Nexus 9/14.1 Update Mystery - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Im running Android app "LOS Changelog" and have noticed updates for the N9/wifi 14.1 are still coming even after LOS dropped the N9/wifi.
If LOS has dropped N9/wifi why am I still seeing updates being rolled out?
Thanks,
Nylo
PS: Why is the Galaxy S5 still being supported, but the S7 was dropped?

[Q] Tab S 4.4.4 update

Hi guys, Samsung are rolling out Android 4.4.4 to their mobile devices. But I have not seen any reports of that update for our Tab S or even the Tab Pro. Any news on this?
And what specific changes did Samsung add to Touch-wiz in this update (to the devices it's been released on).
Thanks
A new Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is hitting the phone to solve problems and also to prepare it for the upcoming Voice over LTE technology.
The Android Kitkat updates have been hitting the phones of major carriers but the last several either caused new bugs or didn’t solve all of them, prompting the 4.4.4.
“One of the devices that’s in the midst of an Android 4.4.4 KitKat update push is the Samsung Galaxy S5. Just about a week ago, the Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update hit the Verizon Galaxy S5. The update was a bit of a surprise given how slow Verizon typically is to Android updates. The update’s change log was never publicized though there’s chatter about it fixing a Bluetooth issue. Today though, Verizon is rolling out a bunch larger Android 4.4.4 KitKat build,” according to Gotta Be Mobile.
The new update includes fixing the problem of an incorrect number of unread emails on the notification screen, and audio of the Bluetooth headset, and a camera shutters sound issue.
More tracking features have also been added to the S-Health, including Weight, Sleep, Stress, and Coach.
The update also includes tech that prepares the device for the upcoming VoLTE technology, which enables calls to sound better and clearer while having users talk on the phone while being able to use the Internet at the same time.
While Verizon’s S5 is the first model to get the 4.4.4., the other models are expected to receive it soon.
Meanwhile, some variants of the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Tab 4 have been getting the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware recently.
The latest Google Android build is Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but that is only coming out for the very latest Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy Note 4–and the Galaxy S5–at present.
In the United States, Sprint are working on releasing the Android 4.4.4 KitKat for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5, while T-Mobile could be rolling out the update for the Galaxy S4.
Some United Kingdom carriers and Optus in Australia could also be making the update available for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 LTE-A.
Samsung could eventually release the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to its other phones, but at present, Samsung users will have to stick with a slightly older Android build.

You're not even serious LOL. the Tab S had only been out 3 months. Samsung has been known to update their devices up to 2 years out from release.

True that but after 12 months passes for a device I wouldn't hold my breath....

This is their flagship device. I'm very confident we'll see the L Preview and their next iteration of the "L", after that.

Agreed. Looking forward to it.
That was a nice joke
My guess also is that Samsung will skip directly to L for the Tab S. They don't do frequent updates, that's true. So why would they bother with a relatively insignificant interim update?

[Q] Is this it for software updates to the 8.4?

I bought a Tab Pro 8.4 on Black Friday and I haven't received a single OS update since. I'm on 4.4.2 and I actually like my tablet a lot and everything runs well aside from some occasional touchscreen over-sensitivity. Still, I'd at least like to see a 4.4.4 update before they mothball it. Has there been any official word about an upcoming update? I know I can get more recent firmware versions by flashing a ROM but I don't care for CM and I don't want to break the multi-window feature or the Samsung features that sync with my Samsung Smart TV.
Actually, I've got mine rooted and tweaked with Xposed Framework modules so it's just the way I like it. I'm not sure I would install an update when it came out.
There is an update for the 8.4 WiFi only T320 version just released but its only an update to the current 4.4.2, don't know about other 8.4 PRO versions though.
Don't expect this TAB to get 5.0.

Samsung takes a while for updates... I've been waiting months for 5.0 on my tab S. And it's a flagship device!

Agree with that they are slow but they only really do updates in the first 12 - 14 months after that its just minor things never a full rom, my tab was February 2104 so I am really not expecting it to ever get 5.0, the TAB S was released in the summer time so much more likely to get it, its all just hope really.
This extract from techradar says
Samsung doesn't seem great at updating its tablets either. There's a good chance recent slates like its Note Pro and Tab S ranges and even the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 will get Android Lollipop, but anything older or low end is probably not going to happen.
And looking here when you scroll down to the Samsung section there isn't much relating to TABS either

LineageOS and the VZW Note 4

So i just looked at all the officially supported phones for lineage OS since CM is shutting down , and they have all the carrier variants for the note 4 (Sprint, ATT.. etc.. ) but not our 910V. That seems to be a common occurrence with our note 4 . its like the black sheep of the note 4 family . So why is it so hard to support our phone?

N910V only got bootloader unlocked recently... Maybe that's why? AFAIK, there's no official maintainer for the Verizon variant yet. @hsbadr had his unofficial builds (for CM), but he has stopped development and gone on to work with the Emotion ROM team.

Where do you see this list? Can anyone comment as to why I always had so many problems while on CM13? I seemed to have always found something wrong with my phone on various "stable" builds, whereas some other ROMS I've tried seem to be actually stable in comparison. I can't remember what issues I'd had offhand but it seems like I was always posting in the appropriate thread with problems. Both Nseven and MODestRom ROMs have run more smoothly than CM13, I never tried CM14.1 since CM13 left a bad taste in my mouth. Probably my most favorite ROM on my VZW Note 4 was the Note5port, but that was on 5.1.1.

CM 14.1 was very stable for me. On EmotionOS Beta 1 right now. Even more stable than CM 14.1. Give it a try, I think you will like the stable AOSP feel.
What drawbacks are there with EmotionOS on this phone? Besides AOSP instead of TW

Best ROM?

I just got a used Note 4 from Note 2 (running CM12). I really do not like Samsung's stock ROMs. What is a good stable ROM? Is Lineage any good? EmotionOS? Debloat version of stock? suggestions?

I've been on Emotroid 6.0.1 for the past year with very few hiccups but I started looking for a new rom tonight as well.
EmotionOS is pretty much dead. Forums reveal the OP is retired from the N4 but work pseudo continues on through the Verizon wireless build.. Sounds sketchy to me as the sprint variant is no longer supported.
Lineage appears to be the rom Emotroid is built on, that said expect fewer customization's. It's brand new, but the activity on the forum looks promising so it's won my vote and I've got it flashing now.
Lineage is developed by the same guy/team who did CM.

Lineage OS for G920P?

So ever since I got the S6 I've been hoping that there would be an AOSP rom for it. I noticed that some people mentioned that they had LOS running on their Note 5s. Knowing that the Note 5 has the same CPU as the S6 I looked to see if there was LOS for the s6. Sure enough there is. But I cannot find any builds for the G920p. Do you think that there is any chance that we will be seeing LOS for the G920p?
