For those who have the phone, did it slow down? - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am curious to know if the phone slowed down after several months.
Please tell us:
1- if you phone is the Chinese or the global version.
2- time of purchase.
3- did it slow down or not.
Thanks

Bought my mate 20X L29 (global) 3 month ago and no, its not slowing down.

1- European variant (C432)
2- around Xmas 2018
3- No, not at all. Can't say I've noticed any slowdown on my previous Mate 9 either. Having said that, the 20 X is snappier.

Not at all, even mine mate 9 became faster as time goes by.
The Mate 20 is fast fast fast

My L29 hasn't slowed down one bit since I bought it at the end of November. The only Huawei phone that ever slowed down for me was my Mediapad X2 after about three years.

Hahaha great post. Not a single bit of slow down . Coming from a Galaxy Lag 9, it's a breath of fresh air. They give Android a bad name.

My friend has a pixel phone and it slowed down. He wants to buy this phone as I recommend it to him since he wanted a large phone. I don't want him to have the same bad experience with slowing down.
My phone didn't slow down, but I wanted to make sure others have the same experience as I me.

this is great news, I'm going to buy one and was wondering the same thing.

8/256 with 64 nm card. received mine around 11/1/18. Have roughly 200gb of movies and apps on it. No studder or lag what so ever . Performance mode is unnecessary . I have never factory reset.

I've only had mine for about a month so not enough time to come to concrete conclusions however, I have owned the following which have all lagged like crazy after a few months: Samsung's (s3, n4, s8), Panasonic cm1, pixel 2 xl
Surprisingly the only android phones that I didn't experience lag or very little was the original Xiaomi mi mix and this one (so far). The speed feels really similar to when I first got the mix. And honestly, so far these are the only two android phones I've had that competes to some degree with iphones in terms of speed and reliability. I kept going back to iPhones everytime I tried an android but the mix was the first to convince me that android can work properly. Now the mate 20x feels much like an upgraded version of that. Surprisingly, it's the Chinese phones that seem to not build up lag after a certain period of time.

Good to hear that.
Thanks for the reply

Mate20x global version.
Been about 11 months.
At the 9 month mark I began getting periods of very bad intermittent lag, affecting all apps, occuring zero to few times per day, lasting about an hour or so. Reboots appeared to clear them temporarily.
After enduring for a week, I did the clear cache in recovery mode, to no avail, and tried other things, and then finally did factory reset.
After the factory reset, it seemed like the lag was gone, then it returned after about one month.
Not sure what to do.
It is intermittent and unpredictable. I would not be able to reproduce it for Huawei service center staff to see.

Pixel 2 xl or mate 10 pro?

About 100 bucks difference
I currently have a mate 10 pro that has a defective battery I am about to return (battery needs to be charged twice a day on a light use) .
But lost between ordering another or go for the pixel 2 xl?
I know huawei has a bad record of updating their phones.
They already released some updates but still no sign of them on ota.
I've had both and pixel 2 XL is much better imo.
The problem that i had with EMUI is app compatibility. When I had the Mate 9 hulu didn't work and google locations wouldn't update. It looks like the Hulu issue was resolved but if you browse the xda mate 10 forums many people are having issues with widgets. I also think the menu interface is still too cluttered. The updates are far and few
I had a mate 10 pro, hardware wise its a better phone in my opinion, nicer shape, I just really didn't like the software if they made a stock android version and got rid of the iOS wannabe software they would be on to a winner...
No persistent notifications on the lockscreen for EMUI was the reason I went back to Pixel phones.

If fast/regular/guaranteed updates are important to you, Pixel is the only game in town.
It's also a question of where you want your private data to go, Shanghai or Mountain View?

There both good. The pixel seems better. But think the mate 10 pro still had some software tweaks to make the battery life better. I never run out of battery by bed time with the pixel. Lowest I get is maybe 30 percent with heavy usage. Could easily last couple days maybe bit more with light usage
With the recent 6P battery/bootloop of death issue (I had to return mine), not sure I'd even want to look at Huawei so soon.

The 5X made by LG also has bootloop issues. I think there was something else there, like the SoC that year had issues, or maybe coincidence that both Huawei and LG had manufacturing issues.
Where are the $299 Nexus 4 phones from a few years ago ... It really sucks to spend this much on a phone these days and have all sorts of issues battery, bootloop, screen, ... I suppose you buy these phones with a credit card that extends the warranty by another 2 years, so on a Pixel 2 you get 2 years from Google + another 2 years from a good credit card and you're covered without buying an extended warranty plan.
So yeah to the OP, don't forget that the Pixel 2 has 2 yrs warranty from Google.

