fails to mention the up in pro mode iso to 3200 in the cam and 30 sec shutter vs 10 on android 9

Nice to know the camera got those cam speed and iso aditions, I am curious about the starage handling, as I previously read an article here in XDA that files created by any app would be available only for such app, the author saw this as a negative feature, I would like to see how that impacts overall file usage in real life now that android 10 is officially rolling out

The article does not mention what they crippled ...

Inquiring minds want to know. lol

External touchpads support is broken (both usb and bluetooth) - they don't work/gets recognized as mouse HID as it was on Android 9, currently more like some kind of touch input. Therefore mouse cursor acts strangely when using touchpads - it is way quicker in one plane (e.g. horizontal) than the other (e.g. vertical) which makes it usless.

The update does cripple support for Good Lock which is a huge drawback. You can no longer customize how many rows or columns appear in the quick settings. Many Pie themes are no longer working in 10. On the positive side, battery life has much improved with about 20% more battery at the end of the day. Certain apps such as Instagram will now switch to dark mode if you have it enabled systemwide. For those eagerly waiting, I'd say you're not missing out on much.

Every new version of Android on samsung starts without full support of every goodlock app. It will be the same thing for Android 11. They will update then eventually

One thing for me that kills the A10 update is being unable to Turn Off "Restrict Backgroud Data" on Power Saving Mode
I like to throttle the phone to stop losing battery as quick - Reduce Processor to 70% / AOD Off etc...
With the latest update they have removed the option to do this however when you activate it - It says be default that it is going to be switched on :/

Anybody faced the issue of KLWP not fully working after the update? I can set the wallpaper but the "click to launch app" does not work.

Thanks for this, I examined it.... My favorite was not described either, it is the "Smart Pop-Up View" - bubblehead type notifications for ANY APPS on your phone which when selected brings up said app in a tiny separate window!

That didn't come with Android 10 though. It's been there. Maybe it came to other devices on 10 but Samsung already had that feature.

HOLY Crap! You are absolutely correct! OMFG! Wish I had found that long ago!

I hate it when programmers change things just so it looks new and improved.
Zero-dark-thirty is NOT the time I want to discover that the snooze button on the alarm clock app has been "upgraded" and moved. Groggy/grumpy/sleepy self turned the alarm off this morning instead of just snoozing it.
Why do they keep effing with my snooze button?!?

Isn't that (also?) why it moves around?
It would be nice if Google could do something simple like say, have an automatic off setting so it's not wasting power during the night.
Must Samsung lead the way with everything Google does? Seriously?

Yes. It's something Samsung has had for ages now. I mean Google took the time to create a scheduled system for blue light reduction, yet couldn't bother to do the same with Ambient Display. It's either on 24-7 or off.
The best solution I've found is to put a piece of paper or such over the top sensor at night so the phone will think the device is in a pocket and turn off the screen.

Cheers for the tip! :good::good: We've done my part now let's wait
I just got my pixel 2 XL and can't believe google has not enabled this already, it's a very basic item and a must have for many.
Pretty pathetic, hopefully once roms start dropping this will fix many shortcomings on the device.
As mentioned in an different thread, using Accubattery will display the battery level on the AOD. In my brief testing, Google reported the app as not consuming any measurable amount of power overnight, so no appreciable battery draw. Also, there is a root app from an XDA RC that displays the music you are currently playing/streaming on to the AOD. This is different from the existing "now playing" feature already built in, and at the end of the article HERE it says that almost any "text" can be displayed on the AOD. It's not the built in Google controls for the AOD we are expecting, but there is hope for customization for those with root, and in the coming ROMs.
Well, got this notice, just don't know what "Changed" (shrug)

I hope they enable the ability to keep the icon on the lockscreen while removing it from the notification panel.. that would be perfect.

"AOE" Notification Light Alternative

This app is a great substitute for OnePlus 6T and no LED. Allows you to get colorful notifications from your favorite apps.

