Hi,
I installed PE.img ok, then app updates started crashing useful app, like gmail & the dialler.
My ****ty intuition buggered up the antenna and the modem - BT, WIFI and the 4G all down, sims not recognised.
Following the advice here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/android-pie-image-how-to-flash-stock-t3874391
I ran just this bit
fastboot flash modem_a modem.img
fastboot flash modem_b modem.img
-> Now I have the WIFI & BT back in play, ace!
My question is - what do the other rom components do, specifically which concern recognising the sim cards?
Thanks a bundle!

compatabilty between full rom images.
Hi,
I assume the compatibility you refer to means that you can't mix & match? After a reboot it now all works fine, I guess because the modem.img is close to stock on the pixel experience image?
I just got a bricked A1 back to full health using a similar method to the link I posted, just unzip stock and flash each bit with fastboot.
Have a good eve
For the modem specifically, I'd guess the modem hardware is rejecting downgrades, hence the need to keep "new" modem firmware when downgrading.

Here is a very alpha build of 4.0.3 for the UMTS 3G Xoom, ie., MZ601 (everest). I'm going to be trying to get something better soon, but it's quite serviceable for now.
Disclaimers/notes:
* There's no guarantees with this build, but if you have any issues, providing an "adb lolcat", "dmesg", or "adb lolcat -b radio" output depending on the issue would at least help.
* The framework is _blindly_ hacked to get a stable data connection, so reliability issues may be present (see below); I will be trying to improve this most of all for a subsequent build. Let me know if anyone's interested in the technical details. I will be providing patches of some kind later.
* The RIL's been taken off a 3.2 Telstra AU build and tested on an AU device on Telstra only. Unknown if this works at all for overseas users of the 601, 605, or on other carriers.
* The boot images will start in insecure mode (ie., adb will run as root) but the correct su binary has not been pushed.
Known issues:
* RSSI indications not correct (always shows full strength) (will be fixed in future build)
* If moving and connection drops, data connection is not reestablished properly. To work-around, enable and disable Airplane Mode for this
* after first flash, requires reboot to make data active. (will be fixed in future build)
* gps broken (will be fixed in future build)
Known tested:
* camera
* cellular data connection (although see known issues above)
* wi-fi
* wi-fi tether
* speaker dock
* video playback
Not tested:
* face unlock
* update zips not tested, but probably will not work -- use adb.
* maybe other things
Not provided:
* gapps -- get them elsewhere, and also note above re update zips and adb. Manually installing the "beta" CM ICS gapps seems to work fine.
This is a set of fastboot images: flash all images and "fastboot erase cache", then reboot twice.

I work also on Stingray Source to get 3g working !!
Hope we could get it work really stable without bugs !!!
Does this widget work for signal strength? Works well on 3.2

Hello,
I have been having a very frustrating problem with my device on 4.2.2. No matter which rom I am on, flashing a radio causes me to lose network connectivity completely (with the exception of WiFi). I mean, all the information in Settings>About Phone>Status is all wiped out. Everything displays "unknown," even the serial number, the MEID, IMEI, ICCID, everything in that menu is erased, including the baseband version.
The only way I have been able to fix this is to go back to my 4.1.1 backup and then flash a 4.2.2 ROM over it. This issue scares me because my phone becomes completely unusable, and it makes me miss my Nexus S4G, on which flashing radios did no such thing.
So is there a special method for flashing radios that I am missing? I tried backing up and restoring only the EFS portion and then flashing radios and then repairing permissions in TWRP, all of which yield no result. I am forced to revert back to 4.1.1 to restore connectivity then flash my 4.2.2 rom. Please, I'm begging you, if anybody knows what the hell is going on, please tell me!
How are you flashing? Fastboot? I'm thinking something you're doing might not be compatible with 4.2.2..
I've been flashing regular zips like I'm used to doing. Should I try fastboot flashing the .img files instead?
I actually prefer fastboot to .zips, but i'm not sure that's the problem. Also, I believe mysid and mysidspr need two radios, the cdma and lte? Perhaps you're trying older radios which will not work on the newest android? Maybe newer radio drivers? Does the radio that comes with your 4.2.2 roms work?
EDIT: And i'd back up that factory folder when all is fine, in multiple places, just in case. Check out Hellcat's ktool as well.
Yeah, all the zips have CDMA and LTE radios both, and both get flashed
I'll tell you what happened...I had GA02 on 4.2.2, decided to flash FC12, reboot, no network connectivity to any Sprint towers whatsoever. Tried reflashing and repairing permissions, no dice. Restored 4.1.1 and GA02 was back on. Tried flashing FC12 again on 4.1.1 and it worked fine