I ordered one and received it today from amazon
Dunno why I decided to search on amazon again and found the phone 130 bucks cheaper
I asked them if they can price match they said no
So I ordered the cheaper one and gonna return the one I received
It was 760 instead of 889
Got both and use both constantly. Pixel 2 Xl as my private phone, Mate 10 Pro as my work one.
The Huawei "feels" better in hand to me. EMUI works well for me. I also like the camera on the Huawei, though the Pixels is better for point and shoot. As for the interface I really don't see the native one is a problem in any way, I simply downloaded the pixel 2 launcher and I see hardly any difference in real day to day use. The AOD isn't that useful as it only shows notifications from Huawei apps, you need to download third party AOD apps to work (Always On AMOLED).
The Pixel is very nice too and I like extras it has. Plain Google android, an Always On Display that actually works, the Shazam-like notifications, the way it is all just integrated.
I think if I was going to have a to choose it would be the Pixel but it wouldn't be a clear cut decision.
As many various tier Huawei phones I have tested & used, I would never buy any phone made by them. Their CPU always feels inferior to the latest Snapdragon, and multitasking is still something that hasn't been solved by them: try running 3 apps and switching between them, and the phone will lag like hell. I was also baffled when I tried to unlock the Mate 10 Pro, and it took 4 seconds to get to the home screen and draw all the icons... I'm sure Huawei makes decent phones and they have their audience, but they never offered anything that would appeal to me... And the camera is a joke for this price, just check this video:
Also, due to my work I've had the "luck" to get to know their ways of working a bit better than most people ever will (no, I never worked for Huawei), and let me tell you that adhering to standards is not their strong suit (not that Apple or Samsung are better at that department either). The Samsung-like spamming of the market with 10-15 devices with nearly identical capabilities is just one example of how the company wants to gain big market share (basically flood the market at a low cost entry point and ramp up the costs down the road to the point where you came out with a significant deficit...) without providing anything but worse quality (terms of code quality, for example).
As you can tell I pretty much despise the whole brand & can't be really objective in the question, but these are personal experiences that made me decide never-ever to buy anything made by Huawei (also, the fact that when I faced them with the reality that their flagship can't run 3 of my apps smoothly without getting sluggish they cut almost all ties with me...). That $100 difference will buy you not just a superb phone, but 2 years warranty, the (current) best camera solution a phone offers out of the box, timely updates for 3 years, a clutter- and bloatware-free Android experience, unlimited Photos storage for original image uploads for 3 years (from account activation on the phone), I even got the free Google Music promotion although I've been a subscriber for years now, just to name a few.

Quoted for the absolute truth. I was trying to make this same decision myself last year, coming from a Mate 9. All in all I did like the Mate 9, it did occasionally have very big lag moments, such as when launching Flipboard, but otherwise it really didn't feel any different from a Snapdragon to me. The camera is one of the weak points, as it has some serious issues with over exposing, and from reading reviews of the Mate 10, I'm not sure they got it right on the 10 either. But my biggest gripe by far would have to be the complete lack of any updates, especially security updates. I have a U.S. Mate 9, and it's still on a security update from June 2017. That plus reviews of the Mate 10 camera not being that great pushed me to get the Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel's camera on full auto is truly in a different league from the Mate 9's, even if you tried to use the Mate 9's manual modes...you can safely believe the hype about the Pixel 2's camera.

Dxo ranks mate 10 pro right after pixel 2
Alot of websites commended the mate 10s camera
So i got to tinker with the pixel 2 for a bit and I miss some features from Huawei
1. Dark mode.
2. I got used to the navigation dock on the mate 10 it made the screen look fuller and nicer to look at lol, another thing in the pixel I can't swap the navigation bar buttons ?
3. Just find it weird that when I click the recent button I have to scroll up to clear all the apps
Other than that the phone is bad ass
The camera is amazing and no bloatware
Hopefully Google would enable these things

Anyone Noticed Slowdowns on Their Phone?

Only reason I'm asking is because I am curious after watching MKBHD complain about the phone slowing down. In my opinion, I don't feel like there has been any problems. ?

