My friend just bought a Redmi Note 5 Pro and it has a weird problem.
When viewing an instagram or Whatsapp story,it automatically gets cut in both sides vertically.
Maybe it's because of the 18:9 ratio but I haven't found anyone else with the same phone having same problem.
The device has the latest 9.2.7.0 MIUI version.
What's the cure here?

Yes it's because of the 18:9 display. I have the same problem too...
Too bad the Instagram developers are lazy and mark their app as optimized, yet aren't at all!
It's the same problem for even flagship-level phones with non 16:9 displays (such as S9, G6, etc)
The only way to solve it is to pray to God that these devs realized their mistake and fixed the matter.
Though I insist you (or your friend) opting for Instagram Beta, as it should receive new features and fixes faster.

Well that's surprising. I thought since mainstream phones like S8,s9,pixel now use 18:9 ratio, instagram must've added support for it like they did for Iphone X within months of its release.
I also wonder if there are any unofficial workaround for it :/
Go into settings--->fullscreen display (I'm translating from polish so it may a bit different) and find Instagram and force it to work with 18:9 ratio. I had similar issue with Worms 4. After forcing it from that menu to work in 18:9 everything is alright

Which MIUI version are you on?
I can't find the Fullscreen Display option on the note 5 pro.

Yes it is greyed out for me too.
So I am in the process to unlock bootloader and flash the updated 9.5.6.0 version or the latest xiaomi.eu version.
That will most probably let me change Instagram toggle.

Too bad, I'm already on 9.5.6.0 since I booted this device and the toggle is still greyed out
It's probably better to opt for custom rom at this point, MIUI won't cut it, probably...

It's greyed out as well, but is like enabled by default and not changenable. I don't use Instagram. All I did was to install it and go into the settings to check which position the toggle is

Yes, with xposed module... P animations
Xda has an app called navigation gestures on the Google play store I believe. It mimics the gestures perfectly but it cost about 2usd.

Just about a month and a P GSIs going avaliable. Than you can flash P or maybe it has a chance to port the framework.

There’s no differences even now with latest developer beta of P,so it’s the same thing will get imo.
On the other hand OnePlus both of screen and on screen gestures and gestures navigation has done magnificent job.
The only difference between iPhone X and OnePlus is that with OnePlus with recent app gestures from the center bottom of device to get rid of app is by swipe left or right but on iPhone X is by swipe up.
But the basic idea remains the same both of them.
Android P is totally different and half baked.
Btw if you want iPhone X style with swipe up gesture from bottom at recent app to get rid off it, you can get Vivo Nex or Oppo Find X that has the same as Apple.
To me both implementation iPhone X and OnePlus are superior to stupid Google Android P gesture navigation.

These reviews are from the first and second beta. They fixed a lot of thing about that. The recent switcher is far the best implementation ever. I really like this and I hope OnePlus will implement the standard version not which is presented at the P beta for the 6. The assistant shortcut really missing from that version..

I really like current implementation and not Google one.
The only welcome change would have been the same as IPhone X as alternative that already Vivo and Oppo implemented with their new flagship.
Having a touch button at the center bottom is totally frustrating also back button presents too.
I’m not taking full advantage of full screen as I’m having an empty navigation bar what’s the point of having touch button navigation bar area on gestures navigation system.
Gesture navigation meaning no any kind button to be pressed within screen.
Also not everyone using Google assistant to me is totally useless so why should I have that touch button over there.

I've been using Swipe Navigation from playstore for a few months now and really like it. Think it costs 1.49 but there's tons of customization options.
Only drawback is upon reboot it takes like a minute before the app starts up. Not a huge hardship though.

For device not supporting gestures navigation out of the box is good idea but prefer native support from OEM just like OnePlus is doing.

Normally I'd fully agree but having used both stock and Swipe app, I can objectively say there's no perceptible difference in execution of the gestures nor are there glitches. Plus you get the bonus of adding more (for me it's a kill app gesture--swipe up & hold on right).

For me, assistant and quick recent switch is a must. And neither of these are implemented in the OnePlus version. That's why the Google's version is superior, for me.

Well go for Google Pixel devices instead of OnePlus or just flash AOSP rom.
Most of current users prefer Oxygen OS because take advantage over different features and more customization options that stock android or what Google offers with Pixel.

Well how do you know that? Is there any survey about that? No. So that you prefer this mean a bigger of a community prefer.
And yeah I'm on AOSP right now couse it's a superior of Oxygen OS. More customization? You have to try an AOSP ROM.

Guys be aware that people on reddit have reported this updated changed the back gesture range to full length on the sides, meaning they work as back gesture even at the top of the screen, very annoying to people who want to preserve the top 1/3 for app menus
Yep, the navigation gesture goes all the way up as others have mentioned. However, I noticed that lawnchair now works properly with gesture navigation so it's a worthy trade-off for now imo until they fix it.
Everything feels very snappy.
And what about OP gestures? Still nowhere to be found?

