I'm having this issue where once I boot into Android and I disabled mobile data and use WiFi, everything will work as intended. If at some point I enable mobile data and wait a few minutes I can disable WiFi and mobile data yet a data connection is still available. Icons show up as being disabled but this is false. A reboot will clear the issue but returns as mentioned. I removed as many apps as I could think of that may have something to do and checked developer settings to fix this behavior to no avail. Anyone running into this?

I'm not sure but it could be that in developer options there is a setting to keep mobile data always enabled. Try to turn it off and see if there is any change.
This was fixed by changing my T-Mobile APN and now for some reason it works as should. Was using "wholesale" as the MNVO APN previously.

I have checked the Mobile Data box in settings and turned off WiFi but I can never connect to data. The data icon doesn't even appear as it does when it attempts to connect. I have Juice Defender running but disabled it to see if this makes a difference but it doesn't.
I've looked through all my apps but can't see any others that would make a difference to mobile data or its setting.
Not sure, but I think it may only have happened since I went from CM7.0.3 to 7.1.0. Before I go back to CM7.0.3 to see if this makes any difference can anyone tell me if there's something I'm missing? Any other setting that could affect this?
I've done the *#*#4636#**#* code and I have CDMA preffered selected.
I'd just try reflashing Cyan. Would probably be the simplest option ^_^.. just backup beforehand.
Hi,
I'd like to permantently disable 3G data connection. It's not included in my mobile pass. I've switched it off in the settings, but I don't know how, it's turned on again.
So I'm looking for a little application that can disable 3G and check if it's still disable and stay disabled.
Thx for your answer in advance.
Get 3G Watchdog and set an option to disable Mobile Data when more than 1KB has been used.

just go into mobile networks and set up a new apn. call it new, and access point name as new. then save it. then just select it and you will get no mobile data at all as your phone will have nothing to connect to. if you need to get your mobile data again just select the apn your phone was orginally on
I've noticed this on several recent JB ROMs (but haven't tried on stock yet)
Phone starts up, mobile data works.
Use Wifi for a while, then turn it off. Mobile data does not come back on automatically.
Either have to toggle mobile data or toggle airplane mode to get mobile data back again.
Anyone else having this issue?
*EDIT* Problem solved. The issue was with Wifi Calling.
When wifi calling was enabled, turning off wifi would not let the phone automatically switch to mobile data.
Disabling wifi calling has fixed this problem. Hope this can help others

Never had that happen to me on CM10 stable.
-Sent from my GS3 running CM10.-
Never happened here...??
I found the answer to the problem, see OP
Hey there. I don't own this phone but my friend in another country does. They don't have great tech support so I thought I'd ask here. For some reason her mobile data button is greyed out. It's on, but not allowing her to turn it off. Anyone know what could be the problem? I've attached two screens that might be useful but they're in Russian. Any help would be great, thanks.

Isn't that WiFI?
Anyway it is LOCKED, this means that is can not be turned off. Does he installed any program that locks WiFi? Also tell him to check WiFi/mobile data settings.

No, wifi is on but mobile data is still used. It seems like it has higher preference over wifi. Everything is straight out of the box with no user installed apps.

Hmmmm
Turn off phone > Take out SIM card > Turn on phone > Turn off WiFi > reset developer settings > Take in SIM card > restart phone.
Also you said that mobile data has got bigger preference than WiFi. In that case make sure that option 'switch to mobile data' is turned off (see ss).
If this won't work, I think that she may need to reset factory settings.
Also when this problem occurred?

Ok will try that, but I've been looking around and there's an update for it I think so we'll do that first and see if anything happens.
And this was pretty much straight out of the box. Bought the phone, came home, started setup, turned on wifi and then all that she sees later is that her mobile data is gone.
Well, did he/she tried to connect to other WiFi network, what happenes then? I know it's not up to WiFi but I'm curious what will happen.
Thanks for the help guys, but the last software update seemed to fix the bug. Everything works fine now.
There will be many times when my data icon will be persistent even on wifi.
I'm pretty sure it's not actually downloading anything because I don't see the download and upload arrows lighting up.
At times, the issue will go away, but in others it reappears. I've made sure to disable "Keep Mobile data turned on" in the developer options.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? I'm on T-Mobile.

Thank you. I forgot to mention that when I usually leave data and wifi on, wifi automatically overrides it. I still leave my data on because of this fact. Right now, it seems to be working (as in the phone is only showing wifi with both data and wifi enabled).

WiFi will override it as long as you do not have that setting enabled, if you do the phone will switch between data and wifi randomly when it thinks data will give a better connection
You do not need that setting enabled to leave data on, I do not have it enabled and my phone will switch to data once I leave wifi, that setting just gives the phone a dumb brain that barely works and forces it to switch back and forth regardless, it has never worked properly since the S5 series
You can safely disable that setting and still have data come back on automatically once you leave wifi
