LG Optimus G Pro to debut this April
Set to launch through Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo, the new LG phone will offer a 5-inch screen with a 1,920x1,080 pixel display.
January 23, 2013 5:27 AM PST
LG's Optimus G Pro smartphone will reach consumers in April, at least those in Japan.
Japanese provider NTT DoCoMo announced the news yesterday. A Google-translated version of the company's press release revealed early April as the launch date for the successor to LG's popular Optimus G.
A DoCoMo slideshow page reveals a host of details about the phone, but only for people who can read Japanese. The PDF slideshow is protected, making it impossible to copy and paste the text for translation.
Specs published by Japanese media site Impress Group point to a 5-inch display with a 1,920x1,080 pixel resolution. The phone integrates its glass surface with the touch sensor to generate a thinner display and body.
Equipped with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the phone will be powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon Pro chip, offer 32GB of storage, and include 2GB of internal memory. Adding a microSDXC card can add as much as 64GB of additional storage.
A 2.4 megapixel camera will grace the front, while a 13 megapixel camera will take the rear position. The 3,000 mAh battery supports fast charging but is not removable.
The current Optimus G is sold in Japan, South Korea, Canada, and the United States.
An LG spokesperson told CNET that "currently there are no plans to make the Optimus G Pro announced by DoCoMo outside of Japan."

Why won't LG release the Optimus G Pro in the U.S? I hope JellyBean comes to the Optimus G before the April release of the Optimus G Pro.
This is old news it's been posted here just a few threads down below.

Hello everyone!
I've done some reading on the forums (so I hope I haven't missed a similar topic)
and I have a few questions to ask. Being the proud UK owner of a G2, the best phone I've ever used hands down, I am definitely ready to move onto the G3 !
I am seriously thinking of buying the Korean version - 32 Gig, 3 G of RAM sound more futureproof than 16 Gig, 2 for the same price nevertheless. However, I have a few questions for anyone who either has knowledge or has owned a Korean product before.
1) LTE bands and frequence. According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone_UK#Radio_frequency_summary Vodafone, my provider, uses both band 20 and 7 for LTE. Now there are three LG variants, the L, S and K. According to this: http://optimusforums.com/threads/ko...ide-lte-band-differences-pros-and-cons.13134/ , it's just the L that has one of the two LTE bands used by Vodafone (And seemingly by most UK providers). Am I reading this wrong, or is it that the other two models would not support LTE?
2) Warranty - I guess this goes out to those who have actually owned one In the (un)likely event something goes wrong, what's the process of dealing with it - shipping it back and forth to Korea? I assume LG doesn't support Korean products locally.
3) Modding/Roming. Once more based on : http://optimusforums.com/threads/ko...ide-lte-band-differences-pros-and-cons.13134/, most mods that come out come out for the international models. Is this a reality? I've never been following models/variants much, but is it quite possible that buying from a Korean market may result in me never getting access to the good mods out there?
Thanks for reading, for answering (and for possibly trolling me ), and hope my questions make some sense.
After much Dilemma myself, I was in the same position as you are now in, I couldn't find any info on which model to go for, the F400K or the F400S variant, I spoken to my carrier and they gave me the gsm frequencies (I am in ireland) and then spoken/live chat with the supplier of the LG G3 from Ebay and they also directed me in the right way. I received my Brand New LG G3 F400K yesterday from Korea, and it work brilliantly. From my knowledge here in Ireland we run on the same basebands as you in the UK.
Perhaps the supplier of the phone can also direct you in the right direction, I initially ordered the F400S, but after discussing it with the supplier it became apparent that the F400K was the one for me.
Hope that helps you. I have brilliant 3G coverage here (4G not over here in my location yet) so I cant guide you on this.
Thanks
There is a good youtube video guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj_KUqkH4oQ on Korea models too if your importing. Shows whats in the box and talks about the pros and cons.

I wouild definitely upgrade from the S3 to the LG G3, I have had the Samsung S2, S3, S4, HTC One (M7), LG G2 and now the LG G3 and by far its the best phone I have ever owned, admittidely I have only had it a few days, but you can completely see the difference between them, I used to love Samsung, but ever since I had the LG G2 I am now a True LG Fan, Samsung have gone in the way of putting too many gimmicks into their phones, and also releasing different cariants of their flagship, ie, S5, and now S5 prime...etc. Definitely worth the purchase for the LG G3. Well worth the money. Battery life is great, Camera is Awesome, its quick and responsive with the 3GB Ram. The Brightness/Contrast is by far the best I have seen on any phone, The Display is awesome, QHD at its best. I love my G3
Just ordered USA unlocked (G710ULM) Platinum Grey. Why no news of bootloader unlock since 2 months of launch? What's the duration of LG's previous flagships which got bootloader unlock?
The purchase is from B&H, freebies like AVODA Case & Tempered Screen.
is there statistics where how many have purchased total LG G7s worldwide as per variants (G710ULM vs G710EU sales).
We know LG G7 sold more than LG G6 during launch, surprisingly the USA unlocked (US997) got bootloader unlocked around a month after launch.
Is LG busy with LG V40 launch? Also must be busy rolling out Android 9..0 Pie by Q4 of 2018.
Has anyone actually received Android Pie OTA yet? Because there was a load of articles saying the rollout started in January and I haven't got anything yet.
I got it since 17th January, but my device is korean version.
when will rollout for international version?
I am not sure, but as announcement it will come to 1st quarter of this year.
The first quarter ends in 12 days yet no update... Such a shame, will never buy an LG phone again ? very disappointed especially since this is supposed to be a flagship
1q anouncement whas for korean. Might take upp to 6 month if even at all.
And beta for Android Q was just released! This is ridiculous.
The LG G6 was one of the first phones to get Android Oreo, and now they are this slow with updates..
It's because they want you to buy there lg g8 once that's dropped we will get 9 mark my words lol this will be my last lg such a shame
GREAT

G8 out before we even see update.
South Korean tech firm LG Electronics said on March 21 its new flagship smartphone, the G8 ThinQ, will officially go on sale in the domestic market this week.
The G8 ThinQ is priced at 897,600 won ($796) and will hit store shelves on March 22, and be available in the North American and European markets in the coming weeks
