Yes was aware of that thanks anyway.. Did your update fail?
I Have looked at the log and it looks like the build.prop that TWRP loads is for 4.1.2 and its Dhackers CM10 Prop file or am I wrong?
if anyone could Get P3Droids app to capture the ROM so I could try that
also would love to know if apacheo had any luck with his update cause as far as I know we have done the same things as to get JB running on our Ms
Any other suggestions much appreciated
Thanks
Yeah I managed to get the update on my M.
Had to flash back to Telstra stock ICS though, then the OTA worked properly. Had to use stock recovery too, TWRP wouldn't flash it.
Was a ***** to get it going but I got there in the end.
i have done the fastboot restore to stock ICS how did you get the stock recovery back on Apache? I have tried several times and no dice!
See my PM - you can do it with TWRP, just have to edit the updater-script to remove the asserts.

How did you edit the updater-script with TWRP? :S
p3toolbox doesn't seem to be working with telstra's jb. I've been trying for days to do the xml backup. usually it says the sd card is not mounted or it's write protected.
sometimes it does it's thing but the backup folder is always empty.
I managed to "install" ota with twrp, failed right at the end (at the "update partitions" stage) but everything seems to be working fine, no FCs, been using for the last week with absolutely 0 issues)
in the updater script (from meta-inf/google/android) I've deleted the first line (with the mount, don't forget to mount system in twrp before hitting install) + the next 2 asserts (to stop checking build.prop)
hope that helps.
if anyone needs the ota file, just ask

Do you mind uploading your ota file Dan?
I tried editing my updater-script like you described but got a "Status 6" error. :S
Thank you
after the update fails, in twrp, you can go in Advanced->Copy Log to SD, look for a recovery.log in the root of your sd card to see exactly what the problem is

Forgot to mention: use notepad++ to edit the update script.
Notepad will save things with windows line endings (\r\n) and Android will not like those.

I will bring it to P3Droid's attention that the XML backup seems to be broken on Telstra JB and see if he has any insight into the issue.
Edit: check this thread where he responded about another issue with similar symptoms that is resolved by reinstalling busybox from the market.
That should fix the mount error with the sdcard.

Non English languages support in Aussie Razr M
Hi,
Could anyone from Australia confirm whether the Aussie version of the Razr M supports other languages like french, fpanish, etc in JB...?
I'm looking forward to buying one and I need both european languages on top of english.
Thanks in advance,

the funny thing is, it seems to install correctly, but after the reboot there is no magisk manager, and no root functionality.
What i tried:
* Dirty and Clean flashed every beta and stable build.
* Tried the last 4 magisk releases, last version 15.3
* Supersu, wich works every time
* TWRP 3.2.1 blu spark 8.61
I deleted everything except /data/media/0/*
Also, a log file from a magisk install after a clean flash:
Code:
Installing zip file '/sdcard/Backup/Magisk-v15.3(1531).zip'
Checking for Digest file...
Skipping Digest check: no Digest file found
I:Update binary zip
I:Zip does not contain SELinux file_contexts file in its root.

try installing the4 manager from the playstore. Ever since Google added this stupid encryption there have been issues on encrypted devices. Thankfully not many run encrypted so it doesnt com up often.
hm..., the app is not (anymore) in my localized playstore. I can only sideload it, but i already tried that. Same result
Also, isn't every recent Android device encrypted by default? I mean, i have changed the default_password, but that's it

Yes but many disable the encryption and leave their devices unencrypted. Hell it's the first thing I do to all my devices.
I would post this in the magisk thread and see what he says.
Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>

I have the same problem. It freezes on the TWRP splash screen.
I'm running the latest Syberia Project ROM (syberia_dipper-v2.1-20190113-1557-OFFICIAL) and I flashed from fastboot.

Was on EU.MIUI 9.1.24 then restored a previous backup of Havoc and the installed the new RR
It freezes even if I load it with fastboot boot twrp 3.2.3-0-dipper.img.
I checked MD5 sum and it is the same as that shown on the androidfilehost web page.
I don't understand what is the issue.
P.S.:
If it could be useful my Mi8 is 6/128Gb CN version with MIUI 10.2.2.0 global stabile and Magisk v18.
I also flashed disable no-verity ForceEncrypt to allow O.S. to boot

I also flashed disable no-verity ForceEncrypt to allow O.S. to boot

Forceencrypt is no more needed, i need to check a bit, seems there is a bug for someone

I have the same problem. It freezes on the TWRP splash screen.
I'm running the latest Syberia Project ROM (syberia_dipper-v2.1-20190113-1557-OFFICIAL) and I flashed from fastboot.
I don't know if this logcat is helpful...?

