Converting Unlocked H10 to latest TMobile Nougat - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

HI,
I have an Unlocked H10 (soff'd bootloader unlocked w. sunshine), that I want to put the latest TMobile Stock Nougat on, before I attempt to activate and become a new customer. Purpose is to make sure no hitches during activation, afterwards I will use LOS 14.x which I have on the device now sans service.
However I'm having trouble figuring out these final things can anyone please advise:
1 Which RUU to use (I want latest compatible tmobile nougat)
2 What CID to use (supercid 11111111 works for activation ? I read problems with OTA so...)
3 What MID to use (I have no idea)
Phones current info from download page:
*** UNLOCKED ***
htc_pmeuhl PVT S-OFF
CID-HTC__001
MID-2PS620000
ColorID-WHT00 (oddly it's red)

thank you very much in advance for any help

In case it helps anyone in future, after much poking around as near as i can tell cid is most likely T-MOB010 mid 2PS650000 and ruu http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_PERFUME_UL_N70_SENSE80GP_MR_TMOUS_2.51.531.32.exe
I'll update this with results.

Hmm the RUU_PERFUME_UL_N70_SENSE80GP_MR_TMOUS_2.51.531.32.exe runs, then eventually just exits no errors, same with any RUU I've tried in fact . Doesn't seem to matter what the CID or MID is, running in download mode doesn't help. Tried restoring phone to full stock including recovery, except for bootloader being unlocked and soff, seems to make no difference.

I just want a normal phone again...

I am s-off and this is my getvar: http://pastebin.com/x4YZ3G34

I currently have some type of developer edition firmware that doesnt let me update because it knows I have the wrong phone.
I have changed my CID to H3G_001 as this is what it should be as I am with Three (H3g) in the UK.
I understand an RUU would be best but there are none for my carrier.
What would you do in my situation?
PLease help - I just want my normal phone bac with software that can install updates
Try changing CID to 1111111 through fastboot (cmd - fastboot OEM writeCID 1111111) then fastboot flash a GPE RUU (you can find em through graffixnyc.com).

Your paste.bin doesn't show that you changed the CID back to H3G__001
After you change the CID back to H3G__001, you can restore H3G__001 stock ROM backup and its matching stock recovery then do update.
You need to restore 4.20.771.2 backup.
You can read post #1 on how-to, files available on post #3 and #4
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Any further question, you can ask in that thread to get my faster respond.

The developer edition is a normal version - just minus the carrier additions. I would suggest altering your CID/MID to match the developer edition. You already know how to change the CID, so set that to BS_US002. Then change MID using this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581.
At this point, you should be able to get OTA updates if you haven't modified the OS. If you have, re-run the developer edition RUU from HTC.
When you are done, you will have a bog-standard "normal" phone in every way - and you will get your updates a heck of a lot faster than you will with any carrier.

You can't manually install OTA.
You can fix it either with a RUU or a nandroid backup

What do you mean by get back to 100% stock ?
Do you mean you want to change the CID from SuperCID to HTC__044 (based on your current version is 2.22.707.4)
Do you mean you want to change the S-OFF to S-ON ?
Whatever it is .. the first step is to make sure what your MID is.
Run command when on bootloader/fastboot - fastboot getvar mid and post here the result.
I'm not feeling well today (down with fever) .. I will check tomorrow for your reply.

sorry to hear about your illness . May you come round soon.
and yes i wanted to get back s on to get rid of that test device and want to update to at least lollipop version through OTA system and if for that i have to change my CID then i'm ok .but if changing the superCID creates any problem of my network then it will be really negative for me. point to mention here that i bought this phone from a refurbished shop in BANGLADESH.

You do realize that you can update to marshmallow by simply flashing firmware without going back to stock, especially since you are S-Off, correct?

Still recovering, just back from clinic and a bunch of medicine :crying:
Your MID and the firmware version that you have is not tally.
Before I can give better direction, you need to decide what you want your device to be ...
First thing, let's forget about the "warning" due to S-Off for a while because that's the easiest part to fix... and the will be the last part.
Most important, where your location is ? Do you want it to be an Asia WWE device as your firmware installed ? Or you want it to be a US device as your MID stated or you want it to be a EU WWE device then we'll change both firmware and MID.

lots of thanks for reply even in such situation and sorry for bothering you. prayers are sending from here. may you come round soon.
about my decision......
1. i want to keep my phone with latest updated firmware without problem facing. here i meant problem because i think a stock rom may be provide better and smooth service than a custom rom. and yes my thought can be wrong as i'm just new in this field.
2. removing the warning but now keeping that away as you advised.
as now i'm staying in Bangladesh (southern part of Asia) so i will adopt with appreciation any approach that will be easiest way to achieve the above twos.

