After updating to MM from STOCK LP, my battery life has gone way down... by hours. Now, LG and Verizon boast that the MM update will help EXTEND battery life, but it has done quite the opposite for me. I like some of the new features such as WiFi calling, but not at the expense of hours less on battery usage.
I've done a factory reset, and even re-flashed the stock MM KDZ, but my battery still dies quite a bit faster than on LP. 35% of battery usage is the screen, and it is on auto... next at 12% is Google Play Services.
Any ideas on how to boost my battery life?
If nothing works, I'll just flash back to LP and root.... I like MM but not at the expense of my battery life.

Hey, I've got the MM update. I didn't get to test too much with lollipop but here is what I've done to maximize my battery.
1. hard factory reset
2. wiped cache
3. disabled all useless apps like amazon/amazon kindle/amazon music/android pay/audible/cloud/google play books/google play movies & tv/google play music/google play newstand/google+/hangouts/nfl mobile/slacker radio/vz navigator. (your list may vary depending on what you find useful)
4. keep screen brightness at 20% and as low as allowed when in sunlight
5. turned off all GPS
6. Under settings/location/3 dots in top right corner/scanning/ disable wi-fi scanning and bluetooth scanning
7. If you use facebook uninstall it and messenger then go on google chrome and log into facebook there and select get notifications then click the 3 dots in top right corner and click add to home screen while on facebook, it will put a short cut on your phones main screen allowing you to go right to facebook.
8. if you don't have a lot of people sending you MMS messages (picture messages through regular texting) then disable mobile data when you're around wifi.
I just removed facebook and messenger today so I'm still testing the battery now. But yesterday with facebook and messenger I had a total of 3.5 hours of screen on time. Today so far with facebook and messenger gone I'm at 90% battery with a total of 1h screen on time. which is 50% screen.

Thanks for the reply. I've done almost all of these, but I cannot wipe my cache because for whatever reason my phone will not boot into recovery mode. I've dialed all useless apps. I'll try the Facebook thing. I keep my screen brightness low now, although on LP I kept it on auto with no problems. LP also seemed to kill my mobile data while I was on Wi-Fi automatically, this doesn't appear to be the case on MM.

When trying to clear cache are you turning the phone off and then holding down power+volume down until the clear cache screen shows up? That's how I do it. And yeah the LP and MM both kill the data if you don't use the advanced calling. The reason is the G3 was one of that last phones to include dual radio chips. You're lucky that you're on a monthly plan. People like me on a prepaid plan aren't allowed to activate the advanced calling to use data while in a call. It's honestly dumb. My S5 could do it without needing advanced calling. Just one of the few things that irritate me about the G4
1. lack of data while calling
2. can't record video at 60fps unless rooted
3. verizon took away the ability for MM to use MicroSD card as internal storage.

I was able to do it by holding down vol. Up and power. I was trying to do it releasing power for a second, no wonder it didn't work. So I wiped cache. All I heard was about how good the G3 was, so I bought the G4. I really do like the phone, but this MM upgrade isn't working out too well with battery life. And now that it looks like there will be no root for MM, I'd consider selling it, but it's not paid for yet.

I can't vouch for it. But I have heard other peoples MM updates working it'self out over a few days. But I couldn't really say since mine has seemed decent from the start. I only got my phone in the mail a few days ago. First day I had it within 10 minutes of turning it on it updated and then updated again to MM. Then each day I've used it it's had similar battery usage. 76% battery remaining, screen on time is 1h 52m 53%

Looks like you should get around 3.5 to 4 hours of screen on time. And if you're keeping yours on automatic brightness you may be doing better than me. Not to mention I don't even have the facebook or messenger app on my phone like most do.

I can definitely tell a difference between LP and MM with auto brightness, and LP used less percentage of my battery. Facebook and messenger don't use up much battery because I've stopped push notifications, and I'm not that active on Facebook.I guess I'm spoiled because on LP I could go more than a full day on a single charge, and now I get about 8 hours being ultra conservative.
I'm just kind of bummed about the phone in general. I love the hardware, but I'm not at all used to not having root. I was a Samsung fanboy until the S5, which I had 3 of (junk).

