Not sure when this started, but today I clicked on at-a-glance widget to check weather and instead of usual page I got chrome opened on a weather search with on top weather results as per attachment, but I cannot click on anything.
Google app is version 9.72.1.21
Thanks
You must be in the beta program for the Google app or you are running Android Q. Latest version on the Play Store here is 9.61.9.21.arm64, released on April 11th. That version does not have this issue with the at a glance widget.
Yes I'm on beta for Google app...
Maybe a bug then
If so, then report it to Google. That is what the beta program is for.

It's the newest update to Google Beta. It has nothing to do with Q. I updated G Beta today (on Q), and I started getting the same issue. It'll probably be fixed in the next update.
Going to the regular Google app will fix it, as you mentioned.

I would like to add that you can report it to Google directly from the Play Store. Leave a review there. Reviews on Google beta apps are only seen by the developers.
I left a review, and I'm sure many others have as well. You should to. The more people that complain, the more quickly they will fix it (I hope).
I just updated to 9.72.2.21 and am still having the same problem. Annoying.

You can always roll back. Download the last version from apkmirror.com It's safe to get apps from there. They aren't modified at all, and I believe that XDA is involved with that site.

There's been no Changelog posted so I guess this update is for those who experienced the "Package file is invalid" error. I'm not 100% sure about that though as I didn't have any problems.
If the error still exists or you notice anything new, let me know and I'll update this accordingly

Once again, I've not seen a changelog posted yet so I can't tell fully what has been changed. However, as you can see from the attached screenshot, sliding navigation has been implemented. If I find out about any other changes I'll add them to this post. Please let me know if you find any other changes aswell

Give me the old Google Play Store back!! This thing sucks! It prompts me when I do an "Update All" when I have app updates and if I don't have "allow automatic updating" checked. Talk about annoying! Also, this thing has borked my app updates and any new installs as well. Google really laid a turd with this Play Store update!!

I have complained about this and asked for it to be removed on the Zentalk forum suggestions section.
Can you post a screenshot? I don't see any ads.
I also saw this after the most recent launcher app update and removed the icon, but don't see anything in my app drawer.

Not in the app drawer, it's actually embedded in the preferences bit of the launcher settings (brought up by long pressing the homescreen)

Yes, get on Zentalk and get complaining people. ASUS need to know we don't like this crap.

Stock launchers are never great, Nova Prime took over 5 minutes I had my ZF2, been good since then. Samsung was the worst for their launcher, sluggish as heck.
It popped up on mine after the update today....I sent it to trash immediately but this is bogus....yes we should all get on Zentalk and complain...
true we have to complain this on zentalk..its too much! adds on the phone we paid for $ 300? wtf!
I saw an Ad the very first time i watched a video on YouTube but since then ive rooted and used adblock so i dont know if its a one time thing or a repetitive thing.

I am on the latest version and don't see it, maybe its because i'm rooted and deleted most bloatware already?
I've updated to the latest version & all I see is "Enable Hot Downloads" which I don't do... so no ads.
It took a while for the icon to eventually show up for me, but it was at a random time returning to home that triggered it after I updated.
There's a growing thread on their ZenTalk forum. Anyone that wants to join stating their dislike of this can find the thread in the Suggestion -> ZenFone section with the title [Launcher] Hot Downloads embedded in Zen UI Launcher.
Unfortunately my XDA account is too new to provide a direct link.

No you will still get Playstore updates as long as they are a newer version then the one you sideloaded.
This is available now. You can get it from APK mirror
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/messenger-google-inc/messenger-google-inc-3-5-048-release/
The APK method does work and will get updates - it's the same APK you'd get from the play store.
Once installed, force-close the app and you should have the new interface next time you open it.

This is awesome! Now just for Gmail. I can't stand the stupid 5 year old kid crayon colors Google's been using... BUT, what the hell happened to the widget??? Mine disappeared, and there is no widget to select now either... This is NOT okay.

Soooo, I changed my wallpaper, and now the new look is gone. Seriously. I've force closed, cleared cache, rebooted, nothing will bring it back. What. The. Eff... Maybe it wasn't turned on correctly on the server side with this update? Anyone else have this problem? I really miss it, but I went back one version and have my widget back. Not sure which I want more...
I installed the apk from apkmirror, forced closed and it was there, for 2 days..... It has since reverted back to the old layout with no dark mode option. Anyone else?

Are their any Pixel 3XL owners who are on the Google Beta Program? My weather information continues to disappear in the "At A Glance" section. If you've experienced this are there any workarounds aside from unenrolling from the Beta program?
my understanding was this was a server-side issue last time it occurred....but I could be wrong.....I am in beta program and yes have lost weather as of yesterday afternoon. When this happened last month it was all Home devices but my other ones are showing weather still...
If you uninstall the update the weather will come back. If you reinstall the beta update it will work again only for a short time and then will disappear again.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yeah. On a different, yet related note, I noticed that when in the current Google beta program, long pressing my Pixel Buds and asking for the time or what the weather's going to be like didn't illicit a response, yet asking to play the next track or tell me what's on my agenda would work just fine. When I unenrolled from the program and used the regular Google app everything worked fine. Weird, huh?? I wanted to stay in the beta program so I could use and listen to the Google Podcasts app on my wireless Android Auto Pioneer Nex4400 Unit. I can't do that on the regular Google app
I was on Beta of Google app and my weather disappeared 2 days ago. Funny, I was just searching about this very subject. I had to uninstall the beta version and install standard version then weather showed right away. You can always put the weather app on your homescreen but it takes up more space.
Left the beta today because of this. I want my weather to be there for easy access on the main screen. If and when they fix it, then maybe I'll come back to the beta. Not that they care...lol.
i just added a shortcut on the homescreen until it magically comes back good enuf for me.

Really? "Not that they care". It's beta for a reason. Some stuff isn't going to work correctly. If they didn't care they wouldn't release beta's. It's how Google figures out what if any adverse effects any changes they made have in the real world.

I meant that not that they care if I'm on the beta or not. I'm a software developer myself, I know what "beta" means. I just don't like missing options I use daily.
I believe the new beta that just came out today, v9.0.3.21 solves the weather problem.

Yeah, that's what I did. I joined again after hearing there was a new update, but it seems like it did not fix according to those here. Mine is still showing weather, but the bug usually causes it to leave after some time. Guess we'll see. If it goes away again, I'll leave the beta again I guess. I like being a member of the beta and getting the new features first, but I do like having the weather there as well.
Edit: Nope. Weather went away again. Oh well, leave the beta again...

Since the latest update, when I open the phone app for the first time (or after it shuts down from timeout), a few of my favorites seem to "flash". If this doesn't make sense, I'll try to post attach a video later tonight. Can anyone tell me why this is and how to disable it?
Instructions to reproduce: Click favorites on phone app so it is first to display on reopening. Force close phone app. Open phone app.
So, after playing with this more, I found out that this only happens when I'm signed in to my Duo account. The contacts that flash don't seem to coincide with those who have Duo access, especially since one of the accounts that flash is a landline only account.
So far, I haven't been able to find a fix or a way to disable this. It is super annoying when I'm used to just opening the phone app and clicking on a favorite, only to have it fail because the favorite flashed and didn't capture the touch input.
I agree this is due to Duo....havent looked into it, but yeah its a bit annoying IMHO too!
