To buy or not... - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Questions & Answers

It looks like the mi 9 SE will be released global on the 28th of March. I want to "measure" how big the xda community will be for this phone, and also just curious...
If the mi 9 SE will be released globally, will you consider buying this phone (answer in poll)?

Well it's just as easy to modify as most of Xiaomi phones so I guess soon there will be here some custom rom choices. Especially if the only other smaller size competitor is Samsung 10e, for over twice the price.
I have 9se for about three weeks so far and must admit it's a great piece of hardware, but only if you like compact devices. Otherwise I'd rather choose Redmi Note 7 (limited budget) or Mi 9 or keep waiting for Poco F2.

Yes, absolutely. I'm looking forward to purchase the 128gb varient. I LOVE compact phones, especially the ones with flagship spec i.e. Sony. But I'm definitely getting the Mi 9 SE.

Actually, its form factor seem to be the best. I would consider buying the P30 or S10e, but the price is way better on the Mi 9 SE.
Just wondering if it worth waiting for the Mi A3 lite, which would be about the same smartphone except for the snapdragon (660 and not 712) but with Android One and b28....

It depends on what is important for you. I am planning to buy too, after I have seen some reviews and possibly if I see some development activity here.
The reasons I would buy this phone are: small size, amoled screen, quite decent chipset and nfc.
I would personally not buy the galaxy s10e because of the high price and the lack of developement I have seen with their previous phones.

After having a mi A1 for over a year, I'm NEVER getting another Android one phone from Xiaomi!

Ho that's interesting, can you explain why? (I guess the amoled screen won't be on the Mi A3 and that's why i'll buy the 9 SE, but still I'm curious)

I just watched a couple of reviews and forum posts so mine is not a "direct" opinion, anyway
About photos, they are very good. They are not great, as well as big brother Mi 9, probably that's due to the software: AI and drivers are still not perfectly calibrated on Sony IMX586. It looks like worst than Mi 8, even if on paper Mi9/Mi9SE should have a better sensor.
About battery, it's enough! If you use dark theme, you can reach 6 hours of display on. Recently Xiaomi released DC function for Mi 9 , maybe we will see the same for Mi 9 SE because both have AMOLED display, which can benefit of this DC function.
If battery sometime isn't enough, QC @ 18W can pump in a few minutes the energy you need to reach late night.

Photos during daylight are great, just as you wish them to be. Every lens is doing it's job well - you can get a nice close up photo with zoom, wide angle lens proved to be useful as well, bokeh is nice (but it used to be so even on Mi 6). I am a little disappointed with night mode though - before I was playing with it on Mix 3 and there the results looked like magic, here are mediocre. It looks like the algorithm is only increasing the general brightness of the photo without recognizing the difference between stuff which should be visible and that is supposed to remain dark. The effect is obviously worse than on Mi 9 (basing on the reviews).
The battery is sufficient. Mi 9 SE as a smaller size phone is not bought for gaming therefore for any other activity can be used quite long. E.g. I've got over 14 hours of continuous movie play (MX Player HW+) and 25 hours when left as a clock (Big Clock app on Google Play). When you're not using the phone the battery drain is about 1% per hour with Ambient Display on.

Xiaomi is notoriously slow with updates. Like now, it's the end of March still no March patch, some people didn't even get Feb patch yet. And the biggest f*** up that Xiaomi did is after android pie update. Wifi Mac has changed, some people got their phone bricked, wifi keeps disconnecting, battery life is super poor (4-5h sot), a lot of bugs I encounter every day, still using 3.18 kernel instead of 4.9 etc. etc.

Nah, the only reason why switched to custom for a while is because the wifi problem, everyone is facing this issue. It's disconnects won't won't connect back, and 5ghz wifi speed is very poor.

I want the mi 9 se as a replacement device. I finally want a premium (cut down) flagship phone, and hopefully will last for about 4 years or more.