From the way everyone talks about lollipop I'd downgrade in an instant if I knew I could be certain I wouldn't bootloop. Since I don't get to use advanced calling there is no reason for me to want to keep MM. Especially if I could root the phone and get 60fps recording as well as customization. I just don't know how to do the KDZ or LGUP thing. I've rooted phones before using odin and also towel root. But now that there are two ways that I understand of going about it being the KDZ and or LGUP I don't know which to use or where to start or how to flash back to stock to upgrade to MM if I don't end up liking the LP. I liked my S5 I just gave it to my mother though because I wanted the G4 for it's night camera mode since it didn't look like samsung was ever going to offer that feature on the S5 being as it still hasn't gotten the MM update.

Thanks I wasn't sure which thread to follow. I went to get the firmware for the vs986 and noticed there are two different ones. Do you happen to know the difference?

Two different firmware versions. 11A and 13B. 13B being the latest LP version. Not sure if you can downgrade to 11A, but it is confirmed that you can downgrade to 13B.

Ah ok, I don't know how I didn't notice the 11a and 13b parts. Unfortunately after looking into it more I'm afraid I'd mess up my phone. I imagine I could downgrade to LP without a problem. But to accomplish what I want to do I'd then have to gain root which I don't know how to do on this one since the only video I can find of it relates to I think it was 10a. Then I'd have to install flashfire which I don't fully understand and then download the modified camera zip file and flash it using flashfire all just to get 60fps on the g4 which the g2 comes standard with lol. I wish there was one thread that covered it all walking down the list of to go back to LP do this, Followed by to root specifically the LP 13b vs986 do this. To install flashfire do this. To flash the moddified camera do this. That would be a long post. But I think it would be nice or even better a steady walk through video. If I had money to replace the phone I'd try all these things but I spent a pretty penny on this phone just a few days ago to get a good serial number that wasn't prone to the bootloop glitch the G4's had. $400 on ebay. Bought it new with the platic still on it and everthing still sealed. Just to get a S/N that started with 510
My battery life has been terrible since the MM update. I have factory reset twice and it hasn't helped at all. I used to get like 3 hours of screen time and have like 15-20% battery left after being off the charger like 18 hours. The phone generally performs better, but battery life has taken a hit. I haven't tried getting a new battery yet, but I generally alternate batteries daily.
Sent from my VS986 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I've noticed no difference with MM, compared to LP. Rather disappointing, but I've always kept my phone minimal so I guess Doze can't do anything more.

So today I've installed latest MaximusHD rom for HTC One X, and everything is super fine, except for one thing - when I'm trying to connect to my Skydrive (using official app) while on Wi-Fi I just can't do it. After awhile it just says that I should check if I have a connection. The problem does not occur when I switch to Data Transmission. Other apps usually are able to connect but it seems slower than when using Data Transmision.
I have installed the WiFi update, and when using Google Play, or browsing the internet it seems to work just fine... I also switched from Superuser to SuperSU, but the problem occured before that so I don't think it had anything to do with that (noob question - which should I use? Superuser was there by default, but is ist actually better, or there is no big difference?)
Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the app?

I tried, it's still very slow.
Other odd thing is that when I turn on Data Transmission it's always showing the "H" symbol, even in the places where it previously showed "3G" or "3.5G", now it never switches. What does it mean? The speed seems fine though.
This happened to me too. And it's happening to YouTube and google play.
Could it be because I didn't do the OTA update?
In that case i have a little question: if I update the OTA do I/will it wipe all data?

