How to fine-tune display colors? - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hello, I'd like to know if there is a mod for Xposed or an app to change white balance and/or R-G-B levels. The display is too cool for me (whites are bluish). I know there is an additional setting on Mi Mix 2s to change color temperature with a ball, but Mi 6 only offers 3 fixed values to change contrast/temperature.
Thanks in advance.

What is 'kcal'?
The problem is not MIUI, but Mi 6 firmware. As I said, Mi Mix 2s has an additional setting to change temperature to your own taste. See this:

Does anyone know a custom ROM with additional settings to tune colors?
Thanks again
EDIT: It seems there could be ROMs supporting 'kcal'. Please see THIS. Could you tell me something?

That's it. On that thread it shared a kernel for miui -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78924142&postcount=65 I'm currently using it and seems fine. It doesn't have kcal but the standard contrast profile in settings -> display -> contrast and colors, is really close to what we get in non miui pie roms.
@zhaodelin2002 @wloot where can we follow updates on this kernel?

Did you mean the standard contrast mode is close to the sRGB profile (the most natural)? If developers have tuned this mode to be accurate, that is what I am looking for. Do I have to replace the stock kernel keeping the firmware? is that all? In order to do that, should I root my device? My device is still locked (it's new).
A little help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, the standard contrast mode is almost the same as non miui roms. You'll need to unlock your phone install a custom recovery (usually twrp) and flash the new kernel from there. There's no need to change the miui rom. And if you want to, check pie (non miui) roms. They're great.

Now I understand... There are 2 versions of LoverOriented: one MIUI-compatible and other non-compatible. Well, could you tell me more MIUI compatible kernels with 'kcal' or default near-sRGB calibration?

Installation Instructions:
Download the most recent build
Download Gapps (I use Open Gapps Mini)
From Recovery:
Full Wipe (Recommend full wipe and factory reset)
Flash ROM zip

Latest ROM:

I removed the stock CM music player and replaced it with the "VanillaMusic" player from XenonHD ROM, and use AOSP Setup Wizard since Lineage one isn't very good.
Thanks to:
The Lineage Team for the kernel & device source and a whole lot of things.
@StoneTrapper
@pappaschlumpf
Without these folks helping out, this ROM would be waaaaaaayyyy farther back in development. I owe these guys a tremendous debt of gratitude. Feel free to thank them for me

As such, feature requests may or may not get implemented, and it may take me quite a while to get ém done if they do. I thank you all for your patience on that.
Also, I do have a day job, so I may not be able to answer questions or address concerns right away. I thank you for your understanding on that.
All that said, I hope you enjoy the ROM

This ROM does not, and as far as I'm aware, none of the others do either. That's something that @StoneTrapper and I briefly talked about, but we haven't explored it too much yet.
We're not completely sure what's involved in getting that to work, but we will look into it.

There is no HDR mode in the stock application "Camera". Third-party applications can not work correctly with the Camera. In RR, there are no such problems.

Ok, I checked into it and asked @StoneTrapper about HDR in RR. HDR does work in LOS, but for some reason when the app is first opened, the HDR option is greyed out. To get it to work, tap on the icon in the upper right to change modes, and HDR icon becomes active. Also, there is an HDR option in the list once the upper right icon is tapped.
There is no difference between pictures with HDR enabled and without HDR. Thank you.

I was able to activate the HDR according to your instructions. Thank you. But I do not see any difference in the quality of the pictures. Otherwise, the assembly is very good.

Are you referring to the missing buttons to activate/deactivate the options? Or do you mean you want to enroll your specific fingerprint for phone security?
I hope the on/off switches in settings aren't missing. :-o

[DISCONTINUED]100Hz SCREEN Overclock! Sony Xperia XZ [F833X]

Hello, this is just for kicks and giggles due to how the device will struggle due to high refresh rate, but I experimented with this device now (because I just got it). Even if this forum isn't active anymore, I'll just share the boot images that I modified. Basically, other devices uses partition named DTBO to store the blobs of the device tree, which then modders edit the partition contents to overclock the screen. But since our device doesn't have DTBO Partition, I know that it is instead appended to the zImage of the kernel. I just extracted it from zImage, modified and appended it back the zImage again.
YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE LATEST DUALITY PATCHED ROM (.192) TO BE ABLE TO FLASH THIS KERNEL!!
Instructions :
Download the boot image with refresh rate you desire then flash it with either fastboot or TWRP.
ENJOY High Refresh Rate on our Device ) !!!

