battery drops too quick after setting password , pin, or fingerprint. - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i found it on my 5x with factory img of 8.1 8.0 7.1 and lineage and RR as well. wheni set a pwd or so, system cost 400ma(20% per hour) after screen locked. without pwd it is about 80ma.
My 5Xhas an expanded ram to 3gb and its light sensor and gyro dosent work and decoder chip has some problem.
What could bcause such rapid power drop? or had anyone see it ever?
Thanks.

i havent seen such issues yet, may be its a placebo effect?
btw, howd you get 3 gigs of ram? i want to get it done as well , but i dont know any pro near bangalore, india

[Q] High Temperature detected powering off for protection

Guys, excuse my English.
This week I bought 2 tablets Lg g Pad. One for me and one for my girlfriend
I think that mine is defective because it almost never gets past the test of Antutu. Always inform your tablet which will be shut down because of heat and it turns off automatically. The few times I managed to do the test, it registers 19 to 22mil points.
On the tablet of my girlfriend I can do this test and usually always score reaches 25,000 points, with little variation.
Someone already managed to fix this? I'll have to take it to rma?
Another recurring problem I'm having with my tablet is the message "Unfortunately, bluetooth has stopped" every time I open the TrackID app. Although I have tested bluetooth and is running smoothly.

I believe the overheating gpad should be rma'd or returned to the place of purchase and exchanged. Something is definitely wrong and of the few I have heard had overheating issues I have not heard of anyone fixing them themselves...
There are different CPU bin's out there. You might have one that takes a higher voltage to hit max clocks. As it is I feel the Gpad runs very close to that software shutdown limit in my testing. I can't remember the number off the top of my head but the stock LG kernel thermal shutdown is like 95 or 97, the qualcomm hard shutdown is 120 I think. So it *is* possibly to fix by changing the kernel shutdown limit higher. I don't think that should be necessary though for the owner to do, that tablet should work with all 4 cores at 100% or you aren't getting what you paid for. You can see in your Antutu scores that yours is thermal throttling the CPU speed and STILL exceeding the limit sometimes.
You can use Faux Clock to turn off thermal settings.

I have absolutely same problems. Antutu test become my pad overheated and go to shutdown. I try to run Antutu without heat protection- same problem but shutdown without message on same place. Also I have some extra temperature while using Chrome or Opera and open a lot of bookmarks. Brightness lowering automatically due overheating and come back automatically then device become "normal" temp. I have 4.4.2 Rooted stock firmware. V50020a.
to disable automatic lowering the brightness, use app from the play store called: "LGBrightnessPatcher", NO SPACE.
also can be used to other LG's devices...

Battery status changing up and down at random

Hi, I've got problem with my battery. It sometimes happens, that my battery status drops e.g. from 50% to 10%, after restart it goes to 25, after restart to recovery mode it shows only 9% and after another restart goes to 25. What to do?
I tried to calibrate my battery, delete battery status, flash another rom, but no result.
I tried let my screen on having a photo presentation and I managed to have screen time on about 10 hours. So it seems that battery is OK, but the dropping of status happens and its annoying.
Somebody has a solution?
Thanks a lot.
What do you mean by battery status? Is it the one that is in settings or status bar? Anyway this might be caused by having certain apps on when you open a lot of apps or high usage apps. It could also be when you installed new apps, they could be running without you knowing also. Or it may be some software issue causing that to happen since it seems your battery is OK.
Sigh. I have this problem too - it's been documented on this forum but I forgot which thread.
The source of the problem is that the mis-calibrated fuel chip. Somehow all recent samsung tablets rely on a faulted algorithm (i won't go into the technical aspects of it) to calculate the remaining battery percentage, and the accuracy of such a calculation degrade over time. The only solutions are 1) use a safe pry tool to open the back cover yourself and reconnect the battery - a risky procedure I won't recommend 2) Send it back to samsung and have them fix it.
All qualcomm chip based tabs/phones don't have this problem - it only happens with samsung chipsets.
Thanks a lot for the answer, however, not a good news...
My Tab S 10.5 sent to repair center because of unable to charge my tab after setting it to charge (battery at 7%)...
I was unable to charge... powering charger won't do anything... Could it be related to this problem ?
I got the tab s ehh about 2 weeks from launch and everything works fine. Could it be the new ones?

