Hello. So, i have used the xiaomi.eu Android 9.0 ROM for a couple of days now. I saw that the new update is available, so I downloaded and installed it. However, this update boot looped my phone. I decided to flash the Global 8.0 version, knowing that I can do that since the phone doesn't have protection against downgrading.
Now however the phone is giving me security messages about 'find my phone' and "couldn't check secure device info". I could live without having to log in to my Mi account, however since downgrading my Wi-Fi doesn't work at all, and I am unable to get my phone verified to unlock the bootloader to flash the Android 9.0 ROM back (since it cannot check the secure device info). Is there anything that I can do?
I tried downloading the Open Beta ROM from here and installing it through the updater app, however the phone throws up an error about different Android versions.

I tried, however I got the message erase boot error. I'm guessing this is because my bootloader has been locked.
You can't use miflash with locked bootloader.Unlock and flash trough fastboot
Hi , try this method https://en.miui.com/thread-1351514-1-1.html, fix for me , but if you scary , unlock your bootloader first look at here https://c.mi.com/thread-1635834-1-1.html but never never relock the bootloader , you'll brick phone , if one day you use miflashtool choose "clear all" don't forget that
try this:

Hi,
I bought Xiaomi Mi 5s with Global Stable ROM 8.2.1.0, and today I entered the official MIUI website to see what's the latest version that is released, in here:
http://en.miui.com/download-314.html
For some reason at the same moment I thought that 8.0.3.0 is higher version than mine (I missed a zero), and I downloaded the ROM installation file to the phone, and installed it through the updater app.
After the install, the phone loaded and didn't recognize the SIM card anymore, also couldn't enter the Network settings, the phone app or the phone status, and from what I read on the internet it probably don't recognize my IMEI anymore...
It also doesn't let me install my previous version (8.2.1.0) because the updater says it's not verified.
I tried to flash again the same ROM that is installed now (8.0.3.0), but it didn't help.
Also tried to do factory reset but I can't because it doesn't recognize the device id...
Is there something I can do immediately to fix this without applying a request to Xiaomi to unlock the bootloader (which I really don't want to do), and also to be stuck without a phone again for a couple of days?
Updater says it's not verified when you install 8.2.1.0? Maybe you got a wrong phone version?

Nope, it's the right one: http://en.miui.com/thread-567657-1-1.html
From what I read over the internet they canceled this update because it has issues, battery drain mostly, but nothing official that I saw.
I'm not sure, but according to a tutorial I found, which is about down grade from miui 8 to 7. You need to have a factory reset to have imei back
By the way, Mi 5s always comes with Chinese ROM, so maybe you have recovery installed already, where u can flash without verify.

No I don't have recovery, probably when it arrives to the stores here they flash official ROM and remove custom recovery (just guessing).
I see I can't avoid unlocking the device, although I don't want to. In my case I down graded from 8.2.1.0 to 8.0.3.0, but I hope that a factory reset will also help after I'll unlock the device.

Wow, bull****, mine came with Global rom, and in xiaomi phones after ~2016 there is like ~1% chance that they will came with recovery and unlocked bootloader
to op:
unlock bootloader (developer settings + miunlock tool) and then use miflash to reflash rom

I had exactly the same problem as you last month. All i can do is flashing my phone using deep flash cable. Factory reset does solve this problem, but in my case i cant. When hit reset on settings, i must input mi account password and it did nothing after that. I also cant unlock my phone because i forgot binding my device to mi account in developer settings when still in miui 8.2.1.0.

Sorry, I didn't know they are selling Mi 5s global versions. I thought Mi 5s was only sold in China. I did google it online and it was not sold elsewhere and there was no global rom then.
Update for people who will encounter this issue and will read this:
What solved it in my case, was to send Xiaomi a request to unlock the device, they returned an answer pretty fast (2 hours later), maybe because I wrote them what happened in the request. I unlocked the device using Mi Unlock tool, downloaded a fastboot version of the global ROM I wanted (8.0.3.0) from the official MIUI website, and flashed it using Mi Flash tool, choosing the option "clean all, flash and unlock". After the flashing succeeded, the IMEI was restored and everything is ok, and also the bootloader is locked again like nothing happened.
pretty much what "mezutelni" said to do
Hi I have a big problem with my Max 3.
I ulocked it and then I flashed it with the official Xiaomi Flash App and clicked the 'clean all and lock' button. Unfortunally I flashed a bad ROM.
Now I can only boot to recovery (This MIUI version can't be installed on this device) and Fastboot.
If I try to flash a ROM I see 'Erase not allowed in lock state'. I tried to unlock it with fastboot, I receive 'Token verify failed' I tried with Mi Unlock: My account is accepted and when I click Unlock
I have 'Current account is not bound to this device' But I can't bound it because i can't boot it!!
I would be very, very happy about a solution for this mess!!!
Thanks everyone who has i idea!

