Okay, so I'm not new to flashing roms or anything on this tablet. Been doing it on this particular tablet for years now.
But I think I really screwed up this time. I had been running an older version of Resurrection Remix ( I think it might have been lollipop, around '16 is when I installed it) and the battery was draining really bad suddenly. So after I installed a new battery I thought I'd put on a fresh new OS. Installed Lineage 14.1 and it worked wonderfully.
Then I tried to install TWRP because, I dunno... I didn't like the Cyanogen recovery that was on it.
I installed Rashr, went to install TWRP. Things looked okay, then it reboot. Got stuck at the downloading screen. Said at the top "Could not boot in normal mode."
Installed Kies, wouldn't connect to the tablet.
Installed Odin. Made a connection with the tablet. Still couldn't get rid of the "normal mode" error. Kept messing around with different button combos, popped the tablet open and disconnected the battery. Waited for a minute, put it back in and nothing different.
Finally I managed to get it to not show the "normal mode" error, but it might as well because Odin still doesn't work.
I remember a few years back I had to do some stuff on it to get the newer android OSes working on it, I think it involved repartitioning memory and stuff. So I don't know if I can try to go full KitKat stock rom or if it'll really mess things up.
I just want my tablet working with a recent rom.
I've literally spent 5 hours with this damn thing trying to get it working again and I'm at a total loss, here. Any help from you wonderful XDA folks would be so greatly appreciated!
EDIT:
Okay, so I let the battery drain overnight (the screen wouldn't turn off so it drained pretty quick) and while it's still stuck in Odin mode now it says at the bottom in red Unknown dev_type.
Have no clue what that means but yeah...

For some reason my phone isn't booting up all the way to the rom/OS. It gets stuck on the boot animation and goes on forever and hasn't been able to boot up since yesterday, when my powered off at 20% battery, which is something normal for my phone. I was rooted and on android 4.3/MK4, but when I put it to charge and tried booting it back up, the phone would boot up, but would get stuck on the boot animation, going on forever. It wouldn't freeze it would just continue to play the animation. I tried removing the battery, factory wiping it, and installing a new rom, which I found out was for a different baseband. When i finished installing it it still wouldn't boot up all the way through.:crying: I then tried installing the previous rom, and still no good. After all that I installed a stock firmware using odin, hoping it would work. I installed the 4.4.2 NE2 firmware, which isn't for my phone but watching zedomax's video, he said to download the latest build date, which is what I did. Well, downloaded it and flashed it through Odin with a PASS and everything going good. Although, when it was rebooting-even after a factory and cache wipe-it still wouldn't boot up. I tried installing other firmwares aswell, but still no luck. I'm just waiting for it to finally boot up, so if anyone can help me out, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT, otherwise, anything is going to help at this point. Since I flashed the firmware, I now have a stock recovery and rom(I hope). I've been through these types of situations, but not to this point.. :crying:
It seems odds, but you may want to try a new battery. I recently went through a total disaster with my device and it ultimately was the battery. You may want to try booting with it connected to the a/c wall charger. It may give you an indication.
Have you tried the quick fix posted? My phone did the same thing when i had the stock recovery it showed error mounting efs folder. I noticed after installing clockwork that error didnt show up. It was still the same problem though. Wouldnt hurt to check it out. I got my note two from a friend who described the issue starting the same way you said happend to yours. The phone had never been rooted though. Good luck to you in trying to fix it.

So everything was working well no issues. The other night I am playing a game and everything seemed a bit wonky the touch screen was erratic and the graphics were stuttering so I figured I hadn't rebooted in a long time may as well. Well now the tablet just boot loops and won't come up. I tried doing a factory reset in recovery that hasn't helped. I hadn't gotten the time to try out the custom recovery so I have no backup is there any way to reload this thing from a computer or do I have a brick?
Little back ground I was rooted but no new software was installed in over 2 weeks prior and even upgrades had been at least a couple of days and then just Google stuff. No issues up till this point it was working very well. I was on Lollipop but would be happy to boot either KitKat or Lollipop at this point.
Little bit ticked off the tablet was only 6 months old never abused/dropped at all. I kept it in a sleeve when I wasn't using it and have a case as well. I don't install suspect programs at all. I use the tablet everyday for both work and personal use so I really need to get it going again if possible.
So I found this program called B2CAppSetup.exe in a post for the lg tablet 8.3 I installed it and put my tablet in download mode. It said that my tablet was up to date and that nothing needed to be done but there was an option to "update recovery" which downloaded a 1gb plus file so I assume it was the whole OS and not just the recovery. Took a while to do the reinstall but it did work, first boot took a few minutes but my tablet is running again. I will have to reset everything up again the way I had it but that is OK I had made a backup of my apps and data about 4 or 5 days before this happened so anything lost will be minimal. Hope this is helpful if this happens to someone else.