You win !!!
I don't know... As I can't power on my tab even with power supply I just can suppose that they just plugged my tab to an "automatic robot diagnostic tool" and seen that the Knox fuse was turned 0x1...
This is the only suggestion I can make...

Battery Life issues on MM

After updating to MM from STOCK LP, my battery life has gone way down... by hours. Now, LG and Verizon boast that the MM update will help EXTEND battery life, but it has done quite the opposite for me. I like some of the new features such as WiFi calling, but not at the expense of hours less on battery usage.
I've done a factory reset, and even re-flashed the stock MM KDZ, but my battery still dies quite a bit faster than on LP. 35% of battery usage is the screen, and it is on auto... next at 12% is Google Play Services.
Any ideas on how to boost my battery life?
If nothing works, I'll just flash back to LP and root.... I like MM but not at the expense of my battery life.

Hey, I've got the MM update. I didn't get to test too much with lollipop but here is what I've done to maximize my battery.
1. hard factory reset
2. wiped cache
3. disabled all useless apps like amazon/amazon kindle/amazon music/android pay/audible/cloud/google play books/google play movies & tv/google play music/google play newstand/google+/hangouts/nfl mobile/slacker radio/vz navigator. (your list may vary depending on what you find useful)
4. keep screen brightness at 20% and as low as allowed when in sunlight
5. turned off all GPS
6. Under settings/location/3 dots in top right corner/scanning/ disable wi-fi scanning and bluetooth scanning
7. If you use facebook uninstall it and messenger then go on google chrome and log into facebook there and select get notifications then click the 3 dots in top right corner and click add to home screen while on facebook, it will put a short cut on your phones main screen allowing you to go right to facebook.
8. if you don't have a lot of people sending you MMS messages (picture messages through regular texting) then disable mobile data when you're around wifi.
I just removed facebook and messenger today so I'm still testing the battery now. But yesterday with facebook and messenger I had a total of 3.5 hours of screen on time. Today so far with facebook and messenger gone I'm at 90% battery with a total of 1h screen on time. which is 50% screen.

Thanks for the reply. I've done almost all of these, but I cannot wipe my cache because for whatever reason my phone will not boot into recovery mode. I've dialed all useless apps. I'll try the Facebook thing. I keep my screen brightness low now, although on LP I kept it on auto with no problems. LP also seemed to kill my mobile data while I was on Wi-Fi automatically, this doesn't appear to be the case on MM.

When trying to clear cache are you turning the phone off and then holding down power+volume down until the clear cache screen shows up? That's how I do it. And yeah the LP and MM both kill the data if you don't use the advanced calling. The reason is the G3 was one of that last phones to include dual radio chips. You're lucky that you're on a monthly plan. People like me on a prepaid plan aren't allowed to activate the advanced calling to use data while in a call. It's honestly dumb. My S5 could do it without needing advanced calling. Just one of the few things that irritate me about the G4
1. lack of data while calling
2. can't record video at 60fps unless rooted
3. verizon took away the ability for MM to use MicroSD card as internal storage.

I was able to do it by holding down vol. Up and power. I was trying to do it releasing power for a second, no wonder it didn't work. So I wiped cache. All I heard was about how good the G3 was, so I bought the G4. I really do like the phone, but this MM upgrade isn't working out too well with battery life. And now that it looks like there will be no root for MM, I'd consider selling it, but it's not paid for yet.

I can't vouch for it. But I have heard other peoples MM updates working it'self out over a few days. But I couldn't really say since mine has seemed decent from the start. I only got my phone in the mail a few days ago. First day I had it within 10 minutes of turning it on it updated and then updated again to MM. Then each day I've used it it's had similar battery usage. 76% battery remaining, screen on time is 1h 52m 53%

Looks like you should get around 3.5 to 4 hours of screen on time. And if you're keeping yours on automatic brightness you may be doing better than me. Not to mention I don't even have the facebook or messenger app on my phone like most do.

I can definitely tell a difference between LP and MM with auto brightness, and LP used less percentage of my battery. Facebook and messenger don't use up much battery because I've stopped push notifications, and I'm not that active on Facebook.I guess I'm spoiled because on LP I could go more than a full day on a single charge, and now I get about 8 hours being ultra conservative.
I'm just kind of bummed about the phone in general. I love the hardware, but I'm not at all used to not having root. I was a Samsung fanboy until the S5, which I had 3 of (junk).