Looks like I was following a false track. The release from 28th only contained mi 9 and redmi note 7.
There have been a few others sources hinting towards a global launch. For now we just have to wait.

Many AliExpress sellers are accepting pre-sales with some displaying pictures showing stock of the global version. I have placed an order with HK Goldway, I'll update when it's shipped.

It is also listed on geekbuying for buying, not only for preorder.
6/64 edition for about 330€ after using coupons seems to be quite a good deal.

Pros:
- 6" screen is still enough.
- Amoled screen and non-intrusive notch.
- Size. The device itself is tiny and lightweight.
- Hardware is below flagship, but much better than mid-range.
- Treble enabled, kernel source already released.
Cons:
- MIUI environment is not so friendly.
- dev scene (I hope I am wrong).
- OEM updates.

Miui and oem updates aren't the issue for me.

Ok, so to summerize:
- Small from factor
- Amoled screen
- Indisplay fingerprint
- 4G b20 and b28
- Widevine L1
- 6Gb RAM
A part for the CPU power, it is even more interesting for me than s10e, and for half the price.
So I definetly swap my OnePlus 6 for this device. The last question is where should we buy it to be sure we have the global version?
I saw that honorbuy.com send the right one with even european charger, but a bit expansive...
Fantacy seller on aliexpress? Anyone ever tried?
Thanks.

I would reccomend honorbuy because of european stock and no VAT on delivery (if you are based in Europe).
Devices are shipped with european socket charger.
If you buy on Aliexpress you must check any custom duty that would be added to the shipment in your country.

OnePlus or Xiaomi Mi 6

Hi All!,
I am a current OnePlus 3t user, and it's a great phone. I was looking to get a new phone for 2 main reasons:
The space on the OnePlus I have is limitted to 64 Gb, I am running out.
With the new Snapdragon 835 out, I thought I'd look for a phone with that if I were to upgrade.
So I thought I'd check out the OnePlus 5, however the price of it put me off. Having done some research, I really like the look of the Xiaomi Mi 6. However there are a few things that are still making me reconsider:
The reviews I have seen have commented the software is buggy. It crashes and stops working at times. The software on the OnePlus 3T just works. I've not had any problems. If I get the Mi6, will it be a case of buying a buggy phone?
Also with the software, I've never used MiUi, and personally I like the simplicity and near stock Android on the OnePlus. How big of a change is the MiUi and is it customisable?
Does the Mi6 have the ability to capture RAW images?
Thanks in advance! :good:
I migrated quickly to Xiaomi.EU ROM when I purchased Mi6, although I didn't have any problem with (fake) supplied ROM.
I've used my mom's 3T for quite a bit, and the stock Android feel of OxygenOS and frequent and fast update from OnePlus is the big... plus.
MIUI, on the other hand, has very bad notification handling. It feels like you're using Android 4.2/4.4 something. You can't swipe left/right on the lockscreen notifications to make them go away, nor you can't expand it nicely like in pure android (You can do it on notification shade however, using 2 fingers, but the experience just sucks). I tried floatify to emulate the notification in stock android, but it's not enough.
MIUI for Mi6 hasn't provided RAW capture capability AFAIK.
OnePlus 5 has released their kernel source, so dev can easily start working custom ROM on that. But Xiaomi has been notorious keeping the kernel source for a long time (about 6 months+ on previous flagship), that makes the non-MIUI based ROM harder to develop.
I'm currently trying to get LineageOS installed on my Mi6, I'll post more on that LineageOS thread maybe tomorrow evening or the day after.
There is always some plus and minus. I’ve been using Xiaomi 5 Pro and I’m very happy {:m034:}
I used to have One+1 and One+3. Both were great phones.
With perfect Quality/Price factor. Even with EU prices:-/
Now I had been waiting for One+5 and all-around I’m very disappointed wit it.
Reason?
USB 2, No OIS, Software AND Price for EU!!!
It’s not the Flagship killer anymore, it starts to be exclusive peace of equipment.
My main decision point (quality/price factor) dropped down rapidly.
I really prefer MIUI in comparison to Cyanogen (1+1) or OxygenOS (1+3).
With weekly Globe-Roms upgrade (http://mi-globe.com) I’m really satisfied. Mi 5 works very smooth.
OK., it’s with open boot loader and rooted, but all my phoned have been same way in the past
(and will be in future )
I do not remember what I used in the first case, but in 1+3, I changed it to Resurrection Remix ROM.
I agree that all Oneplus society forum support is great. Same with software developers.
I hope that here in MIUI world it will be the same soon.
Especially that after all comparisons of my own, I decided to order Mi 6, 6/128 one.
))
Without any doubt the mi6, and specially if you can buy it at 369USD in some aliexpress offers.
I just Got the Mi 6 pro. Fresh in my hand. It looks great, and feels excellent. It's running very smooth at the moment but hey, is brand new.
I have my 3t on hand.
I think most of the comments are correct. One plus updates quick esp of your on the beta stream, it's smooth and you don't have to deal with MIUI overlay - the OnePlus launcher is excellent.
The Mi 6 is very emotional - what the 3T has and the 5 does not.
Practically, get the 5....you know what to expect. The Mi6 feels great though.....!
I have to edit this: having had the phone for a week - the Mi6 is the smoothest, fastest phone in town right now, period, including the S8 Plus. It's very slick indeed, very, very quick, had an excellent camera and great Sound.
It's very difficult to put the Mi6 down and pick up any of the other phones.

