Hello everybody.
My pixel 2 xl non rooted with unlocked bootloader.
So, Is it possible to flash latest OTA update directly through the phone via stock recovery?
As you aware that with the known and common pixel 2 xl issue which you can't get it connected to PC.
I'm stuck on October update and I'd be glad if someone could help me out on this matter.
thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, if you can't get pc to phone recognition, your kinda stuck. Have you tried revoking USB debugging to your pc then add it again? Tried uninstalling/installing your drivers? Tried multiple USB 2.0 cables and usb ports and/or another pc? If you can get into fastboot and install twrp you could flash the OTA that way as well. Best of luck to you.
Yes i did revoked it and tried many workaround solutions but unfortunately without luck.
So i thought if might be there's a solution without PC.
Thank you guys for the replies.

You may have a broken usb-c port. You need to fix that first, and then re-lock.
My suggestion is that you send your Pixel for repair. If you search google with pixel 2xl usb-c port repair, you will certainly find some repair center near you.

Hello guys this is my first post here. My Nexus 7 2013 WiFi gives me an error when updating from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2. My tablet isn't rooted and the bootloader is locked. I know it's easy to flash a stock rom but the problem is my charging port is faulty and cannot connect to pc. I would really appreciate your help and sorry if this post is in the wrong place.
Welcome mrboom97. What's the error? Has the bl been unlocked before?
Unfortunately without a PC connection this issue may be unresolvable.

Yes it has been unlocked before, and it just says error. And now I tried unlocking it and rooting which both succeeded and installed twrp recovery but it gives me error 7 when trying to flash. I believe that it may be unresolvable but thanks anyway

Hey guys,
I want to update my 5X(7.0, NRD90M) to the September security patch(7.0, NRD90R). I'm currently rooted with TWRP installed. How do I go about doing this? I can't attach to my PC and use the android SDK thingamajig because I don't have an A to C cable. Is there any way to do this on my phone without a PC, or perhaps wirelessly with my PC?
Oh, and, updating and taking the OTA like I normally would does nothing. It tells me the update is downloaded, but when I try to install it, it boots into TWRP and does nothing
Thanks in advance!

Just buy the proper cable and flash a full stock rom (bootloader and radio, boot, system) in fastboot and reroot, afaik you need a non-modifed stock rom to flash an OTA fil.

I understand this is an option, but is there no other solution? I don't have a need whatsoever for an A to C cable currently. If I'd have to buy one it would be just for updating. If this is my only option I think I'll just stick with my current version of Android until I can loan a USB-C PC or something. I don't think I'll spend $15 on a cable I'll only use once a month :/

Hello, I have a friend who has a Pixel 2 XL. He had rooted it and was trying to unroot so he could download Android Pie OTA and somehow accidentally locked the bootloader. He isn't able to go into recovery mode at all, and when he tried it gives him an error code "No OS found". He thinks this has hardbricked his phone but he is able to turn the phone on. It just won't let him flash a factory image. [I am going entirely by what he's told me. I've never rooted or unrooted a device so apologies if I messed up any of the terminology]. Is there anything he can do to fix his phone at this point?
P.S. I tried to contact Google to see if the device could be RMA'd. However, they said they cannot because it has been rooted.

I just checked with him and he says yes. But he says he can't root because he can't unlock the bootloader.
He also says it's not TWRP ready and the "enable OEM unlocking" option was unavailable prior to the phone bricking.

Short of returning it for an RMA, most likely not.
Alright might just have to end up trying that. Thanks everyone for responding. Although if anyone can think of any solutions please feel free to still respond!

From what I can tell the XT1789-05 is a dual-sim and the XT1789-01 is a single-sim device.
I suspect that is the problem, or it just didn't flash correctly.
Either way locking the bootloader should only be done if firmware is stock unrooted and working correctly.
My only suggestion is trying the rescue option in.

Hey guys, I have a Pixel 3 XL that I am trying to repair because it's touchscreen doesn't work, however while doing the repair I found that it does not have the correct firmware and I cannot install the correct one. When in fastboot mode, it shows the product revision as "crosshatch MP1.0(ROW)" however when I go to recovery, at the top it says: "google/blueline/blueline" . I can only flash Pixel 3(blueline) firmware to it through adb sideload since the bootloader is locked. When I try to flash crosshatch firmware through adb sideload it makes it about 50% before failing due to inaccurate signature. Does anyone know how I can correctly return it's firmware to crosshatch. The touchscreen doesn't work due to I assume it having the wrong firmware. Any help is appreciated thanks .
Try unlocking bootloader first and clean up everything that is data and system and reboot back to bootloader and use flash-all script from the rim downloaded and let us know what happened.

Unfortunately I have no way to unlock the bootloader since the touchscreen doesn't work. I've been flashing through adb sideload as flash-all wasn't available to me due to the locked bootloader.

Just a question why do you need a functioning digitizer to access or interact with the bootloader? Volume buttons are used to cycle through options and the power button confirms the highlighted option in both low level modes.

Ah so you have access to the Android system locally, then if you could try attaching a mouse that should reverse the current situation you are in.

Well if there is any chance you go flash the bootloader separately via fastboot try that. If that is successful then maybe the flash-all script could work
May be power off phone and hold volume down and connect to PC with cable and it should directly go to bootloader, make sure to download Google Android tools before hand and cmd to that folder and then u can unlock bootloader, let us know.