From the way everyone talks about lollipop I'd downgrade in an instant if I knew I could be certain I wouldn't bootloop. Since I don't get to use advanced calling there is no reason for me to want to keep MM. Especially if I could root the phone and get 60fps recording as well as customization. I just don't know how to do the KDZ or LGUP thing. I've rooted phones before using odin and also towel root. But now that there are two ways that I understand of going about it being the KDZ and or LGUP I don't know which to use or where to start or how to flash back to stock to upgrade to MM if I don't end up liking the LP. I liked my S5 I just gave it to my mother though because I wanted the G4 for it's night camera mode since it didn't look like samsung was ever going to offer that feature on the S5 being as it still hasn't gotten the MM update.

Ah ok, I don't know how I didn't notice the 11a and 13b parts. Unfortunately after looking into it more I'm afraid I'd mess up my phone. I imagine I could downgrade to LP without a problem. But to accomplish what I want to do I'd then have to gain root which I don't know how to do on this one since the only video I can find of it relates to I think it was 10a. Then I'd have to install flashfire which I don't fully understand and then download the modified camera zip file and flash it using flashfire all just to get 60fps on the g4 which the g2 comes standard with lol. I wish there was one thread that covered it all walking down the list of to go back to LP do this, Followed by to root specifically the LP 13b vs986 do this. To install flashfire do this. To flash the moddified camera do this. That would be a long post. But I think it would be nice or even better a steady walk through video. If I had money to replace the phone I'd try all these things but I spent a pretty penny on this phone just a few days ago to get a good serial number that wasn't prone to the bootloop glitch the G4's had. $400 on ebay. Bought it new with the platic still on it and everthing still sealed. Just to get a S/N that started with 510
My battery life has been terrible since the MM update. I have factory reset twice and it hasn't helped at all. I used to get like 3 hours of screen time and have like 15-20% battery left after being off the charger like 18 hours. The phone generally performs better, but battery life has taken a hit. I haven't tried getting a new battery yet, but I generally alternate batteries daily.
Sent from my VS986 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I've noticed no difference with MM, compared to LP. Rather disappointing, but I've always kept my phone minimal so I guess Doze can't do anything more.

New Stock ROM 20170814 and OTA not working!!

Afternoon Gents,
Elephone have posted another 7.1.1 stock rom for this unit dated the 14.08.17
http://www.elephone.hk/downloads
Fixes?
* This one looks like it fixes the severe battery drain as the unit now correctly powers the screen down when in standby.
* Time for first GPS fix is greatly improved.
* 5th July Android Security Patch.
Basically we're back to the stability of the late 6.0 builds with faster GPS.
Here's the annoying part
I've been in discussions with Elephone via FB and email to their Engineers. They are insistant that this update has been released OTA on Mon 21st, BUT my phone never got it. I've done repeated checks on multiple fibre, VDSL and VPN connections and it either returns no connection or Device up to date I've had to manually flash the scatter file from their website then flash the phone, which obviously completely resets everything.
Hi, on Monday 21, i have receive this update.
Before this, no problem for me with my S7 4/64 on Android 7.1.1...
Now, after update : very big battery drain, and zero notification , exept SMS ( no notification of games, app ....)
So there is a big problem
Have you done a factory reset. I have had similar issues after an OTA, especially with the fingerprint scanner. A full reset fixed it.
Factory reset done , so :
- Battery drain : the same after reset
- Notification : sometimes it work, sometime no ????
- LED notification : OK
- Charging : return of the sound when connect / disconnect charger OK now

Hmmm. Interesting. I have an S7 64/4 and on the latest update:
* Battery drain is significantly reducced. Previously this was caused by the screen not turning off when going into standby leading to rapid battery drain. My screen now goes completely off after 30 seconds and I get about 36-48 hours on a charge.
* LED notification is fixed, although the colours marked in the menu are wrong. I think there are 7 colours in the menu but only 3 work.
* Charging sound functions normally.
Did you use the OTA? What happens when you use the upgrade on the website? I wonder if they may be differennt somehow.

The extra cover you can buy with the window in it works with the Hall sensor in the phone to turn the display to the clock then off. In the May/June firmware, this process wasn't working, the screen always stayed on leading to terrible battery drain

It's not only that the screen is always on but the CPU scheduler for the device is badly optimized.
It won't properly shut down the performance cores or multimedia cores when using phone only for simple stuff like reading web, watching youtube or sms.
Plus when the phone goes to sleep, all cores are on at 1GHz randomly.