On the same boat. I have been reading about the touchscreen delay problems, bluetooth connectivity and some other bugs and i am hesitant to do the leap of faith on mi6.
One plus 5 on the other hand has such community and gets so many updates that you are sure that software problems will be fixed as soon as possible.

If you find bugs on MI 6,you can tell the developers of Xiaomi to fix them.
I got both the op5 and Mi6, the op5 has an real deal-breaker with the "jelly screen" design flaw. As for now there is no fix and oneplus says its "natural". So the Mi6 is an better choice for me.

i recon that bluetooth bugs have existed with the launch and they are yet to get a 'fix'.
Updates for global seem non existant but on the other hand thats what you get for the mi series. Xiaomi is pretty great for international devices, mainly speaking about the redmi series. Rest seem to be left untouched(Mi mix, note 2, mi5 s etc).
I am gonna hold myself from buying this yet.

Xiaomi MI6 or Huawei P10?

I'm looking to buy new phone, now I have Redmi note 4 global edition, but I want smaller size phone. Headphone jack is not important for me.
I can get Xiaomi for about 436 $ and Huawei p10 for 500 $
I don't know what to buy.
check gsmarena for comparison hardware-wise. but i would get the p10 since they are nicer with kernel sources and its a better looking phone imo. i have the mi6 now...
consider the complain between these 2, P10 is better.
Ps. i have Mi6 , not so bad but not feel like top phone
Did anyone of you used P10 ? I'm little scared only for battery life, because miui is nicely optimised for battery consumption.

Huawei recently released their source for kernel.
So roms should be on their way!
https://www.xda-developers.com/kernel-sources-released-for-the-huawei-mate-9-and-huawei-p10/
While we havent heard anything from Xiaomi and it has been about 6months since the release of the mi 6
Huawei released the kernel sources 4 months ago, still not an single aosp/linage rom...
Way better on the Mi6 even without the kernel sources.
Looking back at the time frame of previous kernel sources drops: we should expect an release in October.

all depends on the dev support, just look at honor 8 and 9.
Mi6 is better. I had P9 and huawei release kernel sources and what? One dev make lineage os which works worser than the worst custom rom on mi5. But EMUI is ok, like miui.
Had P10,overheating,bad battery life due to old CPU as well as GPU performance & throttling make Mi6 a clear winner here. Also there was no oleophobic coating and u risk getting a model with anciennt memory speeds(it's a lottery,i ended up with slow one).