HTC one m8 won't accept any other rims

Hi,
I have an M8 that I bought as a project to mess around with, bootloader was already unlocked, but was still S ON, It was already running a ROM that wasn't stock, but no big deal, went to flash Viper ROM and would only boot back into the bootloader - no splash screen.. I then tried the Android revolution HD with the same problem. I'm using the latest TWRP and doing the wipes before flashing the rom
CID is HTCCN701
MID is OP6B5000
Main is 4.29.1400.6
HBoot is 3.19.0.0000
Obviously a Chinese phone, so I S OFFed last night hoping that that was somehow stopping the flash.
My next step i'm thinking is to change the CID and MID and flash a corresponding firmware (Australian region) but am concerned if these rom flashes don't take then the firmware won't either.
just as a side note, flashed the M7 ARHD by accident and phone rebooted to splash screen and got stuck in a bootloop, but didn't boot straight to the bootloader, but when I flashed the correct version, booted straight to bootloader.
Did post this in a general Q&A, and got back recommendation that I super cid which I have done. Also flash WWE firmware, but I've still got reservations as I can't flash any other Rom at the moment, even though twrp says the flash is successful. I don't want to flash firmware and have it die completely if that doesn't take.
Does anyone have any advice?

And obviously you wasted the money that you spent to S-Off.
Something that I always see .. people paid money for S-Off but don't know what to do with it or why he needs it.
You can never change a phone variant with S-Off.
Your device is M8_TL ... you can't convert it to M8_UL or M8_UHL even with S-Off.
Same principle as you can't convert a Sprint device to Int'l GSM -
you can't convert a M8_WHL to M8_TL or M8_UL or M8_UHL or M8_WLV or M8_UL_CA
same goes
you can't convert a M8_TL (your device variant) to M8_WHL or M8_UL or M8_UHL or M8_WLV or M8_UL_CA
To install a custom ROM on your M8_TL .. you need to know whether the ROM support M8_TL or not. I don't personally see any of them ... most common is a ROM with support for M8_UL, M8_UHL, M8_WHL and M8_WLV in one zip.
Another note ... I don't advise to install any M8_UL firmware on your M8_TL .. you'll either totally brick the device or you'll brick the radio.
The best for you is google for your software version RUU .. mostly on Chinese site they have the RUU for this device.
Thanks for the advice, Will leave it as it is, it is running a custom Rom at the moment and is in working order.

Hello.
Not very knowledgeable here, so pardon my somewhat silly questions. I just bought 3 HTC M8 devices, with a view to upgrading to Marshmallow. They're for my mum and 2 younger siblings. I discovered I had the M8_UL, M8_TL and M8Q_UL.
I've been able to upgrade the M8Q_UL and M8_UL to marshmallow, the M8_TL has been the x factor. Can you please point me in the right direction?
I've done tons of research - that's how I was able to upgrade the other 2 - but there's very limited information on the M8_TL.
CID -11111111
HBOOT-3.19
RADIO-1.29.2145000121.12G
OS-6.12.401.4 (I did a firmware update before I found your post about not being able to convert the device, sorry)
Thanks.
I eventually worked out the TL variant is a Chinese version, unfortunately there was limited stuff available at the time I originally set about trying to flash roms, in the end, I left it with the custom rom it came with, as there was no others available, and no firmware updates, I wouldn't bother trying to do anything with it, but if you're planning to use, I'd root it and uninstall any suspicious app that's not needed (bloatware) as I didn't fully trust some of the Chinese apps not to pass data back, but if you've already updated firmware with an incompatible one, the phone may not work unless you put the original one back on.

I believe there are a lot of information on Chinese forum but not on others.
If you changed MID for M8_TL, then you need to change it back to original MID. If never change, then usually flashing RUU will work on SuperCID (if not, need to change CID too).
You can try the Marshmallow RUU 6.20.1400.1 to update your M8_TL
(only if your original firmware is x.xx.1400.x)
Download the RUU here - https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=folder&id=1153

Lollipop is the latest Android version for your device variant which is a LRA.
You can get the 4.21.512.4 RUU here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66044439&postcount=37
then OTA to 4.21.512.5 but most probably you need to change the CID from SuperCID 11111111 back to stock LRA__001 for OTA to install successfully as explained here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67516629&postcount=26
Then you can install any Marshmallow GSM ROM with Verizon support.
Note : Never ever install any Verizon stock firmware or any GSM firmware to your device, it'll brick the radio and you'll lose network & data.
Think about it before you do it...

