its just sitting on the freaking LG screen... every time i vol dwn + pwr and double press power it goes normal but then cwm doesn't come up and it just restarts and hangs at LG again. i ****ing hate this phone can someone please help me out? why won't cwm load
can you describe exactly the process you took to port CWM into your phone? Let's see if something happened along the way to cause it to not work properly.
Also, is CWM the one not working, or did you flash a ROM on your phone and something went wrong, and you are trying to get to CWM to restore your phone but not getting anywhere with it?

followed the steps on the cwm thread. used terminal emulator. worked great. was working fine until now. i flashed kernels beta 2 and only wiped cache and dalvik and now nothing is working. no cwm to restore, can't even get to the at&t boot animation. this is a mystery.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I can't help much at all since I haven't done either yet (CWM or Kernels/rom installations) so rather than making things worse for you, I'll leave it to the Pros here to help you. Im sure one of them will respond back soon enough.
Try this:
Disconnect the phone and pull out the battery.
Put battery back in and plug phone to a wall charger. Let it boot to the battery charging screen. Once there press and hold POWER + VOLDOWN
Depends on type of the problem, it helped me 9 out 10 times...
tried it at least 20 times now. just realized that i didn't format /system nor did i update cwm yesterday. probably the root of all these problems. I'm just gonna start fresh with the kdz. I'm on a mac though so its going to be a long night starting with boot camp.
I'm having the same problems...well kind of...
I followed all the instructions for CWM and everything went great. No real issues but had to reinstall the .img twice and then was perfect thereafter. Saw the beta 2 ROM and figured what the hey...downloaded and installed to SD Card. Used CWM/Nandroid to do a backup then installed the zip for the ROM from the sd card.
It took a matter of 10 seconds and said it was successful/done and restarted phone-got a boot loop on LG screen for about 15 minutes and finally did a battery pull-tried several times to get it into CWM with no luck and finally was able to get in-but had to plug it into the wall and wait for charging screen to show. Was able to restore and all was well until turning the phone off.
Turning off the phone now causes the phone to loop on the ATT screen-I can get into download mode and can get into CWM and restore and all is well until turning phone off.
I figured it just needs a fresh install so I've been trying to flash the kdz but the firmware updater keeps faulting and never makes it through the process...so I'm stuck...have all the files I need (I believe) and have everything in place...just can't get it back to normal.
Any ideas from here?
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, sometimes it could be quicker just start over and restore backups...
While you there, would you mind do this: Needed SystemUI.apk from SU640
[EDIT]
@fishscale28:
did you do kdz unbrick before? If not, then perhaps you are not doing it right...btw, kdz file for LU6200 didn't work for me.
Nope-never done a kdz unbrick before-I have the kdz v10i_00 for the 640. I have all the drivers installed, the parser deal installed, windows enabler program running and use the kdz updater to update the firmware. Is there something Im missing here? Seems like several people have gotten the updater to crash when trying to update the firmware...any ideas why?
---------- Post added at 05:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:38 AM ----------
I went through a few of the threads and saw there was a .dll file to be deleted in the updater folders so I did that and now I can do absolutely nothing with the program. Only start and exit...am unable to select anything, view anything, get anything to function...

I installed from the kdz yesterday and didn't have to delete any files. I'm on Win 7 x64. The first time it ran it told me to restart my phone cause it didn't see it, but the second time it ran until my phone reboot and I killed the program. Be sure you have the KDZ_FW_UPD_EN with UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe in it. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your help. I did all that...again...I even deleted, reinstalled all the updater stuff, tried running as admin, tried running in compatibility mode, ran it after deleting the recommended .dll file and the option to do anything was gone, put it back in and was able to run everything fine and a little after extracting the kdz it would crash. I unplugged the phone and re-ran the proggy and it went through the check, noticed the phone wasn't hooked up and finished the check. Plug phone in, start process over and proggy crashes.
I don't get it-I would say its the wrong kdz but its not. I installed all the drivers and it still doesn't work. I've tried every combo of everything and the proggies keep crashing.
Now I was finally able to get into CWM to flash another ROM and was able to get one going-was able to boot into the os but same as before-once the phone is turned off it starts the boot loop. Now its even harder to get back to CWM but a restore works from there. Any ideas on why the boot image keeps reverting back to whatever was screwed up? Has to be something that happens once the system starts up again as it's after a restore and when the phone is turned off. Stumped and would love to be able to use my phone...It seems like flashing the kdz would be the sure fire way to get it done-are there options aside from the updaters that keep crashing?
Thanks in advance!
Maybe http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ can help?
alright so i got to the 4% thing and my phone rebooted but it kept looping to the screen LG Optimus LTE bootscreen with the pink candy cane. thats it. i did vol dwn + pwr and got the android arrow and box with loading bar no text, then it rebooted back to the optimus lte screen. never got to the setup screen. tried the kdz again and my phone died. now when i plug it in i only get download mode... does it charge in download mode and why did it not get to the setup screen?!

