Hello. My s9 is getting hot when i am walking. I tried with flight mode(with bt, wifi off), maximum battery saver, deleting s-health, factory reset, android oreo and android pie.
None of the above solved my problem.
It is completely normal when i am travelling with my car, or sitting at table or while using it.
Is there anyone who experienced same situation, or anyone who can suggest somethings.
Thank you very much.
Samsung health step counter or GPS maybe

Hi guys
I have a LTE Note II and have had this battery drain on standby where wifi will absolutely destroy my battery. This has been going on for months and months and I'm just not sure if Samsung are ever going to resolve this and it is quite the pain in the arse.
I've done many tweaks to my phone, and all location services are off. Also, I've set it as a static IP, but nothing seems to help. I think this is related to the wlan_rx_wake wakelock? I get the impression my phone is responding to the wifi and getting woken up constantly.
Does anyone else experience this and do you have any suggestions?
P.S. please don't mention my apps causing it. It definitely is not. I know my way around Android and also, my Nexus 4 with the same setup (but location + google now turned ON) absolutely annihilates my Note II battery life on standby. This is clearly a Samsung problem that they have ignored for the best part of a whole year, and it seems to be related to wifi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Do u have some figures about this battery drain to be able to compare with my phone?
It could be a bad modem/connection. What is your configuration?

No exact figures but I have been observing it for months now and it hasn't been the case with any other phone I use. With wifi on, it'll drain around 20% overnight. With Wifi off, it'll drain 5 or so %. With Wifi on on every other phone I own/owned, it will barely drain at all overnight.
Type *#0011#
Check wifi setting
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
This is what I got when I entered that it
After *#0011# go to menu and select wifi in order to see if power safe mode is on.
Yeah it is on
Is that bad?

That's not bad, it improves battery usage. I don't recognize your problem. Does the phone go into deep sleep with wifi on? Which rom do you use?

Stock ROM. And yeah, but it is constantly being woken up.
Sorry for the bump, but this hasn't changed.
I'm not sure if this is to do with just the N7105, but it is something that just won't go away. I'm now finding I lose between 20 and 30% overnight (around 7 hours) with wifi on, or about 10% with data on. With these both turned off but the phone radio still being on, it only drops about 2% in the same time. This was tested with bluetooth/gps and sync turned off.
I don't really have the time to write up everything that I have tried, but suffice to say I have tweaked the phone a lot over the past few months trying to sort this out, but nothing works.
Here is a quick summary of the stuff I have done.
Firstly, I have to run a stock rom and kernel because there is an app I need that will not work on custom roms/kernels. It also doesn't work on root but I have found a procedure to toggle unroot/root when need be and it works fine. Therefore I'm stuck on 4.1.2 as I want to be rooted but I cannot use any custom rom or kernels.
I have tried factory wiping the phone/installing later versions of 4.1.2, etc etc and the same problems still exists with a freshly wiped phone and no apps installed. This problem also doesn't happen with my Nexus 4 or any other phone I have owned with the same setup, so I am very certain it is not due to a misbehaving app.
I have frozen a lot of bloat with titanium backup, I have hibernated a hell of a lot of stuff with greenify (including system app where there are no perceivable negative consequences)
I have added a few tweaks to the build.prop such as to disable fast dormancy and a few other supposed power saving ones which are meant to help with the msm_hsic wakelock.
There are many other things such as setting a static IP, and also tweaking with my router based on some advise I found on these forums. Nothing much has helped.
Location services and google now are off, and I'm not using the Samsung bloatware apps.
I use betterbatterystats and the partial wakelocks are fine. Very low infact.
However, IMO it is two "kernal wakelocks" which are causing me the problem.
wlan_rx_wake - in regards to the wifi
mdm_hsic_pm0 - in regards to the data
These are by no means outrageously high. My estimation is perhaps 10 mins wake up time and around 2000 "expire time" (whatever that means) every 3 hours or so. However, these two are always the highest kernel wakelock depending on if i'm using wifi (wlan_rx_wake) or data (mdm_hsic_pm0). My phone is also not being kept awake too long too in general.. at a guess around 3 hours awake time for every 2 hours screen on time for every 15-20 hours.
I can't remember if these kernel wakelocks were super duper high in the past, and the fixes I tried actually lowered them, but I still notice this massive Idle drain when on data or wifi (just over 1% per hour - or 2-3% per hour respectively).
In regards to the Wifi.. I suspect that packets are being sent from my router which are constantly waking up my phone. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to solve this problem with any of the router-side fixes I've tried.
This leads me to suspect that the wifi and data radio of the N7105 is power hungry, or I've had a faulty unit since day one. I keep hearing about this stellar battery life for this phone but, for me, the best I've ever got is around 20 hours. This may sound good but the problem is it is 20 hours with 6 hours screen on time, or 20 hours with 2 hours screen on time. This doesn't seem to make a difference where I should be getting two days when I only have 2 hours screen on time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and any experiances of others with the N7105 may help find out if it indeed is more power hungry. I'd also like to add that my network does not support 4G yet so this is all on 3G and NOT LTE.
Thank you, and sorry for such a long post.

I ain't expert...
but, I would suggest like this :
Go to wifi, press menu and then Advanced (advanced setting of the wifi).
uncheck/untick "Scanning always available"
"Keep wifi on during sleep" = set to Never.
uncheck / untick "auto network switch btwen wifi network and mobile networks"
all these helps me to minimize the usage of wifi during night times (when I sleep). Anyway, device also need to have a deepsleep
Hope can help you as well.