Well I did the OTA update almost right away (after intalling few apps), and I saw the problem after that, so I don't think it has anything to do with that although it's suppose to fix WiFi. Oh and it didn't wipe my data.
EDIT:
Well I can't post in MaximusHD thread yet so I'll ask here, does everyone using this rom experience such a tremendous drop in battery life when using Data Transmission? On WiFi it's normal, but when using cellular it drains 5-10% in 10 minutes... That seems absurd.
bump. Seriously? Anyone knows if this problem with power drain when using cellular data transmission is also present in other clean Sense 5 Roms? Or is there a way to fix that, or maybe there is an update underway?
I just switched ROMs but was getting a full days use out of a charge. WiFi at work and home all day. So I never really used hspda.
Sent from my Avatar ROM that kicks buttski!!!

Yes! It does this for me too. It seems to drain at something like 1% per minute for me when I have mobile data on. Wifi also drains it quickly, but not as fast. I posted about this in the Maximus thread (some other issues too) but nobody has replied. Good to know it's not just me.

Yep, hopefully there is going to be some kind of fix, I really wouldn't like to go through the whole configuration, app instalation, etc. process again.
Ok, so another thing is - some icons in one of the folders on my home screen disapear. It's always in the same folder, and only in this one, others seem to be unaffected.

Issues I'm having:
1. Crazy battery drain when I enable wifi, but particularly bad when I enable mobile data. I have a Tasker profile where if I enable wifi and connect to my home network, autosync and GPS are enabled for 2 minutes then disable themselves. Last night my phone was on 61%, I enabled wifi, and immediately it dropped to 56%.
2. When I go to bed at night I turn my phone off. If I put it on charge at night it gets to a certain point and the phone switches itself on! One night last week it switched itself on at about 89%, so I switched it off again, and about ten minutes later it switched itself on again!
3. I use Google Calendar, not the HTC one. I seem to be unable to disable the HTC calendar - the only option is to "freeze" it in my backup app.
Aside from these things, I really like the rom, but these three issues are making me wonder if I should try something like ARHD and see if the same things are present there.

Well I don't know how it is with the phone turning itself on, because I'm not turning it off to begin with.
The thing with calendar - it seems to me it was also like that when using official Sense 4+, so I don't know if it's fixable.
I think I'm going to switch to ViperX Sense 5 Rom, people seem to say good things about battery life in this one.

Yes, I know some people think the idea of switching a phone off is somehow weird, but I turn mine off at night. As an experiment I just switched my phone off here in work, plugged it in to charge it (it was on about 93% - charged overnight and it has lost 7% since I switched it on when I got up for work at 5.30) and lo and behold it powered itself on when it reached 100%. I don't want this to happen.
The calendar on Sense 4 could be disabled - I know this as I had it disabled! I prefer the Google calendar, so I disabled the HTC one. On this ROM you can only hide it, or backup apps allow it to be frozen, which is what I've had to resort to.

Well then since nobody seems to know what to do in our instance, and I have no idea if there is some kind of update for MaximusHD underway, we propably will have to switch the Roms. I usually had the mobile Data Transmission turned on all the time when outside my apartment and while it did drain the battery more than WiFi it still was enough for 8+ hours of being on with medium usage (sometimes with battery saver option ticked when I needed to be outside for a longer period of time). Now the phone would be dead after few hours.
EDIT:
Today I switched for ViperX Rom, and all of the issues I wrote about seem to be gone, Skydrive app no longer has any issues with connecting. Although I'll say something more about batery life in 2-3 days when I'll actually have a chance to see how it works. In general I can say that this ROM is a lot more customizable, and has lots of tweaks (greeat ones) I haven't seen in Maximus, but still I'll wait for a few days with my final opinion.
Ok so after using it for a few days I can tell that the ROM itself is just better in sheer terms of funcionality. First thing I noticed is that I can now put more than 16 shortcuts into Folders, the icon grid in app panel is 5x6 so now I have 3 pages to scroll instead of 7. WiFi seems work more stable but I can't say that it worked bad in MaximusHD. When it comes to battery drain while using Data Transmission - it's still there, but after a few cycles of charging it seems to get better bit by bit, if it still changes I'll let You know. ROM comes with lots of additional tools, and allows heavy customization, and reclocking the processor for better battery life. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't know what about the phone turning itself on, because I don't switch it off. In terms of the callendar I also use gogle one and I just turned of sync options in the one provided by htc. Also I'm not sure if while installing the rom You are able to choose not to install the HTC callendar.

