Got a weird problem. GPRS only seems to work upstream - not downstream. I can send MMS but not receive. I cannot download any web pages. checked SIM card in another XDA and GPRS works fine so it must be the phone, not the Mobile account.
Upgraded system ROM and Radio to latest:-
ROM : 1.40.00WWE
Radio : 1.12.00
Ext ROM : 1.31.920 WWE
Tried taking out all the add-on applications from extended ROM in case of conflict - but no luck.
Can't find any way to get GPRS download to work. System is logging on as it can pick up an IP address. Just that no data flows down to the device.
Any suggestions?
MMS has different settings to http. Go to you connections manager and copy the details from the other xda which you tested it on
Thanks - but tried that. Copies all settings exactly but still no luck. Loaded IP Dashboard so I can check network settings. Looks like I am getting an IP address from the network - I can ping the default gateway, but no data ever seems to make it through to the browser. That is what made me think it might be an application conflict - hence removing everything from the extended rom - but still no luck. All very strange.

I can connected to the GPRS network but downloading of a page even a mobile site take forever.even download o2 connect also forever.
I have tried my sim card to a mini and all OK no problem but the it only happend on my 2s.
But if I use the CSD connection it seems OK. WHY?
Any workaround, need some expert help here. ???????
Thanks.
Hi all,
having troubles with my Wifi. It needs a minute to connect and doesn't connect when screen is off eventhough settings are to always on.
I started asking in CM7 nightly thread about my problem but it's better to have a new thread for that.
So far I didn't find a solution.
I tried:
- replace tiwlan_drv.ko with new one by deleting old one
- compared wpa_supplicant, tiwlan.ini and other data in that folder without significant outcome
- tried old 2011.11.16-nightly where it still worked
Anyone got an idea what I have to copy from my old nightly where it still worked?
This is what happened:

sorry, for bringing this up again, since I'm the only one having this issue but I just collected a few logs. maybe someone has a clue what is going on there:
Code:
2012-02-13-19-35-37_wifion.txt > when turning wifi on it needs more than a minute to connect
2012-02-13-19-37-37_wifiscan.txt > wifi instantly connects after starting 'wifi analyzer' app or open the wifi settings window
2012-02-13-19-45-25_wifiscreenoff.txt > when screen is of, wifi doesn't connect eventhough settings are to "always on"
/edit: ok i just tried to read the logs myself and I think you can't really see any reason for that behaviour... am i right that the possible settings I have to look for are in the 'tiwlan.ini'?
Maybe someone provide me a backup of his/her tiwlan.ini for comparison... (I don't have any idea what I'm doing but that doesn't mean I couldn't try. )
I added my tiwlan.ini as well
/edit: compared to tiwlan.ini: no differences. Must be something else.

Could you please check your logs if it needs exactly a minute to connect? could be a proof that there is some setting involved.

I just went back to an older version: 2011-11-16 and the problem was gone.
Thank you.
/edit: Ok might have bin the wrong folder... did it have to be /data/misc/wifi/? Argh it's hard when one knows nothing. :|
/edit2: I'm so sorry: I compared wrong files and folders (system and data). I come back here, when I really found something. *shame on me*

I'd just copy the module tiwlan_drv.ko [in /system/lib/module] from that older nightly and replace it on the newer build first.
Don't forget to set its permissions afterwards..
You can do this with RootExplorer or with Terminal (from the app tray) by entering these 5 lines:
Code:
su
cd /system/lib/module
mount -o remount,rw /system/
chmod 644 tiwlan_drv.ko
chown 0.0 tiwlan_drv.ko
and reboot.

