i don't know how it is on huawei, but you can use gestures in nav bar settings or, better, this samsung app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.sidegesturepad
Hello,i've tried many launchers, but none have 'back efffect' like EMUI 9... launcher.
Maybe someone found something like this...
Anything that can toggle playback control with display off? Thats a feature of OnePlus and something I've gotten used to while using the OnePlus X
Try one hand operation +
It's in the playsyore
Only provides popup menu for media control; doesn't actually toggle media control commands (eg play/pause, prev, next)
Well the gesture from one handed mode is not that bad but I'm still looking forward to a ported version from emui

Third-party launchers will need an update for the back arrow to be hidden on the home screen by default, in Android P, when gestures are enabled. Nothing can be done at the moment.

Not on P yet, but eventually.

I'm using OnePlus gestures and highly recommend it. Along with Hide Nav Bar it's like my OnePlus 6 was...which had much better gesture navigation than the P implementation

Is that an app, does it require root or anything? And does it work well? Better then the XDA app?
If you go to the link just once, you’ll have your queries addressed in the video or the article.
Navigation Gestures by XDA does not require root access, meaning you can use our app on virtually any Android device.
Navigation Gestures by XDA doesn’t use Immersive Mode to hide the navigation bar, which means an accidental swipe near the bottom won’t interfere with our gesture controls.
Navigation Gestures by XDA doesn’t force fullscreen mode. This means that keyboard access won’t be broken unlike other solutions.

So how is this app working out for you on the enormous screen of the 10 plus?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid
Well, I used in my note 8, and it was a little inconsistent, sometimes it responded well, others worked, but without the wave animation, now with this note10, on pie, I dont know
Samsung have a better gestures solution called 'One hand +', many more gestures, greater customisation.
I don't mean to be patronising, but if you haven't tried it yet, I reccomend that you do.

Well, yes, I just downloaded it in my note 10+ today, and it works fine, in the 8 it was inconsistent

I'd agree but the only negative with One handed + is there are no bottom toggles.
I have tried a couple of hybrid approaches
1 - Standard samsung gestures on and one handed operation plus on for the back gestures (quick swipe) and app switcher (long swipe)
2 - Standard samsung gestures on and Fluid NG too (Using just fluid NG give FPS placement issues) gives me long swipe up for app switcher and swipe from side for back gesture. I switch off the quick swipe up as the standard swipe up covers it

You do know that you can place the handles(active area) of 'One Hand +' at any height on the screen, even practically 'fullscreen' by increasing its length, and that 'right' and 'left' handles can be configured independently of each other?
I also use a 'hybrid' system of gestures, 'Nova Launcher Prime' being the other. With these 2, I can control practically every aspect of my phone with gestures alone.
But heyho, whatever works for you, works.

I do yes but it does not support any swipe from the bottom gestures which is what I was trying to say.

Sure, but you have 'Recent', 'Home' and 'Back' gestures at the bottom anyway.

Personally I do not like how Samsung did these, e.g. having to swipe up from the left or right side. Much prefer the iphone, pixel, Huawei approach. YMMV

I don't use any of those brands, so can't really comment, I'm not discounting them per se, just that I've never used them.
The good thing about all this is that we get choices, win win for the end user.

It's the cat's arse. Wuv this apk, very customizable, low resource usage and works very well.

A slick app.
Works perfectly fine. Been using it since my P20 pro.

My Mi 11 Lite does not work with third party lunchers like Nova, Poco when I want to set system navigation using gestures. When I press the toggle, the bottom bar with buttons turns off, but gesture control does not start - the phone interprets the gesture as using the buttons for navigation. I have MIUI version 12.0.8, and Nova is version 6.2.18 and beta version 7.0.25. I care a lot about the flexibility of Nova, especially in any compaction, scaling, and positioning of icons or widgets, as well as turning off the screen with two-tap.
Am I missing something or is this just the way it is?
Is there any way to get around this?
Thanks.

I don't think you're understanding what he's saying.
Built-in OnePlus gestures are terrible. You can see some stupid animations that can't be removed when you swipe the edges or the bottom.
What he's saying is that you can hide the nav bar and completely use a third party gesture system (without invoking the native gesture system). This allows better speed and removal of animations.

Yeah....
With this app you can use Other apps for gestures, oneplus gestures are very simple for me... With edge gestures, you can open apps, lock screen with custom gestures
So, which gestures app is the best to use?
I kinda miss the bottom left/right swipe to go back...

Mmm, Edge Gestures doesn't seem to have split bottom actions. Or am I missing this?
Trying Fluid Gestures for the moment.
Hello folks, I haven't made the jump to custom rom yet, still on stock miui, I don't mind it tbh.. but this is my first phone without physical navigation buttons (back, home , recents etc), is there anyway to make them permanent, i use a lot of apps where the whole screen is active, can be hard to being them up sometimes without interfering with the running app...
Thanks!
Find setting Full screen display

I've been a button user for years too, but damn if these gestures aren't so damn convenient. You can enable it from Settings ( search for Gestures ). You gonna try it for days if not hours, the revert back to gestures xD

miui was good when they allow other launcher (non miui or poco) tu use full gesture navigation, how ever after updating A11 miui 12.5 It's gone...you only can use gesture nav on poco/miui launcher only & that's suck...
since i do really hate both miui & poco launcher..i had to use again button navigation...(i use nova launcher)
I'd found the full screen display options before, I guess Im only really concerned about Microsoft Remote Desktop but I can't make the buttons permanent, they have that "toaster" function
for me i choose gesture navigation over permanent button, coz the phone look great when in full screen mode, despite the launcher...
F3 look great if we can use gesture nav & hide those status bar (poco launcher can't do this, only external launcher apps).. but that's all just a dream, since there's now way for stock non rooted poco f3 can bypass gesture nav for external launcher (don't know if custom romm do that...since my F3 not rooted yet