For me when I would go to long press swipe up gesture for recents, it would also flip the app drawer up. It didn't really integrate with the home launcher like it did with the OOS launcher. I tried multiple versions, beta, non beta etc.
If I remember correctly there was issues on pixel with third party launchers on gestures when they first came out as well.

I updated with oxygen updater and I got the full global version, even downloaded the ota

fails to mention the up in pro mode iso to 3200 in the cam and 30 sec shutter vs 10 on android 9
Nice to know the camera got those cam speed and iso aditions, I am curious about the starage handling, as I previously read an article here in XDA that files created by any app would be available only for such app, the author saw this as a negative feature, I would like to see how that impacts overall file usage in real life now that android 10 is officially rolling out

External touchpads support is broken (both usb and bluetooth) - they don't work/gets recognized as mouse HID as it was on Android 9, currently more like some kind of touch input. Therefore mouse cursor acts strangely when using touchpads - it is way quicker in one plane (e.g. horizontal) than the other (e.g. vertical) which makes it usless.
The update does cripple support for Good Lock which is a huge drawback. You can no longer customize how many rows or columns appear in the quick settings. Many Pie themes are no longer working in 10. On the positive side, battery life has much improved with about 20% more battery at the end of the day. Certain apps such as Instagram will now switch to dark mode if you have it enabled systemwide. For those eagerly waiting, I'd say you're not missing out on much.

Every new version of Android on samsung starts without full support of every goodlock app. It will be the same thing for Android 11. They will update then eventually
One thing for me that kills the A10 update is being unable to Turn Off "Restrict Backgroud Data" on Power Saving Mode
I like to throttle the phone to stop losing battery as quick - Reduce Processor to 70% / AOD Off etc...
With the latest update they have removed the option to do this however when you activate it - It says be default that it is going to be switched on :/
Anybody faced the issue of KLWP not fully working after the update? I can set the wallpaper but the "click to launch app" does not work.

Thanks for this, I examined it.... My favorite was not described either, it is the "Smart Pop-Up View" - bubblehead type notifications for ANY APPS on your phone which when selected brings up said app in a tiny separate window!

That didn't come with Android 10 though. It's been there. Maybe it came to other devices on 10 but Samsung already had that feature.

HOLY Crap! You are absolutely correct! OMFG! Wish I had found that long ago!
I hate it when programmers change things just so it looks new and improved.
Zero-dark-thirty is NOT the time I want to discover that the snooze button on the alarm clock app has been "upgraded" and moved. Groggy/grumpy/sleepy self turned the alarm off this morning instead of just snoozing it.

Here's how to apply fully working (on Aod, lock screen and home screen) new Miui 12 Earth and Mars live wallpapers:
1. Download both apk's from this Gdrive folder and install them (there's a preview video too)

I don't know if the really work on AOD on MIUI 12, but they can al be made working on both locked and home screen on MIUI 11 by:
- in MIUI Themes app, enable any 'standard' live wallpaper
- install these apk's
- install this app:

- from that app setup the super wallpaper

Honestly, your OP is not fully clear.
Do you claim that those two you uploaded work on AOD also on MIUI 11 - they don't for me (on MIUI 11, ALL six work the same way, on lock and home screen only for QFJEUXM 11.0.5 for me)
But if you are talking only about MIUI 12 and you don't want your thread to be polluted with MIUI 11 (and how to use them for lock and home screen there), then really, really, really, really, really sorry for my posts here

You're right about Miui, I didn't know is it going to work on AOD on Miui 11 or not...but the rest is the same, like every version on internet, they work on the home and lock screen and the setup is the same.

Sadly it's only the dark Mars Version when unlocked and Dark Mode is on.
Would love to have the wallpaper bright all the time.
Is it possible to add the bright Version too?

Here's how to apply fully working (on Aod, lock screen and home screen) new Miui 12 Earth and Mars live wallpapers:
1. Download both apk's from this Gdrive folder and install them (there's a preview video too)

2. Go to settings/wallpapers and apply any dynamic wallpaper from there on both (home and lock) screens

hey, anyone knows where to get the dynamic nebular wallpaper (not the screenshot) - i saw at miui12 review video this is a dynamic "live" wallpaper... cause i'm new i can't post the link to the yt video - try it this way "/iQsUx34aGjc?t=155" - maybe i can't set it cause my location is germany?
Works perfectly on MIUI 12 20.5.14 and Nova Launcher, hope we can have soon all the super WP
I found on xiaomi.eu a link a user over there made it through flashable zip i tried it on my device mi note 10 with no luck you can find it there

AOD Wallpaper isin't working
Hi, I've downloaded the above mentioned wallpapers (from an another source tho) and both the home and lock screen wallpapers are running exactly as expected but the AOD super wallpaper is not working. I've tried installing the wallpapers from the mentioned drive link but for some reason I cannot install them. Please help.
P.S: My device is Redmi K20 running on MIUI 12 Global Version with region set to India.

Aod works only with this versions...
Uninstall every version of Super walls and install this one...