Still, kirin phones don't have much dev love and popularity around developers as Snapdragon does. Xiaomi mi 6 will have by far better and more roms than any huawei phone.
The Honor 9 might be another option, since it's slightly cheaper than the P10, depending on where you are.
I have the Mi6 and love it. It's the best phone I've owned. It has the fastest SD processor, a great display, great sound, a great camera, fast charging, and a notification LED.
Since I was curious, I recently purchased a OnePlus 5. Even using the Google camera app, the OP5's photos weren't as good as the Mi6's. The Mi6's colours were far more natural and true to life, especially the skin tones and colours on trees. The OP5 felt huge, too.
The Honor 9 (and probably the P10) seems very similar to the Mi6, but it seems slightly inferior in every category. If you compare GSM Arena's reviews, the Honor's processor is slightly slower, battery charging takes longer, the battery is smaller, there's less RAM in the cheapest variant, there's no Gorilla Glass and the 1080P videos are inferior. MIUI seems to receive more updates than EMUI, too.
Yeah MIUI got more updates. Just one problem i have with MIUI, expandable notifications on lockscreen and in list, you can do it with two fingers but that's. Hope they will implement that in the future updates.

Battery is laughable comparing to Mi6
Too many people not knowing what they re talking about are writing in this topic.
mi6 is a clear winner
P10 camera might be a little bit better... Might.
But nothing beats the Mi 6 with battery. Nothing.

Is Mi Max 1 worth buying in 2018? or is there any better alternatives?

Hello everyone, I need your opinion and help
TLDR I need phone with big screen and good performance, is Mi Max 1 still worth buying in 2018?
Long Story
I need device with big screen and good performance vs price. After long searching, going back and forth in tablet or phablet
I found that Mi Max is one of the best contender, with old but strong SD 650 and humongous 6.5" screen.
There's Redmi Note 5 Pro with 5.99" screen, better performance but I already have Mi 6 with 5.2" display, the display difference isn't that much, so I think there's no point having Note 5 Pro.
on the other hand, Mi Max 2 is good but weak, and Mi Max 3 is beast but too expensive.
On the good side, Mi Max is big, cheap, and good performance and rich XDA community. There's less to no bug on each new developed ROMs, right? as Zenfone 2 user I'm jelly haha :silly:
On the down side, it's 2yrs old already, still use micro USB.
I find it difficult to find another device that can beat this proposition but I'm open to any new suggestions.
I'm thinking of buying the 3/32 variant around $124
I'm gonna use this phone for multimedia, little bit of gaming (PUBG, Vainglory etc), and probably as car HUD.
So, what do you think? is it still worth it? Is there any other alternatives?
Thanks in advance
A.f.a.I.c. there are no better alternatives yet. First of all, screen size and ratio is most important for me. All phablets have that ugly notch these days and no dedicated hardware buttons. I've been looking at the Mi Max 3, but found out it has no coloured LED notification light (how stupid is that?). Huawei Honor Note 10 may be an option, but don't like the EMUI shell.
What's wrong with micro USB? You could use one of these if you don't like the micro USB connector, a lot cheaper than buying a new phone
https://www.ebay.com/itm/RAXFLY-Mic...1b:m:m7hqOpyZpTqJRBibCHhC9_A&var=601537300954
The Mi Max 3 has much better camera but the CPU is not very fast, does not have NFC (AGAIN) and no LED colour notifications. I wouldn't but the 3/32, get a deal for the 652 ones or wait till something better comes our way.
maybe LG V20 ?
I just bought a LG V20 on aliexpress because it s shock proof, has removable battery, better camera and better performance (but smaller screen) than mi max 1.
I believe there ll be promotions next week on aliexpress and you ll be able to find them for less than 140E (so more expensive than the mi max 1 ... but maybe you ll be able to find them cheaper elsewhere ... I am in France and they have not be sold here so it was kind of logical for me to import it ... )

I don't trust LG. And it's not that big....
I would not buy the snapdragon 650 variant, maybe the one with 652 (3gb/64gb or 4gb/128gb). But just save up for the mi max 3. It is only $250, similar to the new price of the mi max 1.