Nobody else?
Would be great if some devs could please look this up.
SOLUTION
Hello all,
first off: delete wpa_supplicant and everything is fine!
I gave up and did a factory reset/wipe data. After that it worked w/o problems.
> Now I will restore all my apps and check if it's still working afterwards. > still working
> restore wifi access points > NOT WORKING ANYMORE!
> with shame I delete wpa_supplicant > WORKS AGAIN!
I'm so ashamed. :/ Should have done that like months ago.
I go back to my backup and try it there. > deleting the wpa_supplicant worked!!!!
My Wifi has a problem with WRT54G Wireless Router, with Froyo Stock ROM and CM7.1 RC1.5-jordan.
WIFI connect, signal is good but connection is very slow.
On notebooks, the connection is faster with this same router.
In another Wireless routers connection is normal from Defy. The problem is only between Defy x Linksys WRT54G.
I have set Defy and Router to work only in G mode, but the problem persist.
With the same configurations the problem don´t occour with another routers from D-link, Cisco or other.
Anyone know how can I solve it?
Tnks.
I was able to install CM11. Flashed cm11 on 12/7 and everything has been working great. I was able to update everything. On next morning, wifi signal was there but no access to internet. Wifi is on but it picks up no wifi signals. If I turn on/ off wifi doesn't find anything else. And receive WPS has failed error... if I click in refresh.
I have already daily upgrade nightly builds to up to date build (20131217), but success. same issue. Any idea?
If I do a full wipe and then restore a backup it work for a day, then stops again.
I have the same problem. I dropped the phone on the wooden floor, and thought the wifi just broke, but now I'm confident it's because of bugs in cm11
Considering returning to cm10.3

Installed BeanStalk with no data/cache wipe and WiFi is still not working.

Hi to all
I had this problem and i could fix it.
afret install CM 11, go to this address : settings/wi-fi/advanced/wi-fi region code

I just upgraded to cm 11 build .17 and Wifi just doesnt turn on.
It says turning on... and just hangs.
I've set region to Europe to no avail..
I found a solution. Download SQlite debugger from Play Store. Open the app, then open Setting Storage, then setttings.db, then Global, then scroll down to wifi_display_on and edit the value, change it to 0. Reboot and then you should have wifi working again.

Thanks, that worked great. but the setting reverted back to "1" on its own , i changed it back to "0" working again but any idea how to keep it from reverting back?
The value only reverted the one time, hasn't been an issue again.

This totally worked for me. But it stops, and the problem is back again. Checking the settings.db shows it has returned to 0. (wtf!)
Not sure what to do at this point. It's nice to know it's not hardware.
thanks!
i had the same problem. this guide solved my problem. thanks.
Fixed my network problem by removing ad-hoc network
Hey,
I had a problem when I tried to connect to an ad-hoc network I'd setup. The network settings screen would freeze up on me and then..... nothing. I checked the database settings by adb'ing onto my phone (a rooted oppo find 5 by the way). I checked the values of the settings database as described by others. That didn't work so then went to the file containing connection details of known wifi networks
Code:
sudo ./adb shell
[email protected]:/ $ su
1|[email protected]:/ # cd /data/misc/
[email protected]:/data/misc/wifi # ll
First I start a shell on my phone (sudo ./adb shell), then I change from a regular user into the superuser (su) then I go to the directory containing the wifi connection info.
There I opened the file wpa_supplicant.conf and removed the ad-hoc connection that caused my problems. I've also read about people simply removing the file. Downside of that is that you will loose your painstakingly acquired history of known passwords (but I guess in the end that is still better then not having a wifi connection at all....)
Hope this helps somebody
Cheers!

May I ask for a absolute path of "settngs.db" file, please? By the way, have you fixed the issue with reverting?
Thank you.

Hi guys,
Just wanted to tell you that setting wifi_display_on to 0 didn't work for me. Full reset did the trick on my GS4 GT-i9505

Thanks so much dude! I was so close to resetting my phone and this worked perfectly! To those of you who got lost on this I'll try to describe it better... Download SQlite debugger from Play Store or on your PC then transfer the apk to your phone and install Open the app, then press 'App' and scroll down to 'Setting Storage', then 'setttings.db', then 'global', then 'name', now scroll down to 'wifi_display_on' and edit the value to 0, make sure you commit this change by pressing the arrow icon in the top right and accepting. Now reboot and turn on your WIFI!