Well if I can just find out exactly what I need installed on the computer and how to enter the commands and where to enter them I'd be alright. Its been a long time since I use a computer and I'm stuck in a boot loop for no reason at all except for I rebooted and it is stuck. Can't go past fastboot or recovery or that screen with the big barcode. I did nothing that could affect the operating system and only had some very simple route adjustments made so I don't understand why it is so messed up. But hopefully someone can explain the computer part of this and I'll be straight

okay so i have a soft-bricked tab here, its the sm-t310.
it was received in a plastic bag, taken apart. so i put it back together and it wont turn on or charge; so i order a new battery and charge port. Viola! it turns on BUT it freezes on the Samsung screen. so i try to get to a recovery screen. Alas, it has team win custom recovery v2.6.0.0 and no OS installed. it also freezes on the charge screen. (ya know the battery icon and a frozen rotating semicircle on top of it) it also will not charge at all. not sure if its because of the recovery that's making it freeze or the motherboard or what? i cant install anything with a battery at 1%. i also have no sd cards to help an installation either.
I heard that this particular recovery version had a charging issue/bug as well?
Im fairly adept with computers, but this thing is proving to be a pain in my Butt! I've tried numerous methods from odin pushing a flash to it (that failed). i borrowed an sd card and tried manually updating it with the stock firmware 4.2.2 but it was a tar5 or some such thing and the recovery couldn't load it. i also tried a custom lite rom but it failed the flash because it was the wrong version, which btw it wasnt.
So... What Can i do to get it to charge? and what do i need to get this thing back to working order?
UPDATE! i got it working.
turns out whom ever owned it last installed the wrong twrp. so i reinstalled the newest version for my tab. then flashed the rom i had and Viola! it works great! turns out the battery IS charging just not showing it. trying to get GApps installed as i type! thanks xda people for all the files and posts that helped me along the way!
Okay, I don't know what the deal is but I've now screwed my second device lol
I have a T-Mobile H811 on 10H, my second to be exact, and after I follow instructions for low level root and flashing a recovery, everything works fine! For as long as I stay on that rooted stock image...
The moment I flash anything other than the rooted stock image my device looses sound, becomes extremely slow and unresponsive, with the SystemUI crashing constantly and restarting. Shows lock screen, doesn't respond to touch, and if it does it's only for a brief moment before it freezes and then shows "Optimizing Android", rinse, repeat.
This persists through returning to stock with a kdz. Once it begins, it doesn't stop, which is why I had to return my first device...... and it looks like I'll be returning this one as well :crying:
I am no stranger to the game, I was not on 10N, I made sure to use the right COM port (the diag one), I make sure to only flash things for the H811, so what in the world is happening to my device when I flash other roms? My first device I flashed BlissPop nightlies and thought that might have been the reason, this time I just flashed a modified stock image. I for the life of me cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong or how to undo the damage once it's been done.
I still have access to download mode and TWRP
I am desperate for help... I cannot seem to find anyone else who's had this issue. Missing those Nexus 5 days D:
Thanks in advanced
EDIT: I flashed back to stock and took the 10N update (it was like pulling teeth) and everything seems to be working again... but I'd really still like some insight as to what I did wrong lest I do it again.
And now I flashed Bliss and everything is working just fine... strange
I've looked all over for a definitive answer on this, and can't seem to find anyone with the exact problem I'm having. When I first got this phone it came with 4.4.2 jellybean. Eventually I was notified of a software update so I went ahead and installed it. To my horror, not only did it update to Android 5.0.1 (yuck!), it also installed McAfee. After this, my battery life became so bad I had no choice but to root the phone and flash a custom rom. However, when doing this I didn't realize that McAfee had a lock feature, so after getting TWRP, rooting, and installing my custom ROM (OctOS Android 5.1.1), I rebooted to a screen saying that the device was locked. After rebooting several times and wiping and reinstalling some things (I don't know exactly how this next part happened), I finally got the phone to boot and the 'locked by McAfee' screen no longer shows up... but now, the phone boot loops about half the time, and when it does boot it always goes through the "optimizing android" step, as if the phone has just been booted for the first time with a fresh rom. What can I do to fix this? I can only assume that McAfee is somehow involved here, but I'm not even sure at this point. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