I've gone back to my old Orange-branded 4.1.1 / Sense 4+ build. Battery life has gone through the roof, HTC calendar is disabled, everything works, no problems. As for the phone powering itself on, well, something odd happened there...
When I decided to go back to the old build I restored my Nandroid backup and reflashed my old boot.img, taking the phone back to its old setup, and all seemed well, but that night I switched it off at bedtime (still find it weird that so many people think I'm freakishly odd for daring to switch my phone off from time to time) and lo and behold, some time later, it switched itself on again! The next morning I did some searching about removing the Clockworkmod recovery, followed the instructions, and also relocked my bootloader for good measure, and guess what? Since then it hasn't powered itself on while charging. So all I can gather from this is it was either Clockworkmod or having an unlocked bootloader that caused my phone to power itself on, because as soon as these two things were changed it has behaved normally.
So anyway, I'm going to stay on this build until Orange get around to releasing 4.2, or my contract expires in April, whichever comes first. Probably the latter, as according to a post I've seen from Orange themselves they reckon the update will appear 3-6 MONTHS after the manufacturer releases it.

Heh I'm alson in Orange (poland), and we got info that the update will show up sometime mid-december. I just got tired of waiting for them to update that's why I ended up with custom roms.
Maybe it was CM fault? I'm using TWRP, tonight I'll turn it off and see if it powers back itself during the night and let you know.

Yeah, its true. It slipped my mind. Probably this particular portion of the software was developed at the last moment, and they didn't have enough time to test it thoroughly
I have narrowed my wifi drop outs to the beyond pod app.
My camera won't focus after updating. I had the problem prior, but did the alcohol microfiber run to get the coating off and it was working great. After I updated the camera now seems like it won't focus, only objects within 5 inches are in focus. I did a factory reset and made sure that the camera wasn't set to macro mode. Nothing is working to fix this problem. I think my camera might just be broken now.

Now after a few days i think that the battery cannot hold on so long as with 4.4.2. Previously i could run it two days with moderate use, now the battery level drops to 20% after 24 hours.
At the update the battery was not fully charged. Is this behavior normal after the update, did i make a mistake, or does anybody else have the same problem?
I'm on 19% after 13 hours. WTF is going on? I cannot see any suspicious app causing this. Can i revert to 4.4.2? LOL...

I have (or had) the same problem as you with the new update. Try clearing the cache partition (that's what I've been told). I'm still keeping my eye on the battery to see if it's fixed. The problem for me was that Android Kernel and Android System was using too much battery.
Here are some screenshots:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzywJDML-7JkTkJwOV9mQk5ucG8/edit?usp=sharing

These battery results are pretty bad compared to what I was getting prior to 4.4.3 (i got 2d5h once with 4h on screen and 7 hours awake).
Hi! I think i was able to fix it, the issue appeared on other devices which received 4.4.3. I cleared the cache for Google Play Store and for GP Services. Now i'm at 50% after 20 hours.