Ok, can you share also a full dmesg? do you know how to make it?
Maybe can you also share a full logcat? you can copy it on pastebin
EDIT: no more needed, can i ask you which twrp you are using actually?
PROBLEM:
Unable to install any PIE ROM by flashing with TWRP. Any flashing attempt of a PIE ROM will be terminated with the error 7 and the Log message the ROM failed to decrompress. OTA updates works, and flashing Oreo ROMs works.
WHAT I TRIED:
- deleting the assert line from updater script
- several different TWRP recoveries, including Orange Fox and official TWRP
- checking "use rm-rf" in TWRP
- decompressing the ROM with 7zip works always
I am at the end of my creativity. Has anyone an idea what else I can try?

Every PIE ROM that I download via my PC and then copy over to my mobile does produce the above decompression problem. Only PIE, not Oreo.
Every PIE ROM that I download via my mobiles download (browser) function produces the same problem.
Every PIE ROM I download with my mobile and with MIXplorer decompresses and installs.
Sounds strange? yep.
can you try different recovery?
twrp-3.2.3-5-whyred (unofficial) is the latest.
also, format DATA, then flash (this will delete everything so i hope you have taken backup)

YasuHamed thanks for trying to help, but I did try different TWRP.
It seems not the TWRP. For some reason my phone does not like ROMs that were downloaded with a browser. But I am fine now, as mentioned in the 2. post.
My Gmail and Google apps keep crashing when I open them. This is a log of my Gmail crashing ... Can anyone shed light on what may be the culprit. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Seems like you're being locked out because of root and safety net. There's an avc message in there. There should be a Magisk module that handles that. If you already have it, and it's enabled, then rerun the logs but filter for errors this time. Right now your logs are only showing warnings, which doesn't fully explain the problem. I think the module for that is Magisk Hide Props.
Installed magisk module passed on both as shown. Here's a long log of Gmail failing to open.

The font appears to be from a custom ROM. Are you running a GSI? Kinda looks like AOSiP. I'm checking out the logs now.

No. I'm getting error 2 in twrp when I try and install any system.img in recovery. This is new. I hadn't messed with gsi in a few days till now. First gsi that wouldn't install that used to but never booted was Q preview. Think it has anything to do with that?
Sent from my jeter using XDA Labs
Now I can restore a gsi fine but won't flash one. Fails every time. Error 2. Wierd...

Want me to grab a recovery log? Of failed flash?
Gmail and Google search apps are the only apps that won't open. If they do they only open for a few seconds then they close as if I hit my back key.
Edit added: And this issue doesn't happen on a restore nandroid gsi. The Gmail and Google app only close on their own on stock pie.

And now my my boost app is doing same thing. It attempts to open then closes immediately.

Android Q will never flash on our device unless someone ports 64bit. Google is dropping 32bit entirely. That's normal. It shouldn't install without a 64bit twrp, which we don't have. I'm working on it actually. All GSIs must be arm32 A only.
The logs are saying Nova launcher has a conflict with Gmail. They're fighting each other to draw on the screen. Have you tried switching to the stock launcher, and then opening Gmail?

Does twrp say "No OS installed" ? Because that's normal. It always says that. Reboot anyways, it'll work. I just flashed the exact same build and it booted up without any issues. It took a few min to boot, but that's a HavokOS problem, not a twrp problem.

That's not my twrp. Mine are both green. Use mine and you won't have any problems. Use my 16gb version even if your device is the 32gb variant.

I was on your twrp until about an hour ago. I've formatted my phone swapped my sandisk sdcard for my Samsung Evo card formatted it, did a fresh backup, downloaded HAVOC again extracted it and I'm gonna install now. I'll get logs. Again I appreciate your help!!! ?

I believe the gsi not flashing was something with my sdcard.
I wiped internal storage, data, system, cache, delvik cache, formatted data, swapped SanDisk for my Samsung Evo sdcard formatted it to portable storage and gsi installed fine. :cyclops:
Now to see if Gmail issue still exists.... I bet issues are seperate but I hope not. Gmail and Google crashed only occur on stock pie and not gsi... Ugh. Let me see and I'll post another log of Gmail and Google app closing soon as I attempt to open them.
Note: I've already done the whole wipe data on app, force stop, reboot and all on these apps and didn't fix the issue.
