Nokia 6.1 serious charging issues - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

Hello. I have a Nokia 6.1 (2018) with Android Pie (Lineage OS 16). Until a few days ago, it never had a charging issue. It was charging rapidly.
But since 2 days ago it began to say it was charging slowly. At first i thought it was some thing which will pass so i used the phone while charging.
But since today it really did it. From the moment i began to write this to this point it CONSUMED 3% while "charging". Further more, i measured the input Ah and it showed it was charging with ~250 Ah, at 4.2 V. 250Ah from 3000 Ah as it shows on the socket.
Can it be a software problem? I doubt that is some cable issue, it looks like new, charger the same. Please help me.

[Q] Charging issues

My phone has recently started having charger issues. When I'm able to get it to charge it will fully charge the battery, but sometimes it will actually decrease in charge when on the charger. Just last night I had it on the charger while the phone was off and it was showing 100% charge but when I turned it on it actually only had a 2% charge.
I brought it to ATT today and they said it was the charger port by looking at the pin. I'm not fully convinced since I compared it to my friends s3 and it looks exactly the same.
Would anyone have any idea on what the problem might be?

[Q] Charging Takes Forever???

Hello,
So I was at about 10% when I went to bed last night (around 11 PM). I plugged my phone into an outlet charger (the one that came with my old Nexus 4, not the one in the G3 box) and when I woke up (645 AM) the phone was only at 65% charged? I can't imagine that it would take over 7 hours to do a complete charge. Has anyone else experienced this? The only thing I can think of is that my old charger produces less output than the one in the box, but I haven't tested it out yet.
Lou
Try it again with the actual g3 charger so you can know for sure if it's a phone issue or a charger issue.

Over the past few weeks I have been testing all kinds of chargers and cables. I noticed that the G2 charger is the closest to G3 but not as good. The issue is the cable itself. Kopi 20awg with oem charger, g2 will work, charges at the same speed as the original one.

Did your phone stop charging in the middle of the night? That happened to mine on the first night when I used an old iPhone (1000mA) charger. It just quit somewhere in the 60% range. Switching to a higher powered charger (iPad - 2100mA) it charges very quickly. On my desktop at work, the USB3 port I have charges at an abysmally slow rate (prob 500mA or less, and in a lousy reception area so it's burning 100-200 of that just keeping the network alive).
The boxed charger, btw, is 1800mA.
Thanks for the responses. I will try the charger that came with the device overnight tonight and report back in case anyone else has similar issues.

The phone/battery are literally 2 days old. Can't imagine it's the battery already. I will do some more troubleshooting since is obviously not a common occurrence.
Strange

try wiping battery in cwm if helps, and install super charge as some custom build roms are buggy.
My Xperia ZL wouldn't charging from getting too hot in the middle of the night. I would wake up to a very low battery. Between the screen waking up, trying to find a signal, and covering it with my pillow it would get too hot. Haven't had the issue with the G3 yet but I have woken up to the screen on and that stupid battery fully charged message.

my scren doesnt stay on when battery is full. it will light up for a brief period of time and then turns off. the green led stays on.
The nexus 4 charger is probably rated at a much lower amperage 1.2A actually https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_4_Power_Adapter?id=nexus_4_charger&hl=en
However your cable will also play a big role in this. The rating on the cable will determine whether or not it will actually allow that much current to pass through it. The stock charger works great, it chargers in less than 2 hours from 0 to 100%. I only use my nexus 7 charger to charge my spare battery on its cradle which is no big deal because it doesn't need to be fast.
Mine takes about 2 hours and 20 min for 0 to 100%
That charger may also be sending dirtier power because it's older too. I'm amazed at how fast mine charges. I haven't timed it, but it has to charge over 35% in an hour if you start at around 20%. Hell, I have started wirelessly charging with a Powerbot (connected to official charger) at about 15% at night and woken up a few hours later and checked the time and the thing was at 100%.
RESOLVED
OK, this is resolved, seems like the issue was in fact the charger I was using. I used the one that came with the unit and it charged up no problem. At least that issue is solved in case anyone else runs into. Thanks everyone.

Charging issues

Hey
Had the device since around August '14 and never had any issues. Recently though I've had some seriously bad issues with charging. I was running Paranoid Android and my device died, once it finally reboot and started charging it took 5 hours to get from 4% to 70% - With completely no usage. I then got home and flashed the latest Resurrection Remix (Just in case the ROM was the issue) and unfortunately my problem has worsened.
Device takes literally 12 hours+ to charge from under 10% to 99% (I haven't seen it yet 100% in 2 days). When it finally does charge it drains quickly from the lightest of usage (WHILST still charging). I've tried 3 different main plugs and sockets, numerous USBs (From the official LG one to Samsung, Huawei, Polaroid, unbranded etc etc) and my problem still remains.
I can't just flash back to stock as it's currently dead and refusing to charge (Takes a lot of messing around just to get it to turn on and charge from 1%).
Any help would be very much appreciated as I've never had this problem on any of my devices, when I checked my battery health last week it was still reading as 'Healthy' so I really don't think the issue lies in the battery or chargers.
Thank you,
Curtis.
When you said you flashed back to stock, have you used the TOT method?
Noted that you mentioned that your battery should be fine, but probably worth to check it with another battery.