We are flashers, so will not keep phone without wiping for more than couple of months.. may be long term users might have slow down issues...
A few points:
1. Everything is relative.
Maybe the One Plus 6 is just so fast that the Pixel 2 XL feels slow?
I doubt it, but I also carry an Iphone 7 and that seems extremely slow compared to my Pixel 2 XL.
2. Software mods
MKHBD doesn't do much modding afaik, so he is also limited to the default software most of the time leaving often much to be desired.
One Plus uses a lot of time on software optimization also.
All said and done, I still think to say Pixel 2 XL is laggy or slow is borderline ridiculous at the moment.
I think he means it stutters alot more than the OnePlus 6, which makes sense. The OnePlus has a more powerful chip and much more ram.
I've only noticed dropped frames when I was using the Android p beta 2 , I could see the slowdowns, but with the latest update it has been nothing but butter.
There is some slow down.
Well to be honest my pixel 2xl hasn't slowed down completely but i do see stutters and lags while opening up camera and while switching between apps while multitasking. Im on stock 8.1 oreo and the only reason I'm not rooting it yet is coz I'm one of the unfortunate people who are stuck with bootloader locked Verizon pixel 2xls. And from my past experiences custom roms are more snappier than the stock ones.
I have a hard time believing that the P2XL stutters and drops more frames than the OP6. Looking at XDA's op6 performance and gaming review, it is clear that it has more jank and frame drops compared to the pixel. One thing that the oneplus 6 does outclass the pixel in is animation speed and all around snappiness. The way I have always seen it is oneplus devices are faster, but the pixel and pixel 2 are smoother. Imo, I'd prefer to have the smoothest phone than the fastest phone. That being said, the one slow down that I see on a daily basis is a delay between after I tap the home button and before the app close animation begins. Essentially there is a delay when closing apps. This does not happen in every app, usually apps that are either poorly optimized (snapchat) or apps that have a lot going on (chrome). Chrome and snapchat are the main apps that have this problem of taking longer than usual to close.
I thought some of the issues with Android Phone DP4 were that it introduced stutters and lag. At least, that's how it's been with mine. Another thing, though I don't think it's exclusive to the Pixel 2 is that whenever I put it to charge, or take it off Airplane Mode, for a minute or so, the phone becomes extremely laggy and unresponsive.
Mine is running great, smoother than my s9 plus
mine is speedy
only other phone rival it is when i put aosp on my s9+
I feel like there has been hiccups more often the first few months with the phone but I am on DP5. I plan on doing a factory restore when Android P stable gets released which is currently rumored to be August 20th. I usually do it at my one year with a phone anyway.

Sort of yes,... But then again isn't it expected now that the Pixel 3 is around the corner?
We people complain about anything when ever the chance happen.. its just great phone few lagging doesn't bother. To be honest mine is just perfect

Well it's less than a year old and costs a lot of money so I don't expect it to slow down just yet. ??
Overall I don't feel my phone slowed down, but I agree with MKDHD that apps are reload frequently.

I didn't expect it either. Came from Samsung, and this was quite a surprise to me too!
But then again, Apple does it... and now they're a company worth 1 Trillion US Dollars.
It's not that hard to guess where the others will look for inspiration now.
I just feel oneplus bought mkbhd out.. it honestly sounded like a sponsored rant. With oneplus now tweeting about that video and mkbhd 'verifying' it. Just seems too staged
Honestly if he had only mentioned about the app reload which everyone will agree who uses more apps then definitely no doubt there is a difference between 4gb and 6gb ram, but he was using android P beta so you cannot be judging it but when he said in another device it got slow running oreo then i really can't belive it and the thing he was complaining about animation lol OP animations are different and the speed as well
This would be the same case with IPhone x getting slow because of the animation
The first ever video of Mkbhd i disliked
Sent from my Google Pixel 2 XL using XDA Labs
haven't experienced any slowdown tbh
Camera app definitely stutters more!!

2 years later and I keep coming back...this phone is STILL amazing.

