
same issue here. after 5min running the heart rate just shows -- sometimes it comes back after few minutes, but very unstable...
Hello
i found out that this happens when the heat rate hits exactly 100bpm and again at 160bpm. at that time the heart rate cannot be detected. very reproducible!
it has definitely nothing to do with sweating, moving or anything else.
once the heart rate gets a bit higher or lower than it comes back.
you can check that out by using the heat rate app in continuous mode or just use the app headset rate graphic and see what happens at 100 and 160bpm.
can somebody else confirm that?

went for another 2 hours hike and I had to wipe the back of the watch 3 times to "reset" the HR monitor. This is not acceptable IMO so Ill probably just return it.
I've had two Galaxy Watches and they exhibit the same behavior. If I move the watch further away from my wrist it helps a bit. It seems that it has issues during high intensity training where it'll just blank out for a bit. Overall it's still pretty decent and not enough to make me want to return the watch.
happened last while... sitting watching TV. I had a flatline every time I manually activate the HR monitor. Only a reboot could bring it back to life.
Many threads about this problem here: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Wearable-Tech/bd-p/wearabletech and on the EU equivalent.
Has anyone been able to get it working with a external chest strap?

I just got my GW 3 days ago. I did a test run today, and it seems to me that after my hr got to 104rpm, it lost reading.
SInce this is the only run I have tried with it, and it was raining, so I am not sure what is the actual cause. But your findings are really helpful, at least it gives another perspective!
Been over to the dark side for a while, but seriously miss the android flexibility and freedom, the only thing that is holding me back is the Apple watch 4, it's very good, but if I return to android, it will have to go. Just have a few questions about the GW.
Does it have a calendar/reminder watch face, I use this a lot on the AW.
I get a steady 2 days battery out of the AW4, just over a day if I go for a run and use the GPS. What can I realistically expect on the GW.
Is there a situp app that uses the gyro to count each situp for the GW
How comfortable is the GW to wear all day even in bed
When you raise to wake, does it turn the screen on instantly or is there a delay
Anyone using their GW for running, will the battery last a marathon 4 to 5 hours
Cheers

Not really on Samsung faces, but you can use Watchmaker to build almost all you want.

On same use than AW (AOD off) you can last 2-4 days.
Is there a situp app that uses the gyro to count each situp for the GW
Not see this in Samsung watch...

No issue, so no noticiable difference with AW.
When you raise to wake, does it turn the screen on instantly or is there a delay
Maybe just a little slow than AW ? AW is very reactive.
Anyone using their GW for running, will the battery last a marathon 4 to 5 hours
GPS usage is about 15-30%/ hours so not sure it last 5 hours...
One key issue with the GW is that it is not an android wear watch, but Tizon. Tizon has much fewer apps available and most of them are not free! As a long-term Hauwei watch user, I already regret about my recent GW purchase.
Yes. There is a situp exercise that is part of the Samsung Health app.
