Hello .. I need some info about burn in on super amoled disiplay
I have read about burn in problem on super amoled some site explain this cause Blue color has weakened than Red and Green
My question is
1. What if im use ' blue light filter '* everyday can avoid burn in problem?
(In logic blue light filter reduce blue color to produce on the screen
2. Im setting on ' screen mode' to 'adaptive disiplay'
And calibrate color to
100% Red Default
100% Green default
90% Blue
What if im use the setting can avoid burn-in problem?
Thanks

yes. I never leave screen with statis image to hours. And just use 30-40% brightness .
What if im reduce blue color on my screen can extend the blue life on the screen blue color life ?
I think burn in because blue is weaker than red and green

Speaking more technically, the issue is that blue LEDs have significantly lower luminous efficiency than red or green pixels. This means that for a set sized pixel, a blue LED needs to be driven at a higher current in order to achieve the same brightness as red or green. Higher current causes the pixel to degrade faster, shortening its lifespan and therefore eventually tinting the display towards the red and green colors. Therefore an OLED display’s color doesn’t degrade evenly, it will eventually lean towards a red/green tint.
So, if one part of the panel spends a lot of time displaying a blue or white image, the blue pixels in this area will degrade faster than in other areas. That’s essentially what burn-in is.
https://www.androidauthority.com/screen-burn-in-801760/
Not sure lowering the blue will improve much, you will have a strange colour from day 1 that way rather than when they eventually degrade
Just don't leave white/blue on the screen for extended times
Ive never messed with blue and never been careful about what I am doing, apart from not leaving the screen on the same image for ages, and never had burn in with S5, S7 and now S9
Dont use it on charger (playing games) when screen is getting hot then burnin begins to form.

Hey xda forum!
I just bought the awesome phone, desire, but i noticed that my screen is blue-greenish tint, compared to my friends Desire. I think i can live with it, but is there anything to do? i've searched for this problem and found that the samsung vibrant also has this problem.
what can i do, is there any way u can change the setting of ur display? turning brightness up helps, but outside, my friends desire is easier to see/read compared to mine.
You may have it set so that brightness is Auto,
Settings > Display > Brightness
It was set to auto but that really look awful
So it is on full brightness now

the amoled screen does have a blue tint, from what i beleve blue led's die out really quickly, Samsung on purpose made the screen to over display blue, and as time goes on, the blue will die to a yellow. So if your phone is more blue today, it will last longer tomorrow. also Samsung tunes all of their displays (TVs and all) towards the bluer end of the spectrum because it gives the display a higher apparent brightness because our eyes perceive bluish white as being brighter than yellowish white even with no actual brightness difference.

thanks for the info, that actually good news followed up on ur info and read about it on wiki.
i guess thats the only way they can expand the life time of old amoled displays.
back to auto brightness
I just bought my desire and have same problem ad u guys. I accepted the fact that blue had a low lifespan, but was still trying to hunt for a solution. After dl many brightness apps I found, Brightness profiles. I started playing around to change the brightness and notice some weird flickness. Example at 74 % it was more "yellow" than on 75%. At 96 % had less blue tint than 100 %. I could see it clear under no light before I went to sleep. So I guess they are defect but Ye, that's my workaround cuz I'm too lazy to return the phone and I like the cool tint now, or well it got better
It is my understanding that super amoled uses very low power with blacks because of the absence of light while using up to three times the amount on whites.
I was wondering how tft lcd differs, is it better to show blacks or whites for saving power?

An LCD screen is backlit. There is a constant light source at the back of the screen, behind the liquid crystals (the 'LC' in 'LCD') that form the individual pixels of the display (the 'D' in 'LCD'). When a pixel changes color all it is doing is blocking some parts of the light behind it and letting other parts through. So whether the screen is black or white, or any color or shade in between, the same amount of light is trying to get out, and the individual pixels are merely stopping some of the light from passing through. That means the LCD power consumption is not affected by the color setting of the background (which would be the color setting of the majority of the pixels, in most cases).

