I flashed a new ROM (Nova unofficial CM10) and let the battery drain till it went off, normally it starts charging again when I plug it in the wall charger, but this time nothing it seems :crying: the red led is on, but the battery doesn't get warm and it doesn't turn on normally. Sometimes it randomly boots till the unlock screen shows up from the ROM, but the screen isn't responding and then it turns of again. I tried to do something in the recovery, but since there are no other ROM files on the Phone I can't try any other kernel or ROM. USB storage doesn't seem to be working in this recovery... or it might be my windows 8.
Should I wait a few "hours"?? The red led is still on... so it's doing something right?
/help

the bootloader is unlocked... pretty sure SUS won't be working, but I will try. And I don't have a removable battery system but I can forcefully shut it down.
edit:
it keeps showing up the red led, flashmode and fastboot don't work.
Ok then u have the only way just connect it via USB and update SUS its the only way for u. It wil download 40mb then install the soft it says to connect ur divise and it wil donload 225mb firmware tft after that it wil update ur devise

it will not connect to USB, it's too empty for that... it's either recovery or nothing at all. But USB storage isn't working.

I'm having the problem also
I let the phone run out of battery, and after that the phone only charges for a few minutes with red LED on. Then it boots, says that battery at 0% and then turn off
I have NOVA rom.
Any help?

it seems I fixed it! it took me a damn while, but it seems to be charging now.
what I did:
1: Download Advanced Stock Kernel 17 (fastboot version)
2: wait for it to turn off
3: charge Phone till it boots again
4: hold power + vol up till it vibrates 3 times
5: get the Phone in fastboot mode (plug-in the Phone and hold vol up)
6: fastboot the kernel
7: reboot and hook-up the charger and it should charge again :victory: (without booting)
my battery indicator is now yellow!! and the on-screen battery shows yellow as well.
ps: try using a normal charger and not the sony wall charger... it seems to be working better when the OS is not booted.

Okay I got it solved too!
Mine is as follow:
- Let it charge till the screen boots up.
- Power + volume up for 1 vibration, and then hold volume up for fastboot mode.
- Flash adv kernel 17 and then connect to charger. Let it charge for 30 mins.
- Reflash Nova kernel
Everything works perfectly after that
I think Nova kernel does not support offline charging @[email protected]

Would you mind reporting your steps and kernel problems in the recovery thread in my signature. You could help others who get similar issues.

Even I have the same problem,so you guys just flashed the Advanced kernel without touching the ROM right ??
Because its a ICS kernel and i'm running PA 2.57 which is based on CM10,I'm gonna try this out
EDIT :
This is what i did,my phone wouldn't reset(Soft or Hard reset) but i was able to get into recovery and would get around a minute when the phone powered on showing "Charging 0%"
1. Copied the CWM version of Advanced Kernel 17
2. Booted the phone in TWRP(Nova Kernel has TWRP instead of CWM)
3. Flashed the Advanced Kernel,Rebooted
4. I was now able to charge offline as well as the phone would reset(Hard and Soft both)
5. After 15mins booted in recovery and flashed Nova Kernel back
6. Rebooted into ROM and voila showed 40% charge

You can always flash a kernel, but it will probably reboot right away. TWRP didn't seem to work with windows 8... CWM does work fine, but then again I had TWRP so I wasn't able to copy the file to the Phone and flash it using the recovery. Recovery did work though but it didn't have enough juice to perform a sideload, so fastboot was the only option for me.
But it seems you figured everything out already :good:

Why go all the way round and get back to stock when flashing a different kernel does the trick for you
Tbh,flashing takes lots of time especially when you are hoping around different ROM's i didn't have that kinda patience so went with the shorter way to getting the phone up and running

I had the exact same issue with Nova Kernal.
As I was usng PAC ROM I flashed the FXP kernal that came with PAC ROM and it started charging again.
So I Think the issue is with Nova Kernal..
So basically I have the same issue. The battery of the phone was nearly empty and I decided to recharge it. Unfortunately it didn't charge.
What was the cause: I upgraded to 6.1.a.2.55 stock rom and I wanted to root it. It worked well and I could reinstall all the apps.
The current situation is: The battery is empty now but when I connect it to my computer's USB port it comes up every now and then I can get into the phone, I can access flashboot and also I'm able to get into fastboot. So I tried it with the solution given above but it is not working. I tried to flash the old 6.1.a.2.50 but the flashtool will not install it. Here is the log file:

can u press power+vol up and hold both of em till the phone vibrates three times? if yes.. open flashtool. select flashmode, pick your ftf, and when the flashtool told you to plug the device, plug it while holding volume down.. if it's recognized by the pc, it will show green led, and it will stay green after the flashtool finished flashing. if it's only show green then back to red, u need to install flashmode driver first.
if the phone cant vibrate three times, u need to charging your device first. some say in just couple minutes, some even says a whole day.
hope it'll help.
try to flash the advanced stock kernel (v17) using fastboot. No matter the software on the phone, it should go straight to offline charging.