I have a bad habit of going through phones like nobodies business and over the years I have owned what most would call too many. In fact the first question my colleagues usually ask me when we have team meetings etc is what phone do you have now? I have had a few favs all the way back to the first Sony CMZ100 to the Xperia Z-Ultra (had a few stares with that one).
I have never gone back to a phone over two years old on multiple occasions. I have bought and sold my Mate 20x twice and this is my third. I just cannot understand why this thing keeps calling me back.
Maybe it’s the beaut 7.2" flat screen (I must admit the Note 10+ almost had me but sold it as I didn’t like the curve).
Perhaps it’s the never fails fingerprint reader on the back that just always seems to work (that in screen one on the Note 10+ seemed to fail me 8 out of ten times).
Could it be the never ending battery life of the Mate 20X which is just fantastic.
Even now, two years later I still find myself picking this phone up and just looking at it and thinking how amazing it is.
Huawei hit it out of the park with this phone and I wonder if we will ever see another Mate..X to replace it...maybe one day we will.

Very well said. I am the same. Get asked by colleagues nd regular clients what phone I have quiet regulary as I change mine very often but have managed to keep my Mate 20X 5G and had the non 5g before for a short period. I must say I still miss my Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra for its powerful dual speaker that to date no phone can match (5g Mate20x only has 1 speaker and the earpiece speaker as a 2nd loudspeaker).
Overall all is good but given the actual phone size of my previously owned Asus ZF3U, I think Huawei could easily offer a larger 7.9"/8.4" display on next version with integrated stylus, independent dualsim+memory card expansion (better dual sim management options inside the notification menu as options/shortcuts) better customisable launcher like the Asus Launcher and finally at least dual but preferably quad speaker setup. Then this phone would be the ultimate productivity and entertainment device.
My phone came with Android 9 and now updated to Android 10, I am loving it even more. I enjoy how apps can be scaled with system wide dpi changes and find that I don't need my laptop for some productivity tasks, which is what these devices should offer given their size.
I really hope we can get Automatic Call Recording working again on the International EVR-N29 5g model as Android 10 took that apk workaround away.
Just imagine having a dual display accessory of the same size for this phone like the LG V60-maybe with the stylus integrated into it, then nothing would match this device on the market.
It's the same here, in 2018 I had 5 phones. Until 2018 I had the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra, this huge phone I still miss sometimes (still have it).
But since this piece of art, I can't find any other phone which can match it... At all.
I still looks at Sammy S20 Ultra, but some things like the size, no Snapdragon in my county etc.
So I keep my M20X L29 636, with a smile on my face.

Funny you mention that. I was very close to buying the mate 20X. But as soon as news of the new Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Pro with 7.1 inch screen was released I soon forgot about any idea of buying it.
Right now the specs of the BS3 Pro destroy the 20X big time. I can't wait for it to officially come out. When it does I'll judge it against the 20X. If reviews on it meet my expectations I'll quickly forget about any chance of buying the 20X. If not I will buy the 20X. But to be perfectly honest, I think it will demolish the 20X.
Its time that a new big 7 inch screen phone take over as an upgrade. The 20X is definitely getting a bit old now.

I agree! I almost sold this phone and thank God I didn't!, Yeah so there's new phone that are big but better specs. Who the fook cares! People so concerned about specs and the latest processor, etc. I'm more interested in my own every day usage. So the hottest newest 7 inch phone is faster and has more ram/ storage or a "better" camera. So what! Most people will not notice or need this ****e in their day to day usage. Most reviewers are complaining about stuff that really doesn't matter if you actually take the time to use it. I love this phone!

Correct. I can't wait for the Black Shark 3 Pro to come out also. Definitely a big upgrade from the 20X, big time! It also has wireless charging for its 7.1 inch screen. It'll be the new king of big phones from now on.
Wireless charging??? Like you said, it takes forever. to charge. I have no NEED for wireless charging. People are so lazy they can't use a cable?? That's a reason to upgrade a fantastic phone?? You want a bigger screen?? 8.4 inch phone? The 7.1 inch phone is already a bit heavy in the pocket. SMH. Most people don't think for themselves and allow reviewers, specs and technology trends to dictate what's good for them.
Also it's ridiculous when reviewers complain about no headphone jack. It is clear to me they are just repeating other reviewers say and not actually using the device for any substantial amount of time. Yeah it would be nice if every tech still had headphone jacks. But since they don't and most include an adapter or adapters are a few bucks - who cares. In my day to day usage, the inconvenience of not having a headphone jack (on my other devices) is ZERO.
Most people are too concerned with the latest and greatest tech for their devices rather then thinking for themselves to see what actually matters.