Tips and Tricks: Things that work for me
1. Battery Optimization don't optimize
2. Do not check my lock screen as background. ( helps get customized app color )

Make sure you have the app set to Don't Optimize if you haven't already. I'm not sure why it isn't working for you and not sure what you have for set up.
It is an amazing app!
I'm using this, had figured it out even before this thread.
Turn on 'New Notifications' in Ambient Display and also do not optimise the app.
It works. And it's the coolest alternative to a notification LED.

Mine uses little or no battery at all. Right now I have been up for 13 hours and AOE doesn't even register and I have been getting all my notifications
Use it for 2 days because I thought plus beat not working anymore ( I accidentally turn off lock screen notifications).
AOE working well but lack of feature I want - battery full notification.
Now back to plus beat.

Just installed this and it appears to be working. This is the first app that I see doing what I wanted (a very unobtrusive way of telling if notifications have arrived).
Did not need to to activate "New Notifications" under Ambient Display for it to work. Are you sure it's needed?
I'm not managing to customize the color of the colored stripes according to the app sending a notification. Not that I care too much, on Nexus 6P LED color was mostly irrelevant to me. I just needed a visual cue that something needed my attention if I missed the audio one.

I got it working but it times out after 1 minute. I have my display set to sleep after 1 minute of inactivity but if this follows that rule it's kind of useless for notifications.
Maybe I'm missing a setting?
Edit: found the setting I was missing.

What setting? I also see this behaving strangely. It seems that, as other apps, it gets killed in the background even if one opts not to battery optimize it.
OP behaves exactly like Apple in this regard: they get to decide how I should use *my* smarphone.

Yeah, I set all that. Results have been inconsistent as far as working after long inactivity is concerned.
I wish OP had thought of baking something similar in their OS, when they decided to take away the LED.

I agree, I wish OnePlus had baked something like this into the stock ROM. My second screenshot doesn't look like it posted for some reason so here it is.

so many complaints

So in the Samsung official s9 forum there are thread after threads of people complaining about the new 'downgrade' to Pie One Ui mainly about the camera features being removed,
Shutter button zoom removed
Separate Video and shutter buttons removed
Pro video settings removed
Selective focus is now useless (s9)
Selfie Camera default view is too close so effects all apps that use selfie camera.
The ugly iPhone look of the overall camera software.
Battery life is down quite a bit although I've been told that the may update fixes this at last.
There are a few other features missing or changed that i personally don't use.
I personally love the new ONEui especially combined with Samsungs one handed operation + app using gestures.
The weird thing is I'm not hearing any complaints in the s9 xda forums about the upgrade/downgrade to Pie.
Are you all happy with your phone's from Oreo to Pie ?
Personally I think they have lowered the quality of the camera to make their S10 phones look superior but that probs me having a tin hat moment
I had my S9 for all of about 2 hours - about the time it took to transfer from a screen-busted S8 to the replacement S9 a couple months ago - before the update to Pie occurred.
I've had no problems or issues with it. And I've had the S8 for just under a year and half so I went through its update from Nougat to Oreo.
I don't know what issues there are with "selective focus". It seems to work fine for me.
Now, I have disabled as much of Bixby as I can (deleted the Google app and removed that search bar too - completely useless for me). Changed the launcher to Nova Launcher which can remove those goofy rounded icon frames, using the BlackBerry Hub Suite of apps for all the IM stuff, even using the BlackBerry Virtual keyboard which I like better than the stock or any SwiftKey keyboard.
I honestly don't understand the complaints towards Pie. It's not all that different from Oreo, and I love the native dark theme.
I personally don't like the update to pie. Battery life is definitely worse, the wifi signal is worse (I tested it between the S5 and S7 and the S9 was the worst). I don't like the UI at all, reminds me of an iPhone. About the only thing I do like is the My files app. It's cleaner and easier to use and navigate.

You have nothing to compare it to then, Oreo was 100x better which is why people are a bit disappointed. And I have to say your setup sounds absolutely awful ?