Thanks for your help.
After trying several kernels the stock .55 worked fine and it's charging again. Puh!
I know there are several threads out there with bricked XSs. I have read a lot of them and tried a lot of the stuff that is in there but none of them are exactly my case or they didnt work.
I rooted my xperia S which as on Android 2.3.7 and flashed it with a AOSP ICS Rom (using flashtool). I have locked BL and my stupid mistake was to try to flash a ROM that was for unlocked BL.
Now my phone wont go past the SONY logo, I have tried to fix it with the flashtool but I cannot make it to go on flashmode son my computer doesnt recognize my phone. When I plug it in the computer the LED turns red.
Any Ideas or suggestion? Please help me save this phone, It is brand new, I havent even made a single call with it.
Cheers!
Hold volume up and power button until it vibrates 3 times. Now it is off.
Install flashtool
Go to the drivers folder and install all the necessary drivers. Fastboot, flashmode Xperia S etc drivers
Download the ftf file.
Put it in the firmware folder
Now open flashtool and select the ftf file.
When its ready hold volume down button and plug your phone in. Wait.
It should work
There's no way you can brick a locked bootloader XS so don't worry

Thanks a lot man, I am going to try again, but I already had those files installed in my computer because like I said, I rooted and flashed my phone using Flashtool before.
I will try to go through the whole process again. But at least you are telling me that bricking a XS with locked BL is almost impossible.... that's given me hope.
cheers
If your BL is looked download EMMA tool from Sony, all the instructions are there and it will get you back to stock.
Don't worry, same thing happened to me and this generous tool fixed it

Does this installs Stock from the original country where I bought the phone or just the latest stock (4.1) ?

EDIT: In the Sony website it says that this is for devices with unlocked bootloader :/
If your phone is being recognised by your pc try using pc companion to fix this. Open pc companion, click on update device then somewhere should be a repair my device hyperlink ( I softbricked my locked bootloader sxs )

I could get it to go into flashmode but the phone reboots istself eve If I had pressed the Vol Down + Power and waitend for the 3 vibrations...
I plug it into the computer and it turns itself on, thus making the flash process abort.
Besides, I charged it all night, but I cannot turn it on just like that, I have to plug it for a while and the it would turn it self on and get stock in the Sony logo, the I can Press Power + Vol Down but when I plug it in the laptop in flashmode, it turn the led green but then it turns itself on. :/
Note: the phone is not recognized by te PC and I have all the drivers installed
You are aware of the fact that flashmode will time-out in about 42 or 43 seconds if no data is send? So if you have to do something in flashmode first start the process on your computer and when it asks for your phone to be connected in flashmode then connect in flashmode. If you do it before, it will time-out and will loose connection before the flashing is started.
And make sure no other program is trying to install new drivers for your phone. (Like PCC while you are trying to use flashtool or have adb running on your computer alongside PCC)
Good luck!

Yep, What Im doing is that I start all the process in flashtool and when it asks me to connect in flashmode thats when I take my phone to flashmode an connect it to the laptop.
The thing is that after connecting the phone the led goes green, that is good, but the it turns itself on and gets stock in the Sony Logo, soft reset, hard reset, it doesnt matter
Did you check no other programs are trying to install drivers for your phone?

which OS do you have (i mean on the laptop) , if its windows 8, then theres gonna be some problems getting to flash mode or fastboot mode, i had the same problem, i wanted to install a kerne via fastboot method, when it was windows 7 all was ok, my pc recognized fastboot mode and all worked out pretty well, after i upgraded windows 7 to 8, my pc didnt allow non-signatured drivers to run, so my pc couldnt recognize fastboot mode, and my phone automatically turned on, i couldnt get into fast boot mode,so, all i had to do was search in google for a solution..how to install fastboot drivers in windows 8 for xperia s, and voilaa...solutions !!

My laptop is actually Win 8, but I never had problems. Actually that was the laptop that I used to root it and flash ICS.The phone goes into flashmode, and it is recognized by the flashtool, the thing is that my phone wont stay OFF, it just turns itself on after I soft or hard reset it.

