Hi, i have a stock 5T with locked bootloader (i know, i should have it unlocked when i get the phone), and i'm on stock oxygen OS 9.0.4 with no issues. I want to Root the phone mainly for a proper working GCam with fixes etc. I'm concerned about losing my data and i want to make a perfect backup easy restorable, to bring back the phone to this exact status with all apps and apps data.
I have a Oneplus One and with that i was using titanium backup pro wich is perfect for this. If i root my phone with methods like KingRoot, so without flashing recovery or unlocking the bootloader i can make a good backup with TI, and then wipe phone flash TWRP and restore it? i will face any problem? are theese root methods safe? Help

after a couple of hours spent reading the forum gaining many valuable info from tutorials, etc. - one important question remains for me:
How do I do a full backup of my Xperia Pro before I start modding / rooting it? There is no stock recovery console, right?
I do not intend to unlock the bootloader as this seems to be not fully reversible (DRM keys get lost)...
If a full backup is impossible - what is the best backup option / compromise?
After that, I want to root and then remove bloatware. I'm still on GB 2.3.4, build 4.0.2.A.0.69. Will switch to stock ICS later, presumably next year.

There is no need to backup if you just wish to root as long as you ensure that everything is done properly and you don't end up messing up your software. That's a different story if you wish to change to a custom ROM though. What you want to do is back up important stuff like your messages and contacts. To do those, you can use any app found on the Android market. Titanium backup is a good option, though I don't use it myself. Files on your SD card will not be touched, so there's no need to worry on that count.

There are recoveries that work on locked bootloader. You can use them to backup everything on the NAND. Or like the person above me said you can use applications to backup specific things like Messages,etc.

I finally decided to upgrade to ICS before rooting and because this procedure involves flashtool, I found out that flashtool is able to restore kernel and system partition with locked boot loader.
Now, my phone is rooted and I finally was able to backup and clean it up with Titanium Backup which I already had a license for...
Another tool that I discovered: X-Parts! It allows to boot into CWM with boot loader still locked... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler&hl=de I know that it is not as fail proof as CWM installed via boot loader, but it is still better than nothing...
I want to try some custom ROMs on my M8. Before I do this I want to do a full back up. From everything I've read Titanium is by a long shot the most popular so I see no reason not to go that route. However, from what I've read rooting the M8 will wipe my phone, but I can't use Titanium until I'm rooted. So it seems I'm stuck, and wondering what the best way is to proceed.

Rooting by itself won't reset your phone, using the HTC unlock token to unlock the bootloader will. However, if you can S-off, you can also unlock your bootloader without tripping the factory reset. Once your bootloader is unlocked, you can install a custom recovery and backup your (unrooted) OS image - then use that recovery to install su.
Unfortunately, the prerequisite to all of that is getting S-off. If you can't, or won't, do that, then yeah - as soon as you unlock the bootloader your /data partition will get nuked. It's a safety measure to prevent someone from stealing your phone, unlocking the bootloader, and bypassing the OS protections to get the data on it. Fortunately, it only happens when you unlock. If you subsequently leave the bootloader unlocked, it won't happen again.
Hello. I just got my new phone (Lenovo A1000) and ofc first things first i gotta root it. However because i have bad experience with Lenovo rooting and then upgrading i decided to upgrade it first. However i am concerned about the ability of kingroot to root it after the upgrades. What should i do? Is there a way to create a nandroid backup without root so i can reverse an upgrade? What i have in mind is creating images of my phone's partitions that i can flash afterwards with SP flash tools but i would be happy with anything that can do the same job.