I have the 650 variant, and it is a bit slow and youtube 2x speed freezes at 720p60fps or higher.
If your S650 device is having issues with 720p YouTube content then it is purely your private issue. I own Mi Max 1 3/32 for 2 years now and never had a lag/spike during watching any videos. This goes for YouTube, Twitch and many other services.
And now to the topic:
After 2 years I'm still able to get 3-4 days up with 9h sot (it used to be 10h+). Device is fast. Heck, I'm using miui 10 right now with CPU governor set to powersafe and battery optimization turned on - no lags at all. Modded gcam improves photos a lot. If you can get this phone really cheap then go for it. If you do not need such phone right now then do the same thing I'll do - wait until November sales (11.11 if I'm not mistaken) - most phones get their prices cut down a bit by then - and buy a Mi Max 3 (6.9 inches with same phone size will be great for media consumption). I used to change phones every 4-6 months. Mi Max is first phone I own for such a long time because there is simply no competition for this price.
No problems here with youtube or Twitch. I have the 652 variant, though.

I agreed, no better alternatives yet for this such price vs display vs performance, and ofc notches be gone lol.
I have no prob with colorless LED Notification tho'
Honor Note 10 price rn is $510 for 4/64, that's crazy. Also I don't want to do the same mistake with Huawei/Kirin like I did with Asus/Intel. I would love to have stable custom ROM for once lol.
MicroUSB is just me being nitpicky hahaha, I don't have anything against MicroUSB tho, since most of my gadget still use it.
I also looking for that particular acc but Xiaomi Mi6 isn't compatible with magnetic adapter..meh..too bad (CMIIW)

I have the 650 variant, and it is a bit slow and youtube 2x speed freezes at 720p60fps or higher.

How about the SD 652 compability for custom ROMs? and also I read SD 652 consume battery lot more and over heat more than SD 650
here's the article https://www.techcenturion.com/snapdragon-625-vs-650-vs-652
And what about normal speed? does it struggle too at 60fps?
$250 is twice the budget I have right now for Max1 lol

Beta MIUI 10? Even my Mi6 didn't get official stable MIUI 10 yet lol
3-3days up? sounds promising hahaha
I'm thinking of putting Ressurection Remix in Mi Max tho' and I'd like to try gcam mod
The price rn still stable at $124
True, Max 3 have nearly identical physical size of Max 1. But the price is still outrageous (but it's a new new device ofc), I checked it's around $270 in here, price cut won't do them much justice.
I might not need such device urgently but I'm itching to buy one lol

Yea, MIUI 10 from Xiaomi.eu - most of Xiaomi phones got their builds there, you might wanna check it out. I had to switch back again to RR 5.8.5 due to WiFi drain for me on MIUI 10. $124 is a pretty good price for Mi Max. I'd go for it. Or just like I said before - wait until 11.11 (but I wouldn't expect for price to drop that much on Mi Max 1). After doing more research I think I'm gonna wait for some other phone to show up for upgrade, so looks like 1 more year with Mi Max for me . Mi Max 3 is not really an upgrade if you take a look on that closely (battery feels even worse). Who knows, maybe Xiaomi sub-brand POCOPHONE will show up with something interesing (F1 already looks promissing, but there is no IR blaster for remote nor NFC for payments, so already too much to give up).

