Use titanium backup and freeze them that way you can restore them if need be
I was wondering this question also. I can see in TB that there are a hell of a lot of apps (bloatware?) installed by LG and also a hell of a lot of these same apps running when I view running tasks using the Task Manager app - i.e. taking up RAM, CPU cycles and battery!
Has anybody created a list of what LG apps do what and which are safe to be removed? (I'm guessing that ex G2 owners might have more information about this)
For instance, there is stuff like
Answer Me
App Updates (Can't we just use Play Store?)
com.qualcomm.xxxxx (I'm guessing this is stuff for the Snapdragon APU/SOC?)
EasyHome (The other home launcher that I have never used)
ELTest
Font Server
GNSS Test
GNSS Air Test (CDMA) (I do not and will never use CDMA as I am in Europe so do I need this?)
LG Backup
LG GNSS
LG Health (Can't access this unless ur using the LG Home Launcher I think)
LG IMS
LG Intelligent Agent (^^ Have no idea what most of these apps are or do vv)
LG MLT
LG PC Suite/Service (Do people use the LG PC Suite as I have never used any phone sync app (like Samsung Kies) as all I need is MTP/MSC access)
LG System Server
LGATCMD
LG SearchWidgetProvider
LG SmartcardService
LIA Informant
LIA MrGDBLogger
LIA S4URecommender
Music 4.20.12 & 4.20.15 (Why are there 2 versions of these installed?)
Quickset SDK
Remote support service (I tried to use this but it told me I needed to phone LG to get an access code? Is this service only for certain users?)
Smart Notice (If you are not using the LG Home launcher then do you need this? - I use Nova Launcher and I don't have an option for this widget)
SmartShare.Push
SmartShare.Cloud
Software Update (If u r rooted then this will be useless apart from notifying you that a new update is available)
WAP Service (Is this WAP as in Nokia 6630 WAP internet?)
Wfd Service
Widevine Keybox Test
I was on a CyanogenMod based ROM on my old phone and which only had the essentials installed, so the LG bloatware seems excessive especially since you don't seem able to access the LG apps without using the LG Home Launcher...unless I am mistaken?
I'm guessing that as soon as the bootloader is unlocked and custom ROMS developed then most of this excess will be gone.
Hello
Hello everybody I am new, I recently install a kitkat 4.4.2 cyanogenmod and I have notices that it doesn't have LG PC Suite/Service...
Could someone please give me a way to install this? Please?
Thank you.

I know I'm sorry, but I couldn't find anywhere else to post and I figured that it might be the same thing too, I don't think if you for example were to make a backup with titanium backup and were to upload it, me to download and restore it in my android system on my phone, it wouldn't work, I think it doesn't matter with phone, its like on windows, doesn't matter what components, matters to be the same brand (LG) and thats all.
I think! But again, I'm just a newbie.

AFAIK, (from experience with other phones in the past) you can just install the LG PC Suite in your PC and when it comes to connecting your phone it will send the PC Suite components to your phone for installation.

Ah, well in my G3 I was able to select an option in the settings which then asked me to connect the PC USB cable which then opened a web page on my PC to download the LG PC Suite, so that's the option you must be talking about. I believe then that the PC Suite is already installed on your phone and all it needs is the corresponding program on your PC to function fully?
Does your phone have the LG Update Centre? If so, the PC Suite app might be there?
If that doesn't do what you want then since you are wanting to use a CM based ROM (in which I would imagine that they have taken out most LG apps) and if you can't find the PC Suite stuff anywhere, flash a stock ROM then do a full TB then flash the CM ROM on top so then you can restore any LG apps/services you want.

Thank you guys for all your help, so lets recap what I need is to have the LG suite or Connectivity or whatever its called, service installed on my phone(in the app manager on ALL tab) so that when I connect my phone to the usb cable my PC LG Suite will see that there's a phone on the wire and connect.
Because as it is now, I don't have ANY LG software services installed anywhere on my phone and I have no options to select any kind of connectivity relating to LG Suite in my phone, in the stock you have through wifi or usb.
And you guys are saying that if I install a stock and then restore CM ROM I will have that service? But won't I have all the other crap services too? Or can I just do a Titanium Backup sweep and scrape them all off after?
Isn't there anything simpler I can do to get that 1 service? Like have someone back it up on their phone, upload it and me download it and install it? Backup with Titanium Backup and restore it to my system with Titanium Backup after download
Thanks!
Hello,
I am a screen issue with my Note 4 that requires me to replace my unit. In the past I have usually used TWRP to create a backup and they restore my phone on the new device. This note 4 is non rooted and does not have a custom recovery install. What would be the best method to perform a backup and restore where it either takes a current snapshot of my files, settings and applications so I can avoid redoing everything on my replacement unit? Thanks.
I *think* the best option is to use Helium but I'm not sure how much it'll backup without being rooted. I'll leave this for other people to chime in but I think you can looking at that app as well as "My Backup Pro".

