Is there a non-root way to convince the Microsoft office apps that our tab s4 has a smaller than 10.1 in screen In order to enable use without an office 365 subscription?

That's theft and asking for this option is against xda policies and rules

Go to the Galaxy Store and download Hancom Office. It seems to be optimised for this tab and edits Microsoft files. No ads and it works. I can't justify the Micro$oft costs either.

[Q] Best Finance app..............

Whats the best finance app? I need somehitng that keeps track of my per diem. I did see an app called PerDiemFY09 on the Iphone. http://www.appsafari.com/finance/8425/perdiem-fy09/
Something like that would be great. Thanks
I use SPB Finance for normal finance tracking and per diem. It can synch with MS Money and Quicken, although I haven't done that before. It also keep tracks of several (bank) accounts and can work with different currencies.
Yeah, I have that but have not explored it yet. Can it automatically sync with my bank account? Also, can it keep track of all my expenses? I travel 97% of the time & need to keep track of per diem, fuel, meals, hotel bills, etc.
The website of SPB (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/finance/) does mention that it supports OFX/QFX file. It hasn't worked for me though yet and this needs to be performed manually so far I know.
I can recommend IneSoft Cash Organizer 2008 Premium.
It has OFX file import for bank synchronizer NEW for the latest version.
I don't use the Bank sync feature but have used the program for years.
only for online banking but that can this tool perfect.
my personal choice is
Subsembly Banking
http://subsembly.com/de/banking.html
perfect secure way to manage your bankaccounts.
Alwase Pocket Quicken.

I'm REALLY interested in this, as I'm a long time Quicken user, but I'm reluctant to splash out £35 without being able to trial it first.
Does it integrate well? Is it easy to use and see?

Did you know that the "One Note" app has the shopping list and tasks list online?

Did you know that the "One Note" app has the shopping list and tasks list online?
Cool
This is definitely a nice and entertaining commercial. Microsoft should come up with more of these.
I didn't even think of using OneNote this way. Neat idea.
Man I loved this comercial, really nice way to use the OneNote Sync
What all does a person need to utilize this feature? Do you need to buy the overwhelmingly expensive desktop software? What is it...MS Exchange or something like that?

If you already have a windows phone, your OneNote files sync to Skydrive so you can view and edit them online via http://office.live.com. If you have Office 2010 desktop software, OneNote also syncs there.
I use it extensively to manage my college life.
Not bad. But I consider that with my web-based notebooks I can sync to all of my phones, even iOS. I use Evernote and it does the same thing as well as providing access on my other phones.

Onenote on the desktop comes with certain packages of Office 2010 (or 2007) but not with the Mac version.
BUt you don't have to download it.. just use the Office Web Apps from your Windows Live account.
Amazing stuff from Microsoft!

Man, I was hoping it was going to be cool... without the usual vender tie downs and non-cross platform mess.
Guess evernote will still be the goto recommend for folks interested in this kinda tech with no restrictions and expensive software tie ins.

What do you mean? If you have a hotmail/live account, you have Office Web apps.. you don't need to download/buy anything at all. It's like google documents but infinitely more useful and functional.
I don't see how evernote is better in anyway.. (except that it is available on android ..not sure onenote is yet..)
(as you can tell, I'm a huge fan of onenote.. the main reason I will be sticking to WP for a while)

You don't need the full desktop client to use it. The web interface is very powerful.