Even after running the kdz, my phone still does that after installing CWM. I don't know if it's something with my ROM or something with CWM, but if you can't get into CWM you probably don't need to run the kdz. I couldn't get into CWM anymore when I ran it.
So you're saying you go into the boot loop after turning off your phone even after unbricking?
I don't get it-now I can't get into recovery and it keeps up with the boot loop. I've tried running on the virtual PC/XP deal and it doesn't crash but now it doesn't even see the phone...reinstalled all the drivers, etc. and still no luck. Is there anyway to get the kdz installed without this updater?

Yes. I don't think that was happening until I put CWM on. But I can live with it until the issue is solved. I don't think I'm the only one having it.
Hi.
I have a problem with my D855. My phone is rooted and runs the fulmics ROM. Everything was working fine, , on Fulmics 5.3, except than one day, I was using my phone normally and then it crashed. I saw the phone rebooting, but for some reason it got stuck. The phone tried to boot unsuccessfully until the "firmware update" went through, after what it reboots again (unsuccessfully) and so on.
At that time, I was able to access twrp, do some backup, and flash properly with a downgraded version of fulmics (from 5.3 to 4.1).
It was able to boot again and use my phone like before. Yet, after one month of usage, the same problem happened on version 4.1. The phone crashed and now cannot boot.
Any idea of where it is coming from? Should I go back to stock? Should I contact customer service?
What did you do before the phone crashes ?
I think you probably should flash the stock ROM and wait for an other crash... or not.

I haven't done anything special. I think that the first time I was playing on candy crush. The second time I was just looking at pictures in my gallery.
I was using the ROM without any tweaks or extra modules such as Xposed. Just regular use.
Update on my situation: I switched back to stock ROM and it seems to work OK for now (it has been 4 days). So I will wait and see if new problems happen. By the way, it was extremely difficult for me to get back to Stock directly from fulmics ROM. I tried several methods that I have found on xda based on LGUP or LG Flash tool without success. For some reason I was not able to connect the phone to my PC in download mode.
The only way that I found was to use a nandroid backup that I did just after rooting the phone and that was based on stock ROM.

You can also use the Stock rom flashable from twrp. So you can wipe the system partition and get a "better situation" than a nandroid backup that should be with an old version.
Or use this that has also root and other improvements.

Same problem here. Normal usage suddenly started to reboot and now it's stuck in boot loop
Coming from Fulmics too - stopped working one fine day.
Now, continues to boot-loop at the initial LG screen. Trying to get into the recovery shows me the the 'Factory Reset' screen, but beyond that leads to boot-loops again. Even the Download mode loops!
I'm at my wits end without a solution in sight.

Thank you for this advice. I was able to update my stock ROM after the Nandroid backup through LGUP, but your method would have been faster.
But anyway, I am waiting to see if I am stuck with bootloops again, using non-root stock version, so I can send it to customer service if this happen again.

Are you using Fulmics ROM as well? Can you have access to TWRP? I was able to connect to a PC in the recovery mode and to transfer files before flashing, in case you need some basic backup...

Silly question, but are you sure that you selected "Yes" when the screen asks you about factory reset? you have to press "volume down" and the "power button", since the default answer is no.

