Wheres that one thread with the official email response to how to calibrate evo battery? Why isn't that thread stickied? I'm charging my phone right now and I forgot what to do..
If you mean the trick where you charge the phone to 100%, then turn it off, unplug, plug back in until green, unplug, plug back in till green, do that 5 more times, wave your hand over the phone while patting your belly, then unplug and plug in like 10 more times... well thats it
or if you mean battery stat calibration: charge to 100% boot into recovery, wipe battery stats, then reboot and do not plug in till your phone forces a shutdown
this is what your looking for...

1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more 2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour 3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour
yes also have to try thebatterystatewipe too
How often should you need to calibrate using this method?

I think patting my belly was what made my battery last longer

Honestly I wouldn't worry about doing any battery calibration. Battery calibration reminds me of breaking in a barrel on a new rifle. If you talk to 20 different people you will receive 20 different methods of doing the task. Generally if there isn't a single known method with proven results you can attribute the method to the placebo effect.
One thing I always wonder about these battery calibration methods is how the tests were performed. A lot of the time people will claim improved battery life but there is often another explanation for the increase in battery life, they rebooted the phone. If there was a process running amok it could very well have lowered their battery life and rebooting the phone simply killed the process thus improving battery life.
Personally I've never done anything special to calibrate the battery on any device I've owned and I've not have battery life problems. In fact when comparing the battery life of my devices vs. my friends who spent a lot of time calibrating we end up having almost identical time in which we can run on battery.
Just my two cents.
I don't really think it improves the battery so much as it makes it give you a proper reading. Mine can say the battery is down to 30% but it charges really fast. So I think it is an issue of reading the battery level properly.
doesn't charging like this deteriorate battery life? you keep pushing and pushing more volts into your battery. I think its better to do a full charge/discharge cycle a few times a week.
You only do it like this once and not every time. Also I have heard that with the lithium ion batteries you don't want to drain them completely or they may not charge up.

Not with lithium ion. IN fact with li-ion/li-poly batteries, discharging them completely can kill them instantly.

Exactly. It is all about being able to read the battery at 100 percent when it is actually at 100% that way the meter goes down properly percentage wise and you don't lose 20 percent in the first 10 minutes after you unplug the damn phone lol. But the said method does in fact fix this problem. You should after doing the method listed on my website, or mentioned in the email from htc, see less of a drop after removing the charger.

Hi there,
I just got my phone and I thought the quick charging should charge my phone fron 0-80 in about 35 minutes...
I turned off the phone and from 0-35% took around 32 minutes which does not sound right...
Is it because the phone was turned off?
Or something needed to be set? Its the factory default charger.
Thanks in advance

Did you literally just get it and plug it in, or did you run it all the way down to 0% and then plug it in?

Well, the first thing you'll probably hear around here is never let it discharge all the way to 0% because it's bad for the battery. I'm guessing that, if you did let it go all the way to 0%, it might take a little bit to get going again, so the charging time would indeed be longer.

If you Google something like, "lithium ion battery discharge 0%", you'll find all types of reasons why it's possibly harmful to your battery.
Nope.
Mine charges to about 40% in 30 Minutes. That's normal.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=66920323
Don't worry about that 0% nonesense.
Smartphones are Idiotproof. You can't do anything wrong to damage them with normal usage.
Yes of course it's Bad for battery life (long term) if you drain it to 0% every day but until 4% is completely fine.
Why is it Bad to drain a battery to low? Take a look at the battery Voltage Graph in my Charging Chart. Charging is even more Voltage than discharging. If you use and App to check battery Voltage you will see about 3.7V at 4% and it Drops to 3.6.... 3.5..... 3.4V the closer it gets to 0%
Batteries don't like that.
Feels like my nexus 6 charger charges faster than stock HTC 10 charger
Don't just tell us about your feels.
Install the batteryLog app and let it run for a charge, then Export to file and show the csv here.

OK, quick look.
A Li_ion battery has a life cycles 400 - 500, that means battery can go from 100% to 0% normally 400 - 500 times, after that, battery will start to get problems, e g, you see it's 100% battery but in 30 minutes normal usage it goes to 0%.
If you charge the battery to 100%, then recharge it only if it gets down to 0% every single day, then after one year it's very likely you'll face the battery issues.
Yeah.... so if you recharge your phone not when it's at 0% but at 50% you will have around 800-1000 cycles...
AND you charge your phone about twice as much as the other guy who only charges at 0% so in the end you both end up with the same battery capacity after a year xD
P.S 400-500 life cycles means until the battery has 75% of its original capacity left, and not untill it's totally unuseable

Hi, I picked up my phone from repair shop a week ago and since then when my battery goes below 55% i get message that battery is 0% and phone is shutting down, and then I put it on charger and sometimes it starts recharging from 1% but sometimes from 55% and if i charge it to 60% it works normally, but when i charge it to 100% it turns off on 55%, can someone help me please is it problem in software or maybe it is problem in battery?