So by now we should be all aware that the blue sub pixels on OLED screens wears out the fastest, so as time passes the screen tone will noticeably change.
On my 2 month old Note 2 I can already notice a difference. Because my status bar is black, the pixels are turned off, and the results are that the area of the screen under the status bar gets burnt in (or aging) while the status bar area remains untouched.
You can check the your screen aging by entering test mode by typing *#0*#
Select the blue and you should be able to notice a difference.
The results of the blue sub pixels aging is that whites turns into yellow, and colors in general appears more dull.
Is this fixable via calibration?
Just checked mine, and mine is fine, had my note 2 since launch day in the uk.

I'd say it's impossible for a 2 month old device to have burnt in screen, especially with Note's 2 new pixel arrangement. Your screen might be defective to have burnt in so quickly. Also i don't think calibration could solve it - if those pixels are indeed burnt in, they're half-dead and you can't calibrate just a part of display.

To be fair it's been through some heavy use. For my Note 2 every day is like the day it came out of the box - The ride never ends
And don't mistake this as defective, because it is not. It is simply how oled works. Just from googling you can see that many S2 and S3 users are having this issue.

Crikey, have you been leaving it on for hours at a time always on the full brightness?
I rarely use mine outdoors so keep the brightness on the middle setting, or right down at the bottom in bed unless watching a video. No visible problems on mine.

so far haven't noticed any issues on my note, but then i again i don't have a black status bar, my screen brightness is usually low, browser is always full screen, no sign of burn in so far.
maybe your using ur phone at max brightness as a bedtime clock everyday....
Well so far i havent had seen anything on mine either and i use it alot. Ive always knew about this with the oled screens. So i looked it up about the life. Wiki says 14000hours of life for the blue and thats minimum, with new tech probly alot more now. So take 14000hours for 24 hours a day. thats 1.6 years of having the screen on continious. So im thinking u have other issues and its not the wear of the blue. Especially on a couple month old phone. Also it says u start seeing a yellow hue when the blues are going. Might want to look into something else instead of the oled screen. Just my observation. Maybe u just got a bad screen altogether. Sorry about ur luck.

I know, all oled screen have this issues, but it's been 2 months, and even if you used it 24/7... that's just ~1500 hours. Red/green leds have 50-250k of lifetime, and for blue leds it's 15-50k ( depending on manufacturing process, versions etc. ). However we look at this - it's still less than 1/10 of it's absolutely minimum lifetime... that's not really acceptable - i'd try contacting Samsung and asking them about replacement - the worst thing that can happen is a big harsh "no" from them
I've been using my Note II for the last four months now, the screen is usually on not lesser than 8-10 hours a day and so far I've not noticed any screen deterioration of any kind or color change also should add that I use outdoors a lot.
Sent from my Galaxy Note II.
So I just bought a cheap used tab S 10.5, and though it is in otherwise perfect condition it seems that it was some sort of display model at some point, because against a blue or white background there is some visible burn in of some text that is obviously from a samsung promo video.
Thing is, the "burned in" part is actually brighter than the rest of the screen, not darker, and the video that i believe was playing on this screen for a long time has black text over a white background. Here's a pic of what seems to be the same video that was running on mine: i.imgur.com/drGA93d.png
So the conclusion i've come to is that the whole screen is worn in except for where that text was shown. Is it a good solution to just leave the screen on with a fully white screen and high brightness to try to wear down those bright pixels to the same level as the rest of the screen? would it be better to maybe do that with only that specific section of the screen lit up instead?
Here is an link to the Same image that burned you tablet, you might be invert it so the black becomes white and you can avarge the burn across your whole tablet screen.
Also i inverted the image for you, make sure the image lines up perfectly with the burn-in on you screen then stop the screen from turning off, and run the brightness at max or whatever you are same with, I accept no responsibility for any damage that happens.

John.
I don't think that's going to work. The display is amoled not LCD. The dark parts will simply be in an off state, so will have no effect.
Only the active pixels in the middle are going to be on, which may further increase the burn in effect.
^thats the main idea, if you read the post again, it was a black text over a white background. I.verting the color and burning in the white text over a black background may help lessen the degration between the burned in parts

Although this may not be exactly what you're looking for it may help in fine tuning your screen colors to lessen the burn-in effect. It is a new SAMOLED color control but needs root which is possible without tripping KNOX (keep waranty). The devs are looking for beta testers.