A3 Let's talk

Here are the specs
https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_a3-9769.php
What is your opinion, is this a good or bad choice ?
That moment when you record with selfie camera 1080p but your display can show only 720p
Do you think there will be A3 Pro ?
In my opinion Mi A3 is a step backwards.
MI A2 has a better display and a better SOC despite the fact that it's an year older. In-display fingerprint scanner and wide lens are good additions but simply it's not enough. Having an HD+ display in 2019 in a mid-range smartphone is crazy. Snapdragon 665 is worse compared to SD 660 in terms of Gpu performance. Very disappointed by Xiaomi.
Totally dissapointed. I will keep my Mi A2 with 6/128 gb.
I'm also disappointed with the A3 specs the cc9 on which it's based gets the 710 processor and 6gb ram so why is the A3 getting less? I'm still running an A1 which I've loved for 2years was hoping this would be an easy choice.
I'm also trying out Havoc on a mi pad 4 might end up with a Chinese market phone that havoc supports......
I have an A1 and was hoping that A3 would be a no brainer for me. I guess i'll stick with it for a while now... 720p screen is a no-go.
Let's wait and see if there will be any "Pro" version of this phone.. Even A2 Lite has a full hd screen.
Mi A1 still a decent device for me. It doesn't really look like an upgrade

Best smartphone under 300 PPI
I don't really care about the capacity, S660 is still good for me, but I've expected NFC on Mi A3 for Google Pay... :crying::crying:

They put the stupid infrared port instead of a NFC sensor. It cost nothing. Also 720p display.
It is a 2012 phone for 250 euros!
What about battery life? It must be interesting. 720p amoled display + 4000mah battery + energy-saver chipset must be good for longer battery life. A cant found any battery life test, and sot time info so far...

This. I'd take one if it has good battery optimization (*cough* mi8 w/ miui 10). I'll take better battery life + super amoled over higher res screen anyday.
Unless your usage revolves around an app/site that doesn't support zooming (ie. gmail), 720 vs 1080p has no noticeable difference.
source: current phones: mi8, a1, axon 7 mini, mi4c, nexus 4.

Yes its enabled, i saw one video where was checked Manual Camera Compatibilty app
Im thinking about ordering, but i need infos about battery life, but nothing was found yet
Ordered one (64GB)today on Gearvita for 237USD = 212€ with shipping to Germany. If somebody is interested, you get this price only with coupon code "ROMiA364G" wich you enter during checkout. Original price is much higher. I come from A2 and hope for much better Camera (perheps with Goggle Camera if API2 really enabled) and better battery life...
since on GSMarena Mi A3 and Mi CC9e compare almost equal, I wonder if the 128/6 GB CC9e would be able to run Mi A3 Android One and Mi A3 firmware. I also wonder if Mi A3 and Mi CC9e are A/B devices regardless of internal storage size.
@Dior DNA
Like previous generations, the MIUI counterpart (in this case, Mi CC9e) has legacy A-only partitioning scheme whereas the Android One variant has A/B one. Frankenbuilding should be possible, but complete conversion is a complicated job.
i think it's a marketing stunt - and if it's not, i feel real sorry for them. it's still a lousy move on their part.... as soon as they've pushed a first batch of converted cc9e-s (aka mi a3) they will magically release a mi a3 pro based on the standard cc9 which will be an awesome phone. it fixes everything bad in the mi a3. (screen, nfc better soc) while still keeping everything that's nice about the third gen android one. amoled, big battery.
even if they dont release it, if the cc9 gets good developer support (considering the sources are already out i hope it will) it's gonna be my next go to phone.
L.E. they only reason i see that they didnt use the cc9 is politics. with those specs it would directly compete with the pixel 3a at half the price.

Question F3 - Worth it?

I read about some problems like:
- Proximity sensor
- Some ads in the rom
and some other bugs and that is disappointed after all...
Xiaomi MIUI software is not good about all? I think they not going to fix the proximity sensor.
Or that is better buying some OnePlus device?
Xiaomi.EUI is better than Global and debloated?
proximity sensor is definitely an issue when you're in a call the screen does not lock properly, anything software related can be fixed only time will tell if it's a good device, for me i always buy phones around $400 so this one was my go to choice