I'm not sure if variable refreshrate is possible or can be ported yet. Making magisk module is pretty impossible since our device doesn't even have DTBO partition, the device tree blobs are "glued" to the kernel itself. So I'm not really that sure.

Nice!
Yes! Finally! @sasafat thank you very much for your developement/porting of this ROM to Dipper
You don't know how much I anticipated for something like this, a dream becomes true, this ROM will make our phones longer usable, Android 12 with MIUI 13 - really a dream which becomes true.
Have to try it, I think, that I will flash it in the next week, if you want to, I would really like to help you out, for testing and all the other things, which are needed for further development - I don't know everything, but I'm a techie since 2007 so maybe I can help - just write a message or quote me here
Hello sasafat, thanks for sharing my rom here
Here's few point :
- latest version fixes face id and volume theming
- you mixed screenshot with old version and new version
- NFC is still an issue, we are investigating what's wrong
- GPS is partially fixed
Next port will be miuisr (miui 14 on android 13)

Face unlock and double tap to wake screen while aod is enabled doesn't work for me. Did clean flash 2 times with no success. Any suggestions?

If you don't have the option for face unlock you must change region (France work)
For double tap you need ngk app and put the setting here

下一个端口将是miu ISR(Android 13上的miui 14)

When will MIUI 14 on Android 13 arrive? Looking forward to it. I am a Chinese user who uses translation software to type this sentence, I hope you can understand my reply. Ha ha!

I did set it to France but really no success. But I really appreciate your work and keeping our great device with new miui. Hope we will get new updates with passing safety net and all other stuff working if possible. Because this device is still one of the best. Thank you!

Hi,
first, I like to thank you for this great port. I never expected MIUI13 on Mi8 so I used Pixelexperience since two years.
Your port run much smoother and the trick with "choose france for face-id" works very well too.
I only have one problem with GPS accuracy (as you mentioned). Can you fix this, because it works only partitially or do you focus on Android 13 and GPS ist out of scope?
Bye
Ray

We have tried many things for GPS, and we can't properly fix it, we will try to fix it for miui 14 android 13 (and fix NFC too)
As you know porting roms isn't easy, and it's already a miracle we are able to run miui 13 on android 12

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I know you did some kind of kagic with A12 on Mi8 Dipper and apprechiate that very much! Google Maps and Adidas Running recognizes the resent position correctly but cant move/navigate. Maybe a hint for further investigations ? Let me know if you need testers.
I'm very happy with your port because it's the only one where waking-up the display works reliable: incomming call, ringing alarm clock, lift from table, double tap Screen, face id.
Bye, Ray
Looks promising, would love to give this a try but sadly NFC is a must to me, good luck to the devs!

As far as asthetics goes, yes it is. The tweaks are mostly kernel related, hentai kernel.
Does this have all or do we still need to root and install gapps?
Does this have hotspot hack?

Theoretically, just take the boot, vendor_boot, dtbo ,and dlkm from hentai ROM and flash those and you'd have the kernel on any rom

yes, written on op. And I asked the dev as well! Although about phone showing kernel v as Meteoric
I'm curious about which HOS tweaks are included with the kernel. The extra screen brightness and camera stuff is really nice but I do miss some of the customization in other roms

Hello, I've encountered a problem with first initial install. As I was trying to patch Magisk, fastboot commands were not discovering the phone, however ADB works to reboot into bootloader. It is unknown if fastboot was working earlier (I recently downloaded SDK yesterday), however, I tested fastboot on my Pixel 4 XL and it works. I used the web flasher and chose clean install for this. I will try again with another clean install.
EDIT: I reinstalled the ROM and fastboot now works.

Ok google seems not to be working, it shows "currently unavailable for this language" even though I set English (US) as primary language.