Hey all, so I'm having a very annoying and strange issue: My Moto 360 will wake up (i.e. screen turns on) randomly and without reason, ranging from within seconds of each wake to minutes, but it absolutely kills the battery (I can't make it more than 10-12 hours with absolute minimal usage). This is with tilt to wake off, theater mode on, all possible apps except the Android Wear app uninstalled. and the watch sitting completely still on a table. It was happening with Android 5.1 and 5.1.1 on my Nexus 6, and is still happening with the recent 5.1.1 Android Wear update.
The only way to "fix" the waking up issue is if I turn on airplane mode on my phone, which obviously disconnects the watch. So clearly my Nexus 6 is waking up the watch remotely, be it through the AW app or through the connection itself somehow. One other note: when I reset the watch and pair it with my 2013 Nexus 7, the issue doesn't occur, so clearly it's not a problem with the watch's hardware or software, but with the way the Nexus 6 communicates with the watch.
Really would appreciate any insight or guidance as to what's going on - I'm truly at a loss, and the only explanation I can possibly come up with is an issue with my phone's internal hardware (maybe something bluetooth-related)? I've even reset my phone on multiple occasions and that won't fix it.
The only other reference on the internet I can find to this issue is here, where this guy seems to be having the same problem, albeit with a different Mororola-produced phone: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-wear/5vB-dKc5IGI.
I'm using rooted Nokia XL and had installed InitailL-Rom and was facing the WiFi and WiFi hotspot problem. After I have fixed the hotspot issue on my Nokia XL by flashing stock rom using Nokia Care Suite, everything is working well only except the battery consumption has been awful. And this problem started all of sudden out of nowhere. Before fixing the WiFi issues my battery was working well and right after I fixed it this problem started. I'm not saying that there's some problem with the WiFi-fix. I actually dont understand what the problem is and just asking if somebody could help me either understand it and/or help to solve it, just in case. So here is some brief description of how I'm looking at this problem.
Now, I dont know what could have caused this, but "Cell Standby" contributes about 50% or more of the battery consumption. I re-flashed the rom a several times just to make sure the flash was proper and not dirty.
I looked it up on google and found out that its kind of a problem for many and also that its about how the phone maintains the network and tried the first-hand solutions like keeping my data service off and etc etc.
But even though still the battery would last only for 6 hrs with no usage, 2.5 hrs when playing videos, which I guess are really awful stats. My battery's health is good and I've even tried a ton of recalibration apps and methods for like over the last whole month but nothing seems to work out. My phone dies unexpectedly at around 20-40% of the battery remaining. When I try to turn it back on, it doesnt turn on unless plugged into charging. Immediately after plugging into charging and switching it on; the battery bar is half filled or sometimes even more than that. Any ideas and/or help would be great.
Hi,
I have very annoying probkem with my A5 2017 running Nougat with the november sec. Patch. The problem is in WIFi, it often becomes very slow, but fixes after i turn the WIFI on and off. Also, when watching YouTube, the signal drops, speed is super slow and the WIFI often reconnects. When browsing, the speed often becomes slow, it does reconnect but not that often.
It is still presented even factory resets. Both done in M and N, was having same issue with M. Adaptive WIFI is off.
Any solutions? Thanks.

Ummmm....I remember this issue on stock ROM. Unfortunately, I never got around to investigating it as it never really bothered me. The issue is definitely with the stock firmware - never had this issue on LOS.
Sorry I don't have a clear solution for you. I'm sure someone will enlighten you and if I find any further information, I'll post in here.
Ok thanks, I will try to contact Samsung as well.
Hello friend...
On my phone, the wi-fi is normal.
How did you update it?
Via OTA or via Odin?
I do not recommend updates via OTA, they usually give a lot of problems ...
If you upgraded via Odin, did you clear the caches? (wipe)
Has anyone resolved this issue, recommended the a5 2017 to my mate and now he can't use youtube and other chromecast apps as it keeps messing up the WiFi.
I've used the OTA. I always clear cache, any solution? Also the WiFi signal sometimes become weaker, and ten recover to normal, I am standing in one place, weird.
Also when I leave the phone in standby with WIFI on, the battery seems to discharge pretty fast, but when I unlock the phone after the idle, the WIFi becomes very slow and web pages takes minutes to load, after it finishes loading, it is back to normal.
Guys, did any of you find solution? It is super annoying.
So, what seems to work (at least for now) is to delete the data from the WlanTest app in the settings (make sure that you can view system apps) then delete the app data.
I've had my Note 10+ since launch and it's been amazing. Recently the phone has been getting warm, nothing unbearable though. I have tried various things such as booting into safe mode to see if there any rouge apps. I have also tried wipe cache partition but it still exhibits the same warm feeling. Never had this issue before. My last resort will be doing a factory reset. If anyone can give me ideas that would be great.
Best thing to do would prob be send it to samsung or your network

I was thinking about doing that, but that would be my last resort after a factory reset
Any other suggestions?
That's all I could think of sorry
If you use Android Auto it will turn the screen on when it connects through Bluetooth. If you have it plugged in it isn't a problem but if you are in the Car when it connects to the Bluetooth it will automatically activate and the screen will stay on even in your Pocket. You have to manually exit it if it starts and you don't want it to.
OP does not report battery states when phone getting hot (does battery discharges fast?). Also not clear in what state phone gets hot (in use, while charging, in idle state?).
Getting warm relates to use of energy => battery fast discharging or battery fast charging.
Check if there are apps using a lot of power, maybe even in background, they may be the cause. Remove or limit use of those apps.
If no apps are producing the heat, then it could be hardware issue: return phone checked by Samsung or service centre.
Upgrade to Android 10 may be good moment to do factory reset, and see from there...