He already tried that. You can't use MiFlash with locked bootloader.
I am afraid you have bricked your phone. Unless you have an official Xiaomi servicecentre nearby.

Are you sure?
I had exactly the same. Locked my device when flashing (!!!?) then error while flashing, format the phone and everything was gone, locked bootloader.
After a search of 2 months I found out it was possible to repair the phone.
You have to open your phone, not very hard..follow this video https://youtu.be/dYlKG3EcpHg
Then contact the guys from S-Unlock https://s-unlock.com. I did it too, and they are thrustworthy.
You have to test point your device, https://youtu.be/IYWItgq2f9E until the Quallcom driver appears in your devicelist.
Then contact S-Unlock via chat. It can take up to 2 hours before the respond. The service cost 25 dollar for installing new Rom.
They log in to your computer via Teamviewer, they install MiFlash and Rom.
They have a special restore account. Without this account your Max will never work again, no need to try.
For 25 dollar my Max3 is working again.
Hello guys.
I recently bought this phone and wanted to use netflix, but didn't allow me because it outdated and said it was not compatible with my phone. So I did a bit of research and found a post in "mi community" that said it was because phone had bootloader unlocked. The phone was new and I didn't change anything of it, but I found the bootloader was unlocked.
Installed fastboot and adb drivers, locked bootloader and got myself into a... Brick?
-I can still load into fastboot.
-If I turn on the phone, It tries to load android but loads Mi-Recovery 3.0 instead. Recovery also says "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device"
I'm so lost from this point, I need to know if there is a way to flash any rom, and which one do I need.
Thanks in advice
stuck on recovery
Most likely a chinese phone that came with global rom. If it came with global rom try flashing chinese rom and then unlocking bootloader and reflash global. Do not lock bootloader after flashing global.

Thanks for your answer, that is exactly what I've.
The problem is I tried to flash a Chinese from but it always denie it. Tried to flash the last global rom and allows me to do it with the same program.
Not sure where I can get the official chinese rom or how to bypass the xiaomi protection.
Thanks for helping! Hope I can somehow do it

If you can flash global ROM. I think you just need to unlock bootloader and then flash China ROM once you have unlocked bootloader.

It lets me flash de global one, but when I try to do the same with chinese rom, it says the version is lower, so I can't "downgrade".
It's weird because according to version number, the global one was a few versions lower
Solved the issue
The same issue , i was also encountered , After Flashing with "Xiaomi_Mi_Max_3_V10.2.1.0.PEDMIXM_20190226.0000.00_Global_9.0" Mi Max 3 with the MiFlash20191206 tool , by default the tool used "Clear data and Lock".
The tool saying "Flashing" and my phone got rebooted and went to MI Recovery 3.0 and also i got the message as
"This MIUI version can't be installed on this device".
I am not clueless how to proceed. So downloaded the Chinese version and again i tried to flash with above tool. Now tool said that "Can't Erase Locked" phone.
So Now i connected to Miflash_unlock with fastboot and connected to mi account and again i unlocked the phone.
Now my phone automatically booted to the Global version.
So i hope the issue is selecting the option as "Clear data and lock" . We need to select only "Clear data" in the flash tool.

