Switch to selfie camera on "photo" mode (not the portrait mode) than click the face icon up there.

While watching a video on YT put 2 fingers on the screen at the same time and then spread them outwards. Example: http://www.mysmartphonetutor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/250px-Gestures_Unpinch.png
Only problem is that the video will be zoomed into/stretched to fit the 18:9 screen ratio so, if there's subtitles on the video for example, only part of the subs (like the top part) will show.

Its not working for me. I am from India. Can it have anything to do with my country. Like country specific version of YouTube or phone itself??

Theres nothing to do with country.
I am from India as well and pinch to zoom and fit the screen works just like a mellow..

Yesterday I did a factory reset. Even after this it was not working.
Today after seeing this comment, I checked again and its working
Wanted to ask one more question once we have zoomed in, does all videos default to zoomed in state? I have played couple of videos and it seems to stick. I will actually prefer this.

I dont think it sticks.. Youtube and almost all the apps are not optimized for 18:9 screen.. Apps stick cz its a setting but YouTube zoom is not a setting but a preference..
Apps need to optimize it for the new aspect ratio..
I think the resin of black bars is that most videos are in 16:9 while the 7X has an 18:9 screen

Just pinch to zoom, if it doesn't work try updating the YouTube app and otherwise maybe apply for early access

Ok now I installed the "Mi A2 Camera" from magisk downloads and my portrait problem is solved!
Do you guys notice a diference in the portrait mode when using the A2 lite (stock) camera vs the A2 camera? The harware is quite different, and I believe A2 lite secondary camera is used as a depth meter, so more blur in the background when using portrait mode. Am I right?
So far everything works except for the group selfie. Thx

Mi A2 camera app (magisk module - to download directly via magisk downlaod manager) is better than stock! Portrait mode works better and also for front camera!
I updated the magisk A2 camera module to the latest version and it comes with a couple extra features, but more bugs. Portrait isn't working, and manual controls aren't there anymore.
Do any of you guys still have the previous version and can share the file here? Thx!

Installed today and it works perfectly! I tried to install magisk Mi A2 camera module version 4.0 firstly, but camera crashed and it duplicated the main camera... so, I couldn't use it.
This one, replaces the stock camera and the results, in my opinion are better. Better portrait mode and better pictures in low light conditions and better front camera pictures. I think that this app really makes a difference. The manual mode is awesome too.
I have installed Gcam too and now I can use both too.

Android 9 pie not working
Hi . I used this on my xiaomi mi a2 lite with Android 8 and it worked fine and thanks but now I updated my phone to Android 9 and I installed your file , it's not working on Android 9 . Crashing . Camera is not opening . I even cleaned camera data but still not working. Help please

Hello to Mi a3 users.
Though stock camera app is click nice photos and portraits in well lighting condition but gcam is gem for camera2 api enabled phone and fortunately this time xiaomi has it enabled and given spectacular rear and front lenses in mia3.
Disclaimer: i am not a developer and this is not my work here i am just providing details of apk and best optimization option for camera app.

So far no any dedicated mod is being developed for mia3 to use wide lense.
What about front camera?in mi A2 lite It does not work with HDR+ enabled
The processing does not go to 100% in my Mi A3. Only about 70-80%.

Tested now, with no XMLs activated, pure stock and so far so good ... also quality is good, better, a lot better than stock cam. Don`t ask pics please, the smartphone I`ve tested is not mine, it`s my father who owns it

Since I`m trying to improve the photo quality somehow for the smartphone my father use, I`ve searched a bit about what camera module it uses and I`ve found out that is the same module (Sony IMX582 sensor) used on redmi k20 (not pro) and I will test if any Gcam ports for that modules will bring a better experience in photos, compared with the ones I`ve read here....That if my time will allow me to actually do so. If I see anything to be mentioned here I will post.

I don't know if it was an option or it appeared, but in full HD 60 video recording in FPS you can select image stabilization. However, this is probably another android bug, because stabilization does not work. Is this android 9 underdeveloped? Is simply android one stripped of its function?