You missed my line about having the S8 for almost a year and a half, during which time it updated from Nougat to Oreo. So, yes, I can definitely compare with Oreo, since I had it for about a year.
And, except for some shifting around of elements, I find it to be basically the same. I had no problems finding what I need anywhere within the revamped UI.
And, my setup works perfect for me and is absolutely wonderful. You can't say otherwise without trying it yourself
I know that features in camera like pro video, zoom using the shutter button, taking 3 pictures when setting a timer, motion panorama... are removed, but the ui isn't ugly, I actually liked it better than oreo.
Selective focus is a bit improved after software updates, but the blur effect isn't as stong as in oreo.
Battery life isn't too much worse, I think the first month I upgraded to one UI, it was very bad, but it has improved after learning my usage patterns...
Heat is noticeably improved since when I was on oreo my phone was a little too warm all the time, but now it's normal, even available RAM is higher, I have 1.4~1.6 GB free now, compared to 1~1.2 GB in oreo.
When it comes to animations, I find less frame drops with one UI. And I didn't experience any kind of major lag since I got the phone so no worries here.
The whole UI looks better for me, it's cleaner and easier to use, I've not changed any launcher, keyboard, or even themes, everything is stock. And I can safely say that one UI is overall better than oreo, unless you care about the missing camera features.
I am absolutely gutted about the camera software, but I do love the one UI and I just got the May update which is supposed to fix the battery problems.
I hate it that they removed the recent long press to multitask, i mean why would samsung remove such simple usefull feature?

Just go to settings>display>adaptive brightness and reset usage patterns. Then adjust it the way you want in each situation so it adapts to your adjustments...
This is the problem, it keeps cocking up, I reset usage and it's alright for a bit then it's drops to 0 brighteners so I move it to how I would like it and it'll be ok but then I go outside and the brightness doesn't increase so I adjust again for that and on we go because now auto brightness isn't doing anything and I'm constantly changing the brightness in the same brightness I've already set up, I reset again and all is ok for a while and then it starts again.
I'm going to wipe cache partition and reset brightness patterns and see how it goes.

Just Got My Red Magic 5 - Software Limitations

This is the Global version that just came out a couple of days ago. Some minor annoyances that was hoping to get some help on:
1. There seems to be no way to display the battery percentage.
Does anyone know of a system app that I need to disable to get this to work? None of the solutions online work with the Red Magic 5G overlay with Android 10, and I don't want to install a third party widget to get this done.
2. As far as I know, I can't customize the lock screen outside of a wallpaper.
Just shows a general date and time but I would like to put widgets or additional information if possible. If anyone has any insight let me know.
I know the phone just came out, but these two issues are EXTREMELY annoying. I honestly might have to flash this when a method becomes available because I'm definitely not liking the lack of customization Nubia has put on with their Android 10 overlay.
May i ask of yours is passing safety net?

Regarding #1, you are screwed. I've seen this mentioned a few times on different YouTube reviews. Regarding #2, you are correct. But even more surprising and ridiculous is #3, which I'll add here. It appears Nubia is forcing you to use the stock launcher! Yes, that's right, it's currently IMPOSSIBLE to use ANY launcher other than the one that comes out of the box. Nubia has said that this is INTENTIONAL! CRAZY!
I have battery percentage on mine.
Settings > power management > electricity percentage.
There is no settings > power management
Yeah same don't have those options.
Also can't figure out how to access APN settings
I've read that the only way to see % battery is to activate AOD, and the % will be displayed.
Best regards.
You have the latest firmware. My god the launcher is so buggy and bad. They really should let you use whichever launcher you want. Also no setting to change screen dpi or size and it doesn't even have the android 10 notifications. You can't expand or delete or reply from notification drawer. This is really really poor
What versions does everyone have.
I am NX659J_ENCommon_V4.05
Pulse version of phone.
I have no power management options.
I can reply in line to notification in the notification tray.
How is your Wifi speed? I have tried mine on 2Ghz and 5Ghz and I only get about 30MB down, whereas my Honor View 20 gets 100MB.
Launcher is fine once you have it all setup, but kept saying shortcut already exists. If you rebooted you see they are there.
Now I have it all as want it, thats not really an issue now, but not a great setup experience.

