Hi, has anyone come across this issue since the update to Pie? If I log on to any banking app, I get "Fingerprint change detected" and I then have to enter my password for that app. Tried a factory reset, same. After a factory reset, fingerprint works ok for a few hours then the problem returns. I've used Odin to downgrade to Oreo, problem no longer exists! I love Pie but this fingerprint issue is a nightmare because I use Lastpass, which also tells me my fingerprint changed and I need to enter my master password.
Yep, happened with my banking app and my credit card app
Lasts longer than a few hours though, currently had it working for a couple weeks without it bugging out

Thanks for confirming it's an issue and not just my phone. Very annoying.

Yea I started wondering if someone knew my PIN and was adding their own fingerprint to my phone, but tested each print and they were all still set to my own
I could be wrong but I don't believe it's a bug. When I flashed Pie initially I did a clean setup and of course had to register my fingerprint on the phone. From there I continued setting up apps and set them to login using fingerprint. Later I added a second fingerprint to unlock my phone and those apps reverted back to password unlock because of the addition. Once you log in using the password you should be able to go into the app settings and turn on fingerprint login again.

Yea the bug is when you have not added any more fingerprints, and it says you have
Any fix for this.?
This is a huge bug / issue for me.
Any 3rd party app that uses fingerprint detects a change even though I have not made any changes.
I have even factory reset my device and it was working fine for about 2 days then today it started happening again.

From ICS, if you want to use VPN, you have to set pattern/pin lock, it's very inconvenience, today, I found a ICS bug which can remove the pattern/pin lock after you setup the VPN.
My device is 4.0.2, I'm not sure if it works on later version.
Steps:
1. Set pattern lock
2. Set your VPN and save
3. lock the screen, and press power button, the screen shows pattern unlock points, try a wrong pattern 5 times, then system will say you may forget the pattern and you will be blocked to try for 30 seconds, and then a new option "forget password" will display in the button.
4. click the "forget password" button, use google account to unlock it. it's done.
Now, check you VPN setting, it's still there and you can use it normally. Again, lock your phone and press power button to open it, the unlock method changes to normal instead of pattern.
Enjoy it!
Found a Known Issue: If you reboot your device, the VPN will be losted again, you have to redo all steps above. It sounds like untethered jailbreak
Works!
Thanks! I've been looking for a work around!
It works for my HTC One X also!
great! i'd like to test on my 4.0.4

Worked on my Galaxy Nexus and Transformer. But for me, I had to have my VPN connected otherwise, it wasn't working.
But thanks for trick.
It works for my HTC One X
thanks

So this only works until you reboot? No better way?
Works!
Excellent! This is what I was looking for, thanks. Just tried it on my (not-yet-rooted) One X with 4.0.3 works like a charm.
Have to add: You probably do need a working network connection to check and validate your Google account. I tried it offline and I didn't get in.
worked like a charm, thanks a lot!

You are right, it can't work offline
So simple yet so effective. Thanks sooo much for this!
This only worked for a day. It then asked me for credentials password to use the vpn. Since there was no password it ended up deleting the vpn. Sooo annoying, back to square one.

Works on Htc Sensation EU, ICS. Thx

Actually, I found that if you use a Password, instead of a Pattern, to lock the screen initially, you can use the same Password to re-access your VPN settings when prompted for your credential password.
SE Xperia Ray
Thanks!
Works on my Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray (ST18i) phone!
Doesn't work with 4.1.1
I just tried this with my Galaxy Nexus running JB 4.1.1 without success. I get the wait and try again in 30 seconds screen but no forgot password option. I can however make an emergency call so there's that.
This is stupid, I can't even think of a reason why you would need to select a PIN just to setup a VPN on your own device. Come on Google your starting to act like big brother [email protected]!
It works! From jb 4.1.1
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I can't get mine to work after a reboot. Asks me for a password for cred storage, and I can't get a password to work.
Tried:
Using password and resetting - can't because it never says forgot password?
Using password, setup vpn, change to pattern, resetting - after reboot it doesn't like my original password, I think it knows it was a pattern
Any suggestions? Is it possible to type in a pattern as a password maybe? Tried using corresponding numbers for nodes on the pattern... no luck
-Edit: On Nexus 7, 4.1.1
I have FoxFi and FoxFi must use a VPN/Credentials storage. This disables the pattern lock. I can re enable pattern lock by clearing credentials however than I have to go through the process of disabling it every time I use FoxFi. Is there a way to have both?

I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you, but can I ask how you clear the credentials so that you can change the screen lock method? I'm using fingerprint and it works fine with Foxfi, but sometimes I like to just use swipe and I can't choose it (its greyed out). I have gone into "Trusted Credentials" and manually removed the FoxFi credential under the User setting (so that user setting is now blank), but when I try to change screen lock to swipe, its greyed out. What am I supposed to do so I can choose any of the screen unlock methods, not just the ones FoxFi allows?
I apologize for hijacking your post and you don't have to answer me if that upsets you. Thanks anyway.