Hi there,
I encountered the same issue. I tried to flash some CN Rom without enough research, without knowing that you can't just flash an Android 10 rom from 9 directly by recovery (even TWRP). So I ended up Fastboot or TWRP but never able to boot into system. Fortunately I didn't flash my Max3 by fastboot rushly, so my phone was still unlocked.
This is how I solved it:
1. Download an official CN ROM (the below I used is MIUI 11 with Android 9.9.x);
I can't post link here but search "miui通过线刷升级" - you shall see a miui.com link ending with shuaji-393.html. That's the page I download the Mi Max3 ROM from.
2. Use MiFlash to flash the official ROM with the flash option "clean all", NOT "clean All and lock";
3. The phone shall reboot into system, give it 5-10 minutes;
4. Flash the miui.eu ROM you like (DO make sure it is Android 9 tho) by recovery (tutorial given under every official xiaomi.eu ROM download).
Again it's easy to search
It took me less than an hour to do it (I don't have much experience with new XiaoMi phone). So don't worry about bricking your phone forever.
Hope it helps to destress
Hi guys. I need some help too because I'm not totally sure what I have to do here so if anyone can give me some tips I would appreciate it.
I just ordered the 128gb 6gb ram version of Mi Max 3 and it might come with the global rom and already unlocked. Should I use the Mi flash tool to install the file MIUI 11 V11.0.3.0.PEDCNXM android 9 fastboot file? then after that installs I should lock the bootloader and then unlock it again myself with my mi own account? I just want to make sure that this is the correct way to do it.
Also after it I unlock it should I flash the newest xiaomi.eu rom with android 10 or do i have to do something else first? Thank you
Hello all,
As a consequence of a recent OTA update to MIUI 12.5.2, Google Play and Google apps ceased to work on my Redmi Note 8 Pro (begonia) CN version. In order to have them back again, I am considering switching to a stock ROM for the global version of the RN8Pro.
Does this sound like a reasonable plan?
Are there hardware differences between the CN version and the global version of the RN8Pro?
Can I go ahead and flash a global version ROM over a CN version ROM?
Would this allow me to install Google Play and Google apps on the RN8Pro?
Thanks!
You can. You are not asking for impossible. But it will cost you your data as your phone will be wiped in the process.
The procedure is Unlock bootloader -> Flash Global/EEA/Indonesia/Xiaomi.eu ROM (but the guys at xiaomi.eu stopped the development of the ROM long ago, so only ancient version of MIUI is available) OR even a custom ROM (wichever you like). You will find the corresponding tutorial in this device's forum.
@kekesed97: Thanks!
After a one-week wait (Xiaomi imposes this waiting period for bootloader unlocking), I was able to unlock the bootloader and flash a stock global ROM to my RN8Pro. Everything went fine. The phone was working perfectly, with its bootloader still unlocked.
Then I fell into a trap.
After reading about things that would not work on a phone with unlocked bootloader (Google Pay, banking apps, etc.), I decided to relock the bootloader of my RN8Pro. Did that by running "fastboot oem lock" on a PC connected to the phone.
Relocking the bootloader kind of bricked the phone. The RN8Pro is now stuck in the menu for "MIUI Recovery 5.0", with the following message at the bottom of the screen:
"This MIUI version can't be installed on this device"
Is there a way out of this trap?

Some GooglePay and banking apps can be used after pass safetynet by doing something with Magisk. And you should read something about lock bootloader before doing that. China phone only can be locked with China Miui roms, by chose clean and lock on Miflashtool (best way to prevent brick). So if you want to do that, better downgrade to Miui 12.0.x to use Google apps and no more updates. And if anything else you want to be helped, join group on Telegram and get help.

Thanks, @Kirasu2080. Now I see that I should have flashed a MIUI 12.0.x China version ROM, rather than a global ROM.
But I still don't see how to fix things... Since phone is stuck in recovery with its bootloader locked, it appears as there is no way for me to downgrade now.

You need to do the "EDL mode or Test point".
Lock xiaomi devices can be unbricked using that method.
Flash firmware using EDL or Test point mode. Please search in youtube.
Hi everybody,
I recently tried to downgrade from 12.5.5.0 to 12.0.2.0 recovery version.
It was not a good idea since phone does not start any more and has a black screen no matter what I do.
But it can access fastboot mode...
My question:
Its locked unfortunately and I cannot access it anymore since it does not boot.
Is it possible to flash ANY Rom to it?
I tried it with several ROMs but Miflash tool always blocks the procedure since phone is locked...
Is there a ROM for the Mi 11 Lite 4G that is accepted by the MiFlash tool in locked state?

The problem is not the ROM version to be accepted but your device itself, due to the locked status it refuses to accept any partition to be flashed.
This same principle doesn't matter in EDL mode, but XM11 (and most of, if not all, Xiaomi devices) require of an authorized account for Mi Flash tool.
If you at least did bind your Mi account and started the process to unlock bootloader, then you still can do this.
Did you fixed the problem? If yes, how?

@SubwayChamp already mentioned how one'd go about it:
- If the phone was bound to the owner's Mi account, starting a bootloader unlock process and if it is able to go forward, it could then be restored to a working state.
- Perhaps... sideloading a full recovery ROM if access to the stock recovery and Mi Assistant were an option, although just like with EDL, I'm guessing some sort of authorization takes place (it used to several years ago).
- Take the phone to a service center and plead one's case, they could be willing to flash the device with an official build, although if it were me I'd require proof of ownership at least.
- Resort to a 3rd party service / app that deals in auth. EDL flashes for money.
That's about it, these days there's not even a point in opening a device to access the test points.