Yes, of course I was able to access TWRP successfully earlier.
Curiously enough, the phone boot-loops in regular startup, Download mode and trying to get to recovery. However, it doesn't restart itself and fall into a loop, while on the Factory Reset menu. Am I correct in assuming that the battery could not be the root cause of the overall problem? Because if it was, it would likely loop even on this Factory Reset menu as well as far as I understand.
Unfortunately, the phone restarts as soon as it lands in the Download mode so I cannot even restore to stock.
EDIT: Okay, weirdly enough it just booted and reached the homescreen before restarting again. What I did was let it charge to a 100% and tried booting while plugged in. Could it be the battery after all? Though this exact set of steps hasn't been helpful before.
Okay, So let me start from the beginning so I'm certain I'm being descriptive enough.
The other night my G3's wifi stopped working. When I went to turn it on in settings it would turn itself back off. Which I thought was strange. So, I assumed it was a software issue so I backed up any important items and factory reset my phone last night. That went over fine. Wifi worked again, all was good. Until, it said it needed an Android Software Update. I hit "update" and allowed it to do its thing. About halfway through the update the phone said "error." With an icon of the Android bot with a hazard triangle sticking out from it. I let it be for a bit and nothing happened. So in my impatience I took the battery out and put it back in and tried to restart the phone. This is where the issue occurs. The phone keeps booting to recovery mode. I'm not savvy at all with Android so I don't know if these mean anything but it says "Android System Recovery <3e> LRX21Y" The phone has had zero modifications done to it. I would really appreciate any help or any tutorials that could save the phone until my g6 preorder comes in.
Thanks!
Kyle
Your phone failed the update for some weird reasons and is now stuck. I'm afraid you'll need to restore stock Android using LG Flash tools and KDZ files to your device. It will get your phone working, but you'll lose your data in the process.
You can try mounting the phone from recovery or download mode and see if you can access your data and backup the data. You can also try the recovery option without downloading wnloaing a KDZ first.
You can fins tutorials around the forum, in the general section usually.
So while i was browsing around with Firefox on my 1 year old Nexus 5X, it suddenly froze and after about 20 secs automatically reboots.
After it shows the google boot logo for about 10 seconds it reboots again in a loop.
Bootloader is unlocked, its rooted and Cyanogenmod is installed. This worked fine for about 1 year. I havent done any updates since this CM install 1 year ago.
I can get into fastboot by pressing power and volume down. I can stay there forever but if I choose anything else from there, it goes into the reboot cycle again.
So I can not get into recovery mode from fastboot because it reboots before it gets there.
I can sometimes get into download mode by pressing power and volume up but after a few seconds it again reboots from there.
Is there any way to at least save my data? I do have some very important account data on it.
I assume from fastboot mode alone you cant save anything or is there a trick?
Thanks for any help!
sounds very similar to my situation, bought mine about a year ago as well, except I was running stock 7.1.2
It should be easy to save the phone, but for the data - that's going to be trickier.
As long as you have fastboot you can always just flash it back to stock but that will wipe your data.
So you could try to to:
fastboot erase cache and fastboot erase recovery and then reflash recovery and see if you can get into it now.
Once in recovery you should have adb access if you have the correct drivers installed and you can flash a full OTA image in ADB which will reflash every partition, but not wipe your data.
For both methods read this: https://developers.google.com/android/images
Once you have adb you could also just pull the entire content of your data partition. The question is if and how that account data is stored and if you could get it back that way.
If you really need that app data I would try to get the OS working by flashing the OTA image in adb, then reinstall the app and hope your account data is still there...
And then look into backup options. It's pretty risky to have important data not backed up or duplicated somewhere else on a mobile device that could be lost or stolen any second...
It sounds like the bootloop problem, its a problem that many people are facing

I dont know about the OP, but my 5X will not get into fastboot, no matter what option I pick, I see the Google screen then it goes black and back to the Google screen and then is unresponsive for hours
I'm having the same issue as of this morning. I find it a little suspicious that it happened on the same day that my billing restarted and they had just updated the app a few days ago...
But I am unable to get to recovery mode either. Just shows the Google logo and reboots.
It's happening to me right now, the exact same thing, guys, this is not a coincidence
Another one here, started Friday night 3 days ago. Really weird that all of a sudden so many 5X users are experiencing the same problem.
mine just started this today, but after about ten reboots it finally started. Its almost like someone took control of the phone to install something remotely... weird
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I'm having the exact same issue. Was watching a youtube video and suddenly the screen froze and my phone rebooted. When i tried to get into the recovery i still only got the google logo and a reboot. Fortunately i have my bootloader unlocked. I was able to reflash android and it worked again. After an hour or two the same started to happen again. Extremely frustrating.
Best thing you can do is flash just the recovery and try to get your files out that way.
so even until now many Nexus 5x still got bootloop? nothing to fix it still?
planning to get an used Nexus 5x and afraid also got this bootloop problem, should I or shoudn't I get it?
after reading so much bootloop stories, seems the timing to bootloop is just matter of time? on how much the phone is used? heavy use got bootloop first and lighter use got bootloop last but still get it sooner or later?
I will not buy it