I was trying to work this out this morning myself. I came across a thread with "fixes" but none worked for me. Feel free to give them a try and let me know if anything works for you.

found a fix for getting all lock screen options back.
log into google device manager: google.com/android/devicemanager
click on the lock button for your device.
enter a new pass and save.
now go to your phone and use the new pass to unlock the phone.
you should now be able to go to your lock screen settings and pick whichever lock option you need.

just to clarify. login to google device mgr from pc, not phone - I guess I now have to plop down $8 for the key, I thought I did already.

You can do this from chrome on your phone.

I can't get Smart unlock to work with safe places. I've set my home address, which shows fine in the list of safe places, and it shows correctly in the map. But the phone keeps asking to be unlocked even if I'm at home.
I've tried rebooting it, turning off and on the location... Location seems to be working fine.
Any advice on how to make it work?
High location on? Noticed battery saver won't unlock it. Haven't tried GPS only..

Yeah I do have high accuracy location mode on
Try letting google add ur location by GPS for safe places? Rather then ur address..

Well I tried that, but it's not letting me since it says that location has been already added, and I can't remove it, only turn it off.
One thing I've realized is that every time I reboot the phone I get a "Google play services stopped working" error. Could that have anything to do? Even after saying that, if I go to running applications it shows there, so I guess it just starts itself after crashing.
BTW whrn i installed the lolipop update I did a full factory reset.
EDIT:
I cleared the Google play services data and rebooted, this time it didn't crash. However safe places still are ignores and my phone keeps locking when it shouldn't

Tried that too without success... I don't get what is going on! It was my most anticipated feature
Could you let me know what you did to set it up? What settings you changed? Just trying to figure out if I'm missing something....
Thanks for all your help!
That's the feature I wanted from lollipop after leaving my Nexus 5.. Ive done just as a suggested.. Weird. Only other thing I'd try is to disable smart lock and a lock screen code, then setup through smart lock again.

My smart lock works intermittent. I would say a quarter of the time the smart lock operates. It's a shame, it's a really nice idea.
Wait, I may have found a possible solution http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...-lock-trusted-places-not-working-anymore.html
Update: Yes, uninstalling Google play services updates and then reinstalling updates followed by a reboot solved all my issues.
smart location has issues its not very accurate so if you want it to work at your location you'll have to add areas surrounding your location
as per Google's recommendation if smart location does not work try adding your location via pin tips.
Hi, I didn't want to start a new thread. My smart lock feature stopped working around 2 months ago and I already tried everything (except for a factory reset) and I can't get it work. Neither trusted device nor places work. I hoped that the recent AT&T update (installed it yesterday) would help, I deleted all trusted devices, wiped the cache partition, added bluetooth devices again with no luck.
Any idea how to get it work? I do not want to factory reset just to find you it did not help. Thank you.
It didn't work for me before, the recent update fixed it.
My daughter has a sprint galaxy note 4 and last night she was watching Hulu and her phone jumped to the password screen, problem is the fingerprint scanner doesnt show up and her password isnt unlocking the phone (wrong password). Im an apple user myself and am clueless to her phone, ive called sprint and they suggested a factory reboot, problem is she has pictures on her phone of her grandmother that passed away and doesnt want to lose them ofcourse. She doesnt have the debugg active and no way to access that that i know of because the phone is locked, is there a way to take off the lock?
Tried restarting the phone? I've had the fingerprint mess up before and only allow me to use password but it fortunately worked

yes its been reset several times and the battery taken out. Weve also tryed resetting the password using her google account but that doesnt work either
I have tried to use Android pay at several locations with no luck at all. Works fine at these locations with my other phones. NFC has been tested and working, just not with Android pay. Called customer service, but they said I should email, so that's what I did.
The phone vibrates as though it is working, but I then get a screen telling me to unlock to use Android pay. Even after using the fingerprint scanner again, it does not work. Android pay was a big reason why I chose this phone, hopefully there will be a fix.

Looks the issue was with the fingerprint scanner. Android pay only works with a pin on this phone. Kinda lame.
Update: It does not work with a pin either. Had multiple failed attempts trying to unlock with a pin.

I tried again last night and could not get it to work no matter what I did. Finally took out my card after 5 failed attempts.

I've tried in lots of locations. Locations where I have successfully used Android pay with other phones. The issue is definitely with this phone. I've had lots of phones and have never had an issue with Android pay with any of them.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I had to reset the phone already to fix the DND issue, and android pay didn't work before or after the reset. I am going to try with the Capital One app and see if the issue is with the phone or Android Pay.
Am I the only one having this issue? Does everyone have success with Andrid Pay?
Thanks!
So yesterday I used my phone to pay at 2 terminals with the Capital One app set as my default app and I had success both times. Unlocked with my fingerprint and the payment went through instantly. It appears the issues are with Android Pay and not the phone. I am going to change the default pay app to Android Pay today and see if I have any luck, if not I will stick with the Capital One app.
Mine works
Sounds like the app compatibility was the problem. I have an LG G Stylo that refuses to work in a food store no matter what. My ZTE Blade V8 Pro worked with no problem EVERYWHERE that I went that Accepted Android Pay