Yes but at least have big proper reason to really upgrade the phone..
Nowadays ppl just doing it because they are being forced or blinded.. Like elcidroyale said..
Who on earth needs crazy camera with unrealistic 100x pointless zoom when nobody goonna even using it? Or nobody normal person orderdinary not even using camera how week is long.??? 5 - 7 photos that's it.. Or when cpu is only like 5% better which you will NEVER ever notice..
And biggest nonsense RAM. Just every one is gimmicked and lured by increasing numbers which not doing anything.. Only longer time of evolving electronic devices will feel the difference or when something isn't working on particular device or support is discontinued..
My laptop from 2015 had its limits as hdmi was outdated and I couldn't run [email protected] on my new 4k tv.. Now new laptops support hdmi 2.0 so I need to buy new laptop. And yes the picture from old tv is a huge difference + amazing HDR brightness- THIS is real upgrade no one year old phone only.. This phone has still another year or two potential..
My brother stil owns Honor 6 Plus and that's quite old I bought him new sony xiperia 10 and he still doesn't want to get rid of honor 6+

Dude, calm down. How do you know wireless charging on the bs3 pro takes forever to charge when it hasn't officialy come out yet? Then you said the phone is 8.4 inch. Its actually 7.1 inch. Where are you getting all your info from??
You need to seriously research a phone before you smack it around with complaints. I can't believe you said the phone was 8.4 inch when its 7.1 inch. I'm baffled.
You need to accept that the "latest and greatest tech" is now here and is pushing the mate 20 x off its throne. This isn't a competition, its just a comparison of one phone that has all the things the 20x lacks. Imagine holding on to a phone for 7 years when all phones have upgraded and have become the latest and greatest. Time for change.

Exactly. The black shark 3 pro is a huge upgrade from the mate 20X. At some point tech gets old and has to be replaced. I give the 20x just 6 months to a year potential. Time to upgrade!
Same story for me. I am on my third. Keep buying one and selling from disappointment with EMUI 9. But now... EMUI 10 has changed everything. I can FINALLY set a system wide DPI that isn't grandpa mode, and it FINALLY has a useful AOD.

Funny you say that, I have noticed drain being higher than stock 9.1 but I figured it was an EMUI 10 thing. Why would higher DPI hurt the battery? More drawing?

Question Experience Performance of the vivo x80 pro and heating issues

I've been wanting to get this phone as my daily driver. I've been wanting something with stellar performance and a top notch camera.
If I do end up getting it, I want to use it for four years.
I'm coming from a oneplus 6, which has handled its fair share of hardcore usage. From heavy multi tasking, to having its hot-spot stay on for 12 hours a day, to heavy gaming, and a phone loaded with data, Its seen it all.
I wanted to know whether the vivo users here think that the x80 pro will be able to take such hardcore usage day in and out for at least 4-5 years?
I am just a little worried before I spend all this money on a brand which I know very little about. Especially because most of the information online seems to be "sponsored" by vivo. I mean the phone does look really promising on paper. But would it be able to take this beating in real life?
I also heard that the vivo x80 pro heats up doing regular things such as watching YouTube videos etc. and that I'd be better off waiting for the vivo x80 pro plus. Would that be a good idea? I was really looking forward to the vivo. So any input would be appreciated.
Hi,
I've the vivo x80 pro (origin is, 512 gb, dim9000) since two weeks, coming from OnePlus 5 which was my hardcore daily driver. After solving some issues with notifications and drawer style I'm very happy with it. Camera, display, charging, customize options, speed is really perfect compared to OnePlus.
Having a videocall over 45 min with turned on selfiecamera the phone gets warm - we had 35 degrees of Celsius yesterday in Germany ... Haven't played any game so far, so no experience with that. I'm getting also used to the missing notification badges on my home display and to its size/weight.
Battery performance improves day by day - after one day normal usage (weekend day: Reddit, YouTube, Spotify, WhatsApp, browsing, taking pictures) more than 50% capacity is left, therefore it would last about 2 days without recharging in my case.
Summary: I'm very happy with the purchase hoping that the x80 pro will last 5 years at least.