just tried that and hoping it works. I've tried turning off fast boot but having the same issues others are reporting also.
here is a post from another user:
Hi, everyone, this is my first time here, so bear with me. On Wednesday, August 28, I downloaded the new Kit Kat 4.4.3 update from AT&T onto my One M8. Right after and for a few hours after, everything was in great condition as always. I've had my M8 since launch and haven't had a problem since and hold it very dear to me. Then, after about four hours, I noticed the phone was getting hot, really hot. I had power saver on as always and I saw that the CPU was taxed at 97%, just having Instagram running and YouTube actively showing a video. So I restarted the phone, clearing the cache and making sure that nothing was working too hard. That's when the problems really started coming up. It was getting hot but I ignored it and went to the Play Store to update my banking app and download Reddit News. After seven minutes of a normally one minute (if that) update, I stopped the download, cleared the cache and tried again. Nothing. So Google Play won't download, update, or install apps, Google, or third-party. That's not all. Hangouts will not send messages. Even in full LTE connectivity and 5 GHz Wifi AC, message could not send both to Android users (one used messages, the other Hangouts) and to an iPhone. It was like deja vu with my old iPhone 4S. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. YouTube was giving me hell, too. When I would type into the search bar to search for a video, the search bar would clear. For example, if I'm looking up and type into the search bar on YouTube "Linus Tech Tips," then it'll work. But if after that I backspace or "x" out "Linus Tech Tips," and type something else, say, "Build a Gaming PC," If I use Swype (Swiftkey, Google Keyboard, or HTC Sense), the first word shows up, but as I'm typing, the subsequent words are erased and "Linus Tech Tips" shows up in the search bar (check him out if you don't already). This is EXTREMELY frustrating and now I can't watch The Joy of Painting. Damn. Finally, the CPU and heat I mentioned before is crazy. The CPU is always between 79% and 99% at all times. the RAM is usually at about 75% as normal, but the CPU is running nuclear hot. It's going to 105-115 degrees Fahrenheit. This worries me, all of this, because I wonder if this is the fault of the new 4.4.3 update for the AT&T M8 model or maybe underlying causes. I've had Malwarebytes scan my phone and find nothing. That caches are cleared and nothing seems to work. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful because my only option in my mind is to do a hard factory reset of the device. Thanks to anoye who can help, and if not, then, oh well. Thanks, and sorry I made an essay out of this, this is really a big problem for me.
another user just posted:
Well, I think that the factory reset fixed it. It's been over an hour now, and the phone isn't overheating anymore. Battery life has only dropped 2% in that hour instead of the 2% every five minutes after the update.
After the 4.4.3 update the camera's manual mode doesnt change the exposure the same way as it did in 4.4.2 so i cant see the pics in the viewfinder at night before i actually take the pic and look at it, and that really sucks.
Hello All,
Just wanted everyone to know that there seems to be a problem with the Lollipop upgrades from LG. It is not a Sprint problem as when I did a Google search this morning users from all carriers are screaming. The problems mainly are:
- Slow charging - my G2 now takes several to get to a full charge where it used to take 1 hour.
- Fast Battery drain - the battery now lasts about 6 hours on average where before I could go all day with one charge.
- Slow Wifi speed - there are reports that this is caused by an implementation of IP6. There are ways to disable this if you are rooted.
- overheating - Phone gets really hot - when I am charging my phone the temps near the camera module get very toasty. It gets hot enough that I have to take the Otterbox case off to let it cool down.
I don't know when or if LG will fix the issue, just wanted you all to know what could happen before you upgrade.
I have none of these problems.
I also have none of these problems. My G2 battery life has been quite good on Lollipop so far, charges like it should, and isn't getting hot.
I'm getting 5hrs sot. I actually thought the battery was stuck a couple days ago. It sat all night and into the next morning at 100%. Idled all night on WiFi, took a couple pics in the morning as well as a call, browsed twitter and reddit, used the Starbucks app, and sent a picture through Textra. All while at 100%. I rebooting thinking it was wrong, but it started back up at 99%. 7hrs23min at 100%. Granted it's not going to be custom rom/kernel good but it's stock, so that's expected.
Did you factory reset after the OTA?
I ran the ZVE tot file, then side loaded the ZVA OTA with adb. Did a factory reset before booting and it's been great.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
No Problems here
I also have none of the issues, i think maybe all the people who were on zve already and got the ota are having problems.
Agreed, no problems here. Best advice is to take the update and then factory reset. Like "Alt-Ctrl-Delete" for your phone. Works wonders.
I had stock and sideloaded the ota zip. I wiped the dalvik cache before updating. I have none of these problems whatsoever. My only issue is with lg or sprint. Apparently, for whatever reason they decided to remove LG home themes settings.
None of these problems. You might factory reset. You could also TOT back to ZVE and redo the ZVG upgrade. Factory reset after ZVG upgrade.
No problems here either. I did not factory reset though I had TOTed back to ZVE a few days before updating.
No problems with mine, either. In fact, I went back to Optimus DE rom and my battery really started draining fast, barely lasting through the day. Then did ZVE tot flash and sideload ZVG update, and battery is back to lasting 2 days and charges normally. Now going to try UltraPOP....
I had problems with fast battery drain and slow charging when I upgraded to Lollipop
Per advice from here, I TOT'ed back to ZVE, wiped the cache, did a factory reset, sideloaded to Lollipop, and did another factory reset. The battery drain problem seems to be gone. I thought the slow charging was fixed but I'm still checking it.
I've got crazy bad lag. It only seems to happen when the phone has been on awhile. Clearing recent programs doesn't seem to make a difference. A reboot will clear it up, but it always comes back. I wish we could get AOSP + latest radios on this damned thing...