First of all, you posted to the forum section for the M8s variant, not the M8. This is an easy mistake to make, and pretty common. In any case, see my responses below in red font:

Simple answer, you need to unlock the bootloader to root.
Long answer, some folks have rooted with an app called kingroot. But results are very inconsistent. I've seen a good number of folks who ended up with kingroot unsuccessful, having no root, and also no way to unlock the bootloader! So not a good place to be.
And in any case, in my opinion, any root attempt should be preceded by backing up your data anyway, in case anything goes wrong. So if your intent (in not unlocking the bootloader) is to bypass the data wipe (and skip backing up your data), then we are basically defeating the purpose.
Moral of the story, I would strongly recommend to just bite the bullet, and stick with the "standard" process to unlock the bootloader in order to root.

which need unlock bootloader in which all data on mobile will be formatted due to unlock bootloader You are correct, in that you have a "chicken and egg" problem. You can't install custom recovery (TWRP) until you unlock the bootloader. And you can't make a TWRP backup, until you install TWRP.
Side note, CMW never officially supported the M8. There are some unofficial CMW ports for the M8, all very old. Which will almost certainly cause problems. I strongly recommend sticking with latest TWRP for the M8.

"Current device status" is a little vague. It depends on what you want to backup:
- For things like contacts, I would suggest just backing up to Google (may already be the case)
- Things like photos, music: use a cloud solution, or simply backup (copy and paste) to your computer
- Stock ROM: You can back this up once you have TWRP installed. There are also stock backup collections, as well as official HTC RUUs for some M8 versions.
- App data: This one is a little tougher. One option is the app "Helium" from the Google Play Store. This is supposed to be able to backup app data, settings, etc. without root. I personally haven't used it (one of the first things I do with a new phone is root, lol). But other folks on XDA seem to have some success with Helium. It is developed by the CWM team.

I have a son with Asperger syndrome and that give parents sometimes unusual task to solve.
He got a Sony xz2 compact, but he refuses to use a phone until the camera and google services are disabled, do to security lags. He wants to remove the system camera software to make sure no one can exploit the camera.
In other words, he wants to be so anonymous and hacker free as possible - and the camera is a big issue for him.
And yes, I know is possible to disable the camera in Sony configuration (and it's done) but that is not enough.
I hope getting some help to find a solution this two tasks:
1) How to get or make an image of the phone to store/save in my pc so it can be restored if needed.
2) How to root the xz2 compact and uninstall the camera
I will really appreciate some help in this issue.

1. There is not much you can do, backup related on a Sony phone with locked bootloader. You can use google backup, if you want, but even Sony's solution won't work on a phone with Android Pie, after bootloader is unlocked (it would, if you are on Oreo and you would apply drm-fix after unlocking). Almost all other solutions need root, which you don't have on a locked phone.
2. In this thread you will find a step-by-step guide to install twrp recovery and root (by flashing Magisk) and the download for twrp recovery, made by @MartinX3
I won't link the recovery file itself, because it depends on the way you want to proceed. You can use Sonys stock rom or you can install aosp/omnirom.
In your case i would use aosp or omnirom, because it comes without google crap and it is pure Android. You only need to delete/rename the camera with a root explorer and you are good to go.
But i'm sure, @MartinX3 can tell you more about aosp or omnirom and how to flash it, because i have not used it yet. Anyway, camera is not finished on aosp/omni, so you won't loose very much.

Thanks for the useful information. I'm not very firm at the Android version (oreo or pie) - but the phone is a Sony Experia xz2 model H8324 and Android ver. 8.0.0 (patch level april 1, 2018). Hope this make sense
This is my first sony, so i'm not the "most helpful hand", i think.
Backup related, if you use sony backup before unlock on oreo, you can flash drmfix after unlock and then you should be able to use sony backup to restore your data.
If this is successful, you are rooted and you should be able to use Titanium Backup.
But as sony newbie i don't know how far sonys backup solution goes.
Anyway, i'll recommend in your case a rom like aosp or omni, because there are no Google things in it.
Why not cover the cameras with stickers if that's the biggest issue? You'll have to root the phone to completely disable all the G Apps, some of the firmware versions allow you to completely disable the G services - if you trust it.
You can use pm uninstall command thru adb shell. This way the app gets removed for the user, and thus seems totally removed. The apk itself do still remain in the system folder, and can be reinstalled if wanted, but can't be launched. This method do not need rooting either.
You can't make and image of the phone, at least not without rooting it first. But that will break some stuff, like camera, and that can NOT be restored in ANY way (drm keys are lost forever). For most (all?) Xperia devices there are images available for flashing with FlashTool/Xperifirm, but note that this will not recover the lost drm keys if you unlocked the bootloader in the first place.