But you have devices like OnePlus 9R or maybe some Realme or something..
OP has better software
I have some previous device at my home and with same issue after ton of updates so.. Xiaomi doesnt fixed the problems..
oneplus 9R is $100 more, as i said software don't count, i never use stock roms anyway, i only lock boot loader when i'm selling or giving the phone away other wise it's the build quality that counts, i had oneplus 8t for a few months and i was disappointed because i thought buying a more expensive phone would make a difference and 9r is the same i skipt all previous generations of poco and i still think f3 is worth every penny

if you're buying a phone and want clean software out of the box, Pixel phones are ur best bet for a budget, they are the closest manufacturer to apple when if comes to reliability, all other brands have buggy software at best, oxygen os might look like stock aosp but it's very poorly designed.

Depends, if you plan to play heavy game (genshin impact for example), it's a perfect "budget" phone. But if playing isn't your primary goal, there are better globally phone.
Proximity sesnsor has been fixed to a degree (I don't notice a problem on my unit at all), of course there will be more firmware updates to iron out the rest of the minor kinks.
I don't game or use the camera too much, it was between this phone and the Redmi Note 10 Pro (I didn't want an olrder device from Xiaomi simply because one more year worth of updates is well worth the trade off).
For me, the price difference would have been minor if I got the 8/128GB version of the Redmi Note 10 Pro instead of the 8/256GB Poco F3.
So I went with the better looking, better built, better performing, better features (120Hz AMOLED, Dolby and X-Axis Haptics) and IMHO the better value phone (Xiaomi.EU China rom versus Xiaomi.EU Global rom on the Redmi Note 10 Pro).

Well, redmi note 10 pro has 120hz amoled and Dolby. The camera is better, if he isn't planning to game at all, I would go for the redmi note 10 pro, the built quality is better, the camera is superior, but the chipset is too weak to really play.

My bads Redmi Note 10 Pro indeed has 120Hz but no Dolby.
He needs to decide what's important to him, performance or camera or spend more for both.

How much I need to spend more for the both things?
Not take pictures a lot but yeah play games.
I read that the proximity sensor is hardware problem.
Maybe OnePlus 9R for better software and without bugs?
I don't get all the fuzz about the proximity sensor. It's "weird" in that it combines accelerometer and camera, but it does work, unless you make phone calls while lying down on the bed. I've had no issues with it whatsoever.
OnePlus 9R is a great alternative, the main camera support OIS and it has the same chipset as the Poco F3.
And yes with more optimized and arguably better software, it's pretty affordable too.
Perhaps if you wait a bit more after the summer, we might see a Mi 11T and Galaxy S21 FE.

So maybe 9R worth it? yeah that is 100$ more but you got better software..
But if you got the 9R.. you can added 100$ more and got the regular Oneplus 9... so..
Write down your reason to buy new phone.
Write your need in priority order, we are not you, we don't know your situation. Worth or not is subjective.
Camera, SoC, local price of phone, warranty, system update, community, reason to buy phone, where you live, budget limit ... etc.
Remember, no compare no despair. Get use to phone you buy.
Suggest you buy all, Poco F3 + OnePlus 9R + OnePlus 9. Worth? Yes worth, 2 for me and you keep one. Worth for me.

You have the option of stopping some adds, uncheck all kinds of miui optimization, referrence, suggestion, feedback, also some option ull find in developer mode. I have done it in mu Poco F1, didnt find a single add in 2years of use. I havent bought the F3 yet but hopefully its the same principle. You can remove bloatware via xiaomi fastboot tool. U dont need to unlock the bootloader.
It seems mostly that you're searching reasons to not get the Poco F3 instead of asking if is worth or not
In your case, get a OnePlus 9R/9 or a Pixel phone and you will be fine, their software is easily a ton better that Xiaomi MIUI and they shouldn't have the issues you mentioned either (Proximity sensor and ads)
I agree, he's nitpicking at the flaws of phone instead of thinking of what he needs in a phone and comparing it with the competition.
There's no perfect phone out there regardless of money and just for record, "I don't like Apple products".