download LTE radio and CDMA radio from here or here. put them in fastboot folder.put your phone in fastboot mode, open cmd in the folder and type:
for LTE Radio:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio-toroplus-(radio number).img
for CDMA Radio:
Code:
fastboot flash radio-cdma radio-cdma-toroplus-(radio number).img
then:
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Whatever happened to josteink's radio dumps thread? I can't seem to find it..
EDIT: NVM, that's all GSM. But it doesn't appear to be on xda anymore.

Hello
I will try to be simpler as i can
I have a MI MAX Prime (4GB/128)
Everything was ok and working right until MIUI 8.2.3.0 OTA arrived.
After update my phone started to experience Network disconnects and reconnects, "NO SIM Card, NO NETWORK, VIRGIN 4G", This happens at random periods but more often when i wake up phone from idle.
Nobody on Xiaomi Forums helped me, not even developers, Phone carrier told me to change sim card but problem persisted.
3 sympthoms.
1. After upgrading to 8.2.3.0 i can't search for networks manually. (http://attach.en.miui.com/forum/201705/09/033557amdkj2j33bkmyybm.jpg)
2. I use a MVNO which says i must use Roaming even locally, but this NEVER worked even if activated (http://attach.en.miui.com/forum/201705/09/233925hg9b3p55hm3pcpk9.png.thumb.jpg)
3. I noticed this weird pattern while charging (http://i.imgur.com/SPtvuqY.png)
I have done a factory reset and a rom flash via EDL, but problem remains.
I really don't know what to do now
Thanks in advance for your assistance
Well I am on the 8.2.5 Mi Max (not prime) & you can choose network manually by:
Settings - Sim card and mobile networks - tap on the preferred sim card - mobile networks & switch off the chose automatically and select preferred one.
You have to describe beter what is happening with your network connection. Does it gets blocked or disconnects completely (aka ril restarts) also does switch on/of air-plane mode resolves it?

In half a second Network disconnects and reconnects,
first "NO SIM Card"
Then "NO NETWORK"
Then "VIRGIN 4G",
It disconnects and reconnects every time.
Specially when unlocking the phone
Notice there is not airplane mode activated

Definitely a software one, simply something didn't fit in (either a RIL or related cellular radio libs) good when you updated so you need to revert to previous one with other RIL and libs. Then you can try again with 8.2.3.0...
Flashed to 8.2.1.0 with miflash via EDL mode.
Problem remains... Seriously WtH?

Assuming that your bootloader is unlocked I suggest you flash exactly the version with which the phone came, I flash ever with any issue via adb-fastboot placing decompress rom files in the same folder in c: with option "flash all".

Please wipe all data in Recovery mode if you want to update to a discontinuous ROM version, or downgrade to an older ROM version using MIUI full ROM pack.
I don't have access to recovery mode since i don't have TWRP and my phone is bootloader locked
After downgrading to 8.2.1.0 and rebooting twice the problem has been fixed, it's been 48 hours and there is no more issue
it's really sad that NOBODY at Xiaomi forums/Help desk/ customer support gave a single S#it about it.
If you are going to purchase a Xiaomi phone, think it twice, there is 0 support. Besides XDA.

