I just updated my 5t to the Oreo open beta. Before that i was on OOS 4.7.6 and was using Substratum with the Navbar Height Plug in. It was working great on OOS 4.7.6. I had my nav bar set at the lowest DPI -18. Just barely visible so I could use All in one gestures as my main way of navigating and having access to the navbar for long press items(exiting screen pinning, double tap back to bring the notification panel down, etc..)
Now im looking for a way to do this on Oreo. The substratum method that was working before is not working on Oreo neither are any of the many navbar apps available.
What method can I use to change the Navbar height? I am looking for anyway I can change the dpi.
My end goal here is to shrink the navbar, nothing else.
To mention I am rooted and havent modified anything else.
I've got the exact same question so I'm bumping it. Went from 4.7.6 to 5.0 (Open Beta 1) and also used Navbar Height to set my Height to 0 to use Swipe Navigation. So far haven't found any other app/setting/build.prop editing sucesfully hiding my navbar.
I hide the navbar with this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75064981&postcount=91
Bumping this because I can't find a solution. Only more questions like mine. All I've found out is this is a problem specific to OnePlus(of course) and that they did something weird with the navbar on the 5t.
what about removing the nav bar. hate navnars
I got it working by installing https://play.google.com/store/apps/...lustools&rdid=net.jroot3d.joneplustools&pli=1 then adding the quick setting called Navigation Button that comes with the app.
I don't want to remove the navbar. I want to shrink it. Apparently OnePlus does something different as far as framework files for the navbar on Oreo. On oos 4.7.6(nougat) it worked just fine with substratum and any other app from the play store that modified the navbar. With the introduction of Oreo they changed something and it's very specific to just the 5t running Oreo. I just want to know what file I'm looking for and how to modify it be it with some framework edit or an app specific for the navbar on the 5t.

Hey bud are you on Oreo? I'm using the same thing but the notification button isn't working and even if I manage to hide my navbar I can't block it, it'll always slide up when I swipe.
Hi to all!
Just wanted to know if there's a possibility to get this APK work on out 5T too...on S8 it worked like a charm and easily bring the chance to navigate the phone without navigation soft keys, along with a swipe navigation app from Play Store (All In One Gestures for example).
This apk reduce the height of the navbar to 0, pratically will "delete" the navbar permanently (after a reboot), and the stock state could be reversed with simply uninstall this app.
But I noticed that this will not work on 5T: installed, reboot but navbar it's still there...
So, the question is: anyone knows how to get this to work with 5T too?

Looking for the same thing but one that shrinks the navbar like -18DPI or smaller. None of the available mods or substratum themes seem to work for Oreo regarding the navbar.
Ah, I'm on NOUGAT, hasn't switched to Oreo yet, waiting official OTA.
But I think that this, once "fixed", should work on Oreo and Nougat too...
At least...I hope...

On nougat there's a couple different ways. If your rooted there's a magisk module. If not you should be able to use Andromeda and use the substratum navbar height plug in.
Only thing regarding changing the height to -o is that it sometimes breaks your power button. So if you hold it it instantly reboots your phone.
There's a thread on how to get around that if your are rooted using Xposed temporarily to achieve hiding the navbar.

I'm not rooted, but that "Andromeda" thing? It's a Substratum module?
what does this apk do to the phone?
i know you wrote it will adjust the height to 0px
but whats the benefit out of it?

The benefit is to be able to use FULL display without on screen buttons, prevent burn-in because of softkeys...and let be able to navigate the phone with gestures with apps like All in one gestures or swipe navigation.
:good:
Best solution atm is to root your device and use jOnePlus Tools app. No need for Xposed at all, as jOnePlus Tools adds a qs tile to show/hide the navigation bar.
The best solution is that I think, found in another thread posted by @janres155 , that can be done with ADB without root, xposed or Substratum...only a single command in ADB shell will do the trick:

I'm on OOS 5.1.1 and I like navigation bar hide feature on it (toggle button on the left side)
I want to try other custom roms but they don't seem to have that feature.
(Not an Expanded Desktop. It's very uncomfortable to use)
Is there any other rom with navigation bar hide feature?
EDIT: I don't want to use any root/magisk/xposed module.
exposed edge can do the work , but u need to root it with magisk first

I hope rom supports hide feature, don't want my device stay rooted or use xposed.
For now I use 'Granular Immersive' app. It is flexible in that one can configure to hide navigation by app.
But I would prefer if it had ways to configure such in bulk. Nevertheless it works fine for me.

i'm using magisk for ASOP based custom Roms such as linage os or phenix os. can force hide nav bar and using xposed edge to set gestures like oos.