This one may be due simply to the memory issues in Lollipop (not G2 related). Lots of articles about the issue online. Unfortunately, no fix available (it remains to be seen if even Android 5.1 has resolved the issue)

My wifi speed has declined a lot under Lollipop. I'm rooted. How can I disable IP6 to see if that is the problem?

I don't see this lag at all. I updated via ota zip and cleared dalvik cache before updating. A factory reset will do you well.
Wifi speed increase
I used Disable IPv6 on my phone and it did not solve my speed and connection problems. Very low internet speed and from time to time dropping and then reconnecting to my home router. However, I disabled IPv6 on my router, and now my speed is back to normal. So disabling IPv6 on my router and my LG G2 seems to have resolved this lollipop bug.
I have some battery problems with my ASUS phone. It spends so much energy without any reason. I have tried to change OTA ( 2.17.40.12 [no root] and 2.13.40.13 [root] ) a couple of times but still nothing. Even when I try to reset factory settings, I have no results. Another wrong indication is that it shows wifi on, but I have it off. I don't use the device at all, but I see the battery goes down 3% every 10 minutes.
plz help me
Same problem with me. I can't figure out what's causing all the battery drain and the phone heats up a lot. I have used other phones before with all bt, wifi, data on all day I have no issues with them. Only with this phone. I can only get a 4-5 hours usage time. charging takes up to 3 hours?
Anyone can clarify this? I have the Ze551ML Asus_Z00AD version 1.8ghz, 4gb ram, 32gb internal. I don't have the fast charger either
Try going into the WiFi settings to see if WiFi scanning is on. That has been known to drain battery
It's a native 5.0 problem. I'm sure everyone has this problem right now. We just have to wait for an OTA...
Best now, is that you use amplify, Greenify, and servicely to minimize wakelock

Having "Android OS" as the top consumer isn't a native Lollipop issue. I haven't seen it jump so high on my Nexus 4, which I have left on an older version of 5.0 from last year. When 5.0 was 1st ported to the G2 some kernel changes later fixed Android OS, so I believe Asus can fix a problem that was fixed by non-professionals.
Wi-Fi should also perform better too, looks like Asus' engineers have a lot of work awaiting them. Too bad for them b/c when that ZenPad and selfie release things will get worse.

I had battery problems too upon purchasing, then i suddenly thought to cycle the battery, charge it up then let it drain without using it until it turns off and then charge it up until full while turned off. My battery now is much better
Mine was great until the most recent OTA. It installed on 05/31, I don't have the phone with me to see what the build number is, but I am now experiencing the battery drain. Before this OTA I would have 50-60% battery left at the end of the day, last night it died well before then.

