I need help any ideas or similar experiences?
I flashed a bad renamed tar file that ended up being [email protected] gt i9100 firmware
Now when i go into Odin mode which I still have , I get no USB to PC recognition ?
No yellow com port in Odin?
Even when u plug USB in it just turns on automaticaly and shows gti910 on boot up then goes right intob 3e stock recovery and no button options are compatible with phone and the charging mode is at a standstill with a small circle not moving ,the battery was very very low before this all happened but enough to power up as well.
I've tried 4 USB cords uninstall kies, reinstall kies, tried other Odin versions ,
Tried 2 desktops and a laptop ,thanks to a botched tar file for a i9100 that was named eg30.tar!!
Could it be that USB mounting has been cut internally or not compatible with the device having wrong firmware? What about USB debugging obviously not enabled because the phone won't even boot
My binary count was at 8 when I got phone now its 11 does to many flash attempts affect anything
I think it would flash correct tar if only could get USB to work
If I atleast have Odin am I in luck? Any any similiar experiences or info would help!
I can't return it cause was bought used and sprint knows esn was tied to an alternate line over a month ago

If you did flash an non-Sprint ROM your USB is likely disabled. You can try moving something to an MicroSD card and flashing from recovery, JTAG or take to Sprint. (Flashing from recovery, at least from other posts, will not restore the USB use.) I'll try to find the last post on this, someone else had this recently.
*EDIT* Here's the support for my post:

Oh,thanks for your quick reply.
I can get into download mode, but odin doesn't recognize, the only other screen i get too sdays "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again, but Kies cant connect to it, am i screwed? Please help this all happened from changing my screen density, i cant find anyway too restore, i'm not a noob and am in desperate help, i'm gonna be soo bummed if i brick, but i have a feeling if i can get too download mode, there must be a way too restore it.
BbbYou say no recovery, but you should have at least stock recovery I think. Try holding volume up and power, is you can get in, restore to stock from there.
If doesn't work I would start by reinstalling the drivers or try a different computer.
You'll be fine.
Also you should state you rom, what you did before, rooted, etc

I flashed the newest version of Roman BB's AOKP CM9 Kang and tried to change the density, i went too restore my nandroid and it froze before it finished, I tried odin and the first 2 times it recognized but both froze before the end. im kinda couch surfing so now i'm incredibally screwed without a phone, please help.

Roman bb's most updated AOKP, i changed the screen density and when i went to reboot it bootlooped, so i tried restoring a nandroid wich failed, tryed again, and now i cant get too recovery, i can only get too download mode, so i tried using odin too go back too stock, it failed almost at the end, twice, now i cant get odin to recognize my phone and it wont turn on, the only thing i can do is get too download mode, and too the thing saying use kies recovery, which does nothing because it won't connect. I'm at a total lost, i'm so scared i lost my only source of income, at this point in my life, if i dont have a phone, i dont have work or food or a warm place too sleep. Please anyone with any ideas please help.
I hate to be the one to tell you this but you're probably bricked. The giveaway is if you have problems in Odin at data.img:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504808
Will recommend that if you have further questions to post in that thread.
When going from ICS to anything else you should use ODIN to go back to stock. Anything else and you're risking a brick. More here:

Hope this helps.
One quick question - which phone are you using and which usb cable for odin?
Be sure that using the original usb cable during odin.

I've never heard that one before. What do you think is unique about the stock micro-usb cable?
micro usb cable is not unique. There's standard size of micro usb and pin numbers, etc. But based on the product, it's not fit well each other.
One example is old LG micro usb cable is not going well with Samsung phones.
Of course, I tried this by myself and it always fails. But original micro usb cable which comes together with phone, it never failed.

Yeah now that you mention it I realized my nook color micro usb cable has a longer metal end-piece than my E4GT, and won't connect properly. I thought the length of the metal prong would have also been standardized. Go figure.

This is the problem unless you flashed a gb kernel/recovery first. You should not do anything in ICS recovery.

Its true not all cables are the same, but the funny part is from the beginning of OG Epic days we figured out quick the only thing you should do with the stock cable is charge... its garbage. Maybe the new model is better, havent tried it, but it looked pretty much the same, thin little thing... I use my 4 year old BBerry cable, about as thick as a cat-5... never had an issue. But yeah, try new drivers, cable, diff PC, use a USB that is physically part of the Motherboard of the PC (desktop)... all these things help with the shoddy drivers, etc... you may get lucky...