Hi! 7T T-mobile version. Is it worth to switch from T-mobile firmware to global?

Hi!
I have bought OnePlus 7T T-mobile locked. After some time of usage I've unlocked it (so I can use every network right now) but my phone still got T-mobile firmware on it. Hence my three question about this phone.
Is it worth to change T-mobile soft version to global one? Could someone point me some pros and cons please?
Next question is about battery life. I'm using it all the time in battery saving mode and I'd set screen to 60 Hz but still battery goes fast. Could You share what are you doing to improve battery life?
One more thing which irritates me is that screen turns off time always comes back to 30 sec (I think every charging) and I need to set it back to 2 mins manually. Is there any way to fix this?
I didn't install any tweaks or something like that. My phone is just like it was from the box but Android updated itself to version 10.0.13.HD63CB. Phone version: HD1907.
It is my first OnePlus so if someone have some advices or something about this car I will willingly read those ^_^.
Thanks for help in advance,
Tom.
Unlocked bootloader allows custom roms and more brick-proof. Custom roms and/or custom kernels can help prolong battery while improve performance
I think so I have the tmo version that I unlocked and switched if I could do it again I would I feel it runs better

Now that you have unlocked and switched to the global ROM, can you still use banking apps/GPay and HD Netflix, or does it fail security checks? That's the biggest question in my mind. I don't want to give that up just to have a non-T-Mobile ROM.
@bryantthesmith From what I've read everything should work fine just don't root Your phone and after You've installed global firmware You need to do OTA update and then lock bootloader again. It's important to do that OTA update before locking bootloader. BUT I'm just a noob so it would be better if someone smarter express his opinion on it.

Yes I have no issues with it I did use magisk hide as certain banking apps would not work because of root but not because of what version software.so yes if I root just use magisk hide and I may have to change the name of the app besides that no issues

Assuming you don't want to run custom software, or root your device, switching to global gives you faster and probably more frequent updates, and also if you are so inclined, to be able to run beta software. You lose the t-mobile bloat, you can get a dual sim tray and run 2 sim cards.
the only perceivable downside i've run into is the shelf page that you can switch with discover goes to shelf only.
Once switched over you can relock the bootloader and google pay works fine.
Battery life - what shows as the biggest drain? How often do you reboot? rebooting regularly(1-2 weeks) can fix a lot of little issues - like a pc, did you turn it off and on again.
Screen auto off may be affected by running in battery saver mode - try in regular mode.
Thanks for your reply @andycu . I didn't notice any app draining battery. Maybe it's running down normally but I'm coming from phone with 4500 mah so there must be a difference. Also maybe You are right with that screen auto off because I'm using this phone all the time in battery saver mode, because I don't need that much power lol. Phone seems super fast to me even in power saving mode. Is there a way to hide notification which says that my phone is in battery saving mode? I'm coming to android from iphone and I didn't find how to hide it.

I didn't see a notification, just an outline around the battery, possibly another difference with the t mobile software. what is your screen on time like? Normal use, not using battery saver, with no hardcore gaming i get close to 7 hrs, call of duty and other heavy games suck down the battery pretty quick, as will bad wifi or data connections. The people getting 9 plus hours are streaming wifi video, or downloaded content, not real world use.
By notification I mean when You take down your upper bar with wifi, data switch etc. there's always first notification (when in battery saver mode) that you are using battery saver mode and red caption to turn it off. I cannot tell You about usage without battery saver mode because I'm using it all the time and I don't have any data haha
Just for someones information.
1) Yesterday I moved from Tmobile to global. Short description:
Unlocked bootloader.
Flashed global.
Do OTA.
Locked bootloader again so I don't have any messege at start that device is unsafe etc.
(PLEASE IF U WANT TO DO THE SAME OTA IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU WILL LOCK BOOTLOADER WITHOUT DOING OTA BAD THINGS MAY HAPPEN. SO ONCE AGAIN FLASH FLOBAL -> DO OTA -> LOCK BOOTLOADER (IF U WANT)
2) I'm pretty happy with the results. Not much is change tho but battery life seems better and I don't have that ugly notification when I'm using battery saver mode.
If someone got any questions I will try to answer.
