Install Lineage OS on HTC ONE M8, with broken volume buttons. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have been wanting to speed up my HTC One M8 for some time now. Doing so i've heard installing a new OS would help, like for instance LineageOS. Unfortunately the volume buttons on my phone are broken due to me opening up the phone to fix certain parts. Everything else is working to its fullest, however the volume buttons seem to be beyond repair. I've looked at quite a few guides to flash an OS rom onto my phone, however all these seem to require me navigating with the volume buttons through the bootloader. Is it possible to either simulate a press on volume buttons perhaps through ADB, or completely install the new OS with the phone fully opened? If you have any ideas i'm open for suggestions, as the phone is starting to get quite slow, however i would appreciate an in-depth guide, as i've worked very little with ADB and such.
Any help is appreciated

No way to simulate a button press, that I know of. You don't have access to adb while in bootloader, anyway . You do have access to fastboot, but that is rather limited.
Getting the bootloader unlocked and flashing custom recovery TWRP with the phone open, is possible I suppose. Then after that, I guess you can conceivably boot TWRP and flash a ROM without the vol buttons. But I'd be really hesitant to mod the phone without working vol buttons. The requirement to navigate with the vol buttons in bootloader, as well as the button combo to force a reboot (power+vol up) or boot to bootloader (power+ vol down) are pretty crucial.

c:\adb.exe reboot recovery
or
c:\adb.exe reboot botloader

[Q] Stuck in bootloader, anyone help?!

Whats happened is my phone was running abit slow earlier and the volume keys were not working with the music player so i decided to restart it. Now whenever i boot the phone up it boots straight into bootloader and it doesnt respond to both volume keys and the power button. The only way i can switch it off is by removing the battery.
I have tried booting the phone into recovery using adb, and i get the error device not found. Ive also tried booting it and holding the power button down but it still again boots into bootloader.
I seriously need to fix the phone as its got info stored thats important, so whoever gives steps that bring the phone back to life, Ill be donating money to them.
Thanks
You can't use adb but fastboot.
try to find some tuto on google. You can flash all with fastboot.
Sorry I'm not familiar enough to help more, just an idea.
If can boot fastboot can try to install a new recovery image

If its going straight to hboot with no help from you(ie not pressing button combo) the your volume key is probably stuck. Take off the battery cover and GENTLY try to loosen the volume rocker to get it unstuck
Do you have CWM?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I think your phone volume switch press continuous. So its starts bootloader every time. Real Solution to repair your phone (Maybe it's liguid demage maybe main flex)

[Q] Alternate ways to get into recovery after a bad flash?

My Desire is gonna be 4 years old soon, so naturally a few bits & pieces aren't as good as new. My main problem is the volume down button: It's just dead. It doesn't do anything, no matter how hard / where I press. It used to be that it didn't register anything just after the 3rd-4th try, but now it does nothing at all.
I like installing roms, but now I'm afraid, what if I encounter a bad flash? If I get a bootloop, I just can't get into recovery via the volume down + power combo. And that would mean that my phone is dead. Bricked.
Is there any way to change this combination to, for example trackpad + power button, or something like this? Or is there any way to get into recovery when I encounter a bootloop / bad flash that doesn't require pressing the volume down button?

Back+power button gets you in fastboot. Then select Bootloader, and then recovery.
Or you can use back + power to get into fastboot, then use "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot directly into the recovery.
Or
adb reboot recovery
From your PC via USB cable, you can type that even when currently in bootloop ( no need to pull battery)
Thank you, I'm a little more optimistic about flashing now

[Q] Stuck in Safe Mode, need workaround(s)

My hardware buttons have been playing up a bit recently, power and volume down buttons not working or working poorly one day, fine the next.
Today when I was flashing another ROM onto my phone, my volume down button decided to stop working in an Aroma installer, which obviously doesn't really work out with our phone. I had to run my phone flat to exit the installer due to not being able to move the cursor downwards.
When I charged it a bit and rebooted, the phone went into the bootloader, since it seems the down button is constantly pressed. The power button won't select anything, and the volume up moves the selection downwards. Turns out booting connected to power changes things, because it got me to recovery rather than the bootloader. I flashed the latest version of Revolution, booted fine, but in safe mode. Unfortunately it seems the way to get out of safe mode is by holding a hardware combination during boot, but none of the buttons register as they should.
Tl;dr broken volume down, temperamental power button, phone stuck in safe mode. Figure I can reflash a ROM to clear it, but I reckon I'll end up in the same situation. Any get arounds or is it time to start shopping for a phone to tide me over until my plan expires?

No hardware buttons work!!

Hi
Could some one tell me why i cant get in recovery or factory mode with hardware buttons, i am on stock 10d with twrp recovery installed and rooted wirh super su through twrp. I installed twrp through adb with normal command and device works just fine through reboot apps from os, boots in recovery, fastboot etc just fine, same through adb commands.
But there's no hardware combo or anyrhing working when trying to enter recovery or factory reset working at all?
Tryied every combo i could find saying how to from internet.
It just boot up in os as usual.
And phone dosen't reset while holding power button for 10s + either
It's a bit scary because bootloop is going to come eventually for sure and then there's no rescuing avalible
Could someone plz tell me whats going on?
Im new to g4 so, some help would be nice.
Thanks in advace
It's a bit tricky, to be honest.
• Power off your phone
• Hold "Volume-Down" and keep your "Power-Button" pressed. So you should keep both pressed, until the 1st LG logo appears
• Now just leave the "Power-Button" for ~1 second whilst kept the "Volume-Down" button still pressed, press now the "Power-Button" again and keep holding it
You're now forced to deal with the standard-ui from LG. Go to "Yes" and again "Yes". TWRP now boots and you should be fine .
Edit: Just my tiny story... I watched several videos and also had a nasty bootloop. I was afraid, I now bricked my phone. But a nice user showed me this way and this was the only way, I got my phone recovered.

Can't use hardware keys to reboot into recovery

I have the t-mobile LG G$ (H811) and can't use the hardware keys to reboot into recovery.
I have CM13 and TWRP installed (previously had CM12.1/TWRP with the same issue).
I can use software to reboot into recovery, but not the hardware method.
I have tried all the combinations I can find, basically consisting of:
-turning on and pressing the power + volume down or power + volume down + volume up
-releasing power for 1 second when the lg logo comes up
-pressing the power again
No matter what I try, the phone continues to boot as normal.
I can easily get into download mode though
Is there any way to reboot from download into recovery?
I had a problem with a bad CM flash that bootlooped (not the bad lg bootloop problem) - and my only way out was to re-flash stock and go from there - it was a time consuming pain. I am just trying to figure out some way of booting into TWRP recovery - I can't seem to get the recommended keypress sequence to work.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Real hard, but I finally got it to work. It is all a matter of timing. Power button needs to be released (and pressed) before the unlocked bootloader message comes on, but not too soon.
Even knowing that, I still only get it right 50% of the time.

I found this sequence to work best for me.
First hold volume down then press power down
When the logo shows up, release power and then press again.
