Hello. I just got my new phone (Lenovo A1000) and ofc first things first i gotta root it. However because i have bad experience with Lenovo rooting and then upgrading i decided to upgrade it first. However i am concerned about the ability of kingroot to root it after the upgrades. What should i do? Is there a way to create a nandroid backup without root so i can reverse an upgrade? What i have in mind is creating images of my phone's partitions that i can flash afterwards with SP flash tools but i would be happy with anything that can do the same job.

after a couple of hours spent reading the forum gaining many valuable info from tutorials, etc. - one important question remains for me:
How do I do a full backup of my Xperia Pro before I start modding / rooting it? There is no stock recovery console, right?
I do not intend to unlock the bootloader as this seems to be not fully reversible (DRM keys get lost)...
If a full backup is impossible - what is the best backup option / compromise?
After that, I want to root and then remove bloatware. I'm still on GB 2.3.4, build 4.0.2.A.0.69. Will switch to stock ICS later, presumably next year.

There is no need to backup if you just wish to root as long as you ensure that everything is done properly and you don't end up messing up your software. That's a different story if you wish to change to a custom ROM though. What you want to do is back up important stuff like your messages and contacts. To do those, you can use any app found on the Android market. Titanium backup is a good option, though I don't use it myself. Files on your SD card will not be touched, so there's no need to worry on that count.

There are recoveries that work on locked bootloader. You can use them to backup everything on the NAND. Or like the person above me said you can use applications to backup specific things like Messages,etc.

I finally decided to upgrade to ICS before rooting and because this procedure involves flashtool, I found out that flashtool is able to restore kernel and system partition with locked boot loader.
Now, my phone is rooted and I finally was able to backup and clean it up with Titanium Backup which I already had a license for...
Another tool that I discovered: X-Parts! It allows to boot into CWM with boot loader still locked... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler&hl=de I know that it is not as fail proof as CWM installed via boot loader, but it is still better than nothing...

I'm trying hard to decide what is the best practice for rooting and if needed unrooting my G3. I have read a lot in this forum, but I can't say I feel ready. So I thought I might ask in the forum.
So, first thing to do is root. As I understand this is fairly simple, I just have to follow one of the posted methods.
Now, say I'm rooted. I do all the tweaks I want and then I need to backup everything. So, I suppose I will make a backup with Titanium pro.
Then a new firmware version is released. Now the questions start
1. Should I try to upgrade with lg suite without unrooting? What are the possible outcomes? Keep root? Loose Root? In this case can I just root again?
2. Go back to stock (with lg flash tool), then upgrade and then root again? In this case can I just load titanium backup and therefore recover all my data?
3. Just unroot without loosing data (e.g. With lg suite) then upgrade and reroot?
4. Is the backup I have made with Titanium useless if I flash my phone to stock and then remain unrooted?
Am I too confused? Lol
Can you guys give me an idea of how you proceed when a new firmware is out? How long does it take to follow your plan of unrooting-upgrading-rerooting? Is it a matter of minutes, hours?

Hello. I have baught a lenovo s850 from china, which of course has a chinese rom installed and is unrooted. Because I have some battery draining issues, I want to install a european rom on this phone. But I am not sure for some things.
1. Should I root this phone fist? (I would like to have a full backup of this phone, in case something goes wrong) I tried to take a backup with mtk droid tools which fails because the phone is not rooted.
2. If rooting is needed for the backup, then if something fails during rooting, how can i go back?
3. Should I install custom recovery? (ex. TWRP) If yes, is this procedure dangerous?
any other advice concerning the installing a rom procedure will be appreciated.
Hello, fellow A720f owners. I messed up my Type-C port. While it can still definitely charge, still quite fast at that, the data transfer doesn't seem to work. So, no Odin for me.
Luckily, I've already rooted the phone and installed cmw as my custom recovery way before I messed the port up (submerged phone in a swimming pool for too long)
My phone went into a boot loop after I tried unrooting via SuperSu and rerooting via Kingroot (I was trying to see if I could really root my phone through Kingroot.) Because I saw that Kingroot was performing some shady actions (it installed itself as a system app for one), used root explorer to remove Kingroot from the systems folder.
I was planning on flashing a custom ROM via sd card, but I haven't seen any roms for the a7 2017 (6.0.1)
I failed to make a backup as well as I wasn't expecting things to go awry. (lesson learned)
So, I now have a question that you probably already know because of the title.
Inquiry: Is it possible to restore my phone using someone else's backup?
Request: If yes, is anyone of you willing to send me a backup so I can restore my phone? What other measures should I take to ensure that the procedure will succeed?

Hi, i have a stock 5T with locked bootloader (i know, i should have it unlocked when i get the phone), and i'm on stock oxygen OS 9.0.4 with no issues. I want to Root the phone mainly for a proper working GCam with fixes etc. I'm concerned about losing my data and i want to make a perfect backup easy restorable, to bring back the phone to this exact status with all apps and apps data.
I have a Oneplus One and with that i was using titanium backup pro wich is perfect for this. If i root my phone with methods like KingRoot, so without flashing recovery or unlocking the bootloader i can make a good backup with TI, and then wipe phone flash TWRP and restore it? i will face any problem? are theese root methods safe? Help