I use Backup Message & Call to Email by Lucky Dog from the Google Play store (it is FREE). This can backup your call history and SMS/MMS messages either instantly or on demand. You can then restore them to a new phone.
You can also set up your photos to backup to Google+ (either automatically or on demand).
There are a lot of sync options using Google and you android phone that make it a breeze to switch from phone to phone.

Does Kies also back up app settings?
I'm looking for something to at least use until we can get root again and use Titanium.
Kies has come a long way since v1. I hated kies up until v2.5 but since then it doesn't freeze up nor eat all the available ram on your computer while running.
Kies is the best backup system available for nonrooted sammy phones.
Hi all,
I hope this is the right to post.
I am at the point of throwing my SM-T800 in the bin. This Samsung bloatware is getting beyond a joke.
I have been toying with the idea of putting a custom ROM on it just so that I can get rid of all this Samsung crap.
Do I need to go that far or can I just put a rootkit on the tablet or maybe there is some other way to achieve my goal.
At the moment I’m just looking for ideas. Anything that could help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Graeme.
I haven't had much of problem with this. One way to get rid of Samsung bloatware, is to go into settings > applications. Go through the list of every app. If you have no use for it, then delete it. If there is no delete option, like with flipboard or "internet", then disable it. This will stop all of its apps services and also will uninstall all of this apps' updates from the storage. Of course, the tablet will not become exactly "fast" after this because Exynos 5 Octa 5420 was a modest SoC, specially when coupled with the QHD screen. However, freeing up some space will be appreciated on the 16GB storage models.
PS: if there is no delete or disable option, click on the storage and at least delete cache and data. At least this will free some storage.

Hi Akopps
I think I may have not made my goal clear.
My aim is to get rid of any unnecessary Samsung software for no other reason than not having them tell me what I can and cannot do with my device. I have owned it for more than 3 years now and it is well out of warranty. I am happy with the performance. It meet my needs. Disabling their software and removing latest updates just seems a bit futile. Samsungs' "Kids Mode" app just updates itself and then wants to take control of what you see. I'm in my early sixties, no young children or grandchildren and with no need for "Nanny" Samsung to tell me what to do.
I just want to get rid of there "preloaded" software. After all, I own the device, why shouldn't I be able to remove the software?
Cheers,
Graeme
I have tried the same but was unable to use any of the how to.

I'd prefer something like system app remover or BK package disabler in case something is inadvertently removed that causes an issue. It can easily be restored.
Hi guys,
do you have a personal safe-to-remove apps list?
I've tryed following the ones already discussed in this forum section aswell as others but I've encountered some freezes/reboots. (For example by removing BBCAgent , BeaconManager and Context Service).
Thanks for your time and happy new year! (tab s still going strong after 3.5 years yay)

You need to flash superSU with twrp or odin I guess.

Tonyspo is mostly correct. Flash TWRP using odin, boot into TWRP, flash superSU. However, if you're only goal is to remove preloaded apps, I'd suggest taking ashyx's advice and just install BL package disabler from the app store. I use that on my Galaxy S7 and it works great.
I've tried odin, but in download Mode all of my PC's won't recognize the tablet. When booted everything is fine (but than I can't flash)
I've read its because Samsung removed the Option in the Rom to get root rights.
I've also tried Heimdall and I only get error msgs.

I guessing you're actually in recovery mode not download mode if the tablet is recognised when booted to the os.

There are some special tools like for example "MobiSaver" from EaseUS, but chances to successfully restore most or even some data are rather low.
Edit: I wouldn't recommend any of them, MobiSaver just was an example. IMHO most paid recovery apps are just pure scam.

I wouldn't recommend apps from Wondershare to anybody, they are often labeled as scam company on the net. Most of those recovery tools are kinda scam, their free test versions always find lots of data to recover, but the paid apps won't recover anything or produce lots of garbage.
Edit: Always make backups at least once a week of important pictures and documents!
Anyone have any luck with Titanium Backup on Android Q? Mine always boots, confirms root permissions, and then only shows a blank screen with "All Done" printed in the middle.

Beta 6? Titanium Backup v8.3.3? Pro or base version?

You are selling your soul.
With TiBu, you can make it never allow the internet access. So, all this info collection gets shut right there. You can't run Swift Backup in local phone only mode, you have to connect to your Google account within the app and they get access to pretty much everything about you.
Running Custom Kernel? If you dont have a customer Kernel to allow R/W access to the System folders etc then it wont allow you to uninstall apps.

Thanks for the link to the privacy policy. It doesn't seem good for those who care about privacy.
First of all, why should you have to allow an app to sign into your Google account to do backups? It makes no sense and serves no functional purpose. First warning sign.
But then, the privacy policy clearly says they collect personal information about you and share it:
We collect Personal Data such as your name, email address & if available, a link to your profile image.

Note the "such as," which means they are not even clearly spelling out everything they collect.