I want asus support unlock bootloader
Tks
I tried to clear my cache hoping it would help with the battery drain. I wasn't patient and thought the phone froze while clearing the cache and restarted it. I've now read that it can take 10 minutes to clear. When it restarted it was the flashing dead android. I was able to fastboot erase cache (took a couple of seconds) and It was good to go. I went ahead and did a factory reset. My NFC didn't seem to be working, so I wanted to see if that would fix it. It may still not be working. My phone now has much better battery life. It has been downloading and installing apps for three hours now (slow internet loading ~65 apps), and I have been setting up my home screen. It is at 90%. Doing much better, like it was before.
I'm on Z00A-2.17.40.12_2050515
Tl;dr: a complete wipe helped with my battery after the most recent OTA.

My battery lasts four hours without even using the phone. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get something that is even usable. THIS is ridiculous.

So non-root performs better?
I don't think so. My wife also now has a Zenfone 2. Same model as mine, the 4gb ram 64gb model, also has the most recent OTA. Hers is non-rooted as well and has the battery drain, but only if the wifi is on. We tried a factory reset and clearing the cache. It didn't help.

Actually, it is. It has to do with play services. Good for your nexus 4 but read up on the forums. It's an android issue. Every ROM I've used for my HTC one has it, gpe, aosp, sense.
Had a nexus 5 and It sounds like that native 5.0 lolly pop issue, where it as constantly scanning for 5HZ Frequency, you could try and lock it in to 2.4GHZ setting under WiFi advanced. See if that helps.
Root the phone and delete the crap with titanium backup. I did this on the latetest update and battery is better then my Samsung s5. Turn screen from auto to quarter of the way. I have WiFi and my data is with wind mobile in Canada so it is always looking for signal. Take a look at battery from today. Been off charger since 5am til 10pm.

Ever since I updated to Android PIE (One UI). I've noticed a major decrease in the battery. I was able to get a full day of usage with oreo, now I only get a little over half a day of usage. Not to mention the battery usage of screen off time is about 10-15% worse than what it was on Oreo...
I doubt I'm the only one with this problem, so has anyone found a fix to this? Or should I just revert back to oreo?
Model: Samsung SM-G960F
Make sure you factory reset after updating to Pie
I factory reset the phone after installing Pie and battery improved greatly. battery while using the phone is pretty much the same, but phone in standby time drains waaaay less battery than on Oreo.
You should factory reset your phone after every major update like this one

Is your google backup still working?
My SoT and standby battery improved graitly after deleting google accounts, samsung, and emails.
Only got twitter, fb, fb messenger as social media.
I know this is not a fix, but I did this, to check battery without google accounts activated.
I start to beleive my drain comes, from the phone trying to back up and get stuck, plus a play store that kept crashing.
It even showed at device maintenance, but then again, that one isn't working properly neither for a lot of users.

I've factory reset my phone. However I'm never gonna use samsung cloud to backup again, either backup wont work or restore won't work.
In terms of battery, it's gotten a little better, however I still feel like it was better back on Oreo.
Not factory resetting
I've owned my Galaxy S9 for a little over a month now, and I've done lots with it. I've installed a lot of apps and would hate to factory reset it and have to go through the process of setting it up again.
The battery has gotten worse on Pie but I want to fix the battery issue without factory resetting it. I know I can enable Power Mode but then I can't use Gear VR. Any ideas?

Clear cache from recovery
Install something like BetterBatteryStats and find out what is draining the battery (Needs some ADB commands to give it permissions but does not require root)
Disable AOD
Turn off background usage for apps you do not need to run in the background from that specific apps info screen
Dev Options > Background Check can also stop apps from running in the background
Turn off notifications for apps you do not need them from (I always assume if they have notification permission, they have to run in the background in order to provide notifications in the first place)
But the ultimate battery fixer after upgrading to a new Android version is and always will be a factory reset, you just cannot fix battery drain properly any other way, the previous OS leaves behind rubbish files which drains the battery, always been the case
I gave in and decided to back up my data using Smart Switch and factory reset. It was a pain setting everything up again and some apps just weren't reinstalled for some reason. I can confirm that the battery isn't as bad as it was previously, but it still drops by 1% every few minutes like on Oreo. I've turned on power saving mode and disabled AOD, but the battery still remains disappointing. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update.
