Initially Netflix worked Well with HD streaming on my view 20. But then couple of days back when I was scrolling through the app section in settings I mistakenly uninstalled Netflix provider app. It was around 5mb. After that I am unable to stream Netflix in HD. Is there any way to fix the problem? I cross verified in DRM info app and the device still supports widewine L1 license
I wish there was some fix/ update for that. My View 20 never showed HD badges on Netflix even though some users claim it works for them. The same with Now TV, Amazon Video or BBC iPlayer - neither supports HD videos which is a shame because of this nice big display ;/

Is anyone else having issues with Hulu and Netflix freezing. I would be watching Hulu and the video will freeze and the audio will continue to play. Then after several seconds the video will catch up. I am running 100mb internet speed so I know its not my connection. The Prime videos run perfect but Hulu and Netflix have issues. I contacted Hulu and they couldn't fix anything. I have done 2 factory resets trying to fix this. Anyone else have this problem?
Do you have Comcast by any change? They love to slow down netflix connections. Can you check if you have the same issue on other platforms?
Actually yes I am... Neither of my Fire Tv's (both rooted running 51.1.0.2) will stream Hulu or Netflix, but internet is working on them. I have OTA's blocked on my Fire TV. Thinking of just updating it. Thoughts? Suggestions?
When I first rooted mine, I was having issues with Hulu. Once I uprooted it, it started working again. Try unrroting one of the and see if any changes.

This Fixed It For Me
I finally read somewhere that you can change the display settings for the Fire TV from 1080P to 720P. Now that I have done that I have watched 3 movies and 4 episodes on both Netflix and Hulu without any issues Hopefully if you are having any issues this will fix it for you.
Where'd you read that? If it makes Netflix request the lower-res streams that could definitely have an effect.
My TVs aren't 1080p anyway.
E: Nevermind, found it here:

Move netflix and hulu apps to the sd card (install an sd card if you don't have one). Solved the problem for me.
May I ask someone to upload FireTV's Netflix APK?
Netflix is available in Germany, but they did not release the official app yet and the phone/tablet app can only be used with a touchscreen.
Thanks!
I found an upload:
Apps from FireTV
Bloomberg TV
Crackle
Hulu Plus
iHeartRadio
Netflix
Pandora
Showtime Anytime
TuneIn Radio
Vevo
Vimeo
ESPN

//edit: Unfortunately this does not work as I hoped it would. There is some kind of DRM if you sideload an original FireTV app. It will check if you have bought the app (even if it's for free) from amazon.com. Bummer...
You won't be able to sideload the FireTV Netflix app...it's performing a ton of checks that will fail in your case.
Try the regular Android one.
Have you tried purchasing http://www.amazon.de/Netflix-Inc/dp/B005ZXWMUS then sideloading the Official FireTV APK ?
It's kind of strange. I have a FTV in the Netherlands and the (guess US) Netflix app, which was one there
by default (though I downloaded it from the cloud) works ok. When I pause a movie on my AppleTV, the
one on the FTV knows where I paused. Playback is ok, including DD+ streaming to my receiver.
Did you try to change the language or do these German (or UK) FTVs come with a country specific
content provider selection ?
I had the same problem with the wwe network app.
I solved it by side loading and adding a us adress on my amazon account.
Then purchase the wwe network app trough the amazon.com site.
And now it passes the check on the fireTV and voila.
Should work for the netflix app.
So I just noticed that my chromecast option in you tube, chrome browser, Netflix, etc no longer appears for me to cast the video to my TV. The chromecast app itself is still there though... any ideas?

Did you happen to disable any apps? Either through the application manager or block them through adb from the guide in the other sections?
I had the caller name ID app disabled. Could that be causing it? I re-enabled it and still no luck
Are you able to open the Chromecast app and does it find your Chromecast? If the Chromecast app does not find it, it may be more of an issue with your Chromecast losing connection to your wireless network.
If Chromecast does not open, uninstall and reinstall the app from the Play Store.
If it still doesn't work after that, report back and we'll look deeper.
Yes, the app finds my chromecast and I can connect to it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the chromecast app with no luck.
The problem I am having is the cast icon is not appearing in my other apps like Netflix and you tube, etc.
Might take a look here; specifically post 83 and 84, however the entire page is regarding a disappearing chromecast icon.
Also, here.
Why don't you just mirror the phone to the tv. That what I do then I run whatever app I want on phone while mirroring on tv.
Then run YouTube or Netflix on phone and it plays on tv.
Same thing happened to me today. I couldn't get the icon on the Avia app. It does however show up when I go to Youtube. Weird.

Don't you lose the second screen experience by doing that since you're basically just mirroring what's on your phone to the TV? One of the best things about Chromecast is that you cast the video to your TV, then you can use your phone as a second screen, like adding Youtube videos to a queue (a playlist of sorts).
It don't bother me not like I'm in a rush to see next video. Just another option till issue is resolved.
Anybody have an older version of Netflix or HBOGO that is still functional? Or other tricks/hacks?
I sideloaded from the google play store Netflix and HBOGO and there must be some detection built in that disables the stream to chromecast icon on amazon fire phones (can't imagine why, oh yeah maybe it's because they have a competing hdmi streaming stick product)
I've read on other support forums that people have tried the same build netflix .apk on regular android devices and the chromecast streaming works fine, but is disabled when the same .apk is loaded on the amazon fire phone. Also, prior to around April 2014 it seems chromecast features DID work in Netflix/HBOgo apps on the fire phone. Which definitely smells like dirty pool to me.
thanks in advance...
Even though the phone is widevine l1 certified I cannot play HD videos on my device (whereas my friend who has the same device can play netflix HD without any problem. I really want to know if anyone else has the same problem.