Hi everybody,
ok I will try to make this short
I have an experienced user level ROM, recovery, boot, ..
My phone is BRICKED! Is it?
AT THE MOMENT:
- I get into fastboot mode
- I get into odin downloading mode
- I can't start in recovery mode
- I can't start bootloader mode
- I have a connection with a laptop (win XP, as win8.1 didnt work for me)
- The computer can communicate with the phone in fastboot mode
- The computer cant communicate with the phone in Odin mode (at the moment Odin PC SoftWare doesn't recognize the phone)
- I am sure the drivers are installed correctly now. Thanks to the guide with fully stripped drivers.
- Using different, multiple different, no thousand different methods I tried flashing the stock OS (Yakju 4.3)
- I like SkipSoft Android ToolKit (Although I used fastboot and adb commands, I find the toolkit to do the same thing..)
- I always get an Error, when the process of flashing starts.
> PC says : Error
> Phone (in fastboot mode) says: FAILWrite Fail
INTERESTING:
- While I still was able to get into Recovery, the phone couldnt mount the sdcard (=> the internal drive)
- Some of the methods I use make the phone CRASH
> means the screen stops at its position and slowly turns completely purple
- The phone power button doesnt start the phone, to get the phone doing something at all I have to trick it:
..> I plug it into the wall charger
..> I take the battery out
..> I put the battery back in
..> I wait
..> I can get into 3 routines:
^Normal starting routine (of course stuck at google start up, since no Rom is installed)
^fastboot mode (VOL + & - & Power)
^odin mode (VOL - & Power)
..> Then I can just plug the USB cable into the PC
- 2 days ago I had (every single version) of Odin PC Software recognizing the phone (phone was in Odin mode), but it also failed after trying the recommended and unrecommended settings. Ended with an error message.
HOW:
I left my phone overnight in the car (Temp: -2 deg C), while Im sure spotify and maybe other consuming apps were playing.
Next day, my phone battery was empty and I couldnt start my normal ROM. (I had Slim Rom installed)
It was stuck at the "Google" start up display.
First intentions showed that it might be more than just the Software :/
Many days and so many hours of work, research and reading in forums, I decided to take a shot and ask here.
I appreciate everything xda-members have done for me already. Though I never needed to register for my earlier questions.
Phone data:
Product Name - tuna
Variant - maguro 16gb
HW version - 9
Bootloader Version - primemd04
baseband version -
carrier info - none
serial number - -a3c208 ***
signing - production
lock state- unlocked
BUMP!!! I have absolutely the same problem!! I can access everything, i enter the recovery trying to WIPE every single thing data, system, cache, storage etc.. but it seems it doesnt work. The information stays. I tried to "softbrick unroot & stock" with a nexus kit, everything seems ok, but after it finishes installing, it boots up on GOOGLE and after 10-15 min it starts to BOOT MY OLD CUSTOM ROM THAT I HAD BEFORE, after another 15-20 min it finally boots up and the system is EXTREMELY choppy and unresponsive and after a few minutes it restarts itself. I tried ODIN and I faced the same problem, it goes well to ~45% and then it freezes, and after a short delay odin gives FAILED. I tried several more things that i found on the internet and xda but nothing helps. Probably a corrupted partition or something. THE DAMN STORAGE DOESNT WANT TO DELETE ITSELF FFS!! PLEASE IF YOU KNOW ANY FIX/ALREADY FIXED YOURS PLEASE HELP!!! I need my phone!
can you give us more information about the error message?

Similar, only difference is with fastboot i can successfully flash system.img but nothing happens. With odin it fails at around 45% and then freezes. Only difference is that i cannot boot to old stock and i dont have this pulpish problem. I simply reboot on my old custom ROM configuration with all my last known icons widgets.. but the phone is choppy and unresponsive as hell.
I only get an error without any further message after flashing any of the images...
Any idea anyone? Isn't it some hardware issue?
Noo man i dont think its hardware problem, for me it all happened when my phone suddenly restarted itself and after that it bootloops forever and i have those problems
Anyone?
does erase work?
yes

how do you know that erase works, I mean that what you erased has really been erased?
One of the erase command in the toolkit was succesful, I guess. But I will recheck every error or successful message later tonight.
still NOT working
2 months have passed and I was too busy with other things.
now back to it. the problem hasnt changed.
i try fastboot flash command:

- in Computer Terminal: 'FAILED(remote:Write Fail) '
- on phone: ' FASTBOOT STATUS - FAILWriteFail '
any idea, please?

I wanted to upgrade from 4.4.2 to Lollipop http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/stock-14-6-1-236-customized-lollipop-5-t3264557
And before that I did a factory reset and format data (I got some issues on my phone and wanted to get rid of them).
Now I can not enter TWRP, I can not enter any thing. At the time beeing, after many restarts my red button is broken, I switch it off by "Power/Vol+". When I connect USB or push Power it starts and showing "SONY"-Logo, and that's it.
I can not enter flash-mode by swith off, hold Vol- and connect USB :crying:
What can I do to revive my Z1c?
Thanks for advices

Do you have adb / fastboot on your computer?