It's awesome you actually got great advice and refrences to how to do what you need to do. I'd like to add this though: Consider whether getting Lollipop is worth re-locking and doing the things you need to do, including putting your device from s-off to s-on is worth it. And yes, you can run a RUU executable and extract the rom.zip from your computer's temporary files, but unless you have some mad coding and manual programming experience, with the version of HBOOT you have listed if you want to be s-off again you may be out of luck. or find yourself in a bootloop or your computer unable to find your device, or even unable to access stock recovery even with the correct button sequences. At best, you may find yourself unable to access mms apn settings (not even sure if you need or care about that), and if you can access them (apn and mms settings), unable to get the settings to stick (or actually apply themselves so your phone even uses them at all), or only have internet access but no mms even with the exact settings for mms you need put into a third-party texting app such as textra. etc.
if you are already or end up s-on and updated to the "latest and greatest" for your M8, maybe everything will work out perfectly for you . But, just something to thing about before doing all of those things. If you are lucky enough to get a bonafide XDA member's attention and help, as you have already, you are still by default expected to think of these things and do your own research. What you probably won't find out along the way is that when you run into some strange problem, there's no one knowledgeable to help you decipher it. There's tons of unanswered posts on this forum alone that have been viewed many times, that go unanswered.

That's a wrong advise and wrong understanding.
Once a device is S-Off, there is NO NEED to relocking bootloader and there is NO NEED to change S-Off to S-On.
Only S-On device needs relocking bootloader to install signed firmware and signed RUU. S-On device can't install unsigned firmware or RUU.
S-Off device can install any unsigned or signed firmware and RUU (no relocking is needed and not advisable)

Leave it UNLOCKED so it will still be UNLOCKED after RUU is installed.
Whatever you do now or later ... no need to relock it, leave it UNLOCKED.
You can do OTA as this is not a Verizon device but LRA. Now you can't OTA because you have a Verizon ROM running. RUU 4.21.512.4 is stock LRA, you'll get OTA notification once you install it.
The only thing is you need to change SuperCID 11111111 to LRA__001 to proceed OTA (as experience by other user in the above link I gave you).
Frankly speaking I don't see any good reason to have SuperCID on this variant.
Once you updated to Lollipop you can use Marshmallow ROM which support Verizon (there are a few of them). Nougat .. not so sure but you can always try later after you updated to lollipop but definitely won't work on your current firmware which is a KitKat.

Wanted to put Verizon radio on Unlocked US. Ended up in a bootloop

Hi eveyone, I'm in a pickle.
I have an unlocked US HTC 10. It is bootloader unlocked and S-off. My desire is to get it to Nougat with Viper Rom (Magisk version). However, since the phone will be on Verizon, I needed to flash the radio.
Somewhere along the way I messed up, and then I wiped the /system portion in TWRP like an idiot. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop and I can't seem to flash anything. RUU.exe files all tell me its the wrong RUU, restoring from SD card in download gives me an ID mismatch, and restoring a downloaded backup on TWRP doesn't seem to do anything (it goes through the entire process without errors, but still bootloops.). Ive been at this for days and trying to find the answer, so I thought I'd ask here directly. Here's what comes up when I go to Download mode:
***unlocked***
htc_pmeuhl PVT S-OFF
CID- 11111111
MID- 2PS620000
LK-1.0.0.000

any help getting me back to where I can access the phone again would be wonderful. Thanks!

Of you can still flash roms.... Just try flashing viper 5.11 when it first boots it should give you a carrier list to choose from. Try selecting verizon. I haven't tried using verizon on my unlocked htc 10 yet. So idk if it will work. Give that a try first before risking a hard brick.

Okay, I managed to flash the full Viper ROM. When set as default carrier, I can get into the phone but cannot use my Verizon SIM card or LTE. If I set the carrier as Verizon, I get stuck at "Preparing your phone" during the setup wizard. It looks like my radio is still Verizon, so I don't understand why it isn't working. Please advise. Thanks!

Edit: I also tried to download the official Verizon RUU. It flashed, but also got stuck at the setup wizard under "Preparing your phone"

Your MID isn't for the US, and the firmware you are running now (1.80.709.1) is for Taiwan.
First thing to do is change your MID. In download mode: fastboot oem writemid 2PS650000
Secondly, there are no "Official" RUUs for Verizon. There are RUUs that are unofficial though. So the next step I guess would be posting a link to the RUU you tried to flash. If you are in setup wizard, then it is an .exe (which would point to an official RUU) so I would guess maybe it's for US Unlocked (2.51.617.11)?

Here's what you want to do.
After you change your MID, use this RUU.zip for Verizon.
You can either flash it with fastboot commands in download mode, or use the SD card method (which is easiest)

Thanks for your help! I changed my MID and flashed the 2P6IMG via SD card. It got stuck at "Preparing your Phone" at the initialization screen. As for what I was using before, it was DOTTAT_VWZ10_1.19.605.9_s_on.exe.
Edit: Here's what my Download says now:
UNLOCKED
htc_pmewl PVT S-OFF
CID: 11111111
MID: 2PS650000
ColorID- WHT00 (even though it is gold on the back)
LK: 1.0.0.0000
Radio: [email protected]
OpenDSP-v20.0.8996.00007_0809
OS: 2.41.605.23

edit 2: I thought it might help to give you the information that's on the back of my phone, just in case. Model: 2PS6200, M10h CCAJ164G0050T0.
