The G5 just launched in Canada this week, but only through carriers so I'm assuming it's locked. Is there any soft unlock for the G5, or reasonably priced online unlock code generators?

I now see sellers for Bell Moto G5 unlock codes for approximately $6 CAD.

The main reason I bought the USA unlocked G710ULM is to wait for the official bootloader unlock from LG. Unlike the US997 LG G6 is enjoying root, I'm surprised and upset that the USA unlocked LG V30 (US998) and now the LG G7 (G710ULM) has no word from LG. They just want us to purchase the European unlocked, which is more expensive , they are out of my price range in buying my favorite LG flagship. The US variant is reasonably well priced where as the European variants aren't. 11th July was the launch of the G710ULM and 4 months nothing from LG.

Gonna be honest I don't think we're getting anything from LG. I think we're on our own for this one
I'm located in the US and recently purchased a new unlocked LG G7 thinQ from Walmart at a great price - $395. Have had it about a month and it's great. However, just realized I was sent a Canadian Version (AWM) instead of the US version (ULM). Some sites show the AWM version as a North American Variant. Am I okay? Should I be concerned? Should I try to do a return to Walmart?
Has anyone actually received Android Pie OTA yet? Because there was a load of articles saying the rollout started in January and I haven't got anything yet.
I got it since 17th January, but my device is korean version.

The first quarter ends in 12 days yet no update... Such a shame, will never buy an LG phone again ? very disappointed especially since this is supposed to be a flagship

The LG G6 was one of the first phones to get Android Oreo, and now they are this slow with updates..

I purchased a new G960U for $349 1 yr warranty
Also got "amazon renewed" G960U for $349 w/90 day warranty-returns, for my brother when they sold out of New ones.
I've read some conflicting things from Google, but i see Nothing for root under the Snapdragon section here
and cant imagine Samsung would unlock a bootloader for a US variant.
I'm coming from the world of G930F S7's so please forgive if these are lame questions.
-Am i correct that there is no root and definitely no recovery for All G960U devices?
- Is it possible to flash south american G9600 firmware to G960U?