Yes, I have, but can not enter my phone/don't know how to enter.
I tried switch off (by Power and Vol+), holding Vol- (the same with Vol+) and plug in USB - it starts by showing red light for 2 sec than "SONY", and than stps - no vibration, no light, only steady "SONY"
cmd shows: D:\Programme\Android-Tools\ADB>adb reboot recovery
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found
D:\Programme\Android-Tools\ADB>adb reboot recovery
error: device not found
D:\Programme\Android-Tools\ADB>adb reboot bootloader
error: device not found
Phhu, hopefully I do something wrong?!
Install these:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-z1-compact-driver/
and try again

Power off by holding power and volume up, just wait until it turns off. When it's totally shut off, just hold volume up while plugging in cable and don't let go of volume until you see blue led. Then you're in fastboot mode. If you have drivers installed, it's very easy to get into recovery from there. Report back.
If everything fails...
Install Flashtool on your PC, install the necessary drivers (flashtool helps you with that), download the current firmware in .ftf format and apply it with Flashtool to your phone.
No worries, we all were at your point sometime but you can always recover
Thanks for your hints, folks!
I'll try them tomorrow and give feedback than.
Happened to me once.. Accidentally wiped my data..
Only thing I managed to do is reinstall kk via flashtool
Xperia Z1 Compact .386 rooted
...nothing works.
I have almost everything installed: adb.exe (800kb from 25.07.2013), fastboot.exe (157kb from 25.07.2013), Flashtool (Version 0.9.14.0 built on 12-02-2014 22:45:00), Xperia Companion (Vers. 1.1.24.0), Z1 Compact drivers (device manager says: Sony sa0109 ADB Interface Driver Vers. 2.0.10.30018 from 13.05.2013).
Nothing can connect my Win10-PC via USB3.0 to my phone, it always starts (when I connect it to USB by holding wether Vol+ or Vol-) with red (...pink?) light for about 4sec, followed by showing "SONY" - end of anything.
I'm desperate :crying:
Do you get the green led light when connected in flash mode (vol down when connecting)?

No, only red light, than "SONY" without any vibration...
May it be, that usb-debugging was off, whenn I did format data?

I don't think it's related..
Maybe you don't have the right drivers on pc?

The fastboot or flashmode mode should always work - regardless of what you did regarding ROMs or setting or wipe etc.
It is there to save your phone if you messed up.
It is strange that you cant enter these modes. Normally its really a driver issue and you PC does not recognize your phone.
But it seems that you have tried installing them already.
Just to make sure... Your phone charges normally when you plug it in right? So it cant be a broken cable or broken micro-USB connection on your phone?
Also make sure your phone is really shut down - try resetting it with the red button next to your SIM-card slot.
Your volume buttons were fine before right?

BINGO!!! ...the usb-cable, it's a pretty new one, but I know, the Z1c doesn't like every cable
Now I can enter Flashtools flash and fastboot mode.
I think I lost almost everything on my Z1c, even my TWRP, don't I?
What is now for noobs like me the best way to install this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/stock-14-6-1-236-customized-lollipop-5-t3264557
Many Thanks!

Thank you all for your input!
It was the usb-cable which did load my Z1c and in this case (no other data on the phone) light the purple LED and display the "SONY"-logo - but nothing else!
All the future problems are more on the software-side (my head) than on the hardware (the cable)...
Haha glad you sorted it out. I don't know why but I also have USB cables in my collection that just won't work with my Z1C... But now you know
If you need further help in restoring with flashtool you can also look up this thread for some helpful links : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631291
Try to get your hands on a .108 firmware (I always keep one on my PC in case I f*** up ). They are easy to root with EasyRoot and from there you can flash dualrecovery. With TWRP you are good to access your backups or flash anything you want again.

Greeting Android master on xperia z1 compact section
please help me my phone stuck in bootloop!
my device condition are
-Locked Bootloader
-Running ExistenZ 9.5.5 and rooted
-Xposed 89 sdk22 installed
-Dont have TA backup
-Dual Recovery
-USB debugging not turned ON
1. The story is last night i flashed Sir cmdarkshadow port ExistenZ 9.5.5, before that i use Miui 7
2. Aftel clean flash im getting internal not mounted bug (not the actual problem here)
3. Then after some search all over the forum i used a terminal code in attempt to fix the storage bug, the command were :-
su
echo mkdir/storagesdcard0 > /data/local/userinit.sh (but i got error saying permission denied )
then i proceed with chmod 700/data/local/userinit.sh
and i rebooted
since that my device stuck in bootloop, the behavior is Xperia logo appear along with red led (not blinking) in about 3 second and this behavior repeat infinitely
i also cannot access the recovery via pressing vol + and vol -
Window 7 do recognize my device but adb wont, it say waiting for device for eternity
what should i do ? did i mess with GPL? or my recovery got deleted from the command i made?
please help, this phone is my daily driver and i have classes which i cant see my notes without. please help me :crying:
In sim card slot there is a small red button. Hold it down with toothpick or paper clip until you feel three vibrations. That will shut off your phone.
After that you can use Flashtool to flash stock firmware. Or you can try adb again.