I've been working on a fix since a long time now. If you are in SD community then you prolly know me. Anyway I was able to fix this on two of my phones and it's now working fine. I tested for 12 hours now. I'll also tell you in the end what problems I'm seeing. I'm also working on a fix for that.
I noticed that a service is started when the fallback happens but if I kill that service the network also dies. But if you follow the below method it safely starts a new service which kills the one that's responsible for killing the 4G/LTE
1. Upgrade your phone to 13B firmware
2. Root 13B
3. Now download Shortcut Master lite app from play store.
4. Now add these shortcuts to your favorites in the "Shortcut Master lite app". You can search for "LTE" and click on search button
LTEBandSelection
LTETestMain
LTE System Selection
CDMAPreference
5. Now click on "LTEBandSelection" and enable all the bands
6. Save and reboot
7. You now need to enable your data and turn off your wifi. Make sure your phone is in Global mode (in settings >> Mobile networks >> System select)
8. After your phone is rebooted open "Shortcut Master lite" app.
9. Now tap on LTETestMain
10. Select Click on CDMA preference.
Now choose Band preference and select "any"
P_REV_Preference ---> "MOB_P_REV 3
This is important.. EVDO Revision --> Rev A
11. "LTE Connect w/o IMS PDN" must be checked
12. Now go back to your main menu in shortcut master lit app
13. This step is very important. Changing the timeout is important. Tap on LTE System Selection
Except "Scan duration" add a couple zeros to all the other timers. For eg: T_mpsr timer (Min) is 200
The fallback timer will reset itself after reboot. But don't worry the configuration is already updated with the new value. For some reasons the shortcut master lite app is not picking it up.
14. Now finally click on "CDMA preference" in the main menu and make sure it has the value you set in Step 10
At step 10 or 13 your network should go away and your phone should complain about "no network". That's fine. just ignore the message.
Now finally reboot your phone. That's it. You should now have 4G LTE and it won't fallback to 3G or H+
The only problem is when I'm on a call my 4G LTE is dropped to 3G/H+. But after I hang up it goes back to 4G LTE after 12 seconds. I don't know if it's an expected behavior. But I'm trying to see if there is a fix for that.
I tested this with Tmobile. Make sure your APN settings are correct.
Thanks @motorhead_biker., you rock!!!
I am on rooted 11a, flashing stock back and then will go to 13b to try this out. Was waiting for this.....
Isn't this thread a duplicate of http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/guide-fix-vs986-dropping-to-3g-h-4g-lte-t3272434? Can they be consolidated?
Thread closed as there is already a copy in General and that is where it belongs.

Hi everyone,
I am stuck on a problem for some time now and still haven't figure out how to resolve it.
I would like to prevent my phone to automatically connect to a EAP-SIM Wifi network. I have enough data and there is a good network where I live. When I walk it switches to the wifi network near me and this is actually worse than the data network.
When I try to look the internet for this, all I found is people trying to enable this feature but nothing on how to unable it (or prevent it to connect to this specific network [FreeWifi_secure, a French mobile network provider]).
What I tried :
Remove ("Forget') the network => It reappear and reconnect every time
Disable my wifi when I'm outside => work, but then, I forgot to activate it back once home. Not the solution I'm looking for
Modify wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/) and add "disable=1" to the network => the file is always rewritten by the system
Modify wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/) with update_config=0 => Does not work, the file is always rewritten by the system
Modify wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/) by commenting "#update_config=1" => Does not work, the file is always rewritten by the system
Change owner of wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/) from "wifi.wifi" to "system.wifi" => Switched back to "wifi.wifi"
Remove the network from the wpa_supplicant.conf file => Comes back and connect to the wifi
My phone is a rooted Honor 5X (KIW-L21) with the stock rom (build KIW-L21C432B350). It is an Android 6.0.1.
Thank you for your help !