i don't know why i seem to be the only one, i always wanted a note because it's been praised as the best display of all time i finally got a note 10+ and the display disappoints me to no end, first off the colors are dull, my xperia xz1 on super vivid mode has more vibrant colors, second off the brightness it's not amazing if i compare my note 10+ to my huawei mate 10 pro the huawei appears more vibrant and bright, the huawei is running a custom rom, my note 10 + has custom white balance settings with green and red turned down to 0 and it's still too yellow for my taste the screen mode is itensive and yes bluelight filter is off, when i use the note 10+ on it's own i get used too it and i see no issues with the display but then i start up my mate 10 pro and get a much whiter better white and overall brighter image, my note 10+ is set to +10 brightness and high performance mode all auto brightness off and max brightness, white still appears dull colors appear dull, why am i the only one who feels this way?
Was gonna ask if your blue light filter thing was on. The white seers into my brain unless I have the filter on. This seems to be the best display I've ever used. And you're saying other phones are brighter? I haven't found a single phone brighter than this one. Maybe a defective screen?

Not every note is that yellowish u have to win the Display lottery
I changed the Screen mode from Natural to Vibrant and the colors are a lot brighter and vibrant.

You must have a dud. the screen on my Exynos N10+ is freaking amazing!
As zzcool said, my screen is absolutely gorgeous, now I see netflix in its full splendor, but you have to tweak the display settings to suit your taste
The display is what everyone who see's my Note 10+ mentions first. They are amazed at how good it is...
Maybe a side to side comparison to another phone might show it up but everyone who's seen it goes gaga over it...

it's set to high performance which forces max resolution and max brightness, the images i posted earlier show the difference between my note 10+ and my mate 10 pro you see how the color of the white has a red tint despite being as cold as it possibly can get

my tweaks are the following
max performance with brightness 10+ enabled and brightness slider to the highest possible settingm, intensive with the temp slider to the far left as in coldest as it gets then advanced white balance both red and green turned down to 0 blue turned to max meaning the screen should have an extreme blue tint it doesn't, i tried the google books method and blue light is always off when i launch the app so it's not that, i even tried calibrating colors under accessability where you have to rearrange colored balls result are almost identical to what i had with a slight yellow tint to the white so worse than before i turned that off again
i had this issue with the original display and now the replacement one when i havenothing to compare to white looks great colors pop screen looks good white feels slightly dull but it's hard to tell, but then i go back to my xperia xz1 or mate 10 pro and feel a huge difference in white and overall color performance, both displays pop a lot more than the note 10+
might i add i am ultra sensitive to warm displays so what looks great to someone else might look like a yellow mess to me i always increase blue on all displays i have my sony af9 is set to cold with all color enhancers to max i need colors that pop with no yellow tint what so ever, i am not a fan of accurate colors at all
Being the most accurate display of colors doesn't mean it'll be your favorite. Maybe you prefer less accurate (seriously, no snark here). But brightness should be pretty clear cut... No idea why yours wouldn't be as bright.

well i already know i hate accurate colors i want bright vibrant cold colors anything accurate to me looks dull and yellow the surface pro i have which is known for it's accurate calibration almost looked black and white to me until i got it decent by forcing intel control panel and increasing color intensity but the screen was so terrible on it i stopped using it i just couldn't deal with that display so it's been collecting dust ever since, my xperia xz1 is using super vivid mode with blue turned up to 171 the screen becomes complete trash without super vivid mode and it becomes the best display i have ever seen with super vivid mode turned on, i wasn't a huge fan of the display on the xperia 1 either that phone has no super vivid mode and the display was rather dull to me but the brightness and white was miles better than the note 10+ especially when it forced the brightness to max on apps like youtube (it dimmed outside of certain apps which i could not handle so i sent it back but on youtube the brightness was just mindblowing the white was so perfect and clear then it wen't gray as soon as it would dim when i exited the youtube app)

I believe that the Note interface is more greyish than white. This is why even without the blue filter, if you do not increase backlight alot, it is not quite white.
It can be seen on the Home screen, when you group-up some apps icons in a folder, have a look at the white of the icons and compare it to the white of the folder itself. Not same white. The surrounding white of the folder is grey, not white.
Same goes for the google search on home screen, it is not white compared to the the white of say, the Google Apps icon.
Maybe try another theme if you do not like it ?
