hey guys, so i have a 64GBs Oneplus 5T and i rooted my phone 1 year ago with magisk using fastboot And TWRP. i used to get OTA updates and i was able to update my phone always. when i recieve an update i would remove TWRP , flash back the stock recovery and remove the root, update my phone then get them back. and this method worked many times.
right now i cant do this anymore. when i download the OTA update and it finishes the reboot the upgrade button doesnt work anymore. tried aswell to update it manually using local update the local update button doesnt work. tried putting the zip file to the internal storage and flasing it with the stock recovery from internal storage , it doesnt work aswell it doesnt even browse my phone .. tried flashing the ota zip files with TWRP it gives me "updater process ended with error 7"
right now phone works perfectelly fine, i have access to stock recovery and TWRP aswell. BUT iam unable to update my phone anymore.. any advices?

hi, without knowing your device-status, i recommend updating TWRP & dont forget 'disabling' MAGISK inkl modules before flashing (possibility of bootloop)!!
OREO - twrp-3.2.2-x_blu_spark_v8.83_treble-op5_op5t - flashing PIE with this TWRP will end up in an "compatibility error" [you have to remove compatibility.zip inside the OTA]
PIE - twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.91_treble-op5_op5t
my steps are: download OTA > go to MagiskManager -- 'restore images' > reboot into TWRP -- flash OTA.zip (wipe C/D)+Magisk18.1+[Kernerl] > reboot -- updated and MagiskModules are enabled

I am using the LS980 on GSM every thing was fine i got an OTA (190MB) when i rebooted to install ,twrp was there and every time i reboot it boots to recovery how to boot back to system?
never accept an ota update with a custom recovery, thats just asking for trouble. What your going to need to do is reflash the rom you had on there. (may have to sideload it if its not on your internal memory in the phone), otherwise you will have to tot back and sim unlock your phone again
Hi all, I have just recently purchased a new OnePlus 3 from one of the distributors listed under OnePlus's website. I've been waiting for the 3.2.1 OTA update for a while and its finally in my region. However after it finishes downloading and I press install, the phone reboots and after a while it would appear a screen which says "Installation Failed" with nothing else but a Reboot button. Can anyone shed any light on this potential problem or is it isolated to just my device? Is it possible for me to completely reinstall OxygenOS on the phone again? (wipe the phone and reinstall android + oxygen's). Also when I bought the device and first booted it, I noticed that there was some apps already installed( apart from stock google ones). These looked like malware to me and it doesn't allow me to uninstall them(from app drawer or from settings), is there anyway i can uninstall them as well?
Thanks in advance
I see no one replied to this topic, sadly. I am experiencing exact the same issue. Currenty I am on OxygenOS 3.1.3. When I go to system updates it says OxygenOS 3.2.6 is ready to download. I hit download, it downloads, reboots but then it says the update failed and I can only reboot.
Anyone knows a solution? Would be nice if I could update my phone
if your bootloader is locked and you dont want to unlock it, then you can download the full rom from oneplus's official website and sideload through command prompt. instructions are available there on their website.
If your bootloader is unlocked and you have latest twrp, just use the below link to download the full rom and flash it via twrp.
if you want to do a clean install with twrp go to wipe the select everything and wipe. this will delete everything on your phone including the os. remain in twrp and connect your phone to your pc and copy paste the rom in twrp folder in your phone and flash it.

My oneplus 3, 3.2.8 ota will not update and fails. Device was rooted but is now unrooted w/ stock 3.2.7 w/ twrp recovery. I also flashed back stock recovery and still the ota fails to install. Any idea how to fix this or why it is happening? Bootloader is unlocked as well.

Try using moded twrp from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-3-5-4-cb-breaking-t3482572
Hello,
I have a question about the now oos 3.2.8 update for the one plus 3. A few rooted users reported that they recive the full zip file (1.3 gb) as ota.
In theory it would be great to get this as root user so you can just go and flash it with twrp. But I never heard anything like that before so how are you supposed to install it and where is the file on the device in order to flash it with twrp?
Basically what happens is you'll get the ota notification for the delta zip. You try and install that and it'll of course fail to install then it'll boot back up and tell you "root detected downloading full zip" or something along those lines and then it'll download the whole zip and it'll install fine you'll lose root and TWRP may or may not be overwritten I've had it happen sometimes but not all the time.
you install it by just hitting the install button on the system update ui and it'll run openrecoveryscript to make twrp or the stock recovery flash it.
Hey all, recently did a system update on my OnePlus 3. When I rebooted it, it launched the TWRP recovery. I have no idea what it's for but it won't let me boot back to android (system).
I tried everything, but I can't.. Any advice?

Did you update an OTA while having twrp as your recovery?
If yes, this is the cause of the soft brick.
You should update only full zips in twrp.
OTA are to be updated only if you have stock recovery.
To get back to your system, download the "full zip" of whichever version catches your fancy, transfer to your mobile and install from twrp.

Hi, version of what exactly? New OTA? Because I did quite a few things.. Back up, factory reset, and yes I also updated an OTA.. You think that's the mistake I did?
You need the file with the FULL system, not the lil 150 MB update zip. We talk about the 1+ GB variant. If you do otherwise you will have that loop you can oonly break by flashing the official recovery as fix. Then it will boot fine after once booting into recovery.

I assume you have TWRP installed.
You would have had a OOS rom installed which had got updated over the air from an older version to newer version.
The update would have gone smoothly if you were on stock recovery.
Having TWRP has broken the update cycle and hence your phone has been soft bricked. So yes, updating OTA with TWRP caused the problem.
To clear this, you need to download the full version zip . OTA zips will be small (350mb, 90mb etc.). Full version zips will be bigger in size (1.1gb, 1.2 gb etc.). Version here refers to the OOS version (the latest is 4.1)
Once you have the full version zip , you can reflash stock recovery and from stock recovery you can flash the full version zip to get stock OOS.
If you want to have a custom rom installed, you can install the custom rom and gapps if required from TWRP itself.

Try to install full OOS 4.1 zip from TWRP as you are getting access to TWRP. For transferring file you can use ADB or just use a pendrive with OTG cable & TWRP will detect it & then you can flash the full zip from Pen drive.
If so what version of Magisk, TRWP, etc did you use and was it successful or any snags along the way?
I plan on manually flashing the OTA when I get home tonight, just curious if any others have had success or failures.
I just flashed the full image (not OTA) without issues. Initially flashed Magisk v20.3 and then used MM to update to v20.4. Finally, used EX Kernel Manger to download / flash latest kernel.
I flashed the OTA, and installed Magisk 20.3, everything went smoothly
My updating procedure is flashing update image without -w then sideloading twrp & sideload flash kernel & magisk, but i have changed my laptop, idk if its something to be done on the laptop or in the phone, as i flashed april update but now when sideload flashing in twrp the pc wont send file to phone it just keeps blank & wont flash zip

I find that the USB setting gets reset on reboot. I always have to tap to change the option again.