Two days ago I was facing the same problem, I managed to reload the stock rom and relock the bootloader so I can claim the warranty. But even though they replace me the phone I am pretty sure that sooner or later you will face this problem. This is an amazing phone and for the time I buy it, I believe was a smart choice, now I believe you can find something at same range price with even better specs.
I am facing the exact same issue. I was watching a Youtube video when the phone suddenly froze and shutdown itself. Then impossible to boot again. Sometimes I can boot to fastboot (after few hours without touching the phone or 20 min in the freezer). I tried to flash factory images (https://developers.google.com/android/images) but it does not fix it.
Has anyone been able to fix this? I don't think it's a hardware issue as I replaced the screen (the last one had a small crack on it) as well as the battery...
Look in the general subfourm for BLOD. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3683926

Hi guys, bit of a saga here so bear with me...and also it should be mentioned I have little experience/understanding of tech stuff, so that isn't helpful either lol
I've had a Nexus 5x running 7.1.2 for not quite a week; it came with an unlocked bootloader (strangely). Tried to do the usual install twrp & root as I've done with previous phones (all pre-nougat) but all attempts failed. Couldn't boot into stock recovery from the bootloader at all, it would just boot into the system. OK, next thought was that an OTA upgrade to Oreo might work to restore a recovery - but got the BLOD (naturally lol). I found a fix in a modded 4-core Twrp 3.2.1 -0 fbe img + workaround injector zip from osm0sis & XCnathan32 which by some miracle worked.
So far, so good. Ffwd a few days and google play store keeps crashing on opening; I had the feeling that some glitch happened while it was updating, so I tried all the usual fixes like app cache/data wipes and uninstall updates/renistall google play, delete google account etc which failed. Next I tried a cache & data device wipe through twrp - also unsuccessful. Finally, I thought the only thing left to try would be to restore a backup I made on twrp - this led to the current issue of not booting, stuck on the google logo screen. I even thought what the hell! and attempted a factory reset with twrp - same result, where I am now. Google logo screen, however I still have an unlocked bootloader.
Would anyone be able to suggest where I might go from here? I'm pretty sure the version is N2G48C, if that helps.
Any suggestions very much appreciated...wouldn't mind getting to the 1 week mark with a functioning phone lol
Saga #2
Still no idea what's going on. I realised that I'd backed up and recovered the system and vendor .img files, which according to this thread would be a cause of the issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/stuck-google-logo-twrp-backup-restore-t3320840/page3
So I made another backup without those images, did a full wipe and restored it - still does not boot, still only sitting on the google logo. Tried next to open a cmd terminal to see if I could reflash a stock image, but adb could not connect (maybe because the phone would have been on charging and not file transfer mode?)
Last resort as I saw it was to try the NRT, and see if it would flash stock via the bootloop/softbrick option. Process seemed to be OK, judging by the log - but it did not reboot to the system. Now there is a looping bootloop between the google logo and the unlocked bootloader warning.
Following wugfresh's instructions to factory reset from the recovery (the phone won't turn off via the power button so I just booted straight into the bootloader) Looked for the recovery option, selected....and nothing!!
So there isn't a stock recovery??? How does that work?
And what hope is there for this phone now? (I can't think of anything else )
Anyone have an idea? I've never heard of this before tbh!
Well, my problem has been sorted. In the absence of knowing what the hell I should do lol I managed to get a refund for the phone even though it was a refurb to begin with (something to be said for an honest seller who provides a 3 month warranty!) and I picked up a brand new N5x, which was unboxed on Tuesday. Not even 6 hours into setting it up, the phone started to get progressively hotter and then went into bootloop. Got into the bootloader and tried a factory reset - all seemed OK but halfway through the setup process it bootlooped again. Fortunately it was still within the 2 year warranty, and LG didn't argue about authorising a repair for a phone which didn't get even half a day's use on it lol
Authorised Wednesday, walked into the service centre Thursday and a 1 hour wait later had phone in hand with the PCB/motherboard replaced. Has been working fine (and cool!) ever since. Definitely feel lucky to have hopefully dodged a bullet on this one.
Bonus that they upgraded from 6.0 to 7.2.1 while they were at it; apparently LG considers nougat the "latest" stable version for the 5x.