Hey, thank you so much for your reply. However, I am in India so I would probably be getting the snapdragon version. The dimensity version is either too expensive or too difficult to get where I live.
I wanted to know the above about the snapdragon version.
Hi
I've the vivo x80 pro (origin is, 512 gb, dim9000) since last week. I have ordered the Snapdragon version but i get the Dim 9000.
My daily driver was a redmi Note 10. The Vivo had some issues which i sorted out last weekend.
It was very warm here in Germany, 38 degrees, and I was busy the whole weekend with my new phone.
A lot has been tried, installed, adjusted and tested, of course the phone has also been charged several times.
This phone hasn't gotten warmer than the Redmi Note 10.
But with the quick charge it gets warm.
I ´am very happy this this phone and the performance an camera is a big step up from the old phone

Depending on scenario there is not that big difference between snap and dim9000 - in my opinion, you will not notice a 2-3% difference in performance, battery life or heat. 2% based on 40 degrees of celsius is 0.8 degrees difference -> your hand will be not able to tell you if the phone is 40.0 or 40.8 degrees hot. Therefore, the difference between snap and dim9000 is really negligible when benchmarking normal day usage.
/edit: I've been watching youtube videos yesterday more than 1.5 hours, the phone was not getting too hot although we had crazy high temperatures in Southern Germany.
Wow, thank you so much for your comprehensive reply.
I will definitely take this into consideration.
However, I would also want input from a snapdragon user just for the peace of mind before I put all this money into purchasing this phone.
Just got the X80 Pro SD8G1 version and already got some nice updates as well as optinal updates(They call it Trial updates, though it acts like Beta).
On the first day, due to all the transferring I've done from mine legendary Mate 40 Pro, it got hot but not scorching hot.
The camera is SuperB as you've heard and seen thought the reviews, it's extremely versatile and the ISP is fast, yet again it did get hot but ever so slightly, nothing to worry about.
Battery is being tested so i don't have a conclusion yet, but it should be solid though probably nothing like iPhone 13 Pro Max or the Mate 20 X(best Android battery life EVER).
Speakers are very good but lacks some bass.
Overall performance are very solid and the charge speed is fast as hell.
Now, battery will get a hit over the year with heavy use and i'm unsure how this will unfold, but judging from my past you should not worry about it.
You'll have a blast with this phone, just wish it was bigger with bigger battery but well...

I am so glad to hear all these positive things about the phone.
However, I can't help but mention a review i was watching online where they used the camera on this phone for a while. Perhaps around 20+ minutes outdoors and it got super hot to the point where it was unable to perform.
Just wanted to see whether you've experienced anything like this using the camera?

So far it's very smooth outside the stock gallery app which lags a bit, but that can be easily replaced.

That happened to me with mine Mate 9 and Galaxy devices, you should minimize the sun reflection on the phone as it heats it up massively, don't forget that black colour sucks heat more than any others.

Question How satisfied are you with your Pixel 6 Pro?

I have to switch from my beloved Google Pixel 3 XL to a new Phone. Since i love the pure Android experience i would love to buy another Pixel Phone 10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254.
So my question is for all those who have bought/used a Pixel 6Pro. How happy are you with the phone?
This is a difficult question to answer simply because everyone uses their phones differently. For me, the Pixel 6 Pro is 'fine'. It does its job. It has a very good camera. There is no lag. I have it rooted so no ads, which is great. Since I've upgraded pretty regularly, going from the 4 to the 5 to the 6 hasn't been any kind of amazing upgrade for me. But since you're coming from a 3, it certainly will feel like a pretty decent upgrade.
The only complaint I have is that it sometimes restarts on its own. Typically at night while it's on the Pixel Stand. I have no idea why. I think it might have to do with overheating? I've been meaning to wipe it and start fresh but that's a royal pain in the butt so I haven't done it yet.
I've been mostly satisfied with mine. I feel that it's not quite as nice an improvement as when I went with my first Google branded device, the Pixel 1 (I came from the LG G3), but my wife and I have been lucky with rarely any issue.
I really happy with Google Pixel 6 Pro. I couldn't write anything negative about it. The Android 13 update fixed all the bugs I knew about.
A13 fixed everything, and it's just ultra smooth and fluid and animations are the smoothest thing ever, camera is actually better than S22U software is top notch, pleasure to use, no jittery lags like those Samsung overheating phones, AI and voice typing is just generations ahead, finger print senser could be better that's all

Do you like random bugs and mobile connection issues along with horrible battery life on stock? Then the Pixel 6 Pro is for you! I used to Love the Pixel Series after the Nexus Series and this one combined with the Tensor chip has gotten Google into a weird area plus with them restricting API and permissions. They advertise open source but the bootloader and Radio are closed source. Developing has been rough with every iteration of Android and now they have actual fuses for the bootloader. What ever happened to I get what I pay for? Not a pixel 7. I've been an Android supporter and Superuser since the dawn of the LG Ally. It's really all about what you need a phone for, The Camera for the Pixel Series are phenomenal but the should never have been released with Kernel and Radio bugs from Day 1.
For my usage, I sold my 6 Pro because of bugs, carrier connection issues, Tensor chip support, etc.
Garbage phone if you actually need to make a phone call. Rest of it is pretty good.
Been very satisfied with mine. Have not really had any of the issues some others have encountered.