It sounds very much like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...ttery-reporting-phone-dying-suddenly-t3095120
I replaced the battery and it's been working well for a few months now.
Battery drop from 50 % to 0 %
I had the same issue.
After force shut down (power + vol-up for 10 sec), the battery went back to normal.

EDIT :
That was a short lifesaver, battery is "fubar".
Guys , maybe there's something wrong with the battery charging in Amami . I have two Z1C, one of which normally charge up to 100 %. But the other charges the battery to 100% only in Stock 4.4.4 ... In all versions of Lollipop (stock or not) battery charges to 82% ... Calibration of the battery does not help. I replaced the battery - no change. I tried another powerful charger by Samsung - without effect. Anybody have an idea what's going on ?
Anyone having an issue with their phone only charging to 98%? It will only each 100% if I unplug it for a bit once it reaches 98% and then plug it back in.

not seeing that on mine.
It does this by design. It prevents battery damage and prolongs battery life (in terms of life expectancy and usability over years).

I've had the 98% issue since day 1. I've never seen 100%. It appears to be a very rare issue. Otherwise my battery performance is great!

that happened top me on my first charge
just give it a couple charges it will start going to 100
I have to say battery life is great for me on pixel 2 xl. every time i charge it will go all the way to 100 %.
Hmm, I've charged it overnight for awhile now and it still won't get to 100%. It'll say that it's fully charged but will just show 98%
Experienced the same thing on my Pixel 2 XL. I did manage to fix it by powering the phone off for 10mins with it plugged in/charging. Once rebooted it showed 100%. Otherwise it will stay at 98 or 99% forever...
Strange thing happened yesterday. It finally charged to 100% and 5 minutes later I unlock the phone and its back down to 99% while still plugged in to the OEM wall charger (showing charging rapidly).
Copy and paste from my post in the Real Life Review section:
I would leave my 2 XL charging overnight (stock charger and cable) and when I wake up around 7-8 hours later, the percentage would either be 97%, 98%, or 99%. I've rarely seen my phone go to 100% since getting it on the 18th.
Whenever the battery hits 50% and I go and charge it mid-day, it would take a painfully long time to charge up after around the 85% mark (the general consensus and expected). I would check and it would be at 99%. After around 10 minutes, I check again and it shows 98%.
Needless to say, I disabled "show battery percentage". If the battery icon is full, then it's 100% to me.
I have this with my 2 xl too. It'll stop at 98-99, and if I unplug/plug back in a few times or reboot a few times it'll eventually get to 100. But it'll drop from 100 only after a few minutes even unused. Not sure if by design or a minor hardware issue.
Mine was charging overnight to 100% now for the last 2 or 3 days it's only been going to 98% overnight. Battery life is still good though.
I was wondering of was something to do with Battery Stats, maybe needs cache cleared or resetting somehow.
Actually I cannot even get mine to charge to 100%

Actually I cannot get mine to charge to 100 percent except two charges ago. That being said there must be something wrong as using the white charger and cable to go from 2% - 98% it took more than 5 hours ! I cannot get it to go past 99 % and I have been charging with phone off then with on and then according to Google support tried safemode but still no difference. Highly frustrating for a $1k phone. I finally shut phone off for the last 20 minutes and then checked the charge and it is now at 100% but what a battle and a SLOW SLOW charging phone.
I never charge mine to 100%, I usually take it off the charger around 85%. Not had any battery problems, don't think it's ever necessary to hit 100%.
I've had the opposite. Wake up it's 100. Listen to music on the way to work for about an hour (bluetooth). When I get there it is still 100 percent. Put it in pocket for another hour, check phone, 96%.
I turned off my phone when plugging it in last night hoping to make this go away.
When I turned it back on this morning... still only 98%...

My phone has been having less hours of screen time recently, and shutdowns when the battery indicator is at 0%, (obviously), but the problem comes when I plug the charger and it says that the phone has 20-30% of battery. I wonder there is something to fix this, and make my phone shutdown when it is really at 0% of battery.
thx in advance

firstly you have to tell these (1)how old is your device?(2) using stock rom or custom?(3)how often you charge your device?

If you haven't done any rom upgrades then you might want to replace your battery.
