Looking for a newer faster ROM - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I looking to upgrade my N5X's OS to something newer and hopefully faster.
Any recommendations? Or should I just factory reset and change kernel?
Best,
MoRoses

Most stable rom version for galaxy nexus?

Hi I'm new to this and flashed the latest cyanogenmod 5.1 to my android looking to upgrade the old girl. I'm not happy with the performance though. WIFI doesn't work at distance and it seems to hang when connecting to wifi and data.
What's a good stable rom? or should I just go back to the old one?

Best version of Android to run?

So my wonderful OnePlus One recently bit the biscuit which means that I'm going to be going back to my trusty Galaxy Nexus as my daily driver.
Looking to run a stock version of Android, currently have 4.3 loaded on it. Is that considered the "best" version to run on it? I heard issues with running KitKat but that was a few years ago now...
I want something stock with no slowdowns that this phone is perfectly capable running. Thanks!
I'm use kitkat https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/rom-omap4-aosp-project-t3334574
Have 1gb ram and u cant install google nano or pico apps.

Marshmallow to Nougat

Hi,
I just recently bought a brand new P2 that comes with stock Marshmallow S062 ROM. Recently I noticed that I could upgrade to S233 (Nougat) ROM by downloading a 2 GB update. While I am quite happy with the performance of Marshmallow, is it worth upgrading to Nougat? Are there any noticeable bugs on the newer ROM? Thanks.
I would definitely say it's worth it. You are then on the latest security patch etc.
Most bugs are fixed in Nougat and it's very fast with some battery improvements.
I would highly recommend doing a factory reset after the upgrade. I had a few issues after upgrading that were fixed with a wipe.

Thanks a lot man, I just upgraded to Nougat, and I notice that there are already more free RAM (from 1.8 to 2.4 GB free), and some games run more smoothly. I hope that the battery will last as long as before!
*As of now, I haven't experienced any bugs, even without any factory reset. If the device can keep running without any problem, I won't do any factory reset.

Which is considered the "best" firmware?

Back story: My OP3 has been running Pie for a while and I'm not impressed. The phone lags unless I force close a bunch of apps, it gets hot, and the battery dies. I'm running all the same apps I ran on Oreo and Nougat before it. Im retiring my OP3 and when I do I want to revert its firmware to an older, more stable version.
I don't care about security updates and it doesn't matter to me if I'm on Android 9 or 6. Im looking for performance mostly for things like Android Auto, google maps, etc, GPS and WiFi.
What do you recommend? Is there a firmware that is widely regarded as "best overall"? A search on the OP forums had a couple people say OOS 5.0.8 (the last 8.0 update before Pie) but Im wondering if maybe Android 7 or even 6 might be smoother / faster. I don't mind using older firmwares if I get better speed / performance.

Stock ROM comes with its own firmware which would be the best for that version of ROM. So if you are going to flash stock OOS, simply flash the full ROM. Don't flash a different firmware unless you have an issue and it is advised.
The creators of custom ROMs themselves state in their ROM threads which firmware is suitable for their ROM. Stick to that and don't flash another firmware unless you have an issue and are advised to do so.

SM-T520 Looking For A Basic Rom Android 5.0 or Higher

Hi, I have been away from modding and roms for quite a while, and to be honest I have forgotten most of what I knew about it all. I have a T520 and it is currently rooted and running a Android 4 rom. I want to use it to view my Eufy Cams but in order for that app to work it needs to be on Android 5.0 or higher. I am looking for a simple setup and a stable and basic rom if possible. I literally use this tablet for nothing else, so the most important thing is being able to use that app. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
Look at this, its doing a great job for most of the sm-t520 users here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...7-1-xsm-t520-unofficial-lineage-14-1-t3538770
Its Android 7.1.1
