Please need help to unbrick LG G3 D851 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Howdy folks. I'm posting this on behalf of another user. I originally saw his post in an Android Q&A subforum and I suggested he post here. Instead he posted in the T-Mobile G3 Q&A section which probably has less eyes than this one. Due to D850 markings he sees there's also the possibility of a frankenphone. Tag him in your replies if you have any ideas. Thanks.

HELLO
I used to have LG D851 which was working fine on kitkat , I decided to upgrade to marshmallow using lg flash tool but the phone bricked during the operation and now I can't even turn the phone on , no charging or boot or anything.
the only thing I can do is plug it to my computer and the phone detect as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
I tried to flash boot and stuff through Boarddiag but failed.. I think my phone is refurbished because it used to run on LG D851 10R but when I check the motherboard it appears D850 and I tried many flash apps but nothing work
PLEASE HELP ME TO FIX THIS PHONE I'am broke and I have no money to buy new phone

I have a D852 as well. How did you hard brick it, if I can ask?
I did a quick search and it doesn't look too promising. Quite a few posts of people asking for help with a similar problem and no fixes.
There was one post I saw in the G2 section that I'll link for you and also the link to the Rogers img files. Not sure if you are with Rogers, but only found those image files.
I can't help you any further than that and not sure if it will work so don't blame me for anything you do to your phone. Best to send it back to LG for repair than attempt dive into uncharted waters. If you do find a fix though, post the results to share with others so we can all learn. Best of luck

Lg d858 qualcomm test point location

a week ago i got an LG D858 bricked, cannot flash using lg flash tool(s), because the model was null, i think the owner was trying to convert it to LG D851 or 850.
anyway the D858 has a different layout board than the D855 which is clearly described on this forum.
after many tries i decided to test where the qualcomm test point is.
the good news for me that i found it without too many tries.
and here is the picture.
one more thing I have to say, I tried many times with d855 on my running well PC I never succeeded but when i used a clean running windows on my laptop it was like charm, I remember I saw someone said something about that and I did not take it seriously. but if you fail and fail and fail, try it.
finally I used this tot for the willcracker boardDiag v2.99a ( LGD858AT-00-V10a-CMT-CN-JUL-12-2014-32G+0.tot)
originally was 16G and i renamed it to 32G to fit my D858 32GB bricked device.
good luck

Thanks for your message. But the main board of D858HK is different from that of D855. The metal cover over the emmc chip cannot be opened. Hence not know what test point for shorting.
Edit: after comparison between image of D8585HK and D858 in first post, can anyone please advise how to remove the metal cover over the emmc chip of D858HK?

You can use fingernails to take off metal cover of emmc chip, I have same model d858HK, metal cover is not solid with emmc chip, just use little force to push it up of chip. Be aware that sim 2 card slot is connected with metal cover also so you need do lift it together.....but before that disconnect sim card 2 flat cable from motherboard also with your fingers.
You can use small tools if you have it.
cheers
Thanks much your message. Yesterday I delivered it to LG service centre. Anyway I learn it very much.
This worked for me, trick is to short testpoint then connect usb to PC, then I flashed stock F400K (yes Korean) tot using BoardDiagv2.99 once device is in Qualcomm 9008 mode. Now I booted into download mode and Flash stock MM with LGUP tool.

When plugged-in appears '' Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 ''
I used the TOT stock(G3 851 T-Mobile) and it does not work, it returns to '' Qualcomm '' mode. I used a TOT stock of the G3 D850 and it worked, but I do not have a network

Not sure if was Android or LG but seems that after Upgrade to Android 6 a new feature called Antirollback was implemented on the devices preventing to Downgrade to old versions.

Thanks. I already tried this, it did not work.
@Deanff3, being in Qualcomm mode at least means you still have a chance. When I bricked my D851 I couldn't even get that via software means. Phone identified itself as Google instead of LG. Had to "short circuit" the phone so I could get Qualcomm mode to continue on.
Have you checked the following thread? Used this guide and I was back in service after weeks of almost giving up.

BTW, searching around I see the "device" you posted. It shows up all over in old posts. Some will be almost exact except swap D851 for D855. All V10z-GLOBAL. Yet no actual info about it. Just users that got bricked. In this post it was due to trying to downgrade.

Even from a firmware repository I don't think these V10z-GLOBAL things are available. Could be wrong but I can't find.

Thank you. I believe that being a ''frankstein'' it was a custom firmware, that's why we did not find it on the internet. Unbrick using the D850, please do not need to set, then emergency. : Eek:

Please forgive me for not giving you the help you're looking for. I really wish I knew more about this kind of stuff, then maybe I'd be able to unbrick my own phone as well.
Anyhow, may I point out that you can pickup used working LG G3 D851's for under $50 with Marshmallow very likely installed already from places like eBay, which isn't a bad deal in my opinion.
If I figure out how to unbrick my G3 I will let you know.
Doing some searching, I've found a couple threads on unbricking the LG G3 D851. I haven't tried any yet but probably will some time soon. These threads are:

I just found a guy on eBay based in California who will flash the stock rom for $5 USA, I'll let you know how it goes for me. But maybe try googling JTAG service. I couldn't get my phone unbricked by myself, so hopefully this service works.
@oxiiid, I saw your post awhile back but didn't have any info to give. My original G3 got bricked a few years back and was out of commission for months. Then one of the ROM devs pointed me to the articles I needed to unbrick it. Phone was good to go until it officially died last year.
I just found a little write-up that I did for another user. Maybe it can be of some help.
The links posted by IsaacZachary are definitely worth checking out. I really like the G3 and am on my third one. Even though it's risky his suggestion to just get another one should be considered. I got a like-new one from Amazon that literally was like new. My daily driver.
Anyhind, attached is the steps I used to unbrick my D851.
Oh bummer, app won't let me attach the text file so here's a link...

Thanks @marcdw !
By the way @oxiiid , I found out that the $5 JTAG services on eBay aren't $5. In the fine print you have to pay an extra $30 once they fix the device. So with about $5 shipping there, the whole JTAG price ends up at about $40 including shipping. In comparison I got my LG G3 D851 for $45 on eBay with free shipping.

[help] QFIL files for LG G4 F500L (Korean)

Hey guys, as the title itself suggests I have a lg g4 in the Korean version F500L that after I installed a European stock rom of android 6.0 the brickou phone, so far so good since I knew the problem was in the firmware because it still showed that screen when removing the battery, the problem is that I installed an eMMC file (if I'm not mistaken this is what the file is called) from lg g4 h815 with QFIL, and from then on the phone died and stopped to show that screen when I took the battery, I did some tutorial here from the forum where I was able to install a corresponding rom of my F500L, and after that the phone makes noise and lights the LEDs but shows nothing on the screen, so I wanted wondering if anyone could help me by posting somewhere for me to download the QFIL file of the right version that is on his board which is the F500L so I can fix my cell phone.
F500l QFIL
I need this for mt bricked f500l. No download mode please link. Thank you.

Before you screw things up even more, suggest you refer to this thread: [GUIDE][9008][EDL|QDL][QUALCOMM ONLY] Unbrick via external sdcard (no QFIL!) and ask the author of the thread steadfasterX for some help - reference the OP (original first post by the author) and refer to the paragraph titled, Support / IRC Channel as you will get the best direct help there to solve your mess, if it is even possible now. He knows more about the LG G4 and the problems you are facing than anyone else in the LG G4 forums. You may ultimately be facing replacing the motherboard but that is for steadfasterX to determine.