That's so weird no updates available for mine also
Battery Meter Overlay was the only app that I found to be able to show the battery % (choose the "Overlap the Statusbar" option). You have to buy the paid version if you want to hide it in full screen mode. It is not perfect, but it is better than nothing. You can choose from different kind of themes and change the colours, scale and position so it is pretty customizable
I already new about Nubia blocking the use of custom launchers (saw a review where it was mentioned) before buying the phone and wrote them about it and asked them to revert this bad decision (and I also told them to fix the missing battery %). I hope you all write them about it as well, so they know that they have to fix these issues. And if they don't allow the use of custom launchers they have to give us a better stock launcher with much better customizability.
Do different models have different firmware?
Have they ever pushed an update in previous versions?
Anyone getting poor WiFi speeds?
Mine is just about 30mb down on 5ghz WiFi when my other phone pushes 100mb.
Tried 2ghz even worse.
Thanks

Hi, anyone have any idea when will the global rom be released? Waiting to flash on my CN set..
Just noticed. All incoming calls are showing as "unknown" doesn't even show the caller number.
On O2 in the UK.
Anyone seeing this?
Thanks
Russ

General Exclusive : This is our first look at Android 13 “Tiramisu” and some of its upcoming features

https://www.xda-developers.com/android-13-tiramisu-exclusive-first-look/
App Languages
Runtime Permission for Notifications
TARE: The Android Resource Economy
Lock Screen Clock Layout !
Lock Screen Clock LayoutsWith Android 13, a new setting has been added in lock screen settings to toggle the layout of the clock on the lock screen.
In Android 12 currently, the lock screen clock is displayed in the double line layout that you see in the first screenshot above, but only when there are no notifications. When notifications arrive, the layout switches to a single line layout, and reverts back when notifications are cleared. The new setting allows users to retain the single-line layout persistently, something that users had been requesting for a while.
We’ve also seen evidence that this feature is being added to Android 12L, so you may be able to use this pretty soon.
These are all the new features on Android 13 that we have access to. There’s bound to be more features and changes coming, especially once the update officially releases. Until then, this is your first look at Android 13.

I believe the standard schedule every year is the developer preview versions - you can either sign up for the beta program to get, or possibly also flash full firmware if they make them available - start releasing maybe March, April, or May of each year, then they usually have four developer previews - generally monthly, then a few beta versions, and then the "final" release of the new Android version in October, usually coinciding or nearly coinciding with the release of their new Pixels.
(it's been almost three years since I got to test developer previews of Android, etc, since I used my Pixel 1 from 2016 through a few months after it stopped receiving any updates - which was December 2019)
Finally able to edit clocks on the lockscreen!
I'd like to see separate volume controls for calls and notifications as well.......I hope ?

In the meantime, you can use this app for that if you're not using anything else. It just turned into a payed app but you can subscribe for less than $1/yr after a free trial period.
Sound Profile (Volume control) - Apps on Google Play
Control phone volume for calls and notifications separately.
play.google.com
Based on the size of things, and the centred icon row at the bottom, I think this might be what some are referring to as Android 12L designed for tablets, instead of actual Android 13.
I love the large clock, hope that stays large with the option and not small like in the SS
the large clock is the worst thing they brought with android 12 and pixel 6/pro i cant wait to see the feature to make it small show up.... the large clock ruins the photos or backgrounds you put on your phone and for some people is really hard to read and understand .

How is a large clock hard to read or understand? Even the learning disabled would be able to tell what time it is.

It's just a matter of preference. To me (and some others), it's more natural to read time in one line, not have to see huge hours numbers, then move our eyes down to see the huge minutes numbers. If you like it, that's fine, just a lot of folks including myself don't like it.