Hi can you provide link, please
I’ve tried several custom rom and none of the them has oxygen os gesture navigation.
It’s a shame.
They provide other gesture navigation system but much less reliable and user friendly and using the button navigation bar area for some gesture but with this method you are loosing real estate from the screen(it’s like you are having invisible navigation bar button)
Oxygen os gesture navigation is superior to all crap solution custom rom offer.

Thanks following your step by step instructions , I successfully installed Xposed edge aaand it works very well !!!
Most custom AOSP roms have the Disable Navigation Bar quick setting tile. I'm using OmniROM, arguably the best custom firmware for the 5T.
You can get the best OnePlus gestures replacement app ever, right here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivianuu.oneplusgestures
I've used for years navigation gesture apps like GMD gestures and All in One Gestures. They're much more customizable than the OOS gesture navigation and they work well in custom roms. OOS tends to kill background services in itself unless the app/service is converted as an system app. You need root but it doesn't trigger safety net and my banking apps work as well.

I like Omnirom but Disable Navigation Bar quick setting tile is very annoying.
Expanded Desktop that styles can be set style for all app, not per app and quick setting tile is much better, like in AOKP.

How is it very annoying? Once you toggle it, you don't really have to do it again unless you are troubleshooting something with the Gestures replacement.
Perhaps you're using it for a different purpose?
EDIT: Oh, I guess you just want it to come back whenever you swipe. You can add the Immersive Mode tile to Quick Settings in OmniROM using Tiles, a terrific app that adds additional tiles to QuickSettings.
I wonder how to get more icons in the status bar. The place is there, but only the left time is shown and the right only this two icons.
(If you're willing to root...) I've installed GravityBox and disabled the clock (or move it to the center, it hides under the notch)... At least I have 3~4 icons (3 icons + the dot if more than 4 notifications are there)
The clock can be hidden without root using systemui tuner. Some other icons can also be hidden (eg. I hide the alarm indicator since I always have an alarm set)
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...roid-9-0-pie-remove-status-bar-icons-0186364/
I probably wrote it wrong, but my problem is that I don't see more than 2 icons on the right.I don't have root.
And this application does not help

Hello Tramin,
Good Day !
Dear Have You Tried To Reduce Screen Resolution Size ? I Mean Go In Developer Options => Smallest Width (Around 448 dp). It Will Reduce Your Screen Resolution Size And You Can Get More Space In Notification Bar.
Greetings...
Thanks,
MUHAMMAD Asif Qasim
It can definitely fit more than 2. I can sometimes get 5 if they're narrow or overlap. The traffic arrows are the worst.
@aasiaasi:No change, what's wrong with my phone??

Probably because of the notch, this phone shows less icons by default. Eg. Bluetooth only shows when connected. My previous phone showed more icons by default but it had no notch and ran marshmallow.
To make more icons appear...
Connect a Bluetooth device.
Plug in headphones.
Set an alarm.
Put the phone on silent/vibrate or do not disturb.
Be on 4g while WiFi is available but needs sign in (both WiFi and 4g icons display).
Re enable battery icon.
Run Google maps.
Run a hotspot.
Is that what you mean?
Thanks, it's probably it.But it's not entirely correct, because bluetooth is on all the time and the icon is not visible.

The icon only shows if something is connected to Bluetooth.
Oh,thanks

Regular xposed is not available. EdXposed runs on pie. It's a new thing that tries to be compatible with Xposed. Many modules are not compatible. Gravity box is.
I strongly recommend having mm (magisk manager) setup before playing with EdXposed because bootloops are fairly common and mm from twrp let's you turn off EdXposed so you can boot again. Then you can fix the module/setting that caused a problem.
GravityBox was running solid on Open Beta 2. I've updated to Open Beta 3 and when GravityBox is enabled the phone acts a bit unstable.
Both the status bar and nav bar will disappear and then it goes to the lockscreen. It's somewhat usable, but it continues to act that way until the module is disabled and the phone is rebooted.
Has anyone managed to get GravityBox to work well with Open Beta 3?
Thanks

I updated to Open Beta 3 today and I've had no issues with GravityBox (10.0.0-beta-6). I don't use a nav bar but no instances of the status bar disappearing and no stability issues so far.

You are correct that Gravity Box needs xposed. Since it was no longer being maintained by its original developer and didn't support new android updates, it was unofficially ported in early 2019. The port is now called EdXposed and runs as a magisk module.

I haven't had any issues with the most recent version of Gravity Box on Android 10.
Not all the old xposed modules work nowadays though so you'd have to look up compatibility of particular ones but Gravity Box definitely works.