Just spend some time perusing the P6 pro section to see if this is the phone for you. If you're not into rooting, there are better alternatives.
If I were you, I probably would wait for the Pixel 7.
This phone is too hot comparing to the Pixel 3 while doing same operations
I love this phone and would 100% get it again. Battery life has been amazing. Buttery smooth animations (iOS has nothing on this). Making calls and receptions have been no better or worse than other phones Ive owned. No bugs or glitches for me. Fingerprint scanner has improved since A13. Maybe I got lucky?

I think every phone after Android 12 does that. P6 Pro, Mi Mix 2 and 1+9 Pro all reboot when I'm sleeping on A12/13.
To answer the thread question:
After having multiple phones from the 888 generation I've settled for the P6 Pro.
- Smoothest ui
- Less is more in terms of os (better than any aosp rom on other phones and their stock roms)
- Best camera for what I do (I do miss manual mode from 1+ and Sony but oh well)
- Longest battery life
- Gaming is on par if you use a cooler but Genshin/Tower of Fantasy will demolish this phone after like 20-30min
It hasn't been bad enough to make me want to get rid of it but the battery life is decidedly average and i have never had a phone get so hot so often.
Yeah its fine phone, does the job, I`m always changing phones trying to find the the phone I can use for long term, and I actually have brand new 6 pro replacement from Google coming today, since my boot-looped and hard brick, I have decided I will just sell the 6 pro replacement, and move to the Sony Xperia 1 IV, I did use Xperia 1 IV global version for few days and loved it, the US version is supposed to be released next week, I was able to find FocusCamera.com to have few in stock already, and willing to sell them before the release date, but the Xepria 1 IV is not cheap compared to the 6 pro, but the Sony has the old android features, like microsd, flat screen, led notification, headphone jack, dedicated camera button, side mounted fingerprint reader in the power button, 120hz screen and with 4k resolution. So if the Xperia 1 IV wasn`t available I would be sticking with the 6 Pro, one thing always drove me nuts is the power button is above the volume buttons, prefer the button below the volume keys, but I have no other issues with the 6 pro.

The only complaint I have is that it sometimes restarts on its own. Typically at night while it's on the Pixel Stand. I have no idea why. I think it might have to do with overheating? I've been meaning to wipe it and start fresh but that's a royal pain in the butt so I haven't done it yet.

I think every phone after Android 12 does that. P6 Pro, Mi Mix 2 and 1+9 Pro all reboot when I'm sleeping on A12/13.

For what it's worth, my Pixel 6 Pro has never rebooted on its own at any time of the day or night, and I'm pretty sure my wife's Pixel 6 Pro hasn't, either. We've had ours since late last October. I'm rooted, she's not.
She probably would've mentioned it to me, since she mentions any problem she does ever have every few months, which is usually solved by rebooting. I think she (and maybe my brother too) is finally used to just trying to reboot manually when they do have any weird quirk before they ask me about it.
It's funny since she's the one who introduced me to the I.T. Crowd. I digress.

I love this phone and would 100% get it again. Battery life has been amazing. Buttery smooth animations (iOS has nothing on this). Making calls and receptions have been no better or worse than other phones Ive owned. No bugs or glitches for me. Fingerprint scanner has improved since A13. Maybe I got lucky?

How long is your battery lasting ?
Personally, very satisfied.
It's the okayest phone I've ever owned. I won't recommend it to anyone though. It's the first phone over ever owned (and I've owned Androids since 2.3, and even Windows Mobile before that) that didn't impress me in some way. Camera seems only ok for me, and lacking certain features. Camera app is harder for me to figure out than others too. They finally fixed one of the most glaring issues in not having the option for Tap Tap to trigger the flashlight (how did they even miss they in the first place). Also it's somewhat buggy, using picture-in-picture causes me problems, especially in Google Maps (you'd think that Google Maps would work fine on a Google made Android phone, but apparently not).