I have a strange thing going on with the storage. I updated to Pie, wiped everything, but in the settings, under storage > other apps and system shows incorrect value.
I reset all from the settings but it didn't change anything. I reset from recovery (stock - wipe all) it still persists. What should I do?
how you updated?
this problem solfed if manually edit flash script for fastboot. you need change "system_other.img" to "system.img" and reflash all
Through MiFlash.
OMG. Do you mean flash_all_lock.bat, flash_all_lock.sh, flash_all_lock_crc.bat or flash_all_lock_crc.sh? Or sth else? I saw this one system_other.img when comparing to 9.6.4.0 but thought it should be fine.
I reflashed Pie with changed values in all the above files but I lost my SIM cards. So I flashed 9.6.4.0 Oreo again, just plain stock and leave it.
---
I was on the stock 9.6.4.0 and OTA update at this point has 2 stages. First one updates to 9.6.11.0 Oreo with November security update which messes up SIM cards, one slot isn't working at all and WiFi/LTE internet is super slow. The second one updates to Pie but SIM cards' problems persists. The only solution with skipping this troublemaker is updating via MiFlash, but in this case there's a storage bug, because of system_other.img. When I reflashed with corrected fastboot files I lost 2 SIM cards so I went back to Oreo.

to solve problem with sim cards
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78822763&postcount=44
This doesn't work for me, I get a bootloop whenever I flash modem.img only. And even when I get my SIM cards to work the slots are swapped. Tried that many times. I had to reprogram my IMEIs via QFIL. But I found a solution to the storage problem, which works for updating to Pie via MiFlash: just enter EDL mode (fastboot oem edl), unlock bootloader first and lock afterwards.
First I'd like to say a hearty 'Thank you' to all the people outside there providing LOS and assistance for the Moto G5 generally.
I updated my XT1676 with/from LOS16 (incl. TWRP, Magisk and Gapps nano) to LOS17.1 (incl...) succesfull following the short step by step tutorial recommended from "TheFixItMan" in one 'ROM'-threat a few days ago.
Now I need help with a telephony problem, which occured after the update and I didnt expect: Building connections works, I can hear my conversational partner, but he can not hear me. This occurs not only calling via mobile network, but also using the Signal-Messenger for a call, independent who of both establishes the connection.
'use-microphone'-privilege is set for the telephone- and the Signal-app.
device microphone works, recording voice with the recording-app and voice-notes via Signal are possible.
Using a headset works, too, but it has to be plugged in before a connection is established. Plugging the headset while connection does not work, unplugging the headset while connection and re-plugging loses voice.
The behavior of the telephone-app and Signal (voice AND video-call) is is similar in that case.
Does anyone know what to do? What can I do, where and what should I read?
Downgrade to LOS16 or waiting for a new nightly?
Thank you!
Edit:
Probably this is a the solution. Does that mean, simply flashing a stock oreo and re-flashing LOS17.1/Los Mint after that should solve the problem?
Did I got that right?
Can I use simply last cedric TWRP for that?
What means 'fastboot-firmware'? Ist that firmware part of the Stock-ROM?

If you flash a custom rom then the firmware it's based on needs to match the firmware on your device
Custom roms for this device from android 9 and above use oero stock firmware as their base
The parts that are different that are effecting you would be the modem part of the firmware
Flash the latest stock firmware via fastboot then you can flash the latest custom roms
Note looks like below server is down so either wait or find elsewhere
lolinet mirrors - firmware, software, iso etc.
lolinet mirrors - powered by h5ai
mirrors.lolinet.com
Success!
That was really the solution! Thanks to 'TheFixItMan' and 'Andrej_SK' for his "HowTO"!
I got some trouble keeping TWRP permanently stored, though I followed it's instructions, but downgrading to a former version and reflashing the latest solved that. Maybe it was an issue of an 'invalid/bad key', what occured while flashing the firmware ROM and was notified later on the "yo-can-not-trust-this-device-screen". It has disappeared, N/A is shown now.
Now I've got a device with LOS 17.1, GApps, Magisk, TWRP working fine. No phone/voice-Problems remaining.
