I used to have 5MP /16:9 back and 2.4MP front camera but after upgrading to Lollipop it's downgraded to 4.9MP/4:3 and 1.9MP/4:3
I am wondering why is that? why Lollipop messed up the Camera? how come I get over from this and take 5MP/16:9 photos again like I used to do.
I too wanna how to recover with this problem. Is there anything we can do using root ??

2560*1920 = 4915200 (in Lollipop)
2880*1728 = 4976640 (In KitKat)
it means in KitKat there are more pixels in taken images. but when it comes to Lollipop it reduced.
exactly 61440 pixels lost it's not a small value. so basically 5MP down to 4.9MP and aspect ratio is down from 16:9 to 4:3 and 61440 pixels lost Lollipop made the camera bad.
Photo thumbnails also messed up I just took a pic and it shows a green thumbnail but the photo is fine.
Back Camera is same.
Back
1152*2048 =2359296 (K)
1600*1200 =1920000 (L)
OMG, basically 439296 pixels lost what the heck google.

It's not an issue of the camera app ,no matter what camera app you use ,the issue is still there.
I presume, it's an issue in the camera API in the lollipop.
Hi,
Is the device using an MTK chipset?

Is there any mod out there that can make bulb capture on manual mode on the G4 shooting like a professional DSLR?
What are you asking for? Adjustable flash power?
I doubt the brightness of the flash can be changed. In theory, something could allow changing the duration of the flash, to provide more or less illumination. But I have not heard of an app providing that feature.
As good as the G4's camera is, sadly, we all know it is definitely not a professional DSLR. Or even an advanced P&S (obviously, no aperture adjustment, optical zoom, etc).

He is asking about bulb mode for shutter speed (I believe), not flash., IE longer duration than the 30 sec max currently stock.

yep, LG G4 has up to 30 sec expose time, but there is no bulb option. This would be great feature for night shots.
I have been using this phone for a month. I am rooted with magisk and camera2 api is enabled. All the manual controls except the long exposure works fine but in case of shutter speed or long exposure i cannot find more than 1/8 sec in any of the third party app like proshot and camera fv-5. So i think this is the cause of my camera hardware not being able to do so :crying::crying:. But amazing developers like you guys are out there who are making great customization and mods for this phone, please anyone take an initiative for enabling this long shutter speed mode for at least 10 or 20 sec.

Disable camera 2 API and then try camera FV5,you will get the option to set manual exposure time in it.
I've tested it,try yourself.

Actually when camera2 api was disabled i tested it and saw that all that it does is stack some images. That image is not what i call long exposure image. Any how can you share some long exposure shots taken by this phone? can you do light trails also? please share.
Managed to got this by opening shutter for 5 sec

its just the file name, you can change that naming pattern in the settings of the app, no canon or any kind of DSLR.
Im looking for the specs of the manual "pro" mode in the Redmi Note 8 camera, and his limits, like the longer and the shortest shooter speed, the max and the minimum ISO and that for the rest things.

GCAM's astrophotogrqaphy mode could give you this amount of time for an open shutter. in order to manual set the time needed, you shoud find and use the 7.3 version (in later versions i haven't fount the way to adjust the shutter time).
Still, if your goal is thew light trail, you shoud test the astrophotography mode of GCam, before the event you want to shoot, (e.g. with stars)