But you said you did attempt a restore through CWM after the bootloop, correct? If you did and you're having problems you *may* have bricked. Using ODIN is a surefire way to confirm whether you did or not. If you didn't attempt anything through CWM while having CM9 installed then you may not be bricked but are obviously still having issues. As it has been said before - and quite often - CWM at your own risk; ODIN is believed to be the safest option.
Regardless, if you're having problems and the USB cable doesn't fix it I'll still recommend trying to get back to a GB stock ROM by ODIN. At the worst you've lost what you have done since the last backup, since you can restore that from the backup once you get back to GB. With so many bricked phones lately it may be best to err on the side of caution this time...
I've tried everything mentioned, except a different pc, i tried linux, on my pc odin doesntr recognize my phone, , but i just went and plugged a flash fdrive in so now im thinking my computer is having usb problems, so im gonna try another computer, i also made a usb jig to reset the odin counter too take it too sprint but it didnt work... i'm so confused and screwed without my phone. Thank you everyone for trying too help. Any more ides are greatly appreciated! Thanks soo much guys!
ive had this problem before and basically my phone would turn on but no signal sd card didnt work wouldent read in computer but if you cant get it to work and have fifty bucks u can go to mobiletechvideos.com and it will take about mabe 3-4 days mine took a week since i sent on a friday but it costs fifty bucks and the only thing when i came back that wasnt working 100% was the picture gallery. true him if it comes down to it
Well, since you're getting the firmware upgrade error, I'm gonna bet your phone is bricked. That happened to me, I finally took it to the Spring repair center and they couldn't fix it, so they swapped my phone out.

Sprint Epic 4G Touch Appears Bricked
My Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch will no longer connect to my computer (also tried another computer and different usb cable), after a failed attempt to upgrade to ICS 4.0. The phone will not load up now to 'normal' operating mode.
It will only come up to the message:
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I can no longer get into Recovery or Download modes. At least none that work. (See below)
I also built and tried the USB jig solution, which does power on the phone, but it then comes up and says:
FACTORY MODE
PRODUCT NAME" GT-19100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (2 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
Downloading...
Do not turn off target!!
But connecting to my PC still fails. Any ideas?
Dear All,
I have encountered a problem with my note 2 that unfortunately closes a lot of doors for me to fix. I thought about asking you guys and hopefully this has not been asked before. Ok so my problem is that I had rooted phone ages ago and i had SuperSU installed with the root. Later on some official update came out and I let it update. After that I might have lost my root there and then not sure though. When I try to do something in root it won't let me, also it fails when trying to change super user app. What is killing me mostly is that any computer I connect using different cables, won't recognise my phone, as if it was not even connected although it charges normally. At first it was sometimes charging and not, sometimes freezing if connected to the USB. It might be hardware related but I want to try to fix this issue first to be sure. I can't even use Odin since it's not being detected so unrooting and going back to the seller is out of question.
Can anyone help me please? I am thinking of trying custom firmware through sdcard installation but i cant even install CWM and when using official recovery the package is not accepted. (signature issues). There may be some easy workaround I do not know of hence me asking you experienced guys.
Big thanks for reading this and hopefully helping me.
joshua
So you mean odin is not detecting phone in download mode ?
Try connecting the phone and see if adb works but I don't really think it would work. Try another cable. Could be that usb port is damaged.
Try another recovery.

No, Odin is not detecting the phone although it starts charging like normal. I will check adb later tonight when I am on my home pc. I have tried in total 4 different cables same result. I have used 3 different operating systems on different computers, still not detected. Usb port might be damaged but I don't think they will be happy seeing its rooted.(they being the store i bought it from, that is why I have not gone to them yet.
I have a similar issue since 4.1.2 however my phone is recognized by computer and odin in download mode, are you sure you tried it on download mode?

Yes I have tried download mode, that's why this problem is killing me :/ The root access is completely unusable and not working too.
Hi guys, I have a S2 bricked that was turned off until yesterday, when I decided to try to make it come back to life: I actually succeeded (phone was working), simply restoring the stock firmware with Odin, but then when I tried to install the custom recovery, it bricked again. From then on I was never able to recover the phone again, because Odin simply stopped at factoryfs.img or hidden.img every time. I tried to solve the problem several times with several online tutorials, but nothing. Please, someone write me, otherwise I don't know what to do anymore. Thanks in advance.:fingers-crossed:
Lets see if we can revive and keep another Galaxy S2 device going.. Random things to try / consider..
1. Different USB port - maybe a USB 2.0 or a port directly connected to the mainboard that you know is controlled by an Intel chipset.
2. Different USB cable - a quality cable with a better fitting micro usb male end... *** REMOVE any cases ***
3. Different version of ODIN.. maybe an older one from the era of the phone.. My rule of thumb.. try the latest on hand.. for Odin its 3.14.4.. if the latest fails and you're serious at getting something to work.. then the version that matches the era of the device.. so Odin 3.07 etc.
4. Having trouble flashing an ODIN Rom? Try just the recovery TWRP.. and see if you can access zip files etc.. and try a custom ROM just to bring it back alive...
So if you're able to bring it back alive.. suggest using TWRP to backup the device.. before trying anything else further.
