My power button doesn't work so the only way to power on my phone is by adb. I unlock android with the fingerprint scanner. So can I boot up the device with the finger print scanner?

No, but you can boot into the OS using fastboot actually. Press and keep holding volume down button, while connecting USB cable to your phone. Then, enter "fastboot reboot" (assuming you have fastboot drivers installed). Your phone will reboot immediately.

Haven't tested it but it looks like he can not only lock and unlock his phone but also go to power menu with fingerprint. If you can also boot the phone when it's powered off idk.

It's possible but....
In theory if you create a stand by mode, just to keep minimal power to feed the power of finger print device, it's possible...

Imagine if you install red led on reader, and when power on , appears on the bootanimation E.T the extraterrestrial showing his red finger and saying on a good "MP4 BOOTANIMATION" E.T PHONE HOME Hahahahaha!

So I just got my HTC One X. I went to turn it on and the screen came up with just a scramble of colors. I have tried the reset where you hold the power and volume down keys together and all I get is the back, home and recent apps buttons to light up. I have tried holding down power until those same buttons quit flashing and then hold down the volume down key. Nothing seems to work.
Any thoughts? Is my phone broke or is there something that I need to reset? Thanks.

I wish I could do that but when I turn on my phone all I see is this pixilated mural and have no ability to type in anything.

Hi,
Can anyone confirm if they have the same issue. I have set up the lock with either code or finger print, but i have notice that i can sometimes get into the device without either.
Tap power button - slide screen up (to access code screen) - Hit Emergency - when emergency dial screen shows, hit the back button.
this has worked on my device a number of times, but i'm wondering if its a common fault, so something specific to settings i have.

possibly it's not a bug, i think your fingerprint was verified after pressing the power button.
you can wake the phone by double clicking the screen and don't touch the power button, if you can still unlock the phone without inputting code then it may be a bug

thought that with the finger print myself, so i used a finger that wasn't linked to it. Double tapping the screen didn't work. Again, it was still happening intermitantly.

I don't think it's a bug as my z5 is connected to my Microsoft band 2 via Bluetooth and after I paired it with my phone I was given an option to add the Microsoft band 2 as authorised device or something.. I did not bother to read the rest and chose OK, so now when ever I am wearing my Microsoft band 2 my z5 do not ask for password or finger print. I also thought that when I power up my z5 with power button it unlocked automatically with my finger print so I woke my z5 with double tap on the screen and slide up the lock screen and it did not ask for any password...

Hi.
I unblock bootloader. There were no problems. I used the phone for some time.
However, today I entered the bootloader and pressed in the fastboot power down mode.
The phone does not turn on. You can only see the charging icon after connecting the charger. Without the charger there is a black screen, the diode is on. I do not know what to do. Power + volume up / down does not work.
Ed.
I would try holding the power and volume up button for at least 2-3 minutes. If it does come on, as soon as you feel it vibrate, move your finger down to the volume down button and hold it until you get into download mode. Then boot to the bootloader and then recovery and restore a nandroid.

This help me.
Thx.
Is it possible to unlock phone with touching fingerprint sensor only while screen is off?. All my other phones had accept this one. I don't mean pushing button in or double tapping the screen to wake up first.
nope
You can push the power button and hold your thumb stationary on the press down to wake and unlock at the same time.
But no you can't wake the phone without issuing a wake command (power button or double tap touchscreen).
I hoped there would a be an app to assign the unlock function or a magisk module. My. Lenovo p2 and htc 10 both unlocked out of the box
I am considering buying S20 plus.
Can you unlock the phone with just the fingerprint scanner or do you need to first press the power button? If both have to be pressed what is the point of not having the fingerprint scanner on the power button?
