I just wanted to let y'all know that I have a spare galaxy vr 2016 edition around with the USB C adapter.
Its a little finicky on the connection side, but it doesn't strain the port and the phone snaps in fine. Once u get it /just/ right the home/back/volume and trackpad work on the vr.
I only tested it by loading a video in youtube and then tapping on the 3-dots and the "cardboard" button, but it works and pretty well too as long as you don't need to navigate around much
When in youtube as long as you got the touch pad working u can recenter the video by looking just beyond the edge of the video and tapping the track pad
I'll have to mess with other cardboard apps, I figured I would post up in case anyone else was interested or for others to report what apps work well or not so well with it.
Maybe someone will figure out exactly what needs to be tweaked near the port to get the phone to detect it every time. Perhaps the headset is drawing too much power? I haven't plugged a charger into the headset while the phone is in, I'm not willing to risk testing that.
I will say that I did need a reboot after removing the phone from the VR, it def seemed to slow things down a bit, chrome wouldn't even fully load.
Everything's been fine after rebooting though
I also have a spare 2016 model unused from my wife's old S7.
I'm curious which adapter you used. Do you have a link?
Thanks!
Even without the adapter, I can't get my G6 in the VR I got from my original S7. Was the VR that came with the standard S7 different than what came with the S7 Edge? It is just simply too tall. Ideas or am I being stupid?
Does it work with 2017 Gear VR ?
I've used my G6 in 2017 Gear VR it fits just fine. I used it as a daydream headset with all the necessary daydream apps and services installed which I found on XDA for G5 - you have to be on custom rom though.
Experience is not that good due to display but it works nonetheless.

Yeah, I am on stock rom unfortunately
Well you can use Cardboard apps/games and use GearVR just as any cardboard headset.
I have lg g6 and gear vr with usb type-c, and when I connect them my phone starts endlessly making sounds of connection/disconnection. Buttons do not work at all. Did you do something especial before plugging?
Is there anybody who found a VR-Headset for the S8+? The most of the VR's I've seen only support devices 'til 6inch Display, but our device is bigger .... Any recommendations?
It works in the gear VR..
The best will be the new Gear VR by Samsung itself.
Hello everybody, I've noticed that my S9 gives a notification sound when I put it on wallet which has my bank card inside of it. Does anybody have an explanation for that
Thnx
Maybe the S9 recognizes the bank card as a NFC-tag
Anyone know if the A50 supports Gear VR? I’ve checked the Samsung page and I know it’s not listed as a supported device but since the S10 is also missing I’m not sure how up to date it is. Thanks a million!
No
I connect it to Gear VR
And nothing happened
As you mentioned that you connected your Galaxy A50 and nothing happened. My question to you is does the Galaxy A50 fits in? My point is what if the A50 fits in and suppose i don't want to use gear vr's sensors, nothing at all. I want to put my mobile the gear vr doesnt work by connecting that's okay. But if it fits and if we can see through the lenses and it works in offline mode? I.e. no sensors using, no battery using, device is attached there and you are watching vr video? Will that work? Please try that hack and update me. I am dying to buy Gear Vr fir my Galaxy A50 which has video playback resolution support of 4K @120fps as same as Galaxy flagship S10.
Thanks
hello, i have both the gear vr, and a galaxy a50. ive messaged samsung/called them, etc, and they all say it is mot supported. however, the a50 does sort of fit in the gear vr, the connector i have is a little rounded, so it doesnt entirely fit in all the way down. the mouse pad on the gear itself does actually function for me, and so does motion tracking. i did also manage to sideload an apk for the occulus store after some digging. most apps/games do work with a regular gamepad. i have issues with minecraft for the gear showing dounle vision. also, anytime i try to connect the gear vr controller included with the headset, the app crashes. so, it does KIND OF work. you can force it to. its not optimal, however.
Hey, u ever get this to work?
Hi, hoping to find a possible reason for this concern.
I have a Samsung A6 Plus mobile phone and a samsung galaxy watch connected via bluetooth. I recently bought a Redmi Airdots wireless earphone but everytime I pair the airdots and play music, my samsung galaxy watch disconnects. Any possible reason for this?
Thank you so much.