Enjoy, mate. I use Evernote, which gives me access on all of my phones, not just my WP7. And Evernote updates faster.
Evernote syncs, but the app sucks compared to onenote.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
While Evernote isn't the best web-based notebook, it's at least easier to figure out than One Note. It took me a bit to know how to make a new note and all of the things relating to it. And One Note isn't as intuitive as the web-based variety. Catch Notes is the best web-based notebook. But there isn't a WP7 version yet, so I went with Evernote until Catch Note makes a WP7 version.
To be honest, I don't like it how OneNote HAS to sync to the cloud (unless I'm doing something wrong). Sometimes I seriously have no reception - what then? For this reason, I actually use Word for note-taking.
Evernote is better.foe organizing.notes anyways. OneNote had this forever in the iOS version..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I will give you the ONE very good reason why I use OneNote and not Evernote.
Because OneNote is built in- it's made by the same people who make the OS, meaning I'm guaranteed compatibility whatever Windows device I have, and there is much more chance of the online services being reliable going forward.
I HATE third party software on mobile devices. It is the absolute bain of my life, it's very rarely done well and 90% of it is utter crap. This is why I chose Windows Phone.
I can see why you might want something that syncs to 5 different OS's, but in reality 99% of the population are very unlikely to need, care about, or have, three mobile devices, so for them OneNote is an excellent option (and the desktop software is immensely powerful, too)
That's fine many people prefer that convenience. However I'd you need superior note taking and organization tagging etc Evernote is far ahead of one note. One note still isn't really optimized for mobile yet, but it will get there.

You don't have to sync to the cloud. You can as well store your notes on the device. Just open the office app and swipe to the right. You can choose Skydrive, Phone, Sharepoint..

Printing from Kingsoft Office?

I have Kingsoft Office installed in my Nexus 7 (2013). Has anyone figured out how to print a document from Kingsoft Office to a local wlan printer?
I have iPrint app for my Brother printer. Normally, I click on "share" in any app, and then select iPrint. But in Kingsoft Office neither "share" nor "print" give me that option.
Has anyone found a way around this? I wrote to their support but they never answered.
I don't know about the Kingsoft Office specifically but I've printed several documents to my WLAN Brother Laser printer.
The way I know, is you have to download a Printer App. These will usually cost a few bucks but they all have trials to see if it will work first.
Once you find a working app, you actually open the file you want to print with the Printer app. A good app will also install itself on the "SHARE" list so you can just highlight a file in a file explorer and select Open With <Printer Software>.
Every printer app will have its own special features. You just have to find one that works and has features you want, then buy it.