Attempt To Revive A Dying T700 With Charging Issues

My T700 is now 5 years old and about 6 months back, it started showing issues with charging.
I've had it rooted and running on Lineage for a long time.
First signs of trouble rose when i noticed that my battery was discharging quite a bit.
Charging while turned on will not work as the battery was discharging more then it was charging and regardless of what charger/cable combination i used, it was the same.
While turned off, it would take 48 hours to go from 50% to 100%. Very very slow charging.
First thing i did was to change the battery.
I bought one of aliexpress for like 10usd that looked like the original.
Replaced the battery and it shows that the new battery only has half the capacity.
That was rubbish.
Googled for a more reliable battery and purchased a cameronsino one for about 30usd together with a charging port replacement part.
Fixed both in.
Good news, battery capacity reads as 4900mah.
Bad news, same charging issues.
I'm running out of ideas, so i bought a t700 mainboard/motherboard replacement off aliexpress for about 15usd.
Has good reviews so lets see if its some IC or chip on the mainboard that is giving these charging issues.
Will update this post when i receive and fix the new components

You didn't mention the charger or the cable. Both OEM? Try the charger/cable for your smart phone (if you have one).
FWIW, I can use my T700 indefinitely with it plugged into a USB 2.0 port on my PC.

yes
both OEM and aftermarket ones tested.
tested on both stock rom and lineage.
screen off drain is 20% in 8 hours.
that is why i have decided that this more of a hardware issue than rom.
since battery and charging ports have been replaced, i'll wait on the motherboard.
For lite use,i just underclock my cpu 600mhz and gpu to 166 or 266 for about 10+ hours browser and about 6-7 of online video(all on wifi T805).I was able to monitor back on Touchwiz 6.0 how much the charger mA can send when tablet in use so i just lower gpu cpu clock,if i want higher performance just switch back to high clock.
UPDATE
Got my replacement mainboard and replaced it last night.
installed twrp, wiped device, installed lineage 14.1, installed magisk
all working very well. standby battery drain of 3% in 5 hours.
tablet good as new!

Battery always showing 0% and shutting down when unplugged!

One fine morning my Note 10.1 2014 battery started showing as 0% and will not 'charge' (i.e., percentage will not rise). As a result, the tablet has to stay plugged-in always to use it (just like a desktop computer). The moment it is unplugged, it shuts down in 1 or 2 seconds. Tried different chargers/cables/flex cables/new battery/uninstalling/reinstalling/warming...& what not. But nothing solves the issue. I came to know that the battery is actually holding/taking in charge which is evident from the fact that the tablet runs without being plugged-in in the recovery/TWRP mode! It seems just that the android OS is not recognizing the charging. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Is the battery really good? The boot menu uses a lot less current than normal boot up operation.
Otherwise you're looking at a possible mobo failure. If it has a charger pcb it could be that.
A Samsung Experience center at a Best Buy might be able to sort it out for you.

It is not the battery, I am pretty sure! As for the other possible causes suggested, it seems Samsung considers the product too 'old' now to look into/offer any service/parts replacement. Anyway, thanks for the quick reply!
I got the same experience. Recently installed LOS14.1 on my Samsung 2 7.0 and battery just drained and inspite charging it overnight never recovered. I think it's really the LOS 14.1. Now I cant even boot it up anymore.

Please do post, if you find a solution!
I strongly doubt that LOS14.1 (lineage-14.1-20210320-UNOFFICIAL-lt03lte) is the culprit as my old P605 still works with the unchanged battery.
Once charged it lasts for quite some days (usage 0.5h/day) without problems.
It's always in flight mode and mostly WLAN is shut off.
It's not that cuz of an OS it's the old battery problem....
Same thing happens to one of my cellhphones.
I charrge it to 100 % while it's turned OFF then tomorrow I turned it on and battery is at 1 %, 0 % and shuts off.
It's just old Li-Ion battery which needs replacement.
After having replaced the battery with a new one with about 50% charge the discharged P605 would only recharge to the level of the original charge. It returned to normal behaviour after charging once with the original 5v/2A charger and the original cable with the second GND contact missing. If the latter did the trick, with most cables u can't tell whether the contact is wired to GND or not.
But in the days of miniUSB, the second GND was sometimes used to put the device in charge or pc connection mode, by swapping cables.