I really Like Polaris. It's smooth. I have OSP, and it also seems very smooth and finished. Open Office, I have it, but I haven't messed with it much. I had no problems for the short time I spent with it.
Steve
All the faux-Office apps have limitations.
Some they share...
If you're adding or changing formatting to an existing document or adding content to a document originated on a PC the formatting can change and you can't see it until you open the document in the corresponding "real" MS Office app. So what looks fine in the Android app can look different when a recipient on a PC views it. Documents created and modified exclusively within the Android app tend to fair better formatting wise.
Spell checking sucks in Android. Some of the apps below offer spell checking and some don't. Keep in mind if you're using a BT keyboard word suggestion is disabled so there's no "real time" spelling support. That doesn't just apply to faux-Office apps it applies to pretty much all of them.
Only Polaris and OfficeSuite Pro natively support multiview which is something to consider if you do a lot of content sharing between apps when creating documents and projects.
Before commenting on the faux-Office apps here's an app I use when I want spell checking and either am using the BT keyboard or when the app I'm using doesn't offer it natively. It's called Spell Checker Pro. It's essentially an HTML text editor that allows you to create lightly formatted text, spell check it, and then send it to apps (MMS, e-mail, S Note) and copy<>paste it in to all others. The fact you need to create content in one place to ensure it's spelled correctly and then figure out how to get it to another place for actual use speaks volumes of Android's limitations as a productivity platform.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flipdog.spellchecker.paid
Quickoffice
Bought by Google in November, 2012. It's a nice clean app and offers spell checking. Formatting's fairly easy to apply but it's not as thorough (as many options) as some of the other apps. It's free which is a plus and Google's been working on improving it since they bought it. The major downside is cloud integration - it only works with Google Drive.
OfficeSuite Pro 7
I like this one but it's a PIA in a couple of ways. First, it uses its own clipboard so you can't copy<>paste with the Samsung clipboard which means you have to copy<>paste directly from app-to-app. If you have a lot of stuff you've got in Scrapbook or accumulated in the Samsung clipboard that you want to use in a document you're creating you're kind of screwed. It offers an optional spell checker and an add-on dictionary that vary in price. Their speller's pretty meh and sometimes makes bizarre suggestions. The dictionary integration's nice when you're looking for definitions, antonyms, and synonyms. They're kind of kluged in their implementation though. A misspelled word in a document shows up with a red underline. Rather than allowing you to spell check it, it allows you to look it up in the dictionary and then manually make the correction. If you want to spell check that's launched via an icon in a formatting bar at the bottom of the app. You can get it anywhere from "free" (Amazon App Store) to $14.99. The add-ons are $4.99. It's a very effective app with great formatting and editing options but it's not without its idiosyncrasies.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.editor.office_registered&hl=en
DocumentsToGo
This is a pretty decent and thorough app. It offers no spelling support other than what's provided by predictive text and autocorrect on the keyboard - which are both disabled if you're using a BT keyboard. So its got great formatting support but the lack of spell check is a real issue.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dataviz.docstogoapp&hl=en
Polaris 5
Polaris is a decent app. It offers no spelling support and the formatting, while decent, is fussy to use with lots of cascading menus and spinning wheels to select what you want. It has great S Pen support because of its integration by Samsung.
Microsoft RDP
This has become my "go-to" method for managing Office documents. It allows you to RDP in to your home or office PC and use real versions of real Windows products. It works well with a BT keyboard and mouse and, because it is "real" office, allows you the comfort and flexibility to do anything you'd normally do on a PC. It's free which certainly can't be argued with. The downside is the PC you're connecting to has to be on all the time and if you're traveling and there's a power failure or the PC unexpectedly shuts down your pretty much screwed. You also have to be on a Pro or higher version of Windows to use RDP. You also obviously need to connected to the Internet. I have a 3G N10.1-14 with unlimited data so that's not an issue for me. At times I'll work up a document using one of the local faux-Office apps I have installed and then open it via RDP just to do the final editing and formatting.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.android
The bottom line is we all use productivity apps in different ways and to do different things. There's no cut-and-tried universal "winner."
afaik, annotations on ppts cannot be saved on polaris. It lets you write them but they disappear.
Office suite seems to be the smoothest, but i only have the free version (read only).
Don't forget to try Kingsoft Office and Andropen Office too, they're my favourites.
Polaris is unflexible. I got Office HD in i think a Playstore anniversary sale over a year ago for 25 cents and stuck with it. To display pdf i prefer Moon+ Reader with pdf plugin.
Quickoffice was the best solution for Symbian, ported to Android and the company finally bought by Google.

I tried this and it looks pretty good. The problem I'm having is it connects fine, but only when my tablet and computer are on the same network. Did you have to configure your firewall, and set your router for port forwarding? Do you also need to set up a static IP for this to work?

Thanks for the replies. So, which app is the best for annotating power point files?
hello people im new on this matter thus i need your help.
i need a cracked office apk with portuguese dictionary for creating mechanic manuals for schoool purpose.
can anyone help me?
i used to use ms office but now i cant anymore because cant find no crack.
hancom and 365 office wont let me use dictionary.
please help
Full compatibility with the real Office is near impossible. Surely even for the official Office365 apps, which require a subscription.
I have an old doc file with complex layout, and tried it on many office programs and apps over the years. While it always looks the same in MS Word, no matter which version, it looks different in other programs/apps. In OpenOffice the layout got better and closer to the real thing over the years, and in Office Suite pro it doesn't look bad, too.

Well if you're in one of the exalted countries that Microsoft actually allow to receive this, then play store.
Otherwise
Google search - for onenote.apk & office mobile.apk
Download and scan for virii
Install if it's clean.
The Office one, requires an active Office 365 account.
Both are pretty good.
If you are online when using documents, try Cloudon ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudon.client).
It takes time to open documents, but after that it's exact MS office experience.
I am currently using MS Office 365 that I installed via a TB backup archive from my phone. OneNote is very underwhelming on Android, no Spen support, and the entire suite is kind of half backed. Can't even open password protected Excel files.
There are better options out there for Android until MS gets their act together and improves their app.
